The food and service are always on point. Been here a number of times and never have been disappointed!

Back a second time, we'd go more often is closer, an hour drive but it's so worth the experience. We passed through and stopped for a lazy Saturday linner (late lunch/early dinner). Kicked off our great tasty exploration with the Chicken Quesadilla and Zafrani Tikka-- we asked for a hint more spice to add more kick to the flavor and it was just the right amount to enhance the overall flavor provide. Next we had the Lamp appetizer and my wife had the spring rolls, she enjoyed them so much the first visit. Each plate was beautifully prepared and platted, so fresh, and such care put into creating each dish. Attention to detail goes a long way. its a food experience to enjoy slowly as you savor each bite. To pair with our meal I had the Reisling (dry the way I like it) and my wife, Ferrari Chardonay. The staff were terrific, no rush, engaged with us on menu questions and about other special events later in the new week ahead. All in all, outstanding. Wish it was closer to home. We wound up dining at The Grill at the Pittstown Inn simply because its location was very convenient to where we were staying. However, it far exceeded my expectations! While the indoor dining room looked modern and comfortable, the weather was just too nice to not sit outdoors, and we were, thankfully, able to move our reservation. The staff was extremely professional and polite, which only improved the experience. We decided not to order cocktails, so we just enjoyed some slices of seasoned focaccia bread while we waited for our meal. We started by sharing an appetizer portion of the Grilled Lamb Chops, which came as three pieces, a bit of an annoyance when there were two of us and bone-in items were not the easiest to split in half. Regardless, the lamb was tender, lean, and perfectly cooked. Its marinade of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, rosemary, garlic, and onion powder was sheer perfection! In fact, the meat was so flavorful that I enjoyed it best on its own, without the uber-sweet mango chutney or side dipping sauce. It had been tough to select my entree from the vast, intriguing list, but I ended up with the Ahi Tuna, a fish I usually either love or hate. Thankfully, their version fell on the favorable side. I received seven slices of wasabi-dusted, seared, and succulent yellowfin tuna. The lean fish was served with diced boy choy and a mound of jasmine rice, all with the perfect amount of ginger soy sauce poured over each component. It was a spectacular dish! My companion enjoyed his Black Angus Ribeye Steak with caramelized onions, seasonal vegetables, and roasted red bliss potatoes in a pink peppercorn demi glace. He also found each of his items to be well-seasoned and flavorful. Plus, we both found the portions to be very generous. Having passed by the place at least 40 times over the years, we finally took the plunge and made a reservation to go in for dinner. I'm only sorry we waited this long. It was a weekend, so there was live music, with a guitarist playing and singing along the wall near the bar. Great tunes. Service was gracious and not overbearing, it wasn't crowded when we arrived but by the time we were done it was packed. Looks like there is a longer room adjacent to the kitchen that can be a dining room but also a private dining room. Open-ish kitchen that looked clean and beautifully equipped. The food was very good. The fried calamari was crisp and tender, the salmon with the fig reduction was a nice entree, as were the wild boar chops (which I believe were a special that evening). The desserts, especially the creme brulee, were also terrific. We definitely will be stopping in again! read more

Was here for Friday lunch. Steak sandwich was cooked to order and the other dishes were well prepared. The service was elegant and the room is a step above some of the other "taverns" in the area. We considered everything a good value. Well worth the slightly out of the way trip. read more

So glad we came back to the Pittstown in for another try. On our most recent visit, we sat inside. Last time we sat on the porch. The interior is very historic and rustic looking and I love the exposed brick. We sat in front of a large window with a nice view to the porch and main road. I hear there is a fireplace in one of the rooms. Next time, we'll request seating in that room. What sets this place apart from other Pubs/Inns is the quality of the service. The waiters are all well dressed and they try to provide a higher level of professional service. I like that they scrape your table after each course. The food was pretty good too. We both started with French Onion Soup. We're kind of obsessed with that soup and now we know we have a local place where we can get it because we both enjoyed it very much. We shared a Caesar salad and a spinach artichoke flatbread. Both were decent but the flavor combos of the flatbread were kind of flat. I'm hoping they will switch things up and add another option. Looking forward to trying more of the menu, especially the Indian special of the evening. read more

So this is the Pittstown Inn! This building and location is at the heart of what makes this restaurant special. The building is one of the first built in charming Pittstown with a long history including civil war era interest, a large building fire, and stories of a haunting. The Inn is beautiful inside featuring two dining areas downstairs, one room having windows to a deck where, in good weather you can be seated outside overlooking main street Pittstown. There is also a beautiful bar. Live entertainment is often brought in, typically in the form of a guitarist for low key environmental music. The food is just good but if you like Indian dishes, this is a must. read more

Went to the Grille last week for the first time. Friendly staff and the menu looked good. Drinks were good and loved the bar while waiting for a table. We had a tough time understanding our waiter, so while he was attentive, we had no idea what he was saying. Too bad, I bet the specials were good but didn't know what they were. The lamb was the best thing we had. steaks were just ok. Hanger steak was very fatty. vegetable not cooked well. Whipped potatoes were too loose. The salmon was nothing to write home about. All in all it was expensive and if the food was better, would have been worth it. Too bad. read more

My wife and I, recently-married, skipped lunch to look at real estate in Pittstown--we're from Westchester, NY--so by dinner time we were starving. We saw The Grill at The Pittstown Inn and liked its appearance, so we decided to go inside and eat. I ordered the Pittstown Burger, and my wife ordered the Hunterdon Burger, a turkey burger that comes with arugula and guacamole. The arugula in the burger had clearly gone bad, as had the guacamole, which was unsightly, with dark shades of green beginning to brown--the guac was disgusting. My wife complained to our waiter, who then got the owner, Gary. He immediately assumed a defensively rude position and an intimidating demeanor; and when she complained to him about the rotting guacamole, he challenged her in a condescending manner--that is, until I showed him pictures I had taken of the arugula and guac gone bad: I will post these pictures for you all to see. He was shocked, and his defensive rudeness then turned into unjustified anger. To be fair, Gary said our dinner would be on the house, but what happened next was offensive and a total violation of our dignity. He angrily followed my wife to the bathroom, and then he harassed me aggressively, asking for my full name, email address, and for my phone number, perhaps to intimidate me into not writing this review. I felt threatened, so I did not disclose my personal information. Gary was completely unapologetic about his restaurant having served an important ingredient--guacamole--in a nearly rotten condition. My wife and I left, never to return again. The owner is a real thug, this was the worst restaurant experience of our lives, and you better hope you aren't served rotten food. read more

This is by far the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life. The tuna tastes like it was fished in the 1600s and they left it in the fridge. Even the caesar salad is inedible. The croutons taste gross and I have never had a bad croutons until today. The steak is slimy in the middle when it is supposed to be medium. You are better off eating at McDonalds. This place is GROSS NEVER EVER EVER GO HERE. I strongly advise otherwise for your tastebuds! It is the grossest place ever. read more

Pittstown Inn is the most consistent and yummy restaurant in the tri state area. You are greeted with professionals. The waitstaff is friendly, detail oriented, and attentive. The food is other worldly. If you ever stop by come on Indian night. The food is bursting with flavor. Two of us went to the Pittstown Inn after moving back to the area after a long time. But, we were very disappointed. The Bloody Mary was excellent, my glass of Zinfandel by the glass was okay. It was good to begin, but old tasting by the end of the glass, so much so that I could not finish. Our appetizers were good. The French onion soup had a bit too much cheese so that it became gummy. My tuna tartar was good but lacked salt, still, it was very good. We originally came here to order the boar chops, a standard menu entree. Unfortunately, they were not available. Where the Pittstown Inn failed miserably was with the surf and turf special, since we were unable to order the boar chops! The strip steak was tough for one of us, but good for my portion. The lobster was a complete joke, no larger than my thumb and overcooked. We had to ask for melted butter and lemon since the dinner came with some ridiculous purple sauce for the lobster. The whipped potatoes that came with the dinner came with no butter, gravy or flavor. The service was very good and atmosphere was nice. However, we will never return to the Pittstown Inn ever again! We spent close to $300 (before gratuity) and came home very disappointed. read more

Pittstown in has gone through several owners (more than 2?) in the last decade. Sometimes this is good, sometimes not. Here's why... Came here last night with my aunt, intended to share a few appetizers and get buzzed at the bar. Started with two cocktails which were great! Followed that with the beet salad which was plain mescaline greens, plain diced roasted beets and an odd shaped wod of fried goat cheese. Where was the oregano? The salt? The pepper? It was lacking all around. For me, the seasoning has been a miss for every salad I've tried over the past last two years. Decided to order two soups after that since it was a snowy cold night. I decided on the French Onion Soup and my aunt ordered the special coconut squash soup. Her soup was delightful with a hint of cayenne! My FOS Soup had two slices of deli Swiss cheese on top that looked and tasted like it was brûléed with a torch gun. In my opinion, it should always be put under a broiler so the cheese gets bubbly but instead it tastes burnt and like chemicals :( On the bright side though, a high note of the French onion soup was the broth. It was herbaceous, and the onions were silky smooth! Atmosphere-- they had a nice gentleman playing the keyboard live which was a nice surprise and set the mood! However, there were only 2 other people at the bar with the dining room also very empty. Not sure if the food is why there was a lack of customers or if it was due to the snowy weather. read more

Had dinner for a party of 11. Food was mostly solid all around (nachos were the bizarre exception, swimming in a queso sauce) and service was well coordinated and very prompt/efficient. The place looks like they "spruced" it up but the parking lot sewer stench is still a "turn off"........ The out building looks great! The portions got small, food was just OK and the meals are very pricey....... $14 for a small slice of cheese cake is crazy and we were shocked at the bottom line of the bill. The Pittstown Inn website does NOT reflect the "true" prices that are on the menu. $$$$$ The place was NOT crowded on a Saturday night like they use to be and if it keeps up the place cannot stay in business....... They use to have a very good 3 piece band but now it is just a solo guitar guy. The Pitt was one of my favorites but I hate to say it, but it will be a very long time before I go back and this was "echoed" when I walked out to the parking lot with a party of four who just finished their meals. My husband and I had dinner here for the first time in many years. After a number of wonderful dining experiences at the Pittstown Inn, we stopped frequenting the restaurant as everything (food, drinks, service) seemed to go downhill fast and stay down. Last night we decided to give it one more try before saying, "never again." So glad we did! It was a weather-perfect evening so we sat at a table on the patio. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Drinks were perfect. My Caesar Salad and lamb chops were excellent as were my husband's ginger-cilantro soup and stuffed shrimp. Nestled in Pittstown, NJ is a charming inn featuring a diverse menu of American classics and Indian food. Yes. Indian! I was very lucky to eat here two nights in a row during a business function in Clinton. It's very close by and there is plenty of parking across the street. The front of the building was decorated for Christmas in beautiful lights and wreaths. All over a stunning atmosphere tastefully prepared for the season. Speaking of being tastely prepared, the food was excellent. The first time I was here I had the grilled salmon with whipped potatoes and vegetables. It was all delicious and classically prepared. The second night I had the Indian Butter Chicken with naan and holy smokes....incredible. The sauce was perfect. I wanted to drink it out of the bowl. There is an extensive wine list and a full bar. My friend's birthday was this past week so a few friends and I decided to dine-out for dinner. We went on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. The waiters were extremely nice and accommodating. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and they were brought out as they were ready, I recommend trying the Steak Bites ($16 - comes with about 12 pieces). The Hanger Steak ($26) was absolutely delicious, I cleaned my plate. They also have a large range of drinks to choose from and it was fun trying some of them. He is so extremely attentive- whether it's making sure that the appetizers that were special ordered come out right, or the Old Fashioned is just as you like it - he's the best! Decided to check this place out after an afternoon hitting the wine trails. If you are looking for a nostalgic, inviting, and semi-romantic place to dine, I would definitely recommend a visit. For starters, service was top notch. We heard the Inn was purchased by new management, but you couldn't tell they were new -- service never missed a beat. They checked on us frequently, made sure our water and wine glasses were always topped off, and reset the table after every course. Food wise, we went full course and loved everything. Calamari was fried crisp and super fresh. The house salad of the day, a mix of arugula, wine poached pears, and pine nuts, was bright and tangy. We split the beef ravioli in mushroom cream sauce and finished with the apple cobbler for dessert. Besides the food, we loved the decor and history of this place. The wine cellar and signed declarations inside the lobby add to the ambience. The bar looked nice too, but we will save that for next time. Recommend a visit if you are in the area! read more

It was cooked perfectly but needed a little salt which I added myself. Wife had salmon BLT. Rolls were very soft. Service was excellent and the staff were very courteous and attentive. Another year, another birthday. Where to go? I pass the Pittstown Inn several times a week. I decided it was about time we tried it. The old place was a welcome oasis on a brutally hot day. Cool inside. We started off with some Proseco which could have been colder. Our server, Joe, was a delight. Very personable. Offered to field questions but we never have questions. Starters. Tuna Tartare, Chicken Tika, Ceasar Sald, Fried Calamari. The fried calamari was the winner. Great breading, not chewy amd served with very flavorful marinara and aioli. Delicious. Pittstown always has Indian dishes on the menu and as specials. The chicken tika was very nice. Served in the style of satay with a dipping sauce. Tuna Tartare, unfortunately, was bland. The tuna was very fresh but underseasoned. It was only rescued by the Wasabi drizzle. My Dad enjoyed his Cesar. Main courses. Lobster tail with asparagus and rice, ribeye steak with fries, lamb chops with spinach and sweet potato fries. The Lamb chops were outstanding! Cooked rare, they were marinated in orange puree, raisin paste and onion. You could actually taste that this was so. Very flavorful. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I have had. The ribeyes were cooked "well", that is to say, rare and medium rare as requested and the fries served with them were first rate. My wife's lobster tail was well prepared. Our only criticism was with the vegetables. But for the salt, the sauteed spinach with my chops would have been the best spinach I have had anywhere. Well, besides my fried spinach. The added salt was very heavy handed. So too with my wife's asparagus. Salt, salt, salt. Dessert was very nice. Mud pie, molten chocolate cake. Good coffee and espresso. My family and I dined here on Sunday night and it was a very good experience. To start the building is charming and the interior is immaculate. We were going to have a baby with us and so we made a note when we made the online reservations about this. When we arrived they mentioned our note and seated us a a large table off to the side where we would have plenty of room, "they actually read the note". The menu is excellent, a combination of many old favorites and some interesting new dishes, everything we ordered was great, from appetizers to desserts. The waiter was attentive and he seemed to always be available with a glance, later in the evening the owner stopped by to check on us as well. We will be back he. read more

When I said that would be too much dessert for 5 people I was told "we have to make money somehow." Really? Appetizers, entrees & beverages isn't enough? If that's the case, no thank you.
