We loved the creativity and flavors of the dishes we tried. Fried quail egg wontons reminded me of Scottish eggs. The shrimp rice dish was covered with layers of flavors, stir frying egg and shrimp sauce is a typical cooking style in certain parts of northern China and was interpreted very well in the dish. The cooking techniques perfectly displayed the deep understanding of cultures and ingredients. Hats off to the amazing chefs. Service was fast even on a crowded Friday evening. It's a bit on the dark site in the restaurant but I assume that's what the chefs intended it to be.

The food is delicious across the board. The restaurant has a cozy, comfortable atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing. The decor is beautiful, the ambiance is great, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place!

    Quail egg wontons

This place is absolutely incredible and is easily a new favorite! We got the taro fritters, five cup duck confit, quail egg wontons, tofu himmapan, and grilled pork krata (pork shoulder with garlic miso rice). Their creative take on mango sticky rice was to die for. Everything was delightfully flavorful, perfectly crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside. We will be back!

    Duck

Amazing food. Great service. We had a wonderful dinner. Duck confit, chicken himmapan, three apps, and a tasty cocktail. Did not have room for anything else, but I'll be back to try the rest of the menu.

Had a fantastic meal here. Glad Bethesda has such an interesting Thai restaurant now. Delicious beef satay, and other unique offerings.

My waitress said they had taken them off the menu but there was such an outcry they brought them back. The green beans had a very light coating on them and were delicious I can see why people complained about them being taken off the menu It also came with a trio of dipping sauces. The sweet chili was good but the green onion one was amazing. The bulgogi steak was very tender and delicious.

I ordered the Basil Fried Rice, which is described as coming with egg, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. I specifically requested no egg, no chicken, and double spicy green sauce on the side. Instead, I received plain fried rice with no egg, no chicken, no shrimp, and they didn't include the double green sauce I requested. Paying $15 for what was essentially plain fried rice was pretty disappointing. To make matters worse, the "green sauce" they did include wasn't even the usual spicy green sauce you get when dining in. It looked more like finely chopped green onions than the actual sauce. I also ordered Yaki Udon and requested double spicy green sauce with that as well--and once again, it was missing. It honestly felt like no one actually read my order. They seemed to go off muscle memory instead of following the modifications. Removing the shrimp entirely when I never asked for that just reinforces the impression that my order wasn't checked before it went out. The pickup experience wasn't much better. My order was sitting on the pickup shelf, clearly ready, but I had to flag down the host to retrieve it while a staff member stood just a few steps away. It would take less than a minute for the takeout staff to greet guests, confirm a name or order number, ask if anything else is needed, and hand over the order. The food at Hawkers is good--that's why I keep coming back--but the consistency of the takeout service needs work. Reading orders carefully and giving a little more attention to customers picking up their food would go a long way. Great food, but the execution and service didn't match.

Was feeling hangry because I had planned on stopping at Hard Times for a bowl of chili -and found out they were closed on Mondays. So, pretty much pulled a name out of a hat and would up at Chuan Tian Xia because, well, Szechuan cooking uses chiles, no? Yesssss! I ordered Signature Dumplings and a bowl of Beijing-style Beijing-style Zhajiang Noodles. The dumplings were outstanding: a mix of shrimp, pork, and chive that were plump, juicy, fragrant with the herbaceous flavor of chives. The accompanying sauce was not too sweet, not too hot, just right as a complement to the dumplings. Yowza. I was a happy camper... ...and then I dug into my noodles. Double yowza! Thick wheat noodles topped with a rich sauce made from (I think) fermented soybean paste and braised pork belly, garnished with cucumbers. The portion was way to big for me to eat after my flight, but I really, really enjoyed it (and the remaining dumplings) for lunch today. Did I say yowza? I'm an adventurous eater so the menu's less Americanized items were what I would have ordered given more time (like Maoxuewang: can you say "pig's tongue, spam, pork intestine, and beef tripe"? Protein is protein, baby!). Just means I need to come back, and I will, as quickly as I can.

There's only free parking on Sundays. Most of the dim sum we selected were delicious such as the triple layer doupi, Beijing duck bao, mini Lion's head, pork soup dumpling, and beef wide noodle, for entrees and lava walnut bao, baked egg yolk lava bun, and mini rice ball in wine broth for dessert. The pork soup dumplings were full of soup. The desserts, roast pork pastry, and pork shu mai were hot and freshly cooked. For soup, I liked the pork ribs and lotus soup better than the fish ball soup which was bland. I've had better cucumber salads, stir fried green beans, steamed pork ribs, and sesame noodles. The honey riblets are good if you like very sweet ribs. There were a lot of servers coming constantly asking if you want to order more. There is a forced 18% gratuity for tip if you choose to have the AYCE. I liked how the portion sizes were small so you can try a variety of dishes.

The location here is near the metro, but seems out of place in a building without other restaurants kind of hidden below the street level. They seemed to acknowledge everyone other than me who was there for takeout, but I finally got mine. I tried a fried rice and was irritated that there was a no egg option but not a no broccoli option (not a Chinese vegetable mind you), which left me with little more than a colored rice to pick through. The tofu with hot peppers hit a nice heat but not the best rendition of this dish I've had in terms of flavor complexity. The best thing I got was a dan dan noodle dish with some vicious sauce and little tofu bites. Overall though, scant portions for the money, and not quite the experience I was hoping for.

The first time I went the owner (I believe) was super apologetic for a mistake and basically gave me one entree for free to make up for it which was more than he needed to do. All the food is top notch, but maybe my favorite thing about this place is the food selection. I'm a chicken guy and they have a couple options that not all Chinese restaurants do that I absolutely love. First, you can get the General Tsos with white meat. Their General Tsos is very good anyway and with the white meat, it's outstanding. Second, they have chicken dumplings which you can get steamed which is another favorite of mine. I admittedly haven't tried those yet, but I will next time. But regardless of what your favorites are, they have an excellent selection. I have only one complaint about Bite of Asia. In a trend that seems to be happening more and more at Chinese restaurants around here, they do not have house made hot mustard (only the packets). I literally go to certain restaurants just because they have house made hot mustard and I love it. And while I realize I can make my own, if I'm ordering food, it's at least partially because I don't want to put in any effort. BITE OF ASIA, PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING YOUR OWN HOT MUSTARD and if you do, I promise I will order from you much more often.
