First time back in several years! Too busy trying out other pizza places when one if the best is close to our home. We have had a lot of very good pizzas from Clifton Park recently since family lives there BUT tonight we ordered from a place in Niskayuna that makes great pizzas! Since we are more interested in eating healthy, we are now going to get take out here more often -- our new go to place. The owner is committed to using quality organic beef, chicken, and vegetables. No hormones, antibiotics, or preservatives in ingredients! Bravo ---And the prices here are in line with other places that use lesser quality ingredients. It is Super Bowl night -- We ordered pizza and wings which were outstanding. The Chicken Spinach garlic round pizza was my favorite. Generous amount of quality toppings! Perfect crust and you could fold slice in half lengthwise NYC style! Not greasy!!! Hate when pizza needs to be blotted on top to remove visible oil slick. My grandsons enjoyed the pizza and wings and adults did as well. The wings were on dry side and crispy the way we like them. Cooked to perfection! The menu is extensive and includes variety of soups, subs, Italian dinners, salads, health drinks etc. for take out. Reviews of the catering menu are complimentary. Terrible food. Even worse customer service, actually no customer service. Tried multiple platforms to get ahold of the owner about an order that was absolutely rancid nd was ignored. My order was awful, nothing was edible. The mozzarella sticks were overcooked and hard. The items made with pizza dough all tasted sour like the dough had expired. I had to throw everything out. I tried several times to contact the restaurant. Called, emailed, fb messaged. I finally reached out to Slice and they contacted the restaurant and the owner told them that the order was made correctly. Maddendingly unhelpful, considering the accuracy of the order was never in question. I guess as long as they make the correct food the quality is irrelevant. read more

On a whim, I stopped here for pizza. Yum! Crispy bottom crust gives way to tender, chewy deliciousness. Flavorful sauce and just enough cheese but not too much to make it greasy. They have an extensive juice bar so you can detox after gorgeing yourself. I like that they had their wheat grass growing right on the counter. Lots of vegan protein powders to choose from. I am not a big juicer, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it alongside the pizza. And now for a confession: I have never had a canoli! So tonight I tried one. The first thing that struck me was the hint of cinnamon. OMG. Then there was the creamy, succulent filling. I gobbled it up and didn't take a picture. But it was great. They had cakes and cookies to try in the future. Pizza Buono is proud of their efforts to be healthy and green. They list everything on the wall; the only thing that really struck me as unique is they compost the kitchen scraps. They have upgraded their lights and offer whole wheat crust pizzas, among others. We're updating and elevating our review to four stars, now that we've tried the Sicilian, which had an excellent crust and showcased the tasty sauce a bit more, and the stromboli and calzone, both of which are unique among the pizza joints down the Upper Union Business Improvement District strip. Dearest Pizza Buono, You make tasty pizza! Hooray for that! My problem is with the service. What is the point of taking a customer's phone number when you take an order? One of the uses for it should be to notify the customer if there's a problem or delay with their order. I don't appreciate ordering a pizza 2.5 hours ahead of time, stating that I'll pick it up at 6:30pm, then arriving and paying to be told that it's going to be a 20 minute wait because it's just going in the oven now. I'm from Brooklyn, N.Y. and I'm a big pizza guy. I've been to all the good ones in NYC. From Gramaldi's to Totonos,to John's in the village to Di Fara in Brooklyn. This Pizza Buono must be the best kept secret in town! I've been going to this fine establishment for two years every time I'm in Schenectady, and they are as good as anyone of them I've mentioned above. Not only are the ingredients fresh, they use homemade mozzalla and a fresh dough everytime. The crust and the sauce is a perfect marriage of flavor. The price is also very affordable. My family of four can have a nice luch for under $20. Unheard of in NYC! I think the parking alone cost us $25 bucks. Also the decor is nicely done and the service alway friendly. They also keep the place real clean despite having almost no employees. (I can't figure this out, it must be some sort of magic.) This pizzeria is definitely a family affair. I think the owner operator/wife Christina runs the counter while the chef/husband make the masterpieces in the kitchen. Sometime you will even see their kids doing homework in the kitchen. They also have authentic italian dinners pre-made in the fridge that you can purchase. They have chicken parm , lasagna, baked ziti and eggplant parm. The price for these dishes are very reasonable too. $6.50 ea. or 2/$10.50. This culinary delight should be recognized more often because Schenectady does not know how good of a pizzeria they have and at what value! read more

Pepperoni pizza and medium wings prepared in a timely manner. Friendly over the phone and in person for pickup. The pizza was okay and the wings were middle of the road as well. As former patrons of homestyle pizza, we got tired of the inconsistent pizza and borderline rude staff at homestyle. So we gave pizza buono a shot, and now we're hooked. Frequent items of purchase are the sandwiches and salads. Every sandwich is well cooked (I get hot sandwiches) with a nice crunch on the bread. My favorites are the chicken parm, eggplant parm, and steak sandwich. The steak is a steak, veg, and marinara style steak, with tender, lean meat and nicely cooked veggies. My wife often orders salads, and has enjoyed them every time. Fresh vegetables, always made to order, delicious all around. House dressing is quite good. The portions are solid for the price all around. I have had the pizza probably 4 or 5 times, and I do enjoy it more than most of the pizzas in the nisky area. The cook on the crust is always good and always consistent. The toppings do not come from a can, they are all fresh and we'll cooked (mushroom pizza is never wet!!!). Home style is the place to be for Niskayuna pizza, subs, and salads. They have a healthy and still delicious take on their offerings and it is well enjoyed by my whole family. The only downside: they have been randomly closed on days where they are supposed to be open, and they don't post it on their facebook. My recommendation is to call ahead if you're looking to drop in on a Sunday, that tends to be the most questionable day. read more

The pizza here sucks in my personal opinion. If your really looking for an awesome pizza close to here go the little extra distance to get Paulie's pizza. The one woman who works there is sweet but she was the only one. Other then that, the customer service is terrible. Will never come back. You could not pay me enough to, if we're being honest. We got the 8 cut Buono Supreme and it was delicious!! Great crust, sauce, REAL sausage, and not at all greasy! The owner, Christina?, was very nice, welcoming, and the place was really clean! There were tables if you wanted to eat in as well as a refridgerated case as you walked in that had homemade italian specialties like lasagna, etc as well as salads and potato salad. As I entered this establishment I was totally confused, there were menu boards everywhere. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken for myself and a slice of cheese pizza for my daughter.....I was charged $19!!!! The pizza was gross.... dry, burned, and tasted sour. I have been coming to Pizza Buono consistently for almost four years. They have the best pizza in the region using fresh quality ingredients. I'm thinking (hoping and praying) it was an off day. Really off. New pizza cook? I called to place an order and asked whether they use red onions on a pizza. I love onions. I love red onions. But for the life of me, I care not for red onions on a pizza. Dude: "Well, I'm not sure." Can you ask? Dude: "It's kind of busy tonight." ?? Too busy to ask about the kind of onions used? The woman helping him was delightful, and we exchanged pleasantries. She appeared competent, and so I don't think she made my pizza. I'm unable to review or comment on the food at pizza buono because poor customer service prevented me from doing so. I just recently moved to the area and was very excited to try out their juice bar. I walk in and see a large group of young college girls there waiting to decide on what juice or smoothie they wanted so rather than being rude and cutting in front of them I waited. I waited about 15 minutes while the 2 employees made the 6 smoothies. Then as the employee rings out the girls I start to order my juice when she interrupts me and says that the juice bar is closed for another 2 hours. Never said a peep while I stood there patiently. And all she said as an excuse was because they are having a party and then mumbles a weak sorry - well don't you think that if you could serve 6 girls in front of me you could've served one more??? I've never been that rudely ignored and then been given a poor excuse on why they couldn't serve me. I hope their food is better than their customer service as unfortunately I will never try it. I love my pizza. You'd think, with all of the pizza joints aroung I'd find many that are amazing and meet my expectations for flavor and consistency. I've eaten at most of the joints in the area and some are good but none are as good as Pizza Buono. Why? Lets start with the crust. Almost every other pizza i've eaten in the area, the dough sits in your stomach like a brick and I always feel kind of sick from the density of the crust. Pizza Buono has a knack for preparing the crust to be light and airy but not so airy its like French Bread pizza. The crust is always crispy and the density of the dough seems perfect. The flavor of the crust is excellent IMO. Now the sauce. what can I say...it just tastes like good home-made Italian pizza sauce, like I used to have as a child growing up in a traditional Italian family. Perfect IMO. During lunch time the counter pizza is amazing, especially when you crisp it up by asking them to reheat it slighly in the pizza oven. This is my favorite pizza joint of all time. However, what has kept me from assigning 4 stars in this review, is the counter pizza late in the day, getting on toward dinner time. IMO, fresh slice pizza should be made and the lunch pizza should be discarded because it has been sitting too long. I think one of the reviewers above had encountered this on his first visit and this is why he wasn't thrilled with the pizza. I have spoken to the owner regarding this issue and he agreed...they're making fresh counter pizza for the evening hours. If this is the case...I give this place 5 stars! read more
