Got the chicken caesar sald, it was massive. 4 chicken breasts, which had really great flavor. The tomato pieces were just half circles so pretty big and needed to be cut. The salad itself was nothing special just romaine lettuce with some parmesan strips. The croutons were good as well. The dressing tasted like store bought so not amazing. My first visit here. It is a popular lunch spot, the parking lot was almost full when we arrived. Plenty of choices on their menu, including all day breakfast. I choose the souvlaki breakfast with beef. Marinated chunks of beef, 2 fried eggs (I had sunny side up), homefries with onions and pita. It was a generous serving, I took some home fries home. The beef was medium rate, as requested, and very tasty. I was a bit surprised about the amount of meat on the dish. My wife had the breakfast with chicken and had a lot more meat than my dish. Stopped in for a quick breakfast, and the first thing that caught my eye were the signs on the door: "No cards, Cash or Check Only". Immediately to the left is an unaffiliated ATM which charges $3.75 for any withdrawal. Inside, it's a "seat yourself" kind of place, and I was quickly greeted, given menus, and my drink order was taken . The breakfast special #1 was huge and delivered almost immediately. We visit Apollo's a couple times a month. Have never had a bad meal there. The staff is very friendly. The portions are very large and the prices are reasonable for what you receive. It is a casual attmosphere and comfortable. They operate with cash only. No matter what time of day we go, there is a huge variety of food. Multiple specials daily, including homemade soups and meals. Their fish fry on Fridays is the best of any in Western NY and they use COD which is so much better than haddock. They offer so many different sides. The lazy perogie and German Potato Salad are amazing. Just plan to stand in line and wait if you go during the busy hours on Friday. read more

I opted for the breakfast souvlaki with chicken. It comes with home fries. I was asked if I wanted onions in the potatoes. Absolutely yes. So many restaurants do not add onions or charge extra for some to be added. It was a very generous and nicely seasoned portion of potatoes. Eggs, how do you want them? Sunny-side up, please. 2 very nice sunny side up eggs. Pita or some other bread. I picked pita. A nice large one was served along side my lunch. Then there's the chicken. It was beautifully seasoned, all 5 pieces. Yes, 5 pieces and not "tenders". Each piece was approximately 1/2 a boneless breast. We chose this restaurant because of the variety listed on their menu online... we spent the morning at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens which is just a short drive down South Park. This seemed to have something for every taste in our party, kids and adults. We had great service, the dining room was pretty busy for a Friday afternoon but our party of five was seated right away. The staff was friendly and attentive and really worked together to make sure all the guests were taken care of. Drinks were brought quickly and refilled often, soda, water, and chocolate milk (no refill)... The kids ordered from the kid's menu, spaghetti which was covered in tomato sauce and a pancake that came in the shape of mickey mouse ... thoroughly enjoyed by the young ones. The adults ordered French onion soup which came out bubbling hot, cheesy and delicious: a chicken & cranberry salad which was a special, that was a real pleaser! Giant portion of grilled chicken breast served on a salad made with Romain. There were also cranberries& pecans to your heart's content. A Reuben sandwich was also ordered, served with pickle and fries... very tasty, fries crispy, pickle dilly and the rye bread grilled to perfection... there could have been more corned beef and sauerkraut on the sandwich, but it was flavorful and the meat was tender... we also ordered a flatness pizza that was very good and loaded with cheese and toppings but wasn't photographed... it was enough for two people, as was the cranberry chicken salad There aren't any prominent signs posted regarding payment method but it is notable that they ONLY ACCEPT CASH OR CHECKS here... Met up with a friend at this restaurant. It's one of those old nostalgic restaurants still thriving.. The food is not overly expensive, the service was great, and we were not rushed out of our table, so the next customers could sit down. I ordered the waffle that was topped with strawberries and sweet cream. Oh my, what a treat! You can sit in a booth, at a table, or at a seat at the counter. Some places you just don't know about until someone takes you there! If you live here, you gotta check this place out! I regret that I was so hungry, my phone forgot to eat first! On our way to see a free Amazon movie. We felt like eating Greek food tonight. Started with the Split Pea Soup, they were out of chicken noodle soup. The soup was homemade and delicious. I love Greek food and no doubt this is one of the best places to eat Greek food in Buffalo. The Chicken Souvlaki. Still by far the best Chicken Souvlaki in the city that has by far the best Chicken Souvlaki in North America. What more do you need to know. If you could sleep on this souvlaki (comfortably) (without squishing it), it'd be "Apillow Family Restaurant." What to get: Open Chicken Souvlaki or Chicken Souvlaki sub But I don't want Souvlaki: K, fine, try the omelettes. They're good. If there was nobody & nothing inside, it'd be "Ahollow Family Restaurant." Apollo is the gold standard of Souvlaki in Buffalo. Granted we have at least 20 different restaurants making wonderful delicious marinated spectacular Chicken Souvlaki (and maybe 100 that are less good). But Apollo is superior to all of them in so many ways. If Janeane bought it, it'd be "Agarofalo Family Restaurant." Firstly, prices are excellent. $12 for an open Chicken Souvlaki, and admittedly, while the side salad isn't anything to write home about (standard iceberg fest) they give you enough Chicken to feed a large South Central Asian country. They have the best Feta Cheese too (I get it on the side because it's a ton). Don't sleep on the Greek Oil. No literally, or you'll be as shiny as my stripper girlfriend. Secondly, the quality of chicken. So tender and so perfect. Thirdly, the marinade. Soaked totally, deeply, completely into the chicken, so that every bite is bursting with Greek flavor and juicy taste. Not to mention it being grilled to perfection, usually. Always eat the chicken while it's hot - even though it's still good once it has cooled down. If you're very miserable while you're here, it's "Awallow Family Restaurant." If you want something a little heftier than the already-chicken-heavy Open Souvlaki, I especially recommend the Chicken Souvlaki sub. It's basically a sub with the aforementioned amazing chicken all over it. One of the best sandwiches in town easily. Highly recommended. If you get really fat later in life because of this restaurant, then it's "Amarlonbrando Family Restaurant." It pains me to say that they do need to work on their service sometimes. Once when I dined in - even though they've forgotten to give me pita 20 or more times - they still managed to charge me a decent chunk for asking for another (fresh) pita, since mine was cold hard dry and congealed. It's not too much to ask for a fresh have pita with the meal instead of a stale, old one. If they @start @tweeting @you on @Twitter, then it's @Follow Ramily Restaurant. Worse, when my food was ready to go, a girl started ringing me up, a different girl pushed her out of the way and canceled it so that she could ring up a bunch of old people (who were behind me in line at the register) - and I mean a bunch - which took several minutes. The old people had already eaten their food and were in no hurry at all. In fact they took almost a minute to get their payment methods out and get it sorted. I already had the exact change in my hand. My food got lukewarm. Maybe she's a bully, but I was in a hurry, so I took action - I put my money down on the counter without the usual tip, picked up my food, and left. I heard someone protesting as I was leaving. Loudly. I didn't stop or turn around. Not going to lie - I was p**sed the f*** off. If you want to buy a house by this place so you can eat it every day, go on "Azillow Family Restaurant." I guess when your Chicken Souvlaki tastes this amazing, treating regulars badly is nbd. Most of the people here are wonderful to me. One bad server does not a star cost them. Said Yoda. If you need a nap after this meal #FoodComa then you need "Apillow Family Restaurant." If you only ever try one version of Buffalo's famous and wonderful Chicken Souvlaki, come here to Apollo, and try this one. And if you take Spanish speakers here and they hate it, then it's "Amalo Family Restaurant." As I've said, Buffalo makes Souvlaki its own special way, and Apollo is the quintessential, juicy, hot, delicious, perfect version of it. And OneRepublic agree with me. After his show at Canisius, 12am on a weekday, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic asked me who had the best Souvlaki. I said, Apollo, hands down. The band guys said said yes, let's go there! I had to inform them that "it's too late for Apollo, guys. It's too late." Last night was our first time trying dinner here and I'm not even sure we can really say we tried dinner because we both ordered breakfast for dinner! That's the best part about this place - they have breakfast all day! As always the food was delicious and came out super quick. It wasn't very busy at 8:30 on a Friday night so we were helped immediately. I was delighted that they had hot chocolate because for some reason diner hot chocolate is always the best! Theirs definitely didn't disappoint and was loaded with whip cream. The waitress who brought it out was so happy to bring me it and really put a smile on my face. This was my first meal after battling a wicked stomach flu so I was very happy that it was so delicious. We will continue to be regular patrons of this great place! read more

This is a fabulous Greek diner that we happened upon while on our way to the botanical gardens nearby. The coffee was hot and wonderful, the service was very friendly, and the food magnificent. I ordered poached eggs which is always a crapshoot but they got them poached perfectly. The home fries were wonderful and not greasy and the food came out in record time even though the restaurant was crowded. What can i say? A Buffalo/Lackawanna staple. From the excellent service to the delish food. One of our favs is the chicken souvlaki with greek potatoes. The other - beer battered haddock with fries. Crispy, and hoppy from the batter which makes it extremely tasty. Fish was off the plate! The tartar sauce is excellent nice dill crisp- and the potato salad tastes "real" not out of a can/container.
