Great service. Folks is in shirts and ties. Love it. Great seating. Food was good. Mint lemonade was fresh and flavorful. Steak quesadilla was really good although I was not expecting beans. The people knew I liked spice and brought out a spicy sauce. Would recommend

It was a Saturday night, and we since Mexican food is a favorite cuisine around here, we wanted to try a new place. My husband found El Limón when searching for newer spots, and we decided it was worth a visit. Tucked away just off Plymouth Rd, El Limón offers fresh and delicious options served up by friendly and hospitable staff. They saw our little one and immediately got a melamine plate and plastic cutlery out. I picked the Cajun shrimp taco dinner, and the portions were generous. I had planned to share, but neither of my companions likes too much spice, so I got the meal all to myself. I was able to take some of it home for a repeat the next day! The staff was very welcoming and let our kiddo try a sample of mango smoothie. I saw the sugar rush as their eyes widened with the first sip, and their review was that it was good! El Limón is a great spot for a bite of Mexican food and well worth a visit!

Normally I wouldn't bother reviewing someplace I just popped in because it looked open and had Mexican food; but the number of 5 star reviews makes me wonder if it's the same restaurant? First, the atmosphere is okay considering it's in a strip mall; not great, not terrible. The menu was a surprise, as we were expecting Mexican, but it is Mexican/MidEastern. You order at the counter, and they bring your food to the table. Being familiar with both cuisines, I had no interest in combining the two. Vegetarian options were limited to cold dry rice, barely cooked red and green peppers, hard falafel, bland grape leaves, soft (no hard) shells. The tacos consisted of dry ground beef on top of soft shells. I asked for sour cream and salsa to jazz it up, I received a tablespoon of each item. The guy working was nice and friendly; not sure how so many reviewers mention 'the owner'. was that him? No clue. My review based on food alone would be a ONE, but the nice server guy helped make the situation palatable.

Fantastic casual dining. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the friendly, caring, and funny staff. They make me want to dine here everyday! There's a variety of seating for individuals, families, and larger groups around the place for any occasion, and there's beautiful art and decor to enjoy. But let's talk food! The menu has a ton of options, each meal sounding delicious and unique. You can't find this type of food anywhere else. You can't beat the price for this quality, either. I can't wait to return and order everything else they have to offer!

    Chicken Shawarma Burrito

Amazing helpful staff, the food is delicious and fresh. The portions were huge! Highly recommended! The setting is comfortable and clean. Today was our first time, but we are already planning to return! Great job! Who knew blending Mediterranean and Mexican dishes would be so delicious!

El Limon is the first Mexican/Middle-Eastern fusion restaurant I've ever seen and was intrigued enough to visit. We stopped in for a late lunch and got the following: Chicken Shawarma Burrito ($8.40) - This is a decently hefty burrito, but mostly filled with long grain rice. Even though the menu offers either Spanish rice or cilantro-lime, this rice was neither. It was on the drier side, similar to what you would see in a Middle-Eastern rice dish. There was only a very small amount of chicken shawarma in the burrito; it was pretty moist but was in larger chunks that were not shaved from a spit like a traditional shawarma. No crispy edges. There was some slightly spicy jalapeno toum in the burrito that was the only source of moistness - not nearly enough to counteract the dryness of the rice. This restaurant really needs a salsa bar. A typical chicken shawarma sandwich works because of the chicken/pickles being slathered in toum - for this burrito rendition, there is way too much rice for the amount of sauce. There was some iceburg lettuce, tomato and corn that added some freshness and the burrito was grilled on the flat top on one side, resulting in a nice crispy edge. A small amount of mostly unmelted shredded cheese rounded out the dish. It seems to be a common theme here that the cheese isn't melted. (3/5) Grape Leaves Falafel El Limon Bowl ($12.95) - I was expecting a little too much from this dish - I thought it would be like deconstructed grape leaves, with maybe a leaf on the bottom, rice/falafel/sauce in the middle, and another grape leaf on top. But instead, this was essentially Middle-Eastern rice with pinto beans and some falafels and grape leaves on the side. The rice was the same rice that was in the burrito. The grapes leaves were not great - the rice mixture inside was extremely mushy. The falafel were fried well but nothing special; seemed to me like a food service falafel. They were topped with some cilantro and tahini. There were some peppers and chips on the top, which, along with the beans, I guess makes this Mexican fusion? (3/5) El Limon is certainly an interesting concept, but probably one I wouldn't go to again. I wouldn't really consider this a fusion restaurant either - the amount of fusion is pretty minimal. It seemed more like they just put two cuisines adjacent to each other.

Small interior with some seating, but I got my burrito to go. Staff was friendly and my food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering. The tortilla was so greasy. Costco pizza x10. Seriously; I had to use some napkins on the tortilla because it was just soaked in grease. Not great. I got the steak. It was very good. Tender; no chewy bites and pretty good flavor. Good portions throughout the burrito. That was the highlight along with the guac. A chunky guac done well. It was fresh and just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, half my burrito was lacking in sour cream and cheese to the point I thought they forgot about it. The second half had better portions of those items, but more cheese would've benefited this. Finally, the fries were a joke. No seasoning and no crunch provided for a very unmemorable bite. A shame. Perhaps this was an off day. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. It was fine, but nowhere near what I was expecting. I might try this again, but need some time before I do that. Very good steak and guac. Everything else was lacking.

I have been trying Mexican restaurants all over the U.S. and no where compares to vecino and to think I found my favorite in Detroit amazes me. It truly is worth every penny. For what to order: All their appetizers are great. We usually switch it up and are satisfied with each one that we've ordered. The Totopos with salsa are a must and their guac is great as well. For mains- the asada del día is our go to. It is always cooked to perfection and comes with fresh tortillas. And it is hard for me to come by a tortilla in the U.S. that I enjoy. But here, they are excellent. They import their corn from Mexico and you can tell. This is served with bone marrow and some garlic onion spread that goes great on the taco. For dessert- their tres leches is amazing. The coconut cream pairs so well with the cake. I could eat like 10 of them. As if it's not obvious at this point vecino is my favorite restaurant in Detroit and one of my tops in the world. I will not be surprised if they are the first ones in Detroit to secure the Michelin star

I felt a little out of place being here given just how trendy and super party-like atmosphere it all was haha! And in the months since I've come here, it remains a super popular spot to go to if you're looking for that extremely lively atmosphere! None of this takes away from the quality of their delicious food! We had incredible dishes and they clearly take a lot of pride in sourcing intentionally all their ingredients for their food, and the waitstaff did their best to intro us to everything, despite how overstimulatingly loud the environment was, so I only came away from each presentation with about half the information they wanted to convey. But all in all, the food was good across the board, and we tried a ton of different dishes. There weren't any that were overwhelming showstoppers that made me want to come back here again and again to try the rest of the menu though, so I left Vecino knowing that I wasn't going to return anytime soon. It's definitely for a specific mindset and type of celebratory occasion, which is often not the one I'm in when I'm going out to eat with friends.

But, later we asked if we could take pictures of the food and we were told yes. So not the biggest deal but something to note for other reviewers. So, the tortillas from the chicken tacos were cold. The waitress kept coming back and lingering to take our order, and rush us out. She even made the comment "you guys are slow eaters." It felt very uncomfortable. We usually like to go to lunch we order appetizers (ceviche and soup), then an entree (tacos). Usually we get dessert and drinks but due to the waitress we decided to skip on these and just leave. We were sat upstairs so I guess she didn't like to keep going up and down. However no one else was dining in at the time so I'm not sure what the rush was. The waitress even made the comment that she was the owners sister in law. She came up to me and asked me if I was his neighbor and stated my last name and asked if I was related to another restaurant owner. She took my phone number at the beginning, I'm not sure why there was no wait. So I am unsure if that's how she got my name because I didn't give it to her. Which was just uneasy to me. Again I loved the dinner the other night. So I don't want to say never go. These are just my thoughts so yall can know what you are getting into.
