It definitely has the feel of rest area, but with access down to the beach below. We considered climbing up but the access up and over the driftwood was a bit too precarious for us older humans. This loop is quite tight with little to no privacy (depending on the site). The larger (closed) loop definitely looked much more appealing...but we were grateful that at least they were open. The dump station and restrooms were open, restrooms clean. Although I much prefer more spacious and private sites, the grounds were well-maintained. Nice trees and a lovely creek, but unfortunately the highway is very close and we could hear traffic the whole night.

The bathrooms were cleaned constantly and there's access to what is basically a private beach. We were there while a borderline Noah's Arc level rain fell upon the park and there was adequate drainage and thankfully our NEMO tent weathered it with no issues. This State Park is close enough to explore the restaurants in Port Orford, Bandon and Gold Beach.

Sad to see that the State of Oregon has purchased this property and let it slide so badly. I can only hope they have plans to restore Arizona Beach to its former glory. Years ago, when it was privately owned, there was a simple, clean motel, a store/cafe, RV sites in the meadow with full hookups as well as a restroom with shower facilities, RV sites on the bluffs steps from the beach with water and electric. There were tent sites, there were sheltered RV sites up beyond the beach. Now it is only for day use. Still beautiful, but not the same.

The restrooms are pretty far from parking and the beach is a sheer drop into the ocean, I would not enter the water here. Riptide and current warning signs everywhere. Keep your littles on the creek side of the dune.

Strangely enough, the YELP website will not accept any posts unless the name of the place matches the spelling on GOOGLE maps. And so, in order to post this review, I am forced to accept the incorrect spelling, "Myers." Let me put this another way. If I go to YELP, and try to search for my review using the correct spelling, "MEYERS BEACH," YELP will not cooperate. But if I go to YELP and type the incorrect spelling (Myers Creek Beach), then YELP will coopreate. MEYERS BEACH NEXT TO ROUTE 101.   Our road trip to Gold Beach included taking the trail through Lady Bird Grove, taking the Skunk Cabbage Trail at Redwoods National Park, taking the trail up and down Trinidad Head (a sea stack in Trinidad), viewing Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City.  At Gold Beach, we stayed at Pacific Reef motel (see my YELP review of this motel).  Early the next day, we returned to Route 101 and headed back home.  As part of this return trip, we took Skunk Cabbage Trail (see my YELP review of this trail) and then stopped at nearby Meyers Beach. ORIGIN OF SEA STACKS.  Sea stacks are formed by erosion of headlands (peninsulas) at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.  As waves approach the shore, they are bent so that, instead of moving towards the shore, they move parallel to the shore.  As a result of the waves moving parallel to the shore the crash into the sides of the peninsula (instead of into the very end of the peninsula).  As a result of this crashing, the sides are completely eroded away, resulting in the free-standing tip of the peninsula.   This free-standing tip is the sea stack.  Regarding the subject of physics of waves, including light waves and ocean waves, the word "refraction" refers to situations where the wave is bent.  Wherever you find a sea stack, it is likely that a ridge projected as a headland only a few thousand years ago (see, Flynn 2003). Sea stacks have particular advantages for use as a tool for measuring erosion of the mainland, where the result of removal is disappearance of beaches and of chunks of cliffs near the seashore.  These advantages are that sea stacks are tall and thin (making it easy to use them as a distinct reference point), and they are widely distributed parallel to the coast.  In addition, the age of sea stacks can be estimated by their distance from the coast (see, McPhillips and Scharer 2021).  Large arches in the ocean originated from sea stacks, where erosion of the sea stack created a tunnel (see, page 33 of Lund).  Using a particular sea stack as a stable marker, it has been determined that erosion of Oregon beaches is about one foot per year (see, page 34 of Dicken).  Some sea stacks are connected to a sea cliff by a thin strip of sand.  This strip of sand is called a, "tombolo" (see, Ehlen).   Squaw Island near Sunset Bay is a sea stack with a tombolo.  In addition to sea stacks, off-shore geological formations include, skerries, marine benches, growlers, and boilers (see, Finkl and Makowski).  A skerry, for example, is a very short sea stack that is too small for human habitation.   REFERENCES  ( 1 ) Kathryn Flynn (Aug. 2003) The Dynamic Oregon Coast: Geologic Features and Where to See them.  Geological Society of America and the USDA Forest Service; ( 2 ) Samuel Dicken (Nov. 1961) ) Some Recent Physical Changes of the Oregon Coast. This beautiful beach in Brookings can be found by using a beach access trail from the water…read moretreatment facility parking area (indicated by a public access sign as you turn into the parking area). I wouldn't call this a hike as it can't be longer than a mile to get down to the beach, and most of it is paved. It is only accessible up until a certain point, then turns into gravel, eventually sea-smoothed stones, bits of logs, and sand. Our party of six adults and two children were looking for a beach to explore along the Brookings coast, and this ended up being a great choice. There are some extremely cool points of interest along the way, like panoramic views of the point and surrounding coastline, and a lookout trail that splits off and carries one up a steep cliff. None of the people in our beach going party opted for this, but it did look like a fun photo op. I wasn't sure if my dang back would allow for me to get up there. Maybe if I ever return. It was instead onward to the beach to set up chairs, let the kids make sand castles, and wander about looking for shells and tide pools, of which there were many! Hmm I'm just now remembering I left the teeny sand dollar I found at the airbnb. Aww. Our day was bright and sunny, which a friend local to the area told me is rare. Personally I was looking forward to an overcast chilly Oregon coast day, but I can't complain about sun and a gentle, cool breeze compared to the over 100 degree weather my friends and I left behind in California to come up here a couple weeks ago in September 2022. The water was not too cold to swim in, or at least wade in, which is what I opted to do. Salt water healing, yes please. This is a great beach for watching wildlife and observing native plants. One of the kids found the chonkiest bull kelp I have ever seen in my life, which needed three other people (okay maybe not needed but it made a cute picture) to help carry it across the beach. I would definitely come here again and try that steeper lookout point, should my mobility improve. Otherwise there is always the sweet beach access trail. Plenty of parking can be found, and though we saw bathrooms on our way down to the beach when my friend tried their door handles they turned out to be locked.

Beautiful hike with amazing botanicals, wild flowers, and view. This is a fairly easy hike with…read moresome elevation. It was very windy but we only noticed it at the end of the headland trail. It was very peaceful. The museum closed at 3:30. Didn't take us long to do a full loop. Happy we stopped.

Great park right in Port Orford. We took the main loop trail that started at the parking area. The…read morepath (approx 1 mile) offered multiple viewpoints along the way that provided fabulous views from all sides of The Heads. Trails were (mostly) narrow and well-maintained with scattered benches and lots of happy song birds. The cove area looked especially pretty from above, but unfortunately that trail is currently closed. The park is also home to the Lifeboat Station Museum, much looked interesting but was closed for the season when we were there. Still yet, there was educational info around it and on the trails to learn a bit along the way. We really enjoyed our stop here. The trails and views were great. I'm sure it's the time of year, but we only encountered a couple of people along the way. Very peaceful.
