My first thought was that it is more remote than I had for some reason assumed. I really appreciated the relatively large spans of almost no civilization and all nature. Second thought, the entire Oregon coast is stunning...the most beautiful coast line in the country in my humble opinion. Rugged, treed, full of wildlife, serene. Third note, the corridor did have the most rock formations as compared to other parts of our coast, very fun to admire, especially from the higher vantage points of the many, many viewpoints along the route. Overall, a stunning area...but let's be real...it's just another jaw-droppingly beautiful piece of a state overflowing with spectacular sights.

Store was great where we rented boats and kayaks that the kids loved with making many memories to remember. Vince and Shannon were amazing camp hosts and we loved getting to know them! If you're looking for a quiet but fun place to stay in RV, rent a cabin or sleep in a tent which we also did for a night... this is the place!!!! I went hiking here last weekend, and it honestly took my breath away…read more As a SoCal girl now living in NorCal, I've made it my mission to explore as much as I can around this beautiful state, and Jedediah Smith Redwoods completely stole my heart. These trees are absolutely massive, walking among them feels like stepping into another world. The light, the air, the silence... everything feels calm, ancient, and sacred. The trails are super well maintained, the weather was perfect, and there was plenty of parking even though it was busy. The roads and trails are a bit narrow, but honestly, that just adds to the charm. The river that runs through the park is crystal-clear and peaceful a perfect little spot to stop and take it all in. Standing next to those giant redwoods makes you realize how tiny you are in the best possible way. It's humbling and magical at the same time If you're driving from Eureka toward Crescent City, the entire drive is breathtaking, every curve along the coast looks like a postcard. You'll even pass through Elk Valley, and oh my god, there are actual elks just hanging out by the side of the road! They're so beautiful and so used to seeing people; it felt like nature welcoming you in. If you love hiking, nature, or just want to feel grounded and amazed, this place is a must. California, you really outdid yourself with this one.

Ben Irving Reservoir is located 15 miles west of Winston near the small town of Tenmile. The…read morereservoir is 250 acres when full and is a popular recreation destination. Oregon Fish Reports says Ben Irving Reservoir has Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, White Crappie. It is said they also have bluegill and yellow perch. I'm not sure they stock trout since the water gets so low. There are two day use sites. The first is a picnic area with restrooms, picnic tables, swimming and volleyball. The second is the largest, which is at the end of the road in, with a restrooms, boat ramp, dock, picnic tables, grills for and rest rooms. The reservoir is beautiful and peaceful place to go. It's scary how fast the water goes down once the rains stop. It's a reservoir where water from the area is held for irrigation and municipal uses and to enhance stream conditions to support fish in the streams. Everyone needs to do better to keep this reservoir from getting so low by saving

What an excellent way to end my summer break!…read more One Thursday morning, my partner and I sat in the living room with our coffee and began discussing adventures we could have before returning to school. He suggested Jerry's Rogue Jets in Oregon, recalling how much he enjoyed it as a child. So, we looked up the Wilderness Whitewater Tour and found four tickets available for the next day (Friday) at 11:30. He booked a hotel, and we drove to Oregon that Thursday afternoon. The tour, which departed from the Port of Gold Beach, took us through the scenic Rogue River Canyon. As we rode, the captain shared fascinating stories about the river's history and wildlife. He executed many fun, quick turns and dips that splashed us with water. Luckily, we were sitting in the back, so we didn't get as soaked as those in the front. Our first stop was in Agness, where we switched boats and were entertained by Captain John. We also had to wear safety vests during this second part of the tour. This time, we got thoroughly drenched, but I still enjoyed it. I just wish I had brought an extra set of clothes. Our daughters, who were sitting in the middle, complained that they didn't get wet enough, even though their hair and clothes were soaked. I guess they were hoping to be completely drenched. After returning to Agness, it was time for a meal at Cougar Lane Lodge. It was convenient that food and drinks were included in the price! While alcohol cost extra, we didn't feel like having cocktails or beer. The lunch was surprisingly excellent! The adult meal had a variety of choices, and my partner opted for the BBQ plate, which included ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, along with a muffin, beans, and coleslaw. Delicious! I chose the cheeseburger with fries, which was also tasty. I regretted not selecting the BBQ plate, but I was satisfied with my burger. Fortunately, my partner couldn't finish his meal, so I was able to have a few bites of the tender meat. After our hour-long lunch, we returned to the boat. This time, the captain did fewer quick turns and dips, but it was still enjoyable! He continued to share information about the area, himself, and the animals in the wilderness until we made it back to the Port of Gold Beach. It was an incredible boat ride!
