Doesn't look like anything special when you walk by but WOW this is by far my favorite pita/gyro/shwarma place in Ann Arbor. I discovered this place two weeks ago and have been back for lunch probably 5 times. The pita is delicious, the shwarma is amazing, the garlic sauce is divine! I love their eggplant and feta pita (I add chicken), the king, the spicy chicken, and the chicken shwarma. Their lentil soup and baklava are also something special. The only complaint I have is the hours. Why 10am? Why close at 6? Do the world a favor and stay open until 7 I beg you, pita king. Regardless, thank you for moving up to my second favorite Ann Arbor restaurant (after west end and they are obviously very different kinds of food). read more

I work near this new restaurant and have tried about six different sandwiches, all of them superb. It's a bright and clean place run by a very nice young couple. I can't help it, I love their Moe's wrap. It is the best. I've also had their Spicy Chicken wrap and its yummy too! I've ordered about 10 times from here All pickup. I regretted buying the soup at the time, so I stuck with their sandwiches. I love watching the guy in the kitchen make the food. He's really detail oriented, earnest, relaxed and has that really gentle bounce to him like he is making his business work. I have never asked, but I think that he is the owner. You should ask if you go. The person at the register is always really sweet too. Oh, they have a clean bathroom. That stands out for me. they are for sure a take-out and delivery type of place, but they do have 2 large tables and 3 small tables for you to sit at and eat. read more

This spot is right down the street from work, making it extra convenient for me. Boy was I glad to stumble upon a Mediterranean restaurant so close to work! Everything was very good and just like I'm used to at the real king of pita restaurants, La Pita in Dearborn. I think the lunch combo, all together, cost me about $8-$10. We came here after a long day of not being able to find where I lost my wallet. We came in at 5:50 (not something we would usually do) but ordered to go since we didn't want to be obnoxious. I got a regular gyro. It was a little spicy because there was a lot of raw onion on it. But overall it was good. Until I got to the last bite and there was a long black hair wrapped around my tomatoes. I'm a brunette and my husband a blonde so I knew it wasn't just one of ours. I was hungry after coming from Trader Joe's and decided to stop here since it's in the same plaza. I asked the person at the counter what vegetarian pita he would recommend and he said the Kareemo is the most popular vegetarian one. It has eggplant, feta, tabouli, hummas, lettuce, tomatoes, a house sauce, and garlic sauce. I went with that based on his recommendation. It was the best pita I've had in my life. There was a little kick to it. The falafels in there were very flavorful. The sauces they used were delicious. Everything in the pita was very fresh. We, my family and I, are fast falling in love with this restaurant. We used to enjoy their spicy chicken wraps and ameero wraps until we discovered how incredible the shawarma plate is eaten hot right there. The lentil soup is amazing too but the plates are so filling we can't really manage more than a few spoonfuls of soup. My toddler also loved everything on their kids' menu, even when he's sick and not eating anything else, he'll still always manage a few bites of the food here. He's had the spinach pie, the grilled cheese pita, the kid version of the shawarma wrap and soup. We've eaten Pita King several times now and are never disappointed. Huge plus is the sweet family that owns and runs this place. The young mom who takes our order is genuinely warm. This is another one of those Ann Arbor businesses we are compelled to support not only because they're a small family business, but because their food and service are excellent! Update: this has now (in 2018) become our go-to for eating out. In fact, in the winter, if we are not eating at home we are usually eating here because we know this family is very careful with how they handle the food. There are times we can't get out and wish they had delivery, but I'm glad they are focusing their energy and skills on the food and doing that well instead of over-extending their abilities. We haven't found another shawarma sandwich, shawarma plate, or gyro in Ann Arbor that comes close to their quality and flavor so in my opinion they're doing it right! read more

New fast-casual Mediterranean eatery opened up in the Trader Joe's plaza. Got the Kareemo pita wrap (falafel+feta+eggplant) and lentil soup for a very reasonable ~$8 (lunch special pricing). Really good lentil soup, nice and thick, rich flavor without being too salty or too lemon-y. The pita wrap was also quite good, although I still think those just down the road at Haifa Falafel are better (at least the falafel varieties, can't speak for shawarma and the rest). Interior is small, but bright and clean (much more aesthetically pleasing than Haifa), and there's a TV and free wifi. During my mid-afternon visit, there was just the owner working, but service was courteous and quick/efficient (not sure about peak dining hours). Was also offered a punch card (buy 9 sandwiches, get the 10th free). Be aware that they are only open until 6pm and and are closed Sundays. Overall a solid addition to the increasingly crowded roster of Mediterranean/Middle-Eastern restaurants. Convenient spot for a quick meal if you have other errands in the plaza or nearby. read more

We've been here a couple times and the food is always delicious. They use a good amount of pickles in their sandwiches which I love. I recently had the grape leaves sandwich and it had a lot of flavor with the tabbouli, you could really tasted the freshness of the parsley. The prices are great and the interior is bright and clean. Excellent customer service! Without a doubt, small staff. I've been there twice and each time there's been different staff members, I think. Regardless, always get the positive/friendly vibes. Do NOT recommend getting the falafel. It tasted like they had just nuked it. BUt it also tasted like before they nuked it, that it had been in the freezer for over a year. Soggy, dried up after a minute or two, and crumbled in your mouth. Truly disgusting. Their hummus was on point though.
