This truck is Pittsburgh on wheels. Takes to right back to grandmas house. Comfort that is delicious.

I found the truck at the Shaler North Hills Library on a Friday and was so pleased. The pierogi of the day was beef and boy were they good. The food truck sells pierogis in 3's and 6's. And they also sell platters that are a combination of pierogis, stuffed cabbage, and haluski. I got the #5, which was just pierogis and haluski. Plainly put: delicious. There's lots of onions in the pierogis, so beware if that's not your thing. I also tried stuffed cabbage and it was extremely tender and delicious. The service was friendly and the food is packaged in cling wrap so it doesn't spill and make a mess. Overall, great quality and service for the price.

The pierogi truck is usually at different farmers markets throughout the city. They sell frozen pierogi and their food is delicious and served very quick. I recommend the stuffed cabbage.

Nothing else says Pittsburgh like a Pierogi. We are the land of Pierogi Races and Eastern European delights. This truck makes good Pierogies, plus all the fixin's. The stuffed cabbage is excellent, although I think they should offer a vegetarian option. The service is quick and the prices are reasonable. They have several plate options that are you crowd pleasers. Look for them at the new Food Truck Park, or book them for your special event.

One of the best food truck deals is the Polish Platter #1 from the Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck. It includes pierogies, haluski and stuffed cabbage. And the portions are so big that I can usually make two meals out of it. Now I know it's called the "Pierogi" Truck, and yes, the pierogies are good, but my favorite thing is definitely their stuffed cabbage. It's gotta be that sauce. It's a tomato sauce with a bit of a sweetness to it....that makes it delicious! It should be noted that yes, they do have a whole list of pierogies on the side of the truck. However they are only available frozen (which is why I deducted 1 star). I understand, it's a small truck, but it would be nice to maybe mix in some other flavors into what is made hot and ready. Maybe even rotate two different flavors so patrons can try some variety. It's really just a suggestion, not a complaint. I still went for a package of the frozen potato and bacon pierogies to go. I mean, with bacon, how could I not? They weren't bad, but I think they would have been better if they had been cooked in the truck.

    #2: Stuffed cabbage and haluski

Had the stuffed cabbage & pierogies. Cabbage was overcooked to the point of one roll being blackened. Fool me once, shame on you...

Pierogi are plump and delicious, the haluski is buttery, and the stuffed cabbage is just like grandma made them.

I have had everything on the menu more than once and nothing had ever been disappointing. Therefore, it came as a shock when we learn they are were closing for a while. Knowing how long it took them reopen some of their other restaurants, we are a bit sad. Maybe they will make it a little less dark inside which would be great. Sometimes it is a bit too lick like a club in there. Also perhaps they could add the octopus tacos to Tako Torta ! We visited for one last hoorah last weekend. The octopus wasn't on the menu but after checking with our waitress, they still had a few. We got both this one and then queso! I got chips for the queso since I don't do gluten and then corn tortillas with the tacos. The octopus was well cooked as usual. I had a frozen pain killer which was great. See you soon I hope!

Since it's a food truck, there's not too much to say about it other than it's a nice yellow color that reminds you of cheese. For dinner on this day I decided to go with the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese while my wife went with the lobster Mac and cheese. There was maybe a 5 minute wait between ordering and our food being ready and afterwards we headed back to our house to eat. My buffalo Mac and cheese ended up being quite good as both the buffalo chicken and blue cheese added great flavor to the dish. However, as it should be, the Mac and cheese was the star. The pasta itself was cooked nicely and the cheese sauce had a great flavor to it. There was an ample amount of it too and which means that I was able to enjoy Each and every piece of pasta. My wife really enjoyed hers too and we were both pleased that the lobster wasn't exorbitantly priced. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our Mac and cheese and I would be interested in trying more of their flavors.

My wife and I ordered the Big Cheese and the Big Tex and a side of fries. The Big cheese was a little underwhelming in that the Mac and cheese was pretty standard and overcooked, there weren't many jalapeños slices, and the hot dog is just boiled and plain. The Big Tex was also just a boiled dog (no grilling here), but came with more peppers, onions, cheese and had a smoky sauce drizzled on it that was nice. The fries were thick cut and crispy and seasoned with more than just salt so those were nice too. Overall meal was about $17 before tip which isn't too bad but seems a little steep--I take comfort in knowing that it's at least for a good cause.

This food truck is more of a trailer that is towed on the back of the truck and on the day we were there they had 2 people working it. They were slammed and so there was the game of trying to keep up with orders without taking too many. Their menu says proceeds are for the light of life rescue mission which is nice. For dinner on this day I decided to order a number of items to split with my wife and so went for the big tex as well as a southern belle, fresh cut fries with cheese and a Mac and cheese with bacon. The hot dog selection was the toughest choice for me as I was between the chili chaloochi and the big tex before the amount of good sounding items on the big Tex won out. It was described as a hot dog with grilled onions, sweet peppers and jalepenos with Cajun seasoning and also topped with tomatoes, shredded cheddar and cowboy mayo and the southern belle was described as their spicy chicken selection with fried chicken strips, pickles and chipotle sauce served in their signature grilled hot dog bun. After about a 15 minute wait or so, our food was ready and I was headed home. Whenever I got home the first thing I noticed was that they had forgotten my bacon on the Mac and cheese and cheese on the fries which was disappointing since I had paid for both. At that point I was not expecting to give them anything higher than a 3 star review. In any case, I first started with the big Tex and I have to admit that I loved it! The grilled onions, sweet peppers and jalepenos all added some nice flavor to it and the deep fried hot dog was delicious. It was definitely the best hot dog I have had in a long time and I didn't feel bad spending the $7 on it. After that I tried the southern belle. It was on the same buttered bun which the hot dog was on which was tasty. The chicken itself had a nice golden color to it and tasted good enough and I enjoyed the chipotle sauce. I only wish that it had more spice for something that was called spicy. With both of my entrees complete I was able to try both of the sides. I started with the fries which you could tell were freshly cut. They were well seasoned and both my wife and I enjoyed them. Last but certainly not least was the mac and cheese which was a creamy Mac and cheese. It was a decent Mac and cheese but nothing to tell my friends about. The bottom line for me is that I would head back to the rescue dogs food truck again in the future. I really enjoyed my hot dog and would be interested in trying their signature chili chaloochi.
