    Crispy Fried Calamari

Having passed by the place at least 40 times over the years, we finally took the plunge and made a reservation to go in for dinner. I'm only sorry we waited this long. It was a weekend, so there was live music, with a guitarist playing and singing along the wall near the bar. Great tunes. Service was gracious and not overbearing, it wasn't crowded when we arrived but by the time we were done it was packed. Looks like there is a longer room adjacent to the kitchen that can be a dining room but also a private dining room. Open-ish kitchen that looked clean and beautifully equipped. The food was very good. The fried calamari was crisp and tender, the salmon with the fig reduction was a nice entree, as were the wild boar chops (which I believe were a special that evening). The desserts, especially the creme brulee, were also terrific. We definitely will be stopping in again!

So glad we came back to the Pittstown in for another try. On our most recent visit, we sat inside. Last time we sat on the porch. The interior is very historic and rustic looking and I love the exposed brick. We sat in front of a large window with a nice view to the porch and main road. I hear there is a fireplace in one of the rooms. Next time, we'll request seating in that room. What sets this place apart from other Pubs/Inns is the quality of the service. The waiters are all well dressed and they try to provide a higher level of professional service. I like that they scrape your table after each course. The food was pretty good too. We both started with French Onion Soup. We're kind of obsessed with that soup and now we know we have a local place where we can get it because we both enjoyed it very much. We shared a Caesar salad and a spinach artichoke flatbread. Both were decent but the flavor combos of the flatbread were kind of flat. I'm hoping they will switch things up and add another option. Looking forward to trying more of the menu, especially the Indian special of the evening.

Honestly, this place is a hidden gem in Hunterdon County. It's perfectly rustic and the menu is always next level. The service is on par with top shelf restaurants in Manhattan. Highly recommend!

Food was tasty but there was barely any steak on my steak sandwich, and my beer also was brought to me with a 2" foam head. Service was ok, ambience was exactly what you would expect.

My wife and I, recently-married, skipped lunch to look at real estate in Pittstown--we're from Westchester, NY--so by dinner time we were starving. We saw The Grill at The Pittstown Inn and liked its appearance, so we decided to go inside and eat. I ordered the Pittstown Burger, and my wife ordered the Hunterdon Burger, a turkey burger that comes with arugula and guacamole. The arugula in the burger had clearly gone bad, as had the guacamole, which was unsightly, with dark shades of green beginning to brown--the guac was disgusting. My wife complained to our waiter, who then got the owner, Gary. He immediately assumed a defensively rude position and an intimidating demeanor; and when she complained to him about the rotting guacamole, he challenged her in a condescending manner--that is, until I showed him pictures I had taken of the arugula and guac gone bad: I will post these pictures for you all to see. He was shocked, and his defensive rudeness then turned into unjustified anger. To be fair, Gary said our dinner would be on the house, but what happened next was offensive and a total violation of our dignity. He angrily followed my wife to the bathroom, and then he harassed me aggressively, asking for my full name, email address, and for my phone number, perhaps to intimidate me into not writing this review. I felt threatened, so I did not disclose my personal information. Gary was completely unapologetic about his restaurant having served an important ingredient--guacamole--in a nearly rotten condition. My wife and I left, never to return again. The owner is a real thug, this was the worst restaurant experience of our lives, and you better hope you aren't served rotten food.

Pittstown Inn is the most consistent and yummy restaurant in the tri state area. You are greeted with professionals. The waitstaff is friendly, detail oriented, and attentive. The food is other worldly. If you ever stop by come on Indian night. The food is bursting with flavor. Be sure to order the spring rolls as an appetizer and if Sonel is working be sure to order a French Cosmo! I love coming here with my family. It feels like home!

Really good local restaurant & bar. They make good cocktails and have a decent wine and craft beer selection. I like to go on Wednesdays because they have an Indian special entree which is always good and live music. Highly recommend.

We were there Friday night and we had a fantastic dinner. Service was great but the guy was a little pushy, taking our plates away when we weren't done. We had to tell him. The manager / owner walked around to every table to ensure everything was good. I recommend this place and I can't wait to go back. My surf and turf special was delicious

French onion soup yum!!! But cheese was like deli cheese and disappointing. Broth was yummy tho

We had a 7 PM reservation on a Wednesday night, and the place and parking lot were packed! Good sign to start! To begin, I enjoyed the Ruby grapefruit mocktail. Although I'd love trying new and unique cocktails at different establishments, I was in the mood for something light and refreshing and nonalcoholic. This hit just a spot. For food, we started off with the margherita pizza to share. Then, I opted for the crispy, buttermilk chicken sandwich with malt vinegar, potato wedges/fries. It was very delicious. The sandwich was crispy and fresh and the bun looked like it was handcrafted. The malt fries were unique because they had a vinegar powder on them. I've never tasted malt vinegar before, and it was a unique texture. Our waitress was very friendly, but I wish she had been a bit more attentive. She only stopped by to ask us for our drink order, our food order, and to give the check. My friends wanted to order more drinks, but because she did not come around as frequently as we would have liked, they were unable to place another order. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, however, because the restaurant was bustling from start to finish. Overall, very nice setting and meal. Cute decor, including an Anthony Bourdain abstract portrait.

The food here is to-die for, and is certainly one of the best restaurants in the area. I have friends who visit from out of town who specifically request to go to Blue Fish during their stay! The prices are great for the quality of the food. I always opt for the build-your-own entree. This time, I chose the brisket with a side of the caramelized plantains, but I also often go with the chicken, steak, or salmon with the pesto butter. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. The staff are very kind and the service is quick. The interior is modern and up-to-date, paralleled by its brick historic vibe exterior, as the Stangl Factory building was once a pottery/ceramic factory. Now, the building is home to Blue Fish Grill, as well as a number of other businesses including an artist-owned gallery, a large pottery studio, a medium, and a yoga and physical therapy studio. Stangl also hosts a weekly artisan farmers' market and bi-monthly live music and art events. It really is a growing creative community. Blue Fish Grill doesn't have a bar, but they do allow BYOB. If you find yourself in the Flemington area, be sure to grab a bite at Blue Fish! It will surely be a meal to remember.

Sadly, a poor experience and we are thoroughly disappointed. We were seated promptly, and had our lunch orders taken promptly which was great. Unfortunately those were the positives. The wait for our food was extensive - I was checking my watch to avoid being overly impatient as it dragged on especially because I always tell my kids not to complain and to be patient. Adult starter salads came out within 20 minutes, but nothing else came again until 55 minutes after ordering. The kids' starter fruit cups never came until I asked for them after their 'main' courses had come. Two of my girls ordered the kids' scrambled eggs which was a plate of scrambled eggs with a single piece of toast. My third ordered the kid's french toast which arrived as a small, single piece of french toast, with no fruit/compote, etc on top as was supposed to. It was an incredibly small portion, especially for a hungry 9 year old after waiting for 55 minutes, such that I actually asked the waiter for another piece for her. When this arrived, it did have fruit/compote on top (inconsistency?). My wife ordered the eggs Benedict, which is her favorite, and it was fine but the eggs were overpoached for what it's worth. I had the Healthy Meal - it was fine but nothing amazing. For the majority of the 55 minute gap between the placement of the order and arrival of the food (minus two salads) our server almost never came by to check on us or assure us of timing, and he never refilled waters or asked about drink refills for the kids. We all ordered egg-based meals, and the table had no pepper or ketchup on it or brought out with the food, nor butter for toast. Yes, we could have asked for it, and we would have if the food had come sooner, but after the long wait we just wanted to expedite, eat, and go. The manager did check with us one time before food arrival at which point I mentioned the kids still did not have their starter fruit cups, and she advised our food was coming out soon. Main courses require cooking, but a fruit cup takes about 30 seconds to put together, and the children at the table next to us received and ate fruit cup starters long before their mains arrived - again, no consistency. Things happen, cafes and restaurants encounter challenges, and we are pretty understanding of that so would not have likely bothered to submit a review for one bad experience were it not for what was said in front of us before we left. Another family of four (two young ones) next to us had clearly been having a similar experience to us and did not kick up an overt fuss, but must have submitted a complaint at some point before leaving. After they left, we were the only people in the front room for a few moments while the manager and owner were nearby chatting and clearing the other table. The manager told the owner of the other family's complaint that they had waited "an hour and twenty minutes" for their meals, at which point the owner inquired from her if they had really waited that long, and she said "no it was only 45." The owner then proceeded to dismiss the complaint and stated "isn't that what Mother's Day is all about?" or something to that effect, I assume suggesting that on Mother's Day we should all be happy and/or expecting a long, leisurely meal. I have no idea if their wait was 80 mins but if it was like ours it was probably more than 45 - like I said, I was actually counting. Secondly, having that conversation out in the open in front of other patrons is highly unprofessional, especially if you are going to be so dismissive. It is also tone-deaf to the fact that perhaps the patrons you are having the discussion in front of might also have had a similar experience and actually feel almost exactly the same way the first family did - in which case it is a legitimate shortcoming of the meal process that day, not an easily dismissed one-off complaint by a disgruntled patron. Finally, in no way should an eatery's owner use the premise of what Mother's Day is "about" in his mind as a weak justification for poor/slow service. I love a leisurely meal, if I am enjoying the food and taking my time, not spending the bulk of the time waiting for it. If the kitchen is slow for other reasons, so be it, just apologize and do something nice for that family that lodged a valid complaint. I was actually prepared to also speak to the owner about our experience, but after hearing his back-and-forth with the manager, it seemed pointless to do so privately as it would have been readily dismissed as well, I suspect. Hence an online review - which I have not done in years. Fair is fair, their takeout coffees and pastries are tremendous, and the barista staff has always been pleasant to me. But that is clearly their strength. We would not come here for a meal again.
