    Pepperoni pizza!
    Meg P.

Artisan sourdough crust stretched thin, topped with simple, quality organic ingredients by the masterful hands of a pizza expert. I'm telling you, this is what makes the pizza cart in the corner of this food truck village your next pizza destination. Crust on both- very thin, crispy edges and charring from the sick pizza oven they somehow stuffed in a food truck (thankful they did). Standard "Pepperoni" - smaller pepperoni kind that shrink and get deliciously crispy edges and tiny pools of greasy gold, not the oversized sloppy soggy stuff you see at big chains! Zippy red sauce where you can still see tomato, uncomplicated with excessive sugar or spices. "Ricotta-Arugula" - my inner dialogue had me thinking "this sourdough crust is already a winner so let's take fresh arugula and toss it in lemon and high quality olive oil to throw on top...." ...."wait this has ricotta too!!!" So damn good I couldn't postpone that first bite to take a picture and before I knew it, it was gone before the camera was out! Don't let the chill demeanor of the pizza guy (owner?) make you think you're getting a chill product. I could see him remaking something that didn't fit his high standards (not wasted but consequently gifted to a gentleman walking by looking for scraps) and this is why they refuse to serve bad batches of dough. A business that refuses to put out subpar items can only mean you're guaranteed quality (also very cool I got to experience a worker doing a small-time kindness for an individual who was obviously down on his luck). Check em out!

It's really all about that crust and the char on the underside. It gives that little extra to a slice of pizza. Now, I've written many reviews of pizza in this town, with many getting "Review of the Day". I may know a thing or two about it. Pizza Creature came out of nowhere to me. Until I started coming up to Lombard on a semiregular basis (it's football season and Lombard House is across the street) I didn't know of their existence and I'm glad that only three carts were open this past Monday evening, because I probably wouldn't have glanced at them. This is as legit at Pizza Thief or Dimo's and they are doing it on a cart. In an article a while back, the owner of Dimo's mentioned that a Margharita pizza is the best way to judge if a place will have good pizza. I've always done it by whether a pizza place has fresh garlic pies. Pizza Creature has a white pizza for only $10. All pizzas are 12" pies. This one was loaded with slices of garlic, dollops of creamy ricotta and mozzarella to finish it off. As I post this, I'm eating the leftovers cold, and it's still good. All pizzas are done with a sourdough crust (like the former Pizza Doughnais used to do) and that char on the bottom adds that nice sour touch to enhance the pungent garlic. I was also able to try a slice of an eggplant pizza that is on the menu that had two unusual ingredients not normally on pizza. Walnuts and Harissa. The eggplant was beautiful, the walnuts, texture and the harissa, just a little zing. So good. If you live in the area, you have a great place to visit for pies, if not, then make a trip up here once in a while. Grab a beer from the St. Johns Beer Porch and enjoy some zah. Support local. Enjoy.

What does a pizza look like? This, exactly this, put it in a book and label it. This is pizza.

Do you know what pizza is? This is pizza. Not premade, not standardized, handmade, tastes like it has lived a life, that whatever it was made from became what it is now. This is what it is supposed to be. Cupping pepperoni, a fire that cooked it, flour developed by sourdough and started the crust. If you want domino's pizza, go be boring.

Ordered a pepperoni pizza and absolutely loved it. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is the price. $17+ (including the 20% gratuity) for a single personal pizza is just too steep for me to justify coming back here. Very good pizza, but just a but outside the price range I want for a food truck visit for 1.

I came here for dinner yesterday and ordered the mushroom pizza and Caesar salad. The staff warned me it'd be about a 45-minute wait, so I walked around the neighborhood, and when I came back the order ready shortly after I returned. I took the food and ate at a nearby park, and I really enjoyed the Ceasar salad. The dressing had a nice balance of savory, funky, and tart. I also liked that it included baby kale. The pizza was also very delicious, and confirmed I'm a sucker for roasted garlic. My only small qualm was the spreading of the toppings lacked consistency. There wasn't very much kale, and the mushrooms were sort of globbed together (vs. evenly spread). Again, not a big deal, but just noting a preference. FYI, for those with anxiety, the pod is taking extra (and REASONABLE) precautions around covid (table seating is assigned, extra sanitizing, one entrance one exit). I was already a little anxious (not related to covid/the pod) before coming here and felt that the unique procedures ratcheted up my anxiety. I'm thinking about returning to try another cart, and will make sure I'm grounded before entering the space. Don't forget to tip the pod-service staff!

I happened to stumble across this foodcart and I'm very glad I did. This might be my new favorite pizza place, super friendly, great service and the pizza is phenomenal. It all starts with the crust, and the pizza creature crust is the perfect mix of soft and chewy with just the right amount of char from the woodfire. The toppings are generous and it's not too greasy, the exact right amount. I would highly recommend this to anyone! They are very vegan friendly too.

Damn! Excellent Za! Pepperonis on point. Crust on point. Ceaser on point. I'll be back for sure. Thanks!

Ricotta arugula pizza - so good I forgot to get a picture before we dove in.

We came here and ordered the ricotta arugula pizza and added seitan pepperoni and WOW - delicious!!!! And the sourdough crust was fantastic!!!

Me and my significant eater visited Pizza Creature after not being completely full by a shared meal. We picked a new place in the food pods based on playing "what here are you dying to try?" We landed on the pepperoni. And it. Was. Awesome. Currently in the days of Covid-19 precautions the seating is limited (awesome), masks are required (rad), touch less payments and cards are preferred (keep yo grubby cash), and the entrances/exits have been limited (eeeexcellent). Do you see the little tiny pepperonis? They're perfectly spaced. Did you notice that they're not haphazardly tossed, one atop the other, like a freaking monster but rather delicately placed with thought for each bite having a pepperoni?! Maybe you're a "perfect bite" connoisseur too and I don't sound totally insane right meow. Right now. Yes... The crust. Oh god. The crust. If all the toppings slid off I'd be sad, but I wouldn't die because the crust is LOVE. I worked summers in NYC in my youth and worked right next to a little pizzeria that was my defacto lunch spot. The crust here is reminiscent of the handmade, thin, FOLDABLE (!!!!) crust circa the NYC pizza days. I literally ate myself overly fully because I just wanted to feel the crust in my mouth. I'm not proud of what I've done, but I wore stretchy pants so what I'm saying is I made the right life choices and come fight me for the last piece, bro. I'm all jazzed up on perfectly spaced pepperoni and MOMMAS COMMIN' FOR DAT CRUST.

I recently came to this food cart pod to eat and most of the carts were closed. I honestly picked Pizza Creature just because it was open. I ordered their special which was heirloom tomatoes, pesto, and lotsss of cheese and holy moly it was so good and SO beautiful. Look at the pictures I have included. It's a seriously pretty pie. I have a thing for wood fired crust and this is THE BEST I have had in Portland. It had the perfect char, was amazingly chewy, and had nice flavor. 10/10 and will be back!

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

Overall, I thought it was a really solid New York-style slice. Thin, foldable crust, a nice crunch on the bottom, and a chewy interior--exactly what I look for in a classic slice. The cheese and toppings tasted fresh, and I especially appreciated that they offer half slices, which made it easy for my husband and me to try a few different varieties without committing to full slices. That said, I think my expectations may have been a little too high going in. The pizza was definitely good, but I wasn't quite blown away the way I expected to be based on all the hype. For me, the cheese were the weakest part--wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't stand out compared to some of the other pizza spots we've visited around the country.
