Decided to try some of the platters and dinners vs the pitas, which I love, and yup they are just as good. Portion sizes great. Chicken and steak was flavorful and taste like it came just off the grill to the plate. Fresh ingredients. The chicken probably still my favorite but the steak was also very good can't go wrong. What a rare experience! I was at another business nearby & was DROOLING from the enticing aroma coming from Pita Gourmet! I walked in, meeting Monique, and said, "IDK what meat it is, but I've been drooling for 30+ minutes and I have to get something!" She asked if I wanted chicken or beef. I immediately said beef. She asked if I wanted a souvlaki wrap or something with a salad & rice. I opted for a mini salad, with ALL the fixings, tzatziki AND garlic sauce + Greek dressing. I also took home some baklava for breakfast. Monique kept telling the line staff that this was my first visit & to treat me right. IMO, Monique deserves a raise. The atmosphere is too bright and a bit loud. Could also be cleaner. The staff was relatively friendly. I ended up getting the kids plate which is very generous but would have preferred to have a non starchy base - you could choose from potatoes or rice - would have liked greens instead. Think of this place as the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Chipotle. Staff was super attentive and friendly. As soon as you walk in you can smell that delicious seasoned chicken! We stopped here on our way to Canada and this place delivered. The chicken was super tender. We also ordered the Greek fries which were crispy and delicious. I'll start off by saying that I LOVE pita gourmet! A coworker turned me onto it for their dill sauce, which is everything she claimed it would be. I have had lunch from the one on transit a few times. When I saw there was one by my new house in Amherst- I was stoked! Ordered dinner for pick up. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as the one on transit. I can only think because I got it for late dinner rather than lunch? The chicken was very dried out, and the falafels were over cooked and also dry. The sauces were all delicious! But I felt like the proteins had been sitting all day long. This place opened up not far from BJ's down on Sheridan, so I decided to check it out. Not bad, though I think in the end it's not my fave Greek place. It has a respectably sized menu, with not just gyros and souvlaki and fries but rice, falafel, burgers, etc. The prices are also very reasonable. The quality of the food, though, is just "pretty good." I had the gyro and it was a little dry, though the sauce was good. Tom's Restaurant ultimately wins out for me for the most savory and succulent gyros. read more

Just opened close to home so had to do an online take out order. My only other experience was the Transit location for a work lunch. Brand spanking new, fully staffed, great service. This is over across from Whole Foods. They have good options for non meat eaters. We had a variety of items, meat platters, falafel, gyro, salad, fries. Everything was packaged nicely and traveled well but the fries, undercooked. Overall this was a good meal for the price point only complaint was it lacked that typical Mediterranean flavor. Everything looked delicious. Sadly the chicken and rice were bland, the sauces could have been kicked up a notch, fries undercooked and the chicken tasted just grilled no seaoning. The 4 stars include 1 for the ease of ordering and the overall service. read more

Not real happy right now and will never go back. When it first opened it was good got a chicken pita and it was good, had small pieces of chicken in it . The next time I went back and got a chicken pita they put large pieces of chicken in the pita. The pita fell apart and was vary hard to eat. Tried again and got the steak pita and asked for the oil on top and they put so much oil on it, I tried to pick it up and it fell apart on my new shirt. The next I figured ok one more chance. I ordered a chicken pita and a steak pita. I got home and had two chicken pitas' not what I ordered. Also the chicken was again large pieces and my chicken was burnt. Three strikes your out.
