2/5 stars -- Pit Row Pit Stop in Livingston Came by Pit Row Pit Stop today after seeing good reviews online. Was craving some real home cooking and chicken fried steak is one of my all-time favorites, so I was excited to see it on the menu. Arrival/Service: Very friendly at the door and got us seated quick. Restaurant was pretty empty except for one big table of 12 on the other side. Waitress took our order right away, but somehow it still took about 45 minutes to get our food. Chicken Fried Steak: The steak itself seemed homemade and was decent -- I'd give it a 6/10. The gravy killed it though. Tasted like premade flour mix with zero flavor. Some sausage or seasoning would've made it actually taste homestyle. Mashed Potatoes: Absolutely disgusting. I don't know what they did to them, but I've never tasted anything like it. Had to push them away. Green Beans: Tasted like they sat in a steam table overnight and were mushy. The bacon in them wasn't good at all. Burger: Fair. Nothing bad, nothing great. Bottom line: I came for home cooking and left disappointed. If you're gonna call yourself a homestyle diner, the basics like gravy and mashed potatoes have to deliver. Well to start off my family and I moved to Livingston in Aug. of 2019. We started going to pit row pit stop within days of moving here. Everything was great. But the last 2 times we went were irritating to say the least. The first bad experience was in Feb. 2020, when we sat for about an hour when our waitress decided to let us know she had forgotten to turn our order in to the kitchen, which is understandable it happens. So we decided to go back again today June 2020. ( we did order take out because of covid between our two problem visits ) Well this time same waitress and same experience, she also came by our table numerous times to let us know food was on the way. We watched as table after table received their order, even the table right next to us which came in 30 minutes after we ordered. Our order never came and we couldn't find our waitress to say we were leaving, so we left. The food has been great most of the time. read more

This place over exceeded my expectations! I ordered half an order of chicken fried chicken and it was excellent! Perfect! And they trim the fat! And the crust was seasoned perfect! It was tender and juicy! Soooo good! They gravy was seasoned just right! No need to add salt! It was creamy and thick! My husband ordered brisket baked potato! The meat was so tender and juicy and the fat was trimmed perfectly! Sooo awesome! We are definitely coming back! For more! It's decorated so nice and fun! The staff is super friendly and service was great! Even the owner will stop by your table to ask how was everything! You just can't beat that to make a your experience more pleasurable! On a 12 hour road trip we knew we would stop for the night in Livingston and would need dinner. We found this place on Yelp after looking at the reviews and photos. What a hidden gem!!! This diner has such a fun vibe from the moment you pull up. Love the vintage turquoise and red decor. We were greeted by a very friendly staff who checked on us throughout the meal. Frankie, the owner, came out of the kitchen to greet us. Ribs are the best I have ever eaten! So flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender! The baked beans were perfection! Big portions of food. My son had a burger and fries he said were delicious. Save room for dessert! Blue Bell ice cream shakes were a perfect treat! We loved it so much we have planned to stop by on our way back home from our vacation! read more

This is a great place to eat! Chicken fried steak with jalapeño gravy can't be beat by any restaurant within 100 miles. In fact I don't believe I have ever had chicken fried steak with jalapeño gravy at any restaurant except this one. Frankie the owner typically personally reach you at your table at some point they'll be interested in knowing you're having a good time and that is "excellent." Full scale ice cream are certainly many many different flavors of Blue Bell ice cream- cones, Sundays, floats, shakes, all handmade and huge portions. Place is decorated like an old time 50's diner. Barbecue served only on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is the best town; but you better come early because the barbecue usually sells out! read more

This is the best place to come eat anywhere around....Ive tried all the items on the menu and they are all great. Everyone needs to come try it out...plenty different foods on menu ...and a really cool ice cream bar with lots of goodies for all ages. The owner is quite an amazing man ( my husband). If you want a good hamburger, this is the place to go. I also tried their chicken and dumplings. Lots and lots of dumplings but very little chicken but it did have a good flavor. No I would not purchase it again. I got the ribs one time and got the tail end of all of the racks of ribs. They did tell me they were very low on ribs but I did not expect to only get the little pieces. Again I would not order the ribs again read more

This is one of the best places to make a point of trying. Top notch service, friendly and attentive staff. Owner has a friendly presence, greeting and checking on his customers. Clean and nostalgic decore. It's a busy little place. I make it a point to come in at least once a week. I can see why the employees were so nice. We accidentally found this little cozy restaurant and so glad we gave it a try. I love eating here! The establishment has a cool 50s diner vibe and the food is really good. You won't be disappointed with their burgers or chicken fried steak, those are my personal favorites. If you can manage it after the entree, they have a cute ice cream bar for dessert! Highly recommend this place. read more

Sometimes the service is a little slow, as you might expect when it's busy, but the food is consistentLy tasty and everyone is friendly. The owner stops by the table to check on us when he's around. This is our go to breakfast place. Big servings, reasonable prices and a small town diner feel. read more

Stopped by for breakfast today at this restaurant n Livingston Tx I ordered French toast. The slices were thinner than Gillette razor blade. The 2 eggs ordered came out not even enough to feed a pigeon. Lastly the coffee very bitter! I'd recommend DO NOT stop by this so called restaurant. read more

Don't let the outside discourage you. It is really nice inside. It had a calm and nice environment. The food was great. I had the double cheeseburger. it was excellent. I recommend the fried green beans and fried mushrooms appetizers. The servers were very nice and helpful. read more

Best Ribs! If you stop in Thursday Friday or Saturday they offer BBQ. we tried all of it. Ribs - awesome! Pulled Pork - great! Chopped beef - good!! Burgers were good as well but if you can get the BBQ - do it! read more

I usually get the BLT and they load on the beacon and it is not thin. Very satisfied with the service. The staff is friendly and the owner is always by your table to say hello. read more
