Not too long ago my father died and it became clear that my mother has Alzheimer's and had to be placed in a home. On December 22rd she broke a tooth in one of her dentures - a front tooth - and was very embarrassed about this and very upset about it particularly going into the holiday. Although she wasn't a patient of Dr. Silver's, his office got her in right away and got the denture repaired and returned to her by the 23rd - even though his office wasn't open on the 23rd. A wonderful member of his staff even went to her nursing home at one point. She was so relieved to have that fixed - saved Christmas for her. You really can't ask for more.

At my most recent dental cleaning appointment, I was disappointed to learn that Lottie, the dental hygienist I've been seeing for quite some time, was no longer with the practice. Lottie was always welcoming and consistently made a point to check in on how I was doing while performing her work. She was thorough, gentle, and thoughtful--someone who made you feel seen, valued, and genuinely cared for. Her presence always added a sense of ease to the appointment. Unfortunately, my experience with the new hygienist was quite different. Although she was technically thorough, she was not very welcoming or personable. I sensed it immediately--from the first moment she looked at me as I turned the corner. It was clear this would be a very different kind of experience. Dental cleanings can be uncomfortable to begin with, and when the person working inches from your face seems disconnected or indifferent, it only magnifies the discomfort. I didn't feel like a patient--I felt like a task. An object. Just a mouth being cleaned. It was a deeply unsettling feeling. Thankfully, when the dentist came in, she was as warm and professional as always. Her kindness offered a moment of relief, and for a second, I thought she may have sensed something was off. My own demeanor had shifted--I couldn't wait to leave. Despite the positive interaction with the dentist, it wasn't enough to offset the earlier experience. When it came time to schedule my next appointment, I requested a different hygienist. I won't put myself in that situation again. Recommendation: I sincerely hope the practice sees this review as an opportunity for reflection and provides constructive feedback to the hygienist involved. Interpersonal connection and emotional intelligence are just as important in patient care as clinical skills. Lastly, a broader piece of feedback for the practice: I'd love to see, over time, an increase in African American, Hispanic American and neurodiverse staff members, reflective of the growing diversity in the patient population. To further elaborate, the entire staff at Elmwood Dental Group is incredible.. dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, and front desk staff-literally everyone there! Elmwood Dental Group make visiting the dentist an extremely pleasurable experience. More recently, my four year-old son fell face first onto a bench while visiting the Strong Museum of Play. With a quick call to Elmwood Dental, they had us in office in less than an hour. Their staff are so amazing with the little ones! Dr. Chris made his x-ray super painless, and as much fun as a four year-old can have getting an x-ray on a tender tooth. Dr. Comfort even gave out her cell number in case he had an issue over the weekend, while the office was closed. Additionally, I want to add that Kayla, the hygienist who worked on my two young boys, made it so fun for them, it seemed like a playdate. Same goes with the filling that Dr. Comfort performed on my older son. He was genuinely enjoying himself and having fun the whole time. I love this practice and would recommend it to anyone in need of dental care. Which is everyone, really. My family has only been going here for about a month, but already the staff feel like family. My dentist called Dr. Alan Brodine of Brodine Prosthodontics. I was in the very next morning. Dr. Alan is wonderful. He explained everything, he made sure I did not feel a thing, actually in two spots I had to have infection removed. He cut open my gum and scraped out the infection so throughly I did not need any antibiotics. Dr. Alan is very kind, gentle, and reassuring. Needless to say he did a fantastic job. His entire office staff and dental staff are just as nice. They were always friendly and helpful and treated me as if they knew me for years. Not that I wish for any more mouth/teeth problems but I would go to Dr. Brodine in a heart beat. P.S. Everytime I went he gave me a new special brush called an END TUFT and told me how to order them. On top of that, we were made to wait while another patient who arrived after us was taken ahead of him. There was no explanation, acknowledgment, or apology at the time. When I brought my concerns to the front desk, the only response I received was, "we dropped the ball," which felt dismissive and did not address the situation in a meaningful way. This entire experience showed a lack of communication, sensitivity, and respect for my son's needs. I truly hope this office takes feedback like this seriously and makes improvements, especially when it comes to accommodating patients with special needs. I finally called the Pittsford office and set it up. Dr. Harp Deol did an amazing job ! He explained every step as he went and showed the instruments. It was honestly easier than getting a filling! I was eating soft food later that night with NO discomfort from my tooth or jaw at all. The next day I didn't know I ever had the procedure done !! Never took a tylonal or Advil. I will never worry about a root canal again. I'll just go see Dr Harp Deol again !!! The entire office was very friendly and easy to work with. 5 star experience.
