Service was absolutely wonderful. I just went up to the counter and looked at the menu. As people started to crowd and I immediately committed to the bridge Café salad that had sliced apples and beautiful, flavorful cheese! It was beautiful flavorful, and so colorful. My bff and I split it along with a cheeseburger. Everything was fresh and very delicious. We sat along the outside of the café in their seating that overlook the beautiful bridge. We could people watch and just enjoy the most beautiful day. We split a cup of kheer rice pudding. It was very delicious. So creamy and delightful with sliced almonds and yellow raisins! I also enjoy a glass of fresh BASIL lemonade . I would definitely get this all over again! FRESHEN DELICIOUS AND I KNOW I LIVE FOREVER AFTER DRINKING IT! Healthy! Cute Frenchtown and this café right at the NJ-PA border. We were already had lunch at home, but after a few strolls around this town, you get that "let's eat something feeling". It's an old, rustic look ambiance, small-town vibe restaurant. They don't have many options, but I guess it's sufficient. I ordered, chicken kofta (Pita wrap)- chicken kabab with onions, cabbage, sauce, and greens - it's good and really full. They have a seating arrangement at the side with glass windows looking over the Delaware river and bridge. It's cute. Service - You can't expect like "top service here", this is a family-owned restaurant so be mindful. it was Saturday and the server did not get a break since the morning so there is no issue in waiting another 5 minutes. read more

Visited after a bike ride on the adjacent rail trail. The cafe is in the former station, with windowed seating added to overlook the path and the river and the bridge - charming! Very good food and beverage. Lunch menu is maginative salads, sandwiches, tacos and beautiful baked goods. I had the Works Dog, a unique recipe which is maybe the best hot dog I ever ate, and I am from Chicago and live in the NYC area. Beef frank, toasted bun, sauerkraut, red onions, sweet relish, add your own mustard. Mint Tea was fab too. My friend had a Southwestern chicken wrap and onion rings, very happy too. Oh and they are very nice, you order at a counter and take a seat, they bring your food when it's ready. If you want a cup of water, ask and they will bring that too. read more

My husband and I decided to eat out for lunch and ended up at The Bridge Cafe in Flemington. We ordered from the handwritten papers in the wall next to the counter: Southwest Chicken Salad and a Southwest Chicken wrap. We had one bottle of seltzer each to drink. There were only two tables occupied and we received our food long after the other table received their food even though we were there before them. Our food arrived from the waiter who gave off a begrudging aura with the salad in a paper bowl with a napkin and plastic fork. My wrap arrived in a paper wrap in a paper bowl. The food was very good! But the price was $41.05 for the two of us! For that price, I would expect at least a smile. It will be a long time before we are repeat customers. read more

Cam to visit Frenchtown post-Covid and still had a great meal at The Bridge Cafe. You can order a full entrée and eat in the indoor or outdoor dining areas. Order at the counter, pay, and go find a seat. Someone will yell for the person whose name is on the credit card (or whatever you give if you pay cash) and bring the food. It seems that there is a rotating list of three specials. I had the cold noodle salad with pork and loved it. Nice umami flavor from the soy and had a good amount of red cabbage mixed in. I tried my wife's watermelon salad but the noodles were way better. Our toddler devoured a carrot and raisin scone. So kid approved for sure. The Bridge Cafe is definitely a top choice for food in downtown Frenchtown. read more

I was served a six dollar ice tea that was mostly ice, when i commented on the fact that it was mostly ice and asked for a little more ice tea, i was told that they do not provide refills and that they were closing and i had to leave the outdoor seating area within 5 minutes. I had just spent $12 on a piece of pie and an ice tea. Worst customer serve by an obnoxious employee. What a bozo. This used to be one of my favorite places in Frenchtown but now the menu is limited, overpriced and boring. It used to be wonderful as the owner is a CIT graduate but not so now. Ordered the one Bridge Burger and one side salad to split with water for me & he grabbed a root beer...Decided to split one piece of coconut cake & the guy commented, "you threw me a curve ball on that one" which was weird! Considering salad served in a cardboard box with plastic utensils and burger wrapped in paper w/ no pickle or side it really was expensive at $35.26 (Basically a meal for one that we split). Glad we split the order because double that price without silverware & actual plates would have been an extremely expensive burger date...LOL Probably won't go back anytime soon, but overall it was a nicely done burger! I wasn't sure what to expect at 3.5 stars but I really enjoyed coming to The Bridge Cafe. I was riding my bicycle along the canal trail and forgot the bike locks. Luckily there are bike racks adjacent to the cafe. You can sit indoors or outdoors and both provided a clear view so I didn't have to worry about the bike disappearing. I ordered the omelette special and it was delicious! I think it was eggs, Swiss cheese, asparagus and mushrooms. It came with some really good homemade (I think) bread and jam. The coffee was good too. Everyone there was really friendly. I gave my compliments to the chef (I think they are the owner also) on the way out. We struck up a conversation and he offered me some fresh in-house smoked salmon he was cutting. It was soooo good. I wanted sit back down and get an order of it. read more

On a perfect Spring weekend when the urge to drive up river overcomes the need to work the garden, The Bridge Café is a great destination. Frenchtown, New Jersey, named after French speaking Swiss businessmen who arrived in the mid-19th Century to bring a little entrepreneurship to this then as now backwater river town, is still a remarkably historic storybook locale. The Café is housed in the former train depot, and sits alongside the D & R Canal State Park trail, and but 50 feet from the mighty Delaware River, with a glorious view of the long narrow green steel truss bridge to New Jersey. It is easy to understand why a dreamer and author would choose this burg to settle in long enough to complete a manuscript. The sense of peacefulness and agelessness are pervasive. It feels like the gateway to a Tolkien hobbit den. While food is a necessary part of existence, it is not the center of the experience I plug into here. Rather, sitting on the outside porch watching the river flow past, and its spirit flow within, dominates. But, the Café Burgers we consumed yesterday were substantial and tasty. The Whole Grain Bun, Romaine, Tomato, Red Onion and Pickle held together well. Along with the side of Fries, they filled us. BYOB if you wish. Decent looking sweets at the front counter might make a good companion to Small World Coffee brewed there. You could observe that the prices are higher than for similar offerings in less "touristy" spots. That is a fair comment, but this is one of those rare places where paying for atmosphere is a reasonable recognition that you are sitting in a rather remarkable place. read more

Frenchtown is an adorable place to walk around, and whenever I make the drive there I always stop at the Bridge Café for lunch. Located right on the Delaware River and just off the foot path that runs alongside it, they have both indoor and outdoor seating options and a large menu. My favorite dish is the giant grilled shrimp Greek salad with side of onion rings. They always have an assortment of specials, which I've found to be good as well. I recently tried the grilled vegetable and swiss cheese flatbread, which was delicious. If you're craving something sweet, they have plenty of baked goods at the front counter ranging from cookies to tarts to berry pies. They also have ice cream, though I've never tried it. Definitely a great option in town and a beautiful location right by the bridge! read more

We almost didn't go here because the reviews didn't seem that good. So, first, I will address that- I agree that the food was a little overpriced. However, I will concede because it seemed like most restaurants in the area had similar prices and this restaurant is on the river. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and our food was as to be expected. The food: We weren't that hungry, so we decided to split the Chicken club sandwich with Swiss and onion rings. We really liked the onion rings, and so we asked about them and found out that they buy them frozen, but that didn't change how good they were! We also shared a coconut/pineapple ice cream for dessert. Again, they don't make the ice cream on the premises, but it was very tasty and perfect for summer. read more

I have been the only Asian American patron of this restaurant for many years, and it saddens me and my family that I can no longer eat this mediocre food. One of the waiters was clearly on drugs. He forgot our order several times and had to return to the table to ask us everything again. We got our food, the cole slaw was a little too arrogant for our tastes. We asked for entirely different meals from what arrived and the waiter told us that the cook "had problems" and we were "lucky to get anything". Later in the service I spotted one of the cooks pulling his eyes back with his fingers in an obvious reference to my race. I will never return. I worked for Hirshhorn museum, in my 37 years as curator, You may say I've seen my fair share of art. Whoever is responsible for the things garishly mounting your walls, give up. Much hype about this homey cafe overlooking the river was a little bit inflated. We ate breakfast there. French toast was great: Apples and nuts made it like an apple pie for the A.M.! The "omelet" was more like a fritatta and made with three eggs (huge), so good value. Unfortunately, the spinach (appeared to be frozen spinach) was so dense and there was SO much of it, it sort of overpowered my dish. However, the lovely toasted multi-grain bread saved it!
