We came to dine in and are thrilled with the food and the people who make up Pizza by George! We had the garlic knots and pepperoni rolls with two nice salads that aren't just full of iceberg but real mixed greens... then we had three large pizzas with everything from the classic cheese, to gourmet white and a bacon combo too... the crusts are thin but not too crispy, the cheese is gooey and yummy and the sauce that binds them is spot on!!! They used to be good just a few short years ago. The past 2 times we've ordered from them (a few months apart) have been terrible. I'm not sure if they have someone new making the pizzas or they just don't care anymore. We got garlic & hamburger pizza. They just lazily plopped huge globs of both onto the pizza, but surprise! There's even MORE garlic under the cheese! There has to be close to 3 full bulbs (not just cloves). It's absolutely insane. It hasn't always been like this, we've had garlic on our pizza from them many times when we lived in town and it was delicious. At least half the pizza is inedible. I shared a couple photos to show I'm not exaggerating. This might have been the last time we order from them. After last time we waited a few months because the garlic was just as bad- even had big chunks of garlic clove under the cheese. We had bacon as well that time & they just threw strips of bacon on top of the pizza. They don't chop it up or crumble it, it's just full slices. We thought it was just bad luck, looks like they're just not good anymore. They thankfully didn't screw up the plain cheese pizza we got for the kids. I'm giving this place a one star review because i specifically ordered a calzone with half cheese like i usually do and one of the employees who answered the phone was giving me a hard time about it. Saying it couldn't be done even though I've ordered it this way multiple times for a reason. Some of my family members are lactose intolerant and can not with stand cheese. The calzone i opened up was covered in cheese inside and on top. I had to go somewhere else because the women who answered was so rude over the phone. It wasn't worth my time arguing. Not the best service. Called in a pizza for pickup, arrived 30 minutes later to have the woman at desk tell me there was no order in my name. She then asked me if I spoke to a guy or a girl when I said girl she proceeded to tell me that "she was the only girl working and didn't take an order from me so that I must called the wrong place". Thinking I had messed up I hit redial on my cell and the phone next to her rang. She snarled at me that it would be about 10 minutes and walked away. The pizza was decent but not good to compensate for their employees. I'll take her advice and order elsewhere next time. read more

Bad, bad badddddddd. So I usually order from Pizza by George once or twice a month, sometimes more depending.. and I usually order two large pies - and they are HUGE! Big problem: I ordered two small pies because we had less people at the house. I order 2 pies, the kid writes down one. I have my daughter go pick up the pies so then she has to wait for the other pie. Well, when she got home, I almost flipped, well, I did. The pies were SMALLER THAN A FRIGGIN TOMBSTONE PIZZA YOU CAN GET AT HANNAFORD ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE PIZZA SHOP! Literally, the size of my husbands hand was the size of their SMALL pizza. I brought both pies back and told them I wanted my money back. Each pie was $7 plus tax and they also wanted the SAME price for toppings, no matter if they are on a small/med/large pie. Thats NUTS. I asked what was up with the size of the pie and the chick behind the counter told me, they recently changed their menu and I may have an old one - and that the small pie, has gotten smaller. I made her aware that the size pie she was selling as a small, was really a PERSONAL SIZE PIZZA. The entire pie equaled out to TWO SLICES! So $7 for two slices??!?!?!?!??! I got my money back and I went to Louie's down the street. Never again will they get my business. read more

Woah. The pizza by the slice spread is amazing! Lattice top and "stuffed" pizza, plus your normal NY style. They had traditional toppings, and also choices like BBQ Steak & Onion, Parmesan Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken with bacon & pineapple. Knots, pepperoni wheels, calzones... or just order a pizza. The crust was perfectly chewy and delicious. The owner came over to visit our table and was so kind to our kids and gave a little history of the place. If you are driving on the 101 and looking for some great food totally check this place out for sure. Right off of the freeway, exit 5 I believe diagonally across from Hannafords grocery. I had no idea what to expect, my folks recommended it to me but my husband and I loved it! I was so excited for a good ole New England sub. WOO HOO. I ordered the small veggie sub and was not disappointed! All the veggies were fresh, the cheese to bread ration worked for me, and the fresh Italian bread was super. Why haven't these types of subs caught on anywhere outside of NE? Sigh....I also decided to try out a few other items, planning to bring all the leftovers to our hotel. I was just in my glory when I walked in and saw all the slices and other goodies that were available. I snagged a big ole slice of cheese pizza and this very cool garlic bread twist. All were so delicious, especially the next day! The pizza was a bit too greasy but it sure did taste good. My husband tried a stromboli for the first time and a pepperoni roll. He loved both of them but agreed that it was a bit too greasy but still so good. Thank goodness I don't live near there though, I don't think my jeans could handle that rapid an expansion due to the fattening food. Kudos to my folks on that one, good recommendation. read more

This pizza shop has a serious customer service problem and they know what it is. They are short-handed and quality help isn't as plentiful as small business owners would hope. Phone customers have a significantly better chance of being served than walk-ins. Why then am I awarding 5-stars? For good reason: While complaining today about again having my in-store order cut off midstream while the clerk rushed to answer not one but three customer phone orders, I had had enough. I asked for the manager, a polite and patient gentleman but not terribly effective at addressing my issue. Seated while waiting for my order, Joe, the owner, asks to sit across from me. He listened to my complaints and then stayed for another ten-minutes while he talked about his business, the difficulty finding and keeping good workers, and food. His family started Pizzeria Regina and later Polcari's, both establishments of which I've eaten and Yelped. He's not a novice. This owner cared about what I had to say. He was interested in why I have continued to eat at his pizza shop even though I've experienced not so good customer service. This type of customer/owner interaction doesn't happen enough. Joe receives an extra star for agreeing with me that 900 Degrees in Epping serves substandard pizza. I threw in that the owner is a clueless and arrogant woman who doesn't understand how to make good pizza nor her customers. Joe didn't have an immediate solution to my problem with his restaurant; but, he does ack that the problem exists and that's half the battle. He also serves good pasta with a tasty tomato gravy that is generously portioned. I'll continue to go back while he works on the issue because the food is that good and he cares that much. We have tried a number of places in Raymond and we have found that Pizza by George offers the best pizza - great crust, great toppings, and great value. We always buy a little extra, just to have a few slices we can put in the freezer. They also make an awesome antipasto. It is huge and has a lot of meat, probably as much as (or more than) a large sub. The antipasto comes with a variety of ingredients on a bed of dark greens. No iceberg lettuce here. read more

So, I'm local to this restaurant and have eaten here more times than I can count. I have read the reviews and can't say I agree with many of them. I have tried most everything on the menu to some extent and, in my opinion, the food is well above expected. The salads are great. The subs are huge and delicious. The pizza is crazy good. There is nothing that I have ever tried that was unacceptable or below expectations. I will say that the prices are at the top of the "pizza place" range - any higher and I would go somewhere else. But, right now this is the best pizza and sub place in the area without a doubt. I highly recommend! read more

George's has overall great pizza. Only once have we gotten a not-so-good cheese pizza from them - 1/10 aint bad! One great thing I should mention, is when they made a slight mistake, they made up for it - BIG TIME! We ordered 2 large pizzas: 1/2 hawaiian, 1/2 cheese. 1/2 cheese, 1/2 "the works" They accidentally made one of those pizzas entirely "the works" instead of 1/2 1/2. They just gave us a 3rd whole large cheese pizza, on the house. And it was hot and ready only a minute after I arrived to pick them up. I was beyond happy! What an awful place this is. I shot back here recently with my girlfriend to grab a quick bite before we hit the road. She got a slice of pizza and I ordered a veggie sub. Not complicated you'd think. They only had to reheat her slice and they gave it to her lukewarm as it hadn't been heated properly. Nothing hits the the spot like lukewarm ricotta and eggplant. The veggie sub I ordered took 15 minutes to come out and when I got it, the bread was paste white and ice cold and had obviously just come out of the fridge, but hadn't even been heated before the veggies were put in it. I came here for lunch today, I just started working in the area and was looking for a good sandwich / pizza shop. When I walked in I was greeted by all of the staff and specifically the owner. They were all a delightful and very pleasant bunch. All of the different calzones and stuff were on display and they went thru and explained what was in what. I ordered a pepperoni roll (small ball of dough cheese and pepperoni) AMAZING! And a BLT. Also amazing!! While waiting for my food I had friendly convo with the owner who ended up telling me my next meal is free. My food took like 3 minutes to be ready. HUGE large subs and huge large pizzas. The food we find to be consistently good. Their bacon pizza is strips of bacon which I don't love versus when it's crumbled, but that's just personal preference.
