Everyone was vey happy, especially those in the party who ordered the spiciest burger on the menu. (MAYBE it had Reaper or Ghost, but I don't recall. ) Definitely a pub feel, but not obnoxious and still great for non-drinkers like me. Excellent option for non-chain burgers. Large tavern-style space with lots of wood throughout the interior. I happened to go on Jeopardy night (Wednesdays from 7:30-9:30), which seemed to draw a pretty good crowd. Everyone plays on their phones through a QR code, so the room stays pretty calm. No shouting answers or chaos, just a lot of people quietly locked into trivia. I was seated immediately and ordered The Big Cheese burger. At first glance, it looked promising. The beef seemed like quality meat and not a frozen hockey puck. The vegetables were also very fresh. No sad, limp lettuce or those weird mushy tomato slices some places try to pass off as fresh. But here's where things went sideways: the patty had almost no flavor. I'm honestly not convinced it met salt at any point during its journey to the plate. It wasn't bad, just noticeably under-seasoned. For a place that positions itself as a serious burger spot, seasoning the meat feels like Burger 101. The fries were good. They offer different seasoning options, but I kept it simple with salt and pepper. I also ordered the Cheerwine sangria, which sounded like it would be something special. Let's start with the two positives- 1. The service was great. Waitress was very nice and attentive. 2. The cocktails were well done. Now for the rest. The duck wontons were pretty flavorless. The sauce helped but one of them was quite spicy so beware. The fries are natural cut and were overcooked. This style of fry is never a favorite of mine unless I drown them in salt and malt vinegar. The Nanny burger had a great flavor but it was so incredibly greasy ( there was a pool of gelatinous goo in the corner of the plate) I couldn't finish it. Where to begin... I arrived at around 10PM feeling pretty hungry and looking for some good eats. I was a little worried about arriving so late, but I was greeted with a warm smile and was made to feel like I was a welcomed regular. I ordered The Nanny because peanut butter and pepper jelly sound amazing, but also...Fran Drescher as The Nanny is ICONIC (Ooooh Mr. Sheffield)! My burger arrived and it was almost too pretty to eat...ALMOST. That first bite had me doing a little happy dance in my seat. The beef was great quality (shout out Harris Farms in Chatham, VA), seasoned to flavor perfect, and it was cooked to the most flawless medium rare. I got 2 burgers for take away here yesterday. Walked in and was curtly told to go to the bar for my pick up order; no smiles. The bartender, on the other hand, was SO friendly and acknowledged me a couple of minutes after standing there. I think his name was Chris? Keep him! The burgers were very good and done as we had asked. 5 stars on the burgers! The onion rings and parm fries fell VERY flat. The rings were missing flavor, just very bland. The parm fries had a weird burnt taste; almost as if the Parmesan was put onto the fries before they cooked. I don't know. We didn't enjoy either of them. Your hostesses need some training on customer service and your sides need work. If you don't care about those things, then just go for a burger and tune the rest out! read more

We came last Sunday for dinner and mostly enjoyed our meals! The mozz sticks= 10/10 Potato skins= 10/10 Wings = 7/10 Parm fries= 4/10, needed salt and they were a tad cold when they hit the table Caesar salad= 2/10, my husband's feelings were hurt when he realized the cheese was shaker cheese not shaved parm like most places do Burgers= 7/10 I think for the price we were a bit disappointed in the food, though the last few visits we had last year were much better. As someone who loves a good brunch, I was very excited to try 80/20 Burger Bar with my friend. Thankfully, there was a parking lot right next to the restaurant so we didn't have to find street parking. The doors were opened right at 11am (our reservation time) so we were able to be seated right away. Our server quickly greeted us with menus and we started with Espresso Martinis, which were amazing and only $7! Winning!!! Since I love fried green tomatoes, I decided to try the FGT Stack along with Shrimp & Grits. The FGT Stack were two fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese and jalapeños. The tomatoes weren't seasoned at all but the pimento cheese and jalapeños gave it a bit of flavor. Unfortunately, the Shrimp & Grits were very dry. I found myself eating the shrimp, sausage and veggies from the top and barely touching the grits. My friend ordered the Cinny Roll Pancakes and they were absolutely phenomenal! At the beginning of brunch, the DJ was playing a mix of different types of music, which created a really nice vibe. Soon after, karaoke started and as entertaining as it was, it was extremely loud. My friend's " loud noise alert" went off on her Apple Watch, which indicated the volume levels were very high. I love karaoke but wish it wasn't as deafening, we could barely hear each other speak across the table. Overall, the best part about our brunch were the $7 martinis and the pancakes! I wasn't a fan of my food. We both thought it was ironic that a burger spot didn't offer burgers for brunch but maybe it's something they can consider. Our server inadvertently charged us more for our drinks but thankfully, my friend caught it and he quickly corrected it. Very excited to try this place out been wanting to go really bad to try a burger to be honest with you when I seen they had a karaoke brunch. I thought this is gonna be fun so me and a friend decided to go. So glad they have their own parking lot cause that can be challenging down in that area. There's quite a few egg dishes not too much as far as what we call a sweeter brunch like French toast pancake, and waffles very very limited. I will tell you I decided to order the cinnamon roll pancakes they were hands-down one of the best pancakes I've had. They were very big and they had a really nice cinnamon swirl going through them. They were extremely tasty. It came with tater tots that were deep fried. Nothing special my friend ordered the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese. I have to say it wasn't very appealing. it looked very dry. I asked her how it taste and she said it's OK. She probably would not order it again. She also ordered the shrimp and grits. They were very dry. They looked very dry and she said they were very dry so she was not too happy with her breakfast. We did have two expresso martinis. They were very good. So for the karaoke, brunch people were singing it was a little loud for the amount of people that were in there. It was very hard to engage in conversation with how loud it was when people would sing. It seems as though everybody enjoyed it and had a good time we were going to get up and sing, but it was so loud that we decided we were just gonna leave. One key thing make sure you double check your bill they overcharged us for our espresso martinis. Luckily, I noticed it before we paid our bill. They were very nice about fixing it. It was no problem at all, but just make sure that you're being charged correctly. I will tell you I was surprised that they are known for their burgers, but they did not have not one single burger on the brunch menu except for eggs Benedict with a burger and I'm not a person that likes eggs. I asked if I can get a burger and they said not until after 4 PM so if I can make one suggestion being that you are known for your burgers, could you please put a burger on your menu for brunch. I tried 80/20 months ago and I've been dreaming of this burger since. The burger meat is grass fed and I love that. The big cheese burger has two cheeses and when you take a bite, the cheese just melts in your mouth. The burger is so juicy. I came late night so the lights are dim and I love it. It's a nice spot to come eat and drink. It's a vibe at night. They do play rock music or alternative music but I enjoy the atmosphere. The waiter was cool and patient as we order. Burger options look phenomenal but I wouldn't know because I can't help but damn near always get the Junk Drawer (omg). Quality burger cooked to choice, my only gripe is within the last year the chefs had to have been changed up because the burger don't taste as good as they used to (ie: tenderness, juices, quality of beef, idk but something has changed). Will definitely go back to try their specialty burgers! My friends and I were here for the Mardi Gras Burlesque Spectacular and this place is so hip. Ambiance is friendly and inviting. There's a bar where you can watch shows, with ample space to mingle. I ordered side of beets served with tsatsiki sauce and goat cheese salad (spinach, dried cranberries and glazed walnuts). Both were delicious, the beets didn't have the earthiness taste of fresh roasted beets, more like canned ones). My friends ordered deviled eggs which they said were on the salty side and their Caesar salad didn't have the Parmesan cheese; while there was a whole lot of lettuce, croutons weren't crunchy. 80/20 is one of the best burger and appetizer spots and the best part is that they're open late! You can either parallel park on 21st St or if you're lucky, you can park in the lot behind the restaurant. Easiest street parking would probably be available on 20th St. The appetizers are fantastic. Every appetizer I've had has been good but I keep coming back for their spinach and leek dip and their mozzarella sticks. The dip is creamy and flavorful. You can get your fries topped with the dip! The mozzarella sticks are thick and have the perfect cheese pull. You can dip them in the marinara or an Alfredo sauce. The burgers?! You really can't go wrong. All of the ones I've had have been amazing. Down to the one covered in puff pastry! There are lots of options, you can do their regular burger, a meatless burger, or even a bison burger! Not only do I recommend this place for late night eats, a casual lunch meet up, or delicious dinner, but they have good brunch too! Service is good; I get what I order, my box, and a check. Was really excited to check this place out. The restaurant itself is really cute. The options on the menu are fantastic and very creative. The mozzarella sticks were recommended by our waitress. When we got them they looked fantastic, coming with marinara & alfredo sauce. Unfortunately, the mozzarella sticks had zero taste. I'm assuming there's no seasoning but I cannot pin it down. I've been here a couple times in the past month or two for events. They have live music and a small stage. On my recent visit, I tried the Redneck Wellington - and wow! It was SO good. Very well cooked, and tricked out in such a way you feel like you're getting what you pay for. Like I said in my previous review, it's a pricey spot - burgers with fries run around $15, but they are VERY tasty. If you haven't been - go! Tried 80/20 for the first time. What an amazing experience! Husband, daughter and I went. Service was fantastic. I believe our servers name was Grace but I had taken my daughter to the restroom before we sat down so not 100% sure. She was the sweetest, funniest, most attentive server. We started with the mozzarella sticks with both sauces and the duck wonton. OMG delicious! That sauce on the wontons was the best! Hubby ordered the fig and fowl with onion rings and daughter and I split the luxe Luther with fries but made them parm fries with extra luxe sauce. Holy cow those were some of the best burgers I've ever had. The fries are worth a trip there by themselves but wow - everything was amazing! The veggie patty they have here is a regular black bean patty, which was a little disappointing, but it doesn't take away from the experience too much. We also had some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, which were pretty good, but could've used more seasoning. The marinara sauce that goes with was pretty averagely good. I'm not mad, I'm just really disappointed. I have been to 8/20 three times before ordering takeout tonight. Once was for a burlesque brunch (it was fantastic btw), and two other times dining in around April and May of this year. Service is always excellent. Food was outstanding. I'm not sure what happened between now and then to 80/20. I ordered 3 burgers well done for my family and fried pickles. When I got home and bit into my burger it lacked flavor and was medium well. Every burger was massively under cooked. There was hardly any sear and no seasonings that I could detect. Our fries were soggy. Our fried pickles were so soggy the breading was falling off. Whoever cooked tonight was extremely mediocre at best. For a $16+ burger please be more consistent. read more

When we popped in at 6:30pm on a Friday, it was pretty packed. We didn't have to wait long for a table, but if you don't like loud places try and find a quieter time to visit. Our server Chris was great, he kept our drinks filled ( they have fairly small glasses, so we drank a lot of them) and answered all the questions we had. He was quick to let us know the lamb was not prepped, but everything else was good to go. Very efficient and personable, he didn't interrupt but you always knew you hadn't been forgotten. My friend got the nanny burger as it comes - house made peanut butter and pepper jelly with bacon. He found it very tasty, but make sure you have plenty of napkins. He got the 'house' version of the friend with Parmesan rosemary and I think garlic. Good, but I still prefer plain salt and pepper. I ordered the banger - it's an Irish sausage on a bun with caramelized onions and mustard. I'm not a mustard girl, so I held the mustard and added crispy onions... because I really like onions. Overall you get a pretty large portion and I had the fries, basic with salt and pepper. I love their fries, I could write paeans about how perfect their fries are- fresh cut and always super crispy, I have come here just for fries. The Irish sausage is exactly what you expect - decent with the caramelized onions and very well grilled. The bun was also quite good. I did end up pulling the sausage off the bun and trying it with my friends pepper jelly - that was absolutely delicious. I ended up eating the bun with the onions. XD Next time I might just ask for a small container of the pepper jelly for the sausage, if I don't try something else off the menu. For the two of us with sodas we ended up spending without tip $42 bucks. I recommend stopping by if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Our friends had been raving about this place for awhile so we decided to give it a try. My husband and I sat outside on the patio and ordered tea for ourselves. The restaurant allows you to buy a round of drinks for the kitchen which we did. We had some fried green tomatoes with the ham in the side since my husband is a vegetarian. I live the pimento cheese. They have such a great burger selection. We've been twice and the Mac & cheese is delicious ooey gooey creamy goodness. I like the beet salad. My husband gets the vege burger. Sometimes I feel that the quality of the fries changes based on who is in the kitchen but you can't go wrong with any of their other sides. My faves are the beet salad, Mac and cheese and the broccoli! If you're not feeling a burger, they have a bomb spicy chicken sandwich. We expected them to have some sort of banh mi breading to it since that is a big part of banh mi. These were just marinated pork belly bites. Felt like it was missing something. We shared an omohundro jammer which had caramelized onions, pimento cheese, and house bacon jam. The burger was delicious and they cooked it exactly how we asked (medium rare). We also shared some house fries and ordered chimichurri sauce and bourbon mustard. The bourbon mustard sauce was not at all what we thought it would taste like.
