I was craving BBQ so we found this place after googling. The reviews seemed good and the menu looked great. The restaurant is nice the service was great overall vibes were amazing. Food looks phenomenal, but... it tasted like someone dumped an entire bag of sugar in everything. The beans were sweet. The pickles were sweet. The corn bread was sweet. The bbq sauce was sweet. I was a little baffled. The mac & cheese was bland. I wish the rib meat was tender and fell off the bones. The Texas sauce would've been better if it was spicy. We quickly ate and left, too, because there were a lot of kids around the Sunday we ate here. Honestly everything else was great about the restaurant but food is the main thing. I'm sad I didn't enjoy how it tasted.

Holiday visit review only. Staying out in Wilmette in December, we couldn't miss the brightly lit ambiance of the outdoor facade. The indoors was decorated as if Christmas puked, and it was so much fun! The beer list focuses on some stellar locals, and I ordered a Sketchbook Snowy Owl, although it was hard to choose, great beer list. It was crowded with ugly sweater festive people and very loud. My friend from London said Americans are very loud (in general), wasn't Scrooge from London, as well? Haha, I kid. Pit & Tap is a fun stop in the Wintertime!

Came in for dinner on a Saturday night and was seated right away. I got the Big Earl lager, which is brewed in house at the restaurant, which was really good. To eat I got the Texas Two Step with ribs, lean brisket and mac n cheese then I also got a side of the elote. The meats were delicious and tender, and the house BBQ sauce on the table paired perfectly. The Mac n cheese was alright, but the elote was delicious. The food came out so quick that we were there for barely an hour. Definitely a fun, cute spot and we will definitely be back!

Pit beef in Wilmette? Yes please. The owner, Michael, greeted me and opened the door for me on this Tuesday. Michael is one of the nicest, friendliest people I have met since moving to Wilmette. The ambiance was part open table Texas Roadhouse, part trendy fine dining restaurant. I am into the feel of the place empty. I imagine it being very different full. The aroma permeates throughout the restaurant of smoked meats. I had the beef brisket. The flavor on the outside was nice. Deep in perfect pepper and the Mac and cheese and corn bread were excellent sides. I ordered my wife the Texas Duo to go with brisket and ribs. The brisket was a little tougher than I like. The flavor was good, it just seemed chewy to me. The ribs could have more seasoning, and the to go brisket was tough as well. The elotes were fantastic. A meal for two of our food for the price is reasonable. Worth returning to.

Great fun Christmas theme! Extremely busy and expect a wait but worth it. Staff are friendly and did tasty. Everything was great but the brisket wasn't fall apart by any means. Previous time it was perfect.

Extremely unorganized, dry corn bread, boss seems to not care about issues around the around the restaurant. No one is wearing their mask not even trying to. Seems like the boss can't keep employees because everytime I go in I never see the same people. Food is not good enough to charge that much. Mac and cheese is so bland like wow. Other BBQ places are one million times better. Not even worth trying. read more

Tasty food and good portions. Enjoyed the Texas Two Step with homemade pickles, pulled pork, brisket, and broccoli salad. We were lucky enough to go on the last night they had their fantastic holiday lights up. So fun and festive! The suburban Butch McGuire decor. And had a nice NA beer for Dry January, Big Drop's Pine Trail Ale. We will return! read more

Met some friends here for an early Saturday evening dinner, and had a great experience. Service was fast, friendly and attentive, and the food was so good! Classic comfort food - we ordered a little of everything. Meats were all delicious, good smoke flavor and super tender/juicy. The best sides were the cole slaw, smoked beans, and cornbread. This place is awesome. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, every inch of the place. Great attention to detail. Christmas music playing. The wait staff was extremely attentive and kind. All of the food here is really fantastic! Their brisket and ribs were tender, tasty, juicy, and so delicious. Very enjoyable and satisfying. Pit & Tap menu was incredible! All of their food is fantastic and highly recommend. Perfect to all those people who really loves BBQ. The food here is perfectly cooked, the servings is creative, and all the food is made to perfection. They have so many dining spots, you can go for their indoor seats, and also for their outdoor seats. The customer service here is top-notch. All of their staff is really nice, friendly, and accommodating. They will greet you once you enter the place, assist you all the time, and even answering the questions about their food. They really love doing their job. They serve all the orders in right amount of time. Also they can still manage all of their customers even at busy times. Outstanding service. Pit & Tap is the best for me! It is my new favorite spot for brisket and ribs. All of their food are quality and satisfying. They have exactly what we wanted. 5-star for this Pit & Tap! Do you love BBQ? Run, don't walk, to Pit & Tap. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious. We started with the nachos with pulled chicken. For our entrees, I ordered the brisket and macncheese as my side, and my husband got the salmon with the elotes and cole slaw as his sides. Everything was SO good, including the three sauces they serve. We will definitely be back! read more

Incredible ambiance! Enjoyed the brisket nachos for an appetizer with its creamy, mild cheese that perfectly complemented the smoky meat topping. Then had pulled pork with elote as the side, and the house sauce is amazing! Perfect balance of sweet/tangy. Definitely planning to go back! read more

First time here. I got carry out so it might not be completely indicative of their in-restaurant food. I got the two meat platter with fries and beans. For the meats I got the ribs and brisket. I thought the brisket was alright. I would not order it again. I thought it was a dry and a little salty for my taste. On the hand the ribs were excellent. They were meaty and flavorful. The fries were alright but the beans were excellent. I will return but next time it will be for ribs and beans. The other draw back was that they only included a tiny container of sauce. Literally about 3 or 4 tablespoons of BBQ. read more

Great place! We came here today because our normal goto place wasn't serving food yet. We walked across the street to try Pit & Tap. I had the half rack of ribs, my wife the kale salad and salmon. Everything was spectacular, we will be back again. read more

Have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this new Texas-style BBQ restaurant in Wilmette, and it exceeded expectations! Loved the whole experience, from the cool decor to the delicious salads, wings, smoked salmon, sides and caramel cake for dessert. My husband had the smoked chicken, which was also amazing. The drink selections and service were top notch too. Highly recommend! read more

I don't like giving a bad review to this restaurant because their food is quite good, but I cannot overlook that they are lax towards the mandatory mask mandate for their own staff, especially with children around. Me and my young son were seated indoors, and while many of their staff were wearing masks correctly, the person taking orders was wearing no mask at all. The person who brought us our food initially had his mask down below his nose, but later pulled it up correctly after noticing my displeasure of the situation. If you are a person who can overlook this, check it out. If you are uncomfortable, like me, with regards to lax masking for restaurant staff, this place is NOT for you. read more

Fantastic food! I'm not a huge bbq fan and tried their brisket and couldn't stop eating it. The fries are delicious and the corn bread is sweet and not dry. The owner Michael stopped by our table to check on us and we had a cool discussion on brisket and learned the various parts and flavors of the meat. Wilmette needed authentic BBQ!!!!! Oh my goodness, the food at Pit & Tap is sensational. The BBQ is delicious and the rib meat falls right off the bone. The pickles are so good, some of the best I've had. They should be sold in a jar, I would buy them!!! We also tried the sides. The beans are delicious with the perfect sweet/heat ratio. The Mac and Cheese is velvety smooth and creamy. The Elote corn was authentic and so delicious. I give this place a 10/10! read more

I was so excited for this restaurant to open and I was even more excited after my recent visit. The ambiance is unbeatable with the beautiful decor and the large windows that open the restaurant to the outdoor seating. I ordered the chopped salad with burnt ends. Everything I tasted was amazing. For the sides, the broccoli salad beat the mac and cheese by a hair as my favorite. This restaurant did not disappoint- I can't wait to return! read more

I checked Yelp and ordered from Hofherr Meat based on the stellar reviews. I often peek into Hofherr Meat when walking into Shred415 so was excited to finally try it! About 2 days before I was telling a friend where i got my turkey and she asked me how i plan to cook it. Cook it?? It literally had not occurred to me that my turkey would be raw. If it's not obvious from this review and ALL my restaurant reviews the kitchen is not where I shine. I called Hofherr to ask if they could cook my turkey and while apparently they do that it was too late to put in the request. Good to know for next time. Wednesday morning I joined the rest of the North Shore to pick up my raw turkey. I ran into a friend while waiting for it who is more of an expert when it comes to making turkeys and she asked them to give me gravy, a turkey bag (apparently easier and lessy messy to cook in a bag) and some directions. The next day I followed their directions along with some help from my bestie chatgpt. I stuck it in the oven and crossed my fingers we wouldn't be going without a turkey this thanksgsiving. We had a little mishap when the thermometer melted into the turkey (oops), but besides that it really wasn't too difficult of a process. And while I had trouble eating a turkey after seeing it raw my family was thrilled that it was perfectly moist and praised my turkey making skills. I did have a few bites and did think it was pretty good- and i dont even like turkey. I would definitely get my turkey from here again, although next time i'll be ordering a cooked turkey out of convenience. But for those of you who like to cook a turkey I recommend them!

Une Annee is one of the reasons to go to this pretty boring looking suburb. Hit up the bar for some cold ones plus on site made food. The prices aren't bad for craft beers and kitchens. A pretty impressive looking building. It's big and can fit hundreds. This is like a massive garage with a bar and a kitchen. First though it's a brewery. It's about $6 a pint. The one I liked the most was the Twist Of Wit. It's a wheat beer with Cara Cara oranges, coriander, and Meyer lemon. Tasted fruity but not too much. Also we got some food, which was actually good for a brewery. Vegan options are limited but there's a few. It's $6 for the Veggie Chili. This is vegan without the sour cream sauce. Also there's barbecue. There's pork belly and that kind of stuff. Beers are the best things to get here. It also has food from an on site kitchen. There's meaty options like pork and there's chili for vegetarians.

I got the Valley Lodge Signature, which is their main one of course. This is made with Chambord and Ketel One Citroen, along with cranberry, lime, and sour mix. It's about $17 for a burger. These are also too expensive but at least these come with a side. Each of us got the Classic Burger with a Beyond Burger patty. These have the basic toppings like lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Has a lot of classic items but it's pretty expensive. It's located on Central Avenue among other restaurants and the theater. There's mostly meaty items but has some things for vegetarians.

Last week, I finally gathered the courage to visit. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised. The place looks beautiful under the new management -- the renovated restroom, the new bar, and most impressively, the fine and authentic Chinese antiques that give the space such character. I've even been receiving calls from some of our old regulars telling me how good the food is. Not as good as mine, of course -- but still very good! Please keep up the great work. I was trying to find a place at least midway between us and discovered Carlos and Carlos on Yelp. Carlos and Carlos is old school from the perspective you actually have to call the restaurant to make a reservation. The space itself is located in what I think is a condo building. The space itself is compact, with tables relatively close together. We ended up sitting at table next to the kitchen door, which for me turned out not to be too bad as we were not sitting on top of other folks. The restaurant and bar were packed as it was a Saturday. Based on the size of the space and number of tables, I would strongly suggest making a reservation if you go there. We started out with fresh bread and one of their specials for the night: flash fried calamari served w/fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, shaved garlic, black olives, capers & garlic butter. This was a first for me as I have never had calamari served this way and it was great. Definitely a dish I would drive back to get. The bread was wonderful and hot. I could see through the kitchen as fresh bread was being pulled out of either a warmer or oven, not sure. It was served with some sort of olive oil and pesto, I think. It made for a lovely spread on the bread. For dinner I ordered a dish called "Meatballs" and it was just that, a whole lotta meatballs with some spaghetti thrown in as a side...HAHAHA! Not complaining, just staying a fact. The meatballs and pasta were good, but I would say there was a fair amount of garlic in the dish. I had my dish as a leftover and as I was warming it up, The Doctor commented that he could smell the garlic. The Doctor had the Pollo Vesuvio, which also came with pasta. I had a small piece and it was pretty nice. Again there was more meat than pasta, but again we were not complaining. The chicken was nice and tender and had a lovely flavor to it. My GF got the Risotto Al Fungi (Arborio served with wild mushrooms & goat cheese). Prior to sampling her dish, I would have absolutely stated that this was a dish I would not order in a restaurant as I wouldn't have any interest in it. I tried a spoonful of my GF's and was amazed at how good it was! The broth that the risotto was cooked in was chicken and I think beef. That with the goat cheese made this a very nice dish and the second reason I would drive here to do a repeat visit for dinner. Portion sizes were nice as The Doctor and I had plenty to eat and enough for light snack the next day. My GF had no leftovers, she became a member of the clean plate club. For dessert we shared a slice of the chocolate mousse cake, which was really nice. It had a lovely dark flavor to it and was creamy in texture. Service was nice and everyone was friendly. There is plenty of street parking within walking distance as well. While this is a bit of a drive for us to get to since it is outside of the city, I could see coming back here. I think I want to try a serving of that risotto on my own instead of a taste.

The inside has a California coastal vibe mixed with Ralph Lauren like accents. They have an outdoor patio, large bar, and grand main seating area that overlooks the window into the kitchen. We started with a round of drinks off their Cocktail Menu. I got The Amalfi which is their take on a Hugo Spritz with a hint of strawberry. It was light and refreshing! My husband got the Super Hi-5 which was fruity with subtle bourbon flavor. It was a bit sweeter knowing the bourbon was coconut washed as well. I later also tried their Espresso Martini which came with the perfect amount of foam and a "H" in yummy sweet spices. For food, I settled on the Original Egg Sandwich but asked for Truffle Aioli i stead of the mayo. This added the perfect pop of flavor with the fluffy egg and soft brioche bun. This dish also came with breakfast potatoes for weekend brunch. My husband got the Eggs Benedict which was creamy, balanced in flavor, and fresh tasting. The portions were good sizes and quality of ingredients was there. Not only were our drinks and food amazing, but I cannot rave more about our server Carolina. She had such a delightful demeanor and left us feeling like we had a personable experience with her. We later found out she was in training and had no idea! She made great recommendations and answered all our questions without hesitation. We made sure her manager knew how amazing she did with us and even he was so kind. If you are looking for an elevated dining option, this is absolutely one to look at. For recently opening, there were no kinks we experienced. Staff smiled, helped each other out and greeted every guest and were all helpful. Cecilia at the bar was very friendly enthusiastic and made everyone feel welcome. Food wise we got the prime rib dip and the crunchy rice tuna rolls and both were super delicious! I had aperol spritz and a pinot noir and my partner had a mocktail which he said was refreshing and worth ordering again. What can I say--go!

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Pit & Tap, and it was nothing short of a disaster. The ambiance was downright terrible, resembling a chaotic mess rather than a normal restaurant to enjoy a meal. It was far from family-friendly, with a large party at the bar bumping into chairs and tables, making it an uncomfortable and noisy dining experience. To top it off, the owner's incompetence was on full display as he observed the chaos but did absolutely nothing to address it. Instead of taking responsibility and managing the situation, he was basking in it all. At one point, he walked around gleefully, recording it all on his phone with dollar signs in his eyes. Newsflash, you run a restaurant, not a college bar. The entire place was full of families with young children. Even when it was clear that the customers were enduring an unpleasant experience, the owner didn't have the decency to offer any resolution, not even a free dessert. My family has owned and operated several restaurants and they would've comped the full bill out of sheer embarrassment. I wasn't looking for any sort of discount, but the fact that the owner came up to us, said sorry, and then proceeded to do nothing tells me all I need to know. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this establishment if you're looking for a pleasant dining experience. The lack of professionalism and disregard for customers make this place deserving of a one-star rating. read more

Located in the center of downtown Wilmette at the cross streets of Wilmette Ave and Central Ave. Family friendly, good people watching, and lots of pedestrian activity. I've eaten a lot of BBQ in my lifetime, Pit & Tap is in my top 5, smokin' delicious! I ordered the Texas Trinity plate, which includes brisket/chicken/ribs. Also, got the Pit beans and elote. So flavorful! The meat was perfectly seasoned, with a well-balanced smoky, grilled, and marinade prepared with expertise in their Big Earl smoker. Sauce wasn't required, but I did try the sauce selections of hot, house, and vinegar. The sauces were so delicious and really enhanced the meat and accentuated the dining experience. The sides were excellent! The staff were great and customer service was very attentive and engaged. Also, they have a large selection of tasty beer, wine, and mixed cocktails. What is good about Pit & Tap you might say? Well, everything! From the food to the wait staff to the ambiance. The food is delicious; that Pastrami will leave you dreaming about a second serving. The wings, the sides, the "escabeche" or home-made giardiniera are outstanding. Better yet, the wait staff is attentive, courteous and knowledgeable. I just love when I ask about a menu item, and I get a dissertation as opposed to "I don't know, I have not tried that yet" or "I don't eat that." The libations' list is vast and offers variety. The BBQ is made to perfection in an ambiance that is fun, eclectic without being obnoxious. To "tap" it off, the owner is constantly around, busing, serving and engaging with the customers.
