The caesar dressing was oily and very thin/runny and the creamy dijon was too acidic and the dijon was overpowering. This is a unique, nice spot in Greenville serving up probably over 25 different types of brick oven pizzas. They also have a make your own option, as well as some entrees and shareable appetizers. This place is large, spacious, vintage-looking and has such a great environment. The staff was very friendly and offered great suggestions for different types of pizzas to make up. This is not your ordinary pizza place - it is so much more! The space is incredibly huge and charismatic. There are portraits of famous Elizabeths like Elizabeth Taylor and the Queens! Each pizza is the last name of a famous Elizabeth. The menu is funky and creative. The salads and pizzas have items I'd never imagine to be put together. You can bring a party of 10 and everyone would be satisfied. In addition to pizzas and salads, they have main entrees and apps like shrimp tacos and flatbreads. The ambiance is wide open with unique accents across the lounge area, bar, main room and the pass along the pizza oven. Food was excellent with high quality ingredients in every dish. The chicken salad we had was delicious and reminded me of coronation chicken from England. The pizza was perfectly cooked, and the dough is definitely undersalted, but good consistency. Service was good but not above and beyond. The toffee served with the check was a lovely touch. Overall I would happily return, and a perfect brunch spot. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with family at their recommendation. The place was very cute and had a live band going for brunch. We were seated quickly and a server came over to take our drinks. The place wasn't busy when we were in, but it appeared only a couple of wait staff were taking care of the whole place. Because of this, it did take a bit to get drinks. Once the drinks came, I did enjoy my pomegranate mojito. Also enjoyed the breadsticks as an appetizer; the mushroom duxelles sauce was delicious. My partner and I shared a salad and pizza for our mains. The curried chicken salad was their version of a coronation chicken. It was very tasty and came in an enormous portion. Our pizza was a create your own with the standard crust and original tomato sauce topped with mozzarella, blackened chicken, eggplant saute, and roasted mushrooms. The portions on all the toppings were very generous, including close to a whole large chicken breast worth of chicken. I wasn't a huge fan of the crust. It's likely because I just prefer a standard NY style instead of artisan pizza, but it was rather grainy in texture. With the bill, they gave a sample of their toffee, which was some of the best I've ever had. Would've brought a box back with me if my luggage wasn't full! I'm the past month my husband and I have been here twice for pizzas! My coworker recommended this place and we loved it. We have gotten different pizzas each time and they really are elite :) the quality of ingredients and the crust from cooking in their ovens makes the pizzas amazing. They also have a great kids menu with this good grilled cheese pizza that our daughter loves. Service is also really good and I love all the Elizabeth decor inside! Love this little spot! The breadsticks are always a hit. The basil pesto dipping sauce is a must try. The crab pretzel was delicious- definitely more crab than pretzel but no complaints here! Went to lunch on a Saturday for a girls lunch. This was my first time here. One of our friends has frequented this place. It's a bit eclectic in decor. Modern meets comfy cozy chic. There's a very large open pizza oven and we were seated within close proximity. I watched as the pizzas were pulled out on a long handled pizza paddle and slid to a waiting staffer to cut and plate in wait for the waitress to pick up & deliver to her tables. We didn't order pizza on this very frigid cold day but opted for soup & salads. I got the chicken noodle soup. I wasn't impressed. It was a cup of chopped (overkill of) carrots with some broth, empty of flavor and chunks of chicken. It certainly wasn't canned but just lacked that chickeny flavor. I got the small Caesar salad with chicken and shrimp. Although the ingredients were very fresh & of good quality I would have preferred my shrimp grilled and the same for my chicken chunks. They looked boiled? The homemade Caesar dressing along with the chicken & shrimp were very bland. Perhaps I just chose the wrong menu items but I was not impressed with my meal. My companions seemed happy with theirs. (Perhaps I should have ordered the tomato soup) There were many dessert options; I ordered the two chocolate chip oatmeal cookies to go. They too, were somewhat non descript in taste. (And no my taste buds were working just fine). Our waitress was very pleasant and the restaurant was quite busy so service wasn't super quick. (We were there two hours). I was told this place has live entertainment at certain times and the place gets hopping. I may give it another chance and just order the pizza. That said, there is a multitude of choices of pizza. It's a super thin crust style pizza. Honestly what I viewed throughout our visit was a variety of toppings that became one with the very crisp crust. Almost looked over cooked? They serve beer, wine & cocktails too. I noticed they had a separate room for parties & a bar area when you enter. It's part of a strip mall/complex & it doesn't have an obvious entrance. You have to tackle some stairs because they are on the second floor of this shopping arena . I didn't see an elevator. So don't know if it's handicap accessible. Tucked away in Greenville Center, just a stone's throw from Winterthur and the Delaware Museum of Natural History, Pizza by Elizabeths' location alone makes it a handy stopover after a strenuous afternoon of cultural osmosis. And, yes, this is not a typo; you are reading correctly. It is Pizza by Elizabeths. Proprietors Elizabeth LeRoy and Elizabeth Snyder thought it might be fun to pay homage, not only to their own given names, but also to the famous Elizabeths of the past and present. One glance at the establishment's website and you're bound to be impressed - I certainly was. Words like "sophisticated," "intriguing," "casual elegance," "fresh, all-natural," and "step-above service" are freely bandied about, along with photographs of the restaurant's tea room-looks-like-it-was-designed-by-Martha Stewart décor lovingly bathed in soft, filtered light. Wow! "How did I manage to miss this one?" I kept asking myself. But looks - and websites - can be deceiving. Things are not always what they appear to be. And, despite a plethora of kudos by the media, Pizza by Elizabeths is a bundle of contradictions - culinary and otherwise. But first, let's talk about the food... The cuisine here, for lack of a more exciting adjective, is generally "decent." It can, however, like other aspects of this particular eatery, be somewhat hit or miss. Choosing wisely has its rewards; choosing poorly definitely has its punishments. So, let's start with the pizza, Elizabeths' claim to fame. Recently, seated at the bar, my dining companion and I shared a 7-inch pie. And it was certainly acceptable... But we had both sampled better for less at numerous other establishments. No question, given the quality of the pizzas, I definitely consider them (and a number of other menu items) overpriced. And, if you'll pardon the automotive analogy, should you decide to take the "make your own pizza" route, you'll also find yourself paying optional extra prices for what should be standard equipment. The only standard equipment is the crust. Everything else - including sauce and cheese - is considered an extra selection. So, if you want a pizza with two toppings - say, pepperoni and onions - you're already at four selections and will end up paying the higher price... A bit of a con jobus maximus in my book. Among other menu items, "variable" is the word that immediately comes to mind. You certainly can luck out and be treated to a good meal here... But the kitchen can also be wildly inconsistent; and since the specials' menu changes weekly, you're never quite sure what the cooking minions may be prone to screw up. When it comes to entrée choices, the chicken potpie - although it lacks the characteristic creaminess of this American classic - is quite good; the lasagna - rich, rich, rich and loaded with cheese - is better; but the crab cakes, in my opinion, constitute the best main course the kitchen has yet to turn out... Although, the chef would do well to deep-six the accompanying spicy soy vinaigrette, which only succeeds in overwhelming the delicate flavor of the crab... But the most highly recommended presentations are undoubtedly the salads. The greenery is fresh and crisp, the accoutrements well chosen, and all may be ordered in either appetizer or entrée portions. Desserts, on the other hand, were, well, yes... "variable." There's that word again. The peanut butter pie drizzled with chocolate sauce and the peach pound cake were both outstanding. On the other hand, the lemon-blueberry layer cake was either still recovering from an incomplete cryogenic resuscitation or suffering the deleterious effects of an extended exile in the nether regions of the fridge. Regardless of the reason, both taste and texture (or lack thereof) were extremely suspect. Then there's the cleanliness issue. This is a touchy subject; but I can only relate what I have personally experienced. On our first visit, as we settled in at the bar, we couldn't help but notice a profusion of crumbs beneath the chairs... plus several layers of dust on the chairs themselves, indicating that they had not been cleaned in some time. There were additional crumbs under tables in the dining room, as well as crumbs and dust on several windowsills. In the men's room, there was what looked like grease or dirt on the baseboard molding. I should mention that all of the above were noted at about 5:30 p.m., during the "happy hour" and start of the dinner service, when the restaurant should have been spotless. And, like most diners, if I observe these kinds of lapses in cleanliness in the restaurant's public areas, I can't help but wonder what issues may lurk in other parts of the establishment that are not open to public view. read more

Been here many times and always good, except today. Don't get me wrong, the food was fantastic, but our service was awful (first time this has happened here). We--literally 2 people--waited 10+ minutes for our server to even come over to greet us. Keep in mind, she had our table, the one next to us, and was sharing a medium-sized party. It wasn't busy. She then proceeds to completely ghost us. She walked past and "asked" how the food was, but before I could even answer, "good, great." She wasn't even the one bringing us our food. Then, time to pay the check. My boyfriend didn't have a whole lot of cash because he wasn't expecting it to be $60+, so he did not have much for a tip. She asks if we want the change back, we say no and also give her $2 tip (we would've gotten more cash from my car but she really barely served us). Server leaves and comes back, giving us the tip back (not even the change). Enjoy the 25 cents I guess. She gives my boyfriend the rudest, fakest look and smile ever, and walks off. Nothing said. We weren't rude to her, so I have no idea what her problem was. I get the low tip thing, but that's not the way to treat people because you're upset. I shared the pepperoni/sausage brick oven pizza with a friend and thought it was ok, but lacked in spices. The service was good and ambiance is super cute. I took a nice relative to this restaurant for her birthday lunch. We ate outside by a warm heat lamp that a kind man from the restaurant setup outside. I had a crab cake salad, that was very excellent. The service was great and outside was clean. I am not a big pizza fan, and it was great that I had several salads to choose from. When we first entered the restaurant, we had to walk through a partially enclosed outdoor eating area which was designed nicely. What they got right: Upon entering the indoor eating area we were greeted with nice live music from a band playing on one side of the entrance. We had to continue to walk further to the host's desk. The decor is classy without being pretentious and cozy but spacious. I had a pizza that I designed myself (great option to have) and I chose this delicious honey wheat crust that was super light, thin and airy, very flavorful sauce, mozzarella cheese and sautéed elephant as a topping. I also had a salad I designed myself with field greens, balsamic vinaigrette (their version of it is delicious) topped with blackened chicken (in retrospect I should've ordered my pizza topped with blackened chicken because it was so good when I tasted it in the salad. My husband got a French onion pizza (I think) topped with beef along with a bowl of French onion soup that came with it. They use a wood fire oven, so we knew we were in for a treat even before we ate. Our server was friendly and helpful too btw. What they need to work on: Although patrons know that pizza will be the main offering (it's in the name of course), it would be nice if they added on a few more menu items like bread (which would compliment the salad and soup nicely) and perhaps more meats as topping choices and appetizers. Also, we stood at the hosts' desk for a really long time before anyone acknowledged us. When she finally came to the desk she didn't really welcome us or apologize for the wait. They have added some new extra selections since I last ate here. Such as sliders, crabcakes, and beet salad. The sliders are done well, but the beet salad they need to go back to the drawing board. You can hardly taste the beets. I really do love this place, but there are just a few things they should work on. One of the waitresses (she may have been a manager), was helping out serving the tables. However, while she was at the chef counter, she pulled her hair out of the ponytail and redid it over food and then handled food without gloves on. That was disturbing to me. otherwise, my sliders were good and our waitress, perfect. read more

I've eaten at Pizza by Elizabeth three times now. It's a very convenient place to meet friends and the ambience is nice. That said, I find many things on their menu to be hit or miss. For example, they do this amazing flatbread with blackberries, goat cheese, and honey that is so good, but several of their pizzas are underwhelming. (Lack of sauce, cheese, and toppings makes you wonder why you're paying for an overpriced pizza.) If they have a special pizza, it's worth getting, because they seem to make the specials extra special. But if you create your own, prepare to find it lacking. Just saying... And prepare for up-charges. Let's say you want onions added to a small salad. Well, that's an extra dollar. It's a bit much. read more

Ambiance is superb. Classy inside and open layout. Before walking into the restaurant, there is an outside area with trees and fountain which is beautiful. The service was excellent. I did not like my first drink which was the aperol spritz, and they changed it for me with no problem to the pomegranate martini. Usually, the aperol spritz is not as sweet to my knowledge. The crust and thinness of the pizza was just the way I like it. However, of all 6 pizzas we ordered, I did not like their flavors or toppings. The fig on paste one was way too sweet. Wish it would have been real figs just cut up. The pepperonis were cut up. I would say either have the tiny pepperonis that curl upwards after being heated, regular or big size pepperoni. Why cut them up? The Shannon one with lump crab meat was just not impressive in flavor. The chicken with mushroom sauce was so dense in flavor. Whenever I'm in town, I HAVE to have Pizza By Elizabeth's. They have indoor and outdoor seating (very socially distanced). I'd recommend making a reservation, especially during peak lunch or dinner time. My menu favorites are the artichoke and crab dip, spinach and artichoke dip, the breadsticks (you can't beat them), seafood salad, Queen pizza, Saint pizza, Jackson pizza, and Davis pizza. Or, I'll make my own pizza, they have a huge selection of toppings, sauces, etc. read more

My wife and I have come here a couple of times for individual dining (multiple times during 2024), and had a catered rehearsal dinner in May 2024. Each time we have been impressed with the quality of the service, the quality of the food, and the drinks available. When organizing the rehearsal dinner, the restaurant worked with us and was very helpful. Brandy was the event coordinator, and she was very good at her job. I do recommend taking a look at the menu they send you before any meetings with the event coordinator, it helped our event planning go smoothly. There are a bunch of options that satiated the meat-eaters and vegetarians alike during catered and individual dining. The interior is eclectic in design, and we found that quite fun. Depending on if there is an event going on, it can be a bit loud, but we found that this didn't detract from our experience at all.
