Quick lunch. Great service at the counter. Young man at the counter was very helpful. They actually only have one size pizza and was the right amount for the two of us. Pepperoni seemed a little salty, but still tasty. Pizza crust was great and tasted very much like the pizza we have at the Academy Theater, and that's a good thing. We'll be coming back soon!

Obviously I got to the pizza too late. Pretty darn tasty

This past Thursday my pharmacy manager authorized us to pick up some happy hour pizzas for lunch. Obviously i haven't experienced the Pizzaria in person quite yet, but the pizza was pretty decent. The crust was very thin. Thinner and less structured than New York style in my opinion however the crust had good flavor and chew. Definitely a good deal for 9.99 a pie.

Some friends took me here to celebrate my birthday. I had a great time, the employees were super nice, fun atmosphere. We started with a Caesar salad, which was huge, enough for all five of us to have some with some leftover. It seemed very authentic, it had a very light dressing, parmesan shavings and anchovies on top of it. I really enjoyed it. The pizza? Well, I would have to say okay, but not great. I had the sausage with broccolini, it was decent but not a wow. The crust on all the pizzas seemed sort of floppy. My friend got Hawaiian, I had never tried it, so I did. Not a fave. Another friend got the pizza with balsamic, prosciutto and arugula. Pretty good, but still not a wow. One friend pointed out that they were very busy and probably rushing the pizzas. She brought a few slices home to her hubby. He air fried them and they were much better as they were crispy and the crust was good. I might go again, but the best pizza I've had in town was Apizza Scholls and Sizzle Pie, not here.

Atmosphere: Small little restaurant with about 10 tables to eat at. Also a few outdoor tables. No TV's at this location. Food: Tasty Neapolitan style pizza. I went with the Margherita Happy Hour special. Maybe a little too much crust, but overall good. My only thing with Neapolitan pizzas is that they all taste so similar it is hard to really stand out from the rest. Price: Great deal on the Margherita for happy hour. $9 during Happy Hour times. Service: Walk up to order, but the staff was friendly and helpful when I asked them how long it would be. Parking: Street parking. Was able to find a spot in front.

Happy hour is a must for that delicious margarita pizza for $9!! The Cesar is the best and one small can feed 3 people.

Pizzeria Otto is soooo good. I have been back many times with my family. It is a self service kind of place but the staff are friendly.

Solid Neopolitan wood fired pizza. The crust and quality of ingredients are really the stars of the pizza. I could see some people thinking it is a little pricey for what you get, but the prices are pretty standard for this type of pizza and quality. One pizza is enough for one person. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

A super casual pizza place with an awesome wood fire oven in the back. My girlfriend has just gotten back from Italy, and she says it tastes just like the Italian pizza. We got a Hawaiian, and the pizza is super light and flavorful. Light cheese, and super bright tomato sauce. Service was polite and fast. Would highly recommend, some of my favorite pizza to date

Consistently good pizza with a great Margherita pizza special. You order at the counter and have to bus your table. We have eaten here a number of times over the years and it's a good place to stop after picking hungry or hangry people up from the airport.

Love this location, super chill at lunch! Nice lunch special for a margarita pizza. Caesar salad is delish! The only room for improvement is the hot oil wasn't not remotely spicy to either my friend or I. That said, pizza is fabulous, service is quick and kind!

The staff at Pizzeria Otto set a super high bar for our adventure in Portland. Everyone was so kind and helpful. We asked for recommendations and we ended up ordering the beet and pear salad and tribunali pizza. The salad considered it roasted beets, pears, arugula and greens, gorgonzola, candied hazelnuts, and a shallot vinaigrette. It was perfection. I live for a nice salad especially with pears and gorgonzola, but the beets and hazelnuts made this out of this world! The pizza was full of Italian sausage, broccoli raab, and water buffalo mozzarella (which is outstanding if you have never tried it). The pizza was amazing. It was just what we needed. So a sidenote. The restaurant is small. There were a few larger tables to accommodate four people and several tables for two. My boyfriend overheard a family that was waiting for a table to open up and he offered our table and we moved to a smaller table. They were so thankful as was the restaurant staff. They used us a round of drinks, but we were so tired from the travel that we declined. So they sent us with a free beers to go. They didn't have to do this and we were not expecting anything at all. This just showed the kind of service they provided. Again, they set the bar really high! We will absolutely come back when we are back in Portland.

Ask the Community - Pizzeria Otto

Is Happy Hour also on the weekends?

    Yep! 7 days a week!!

Is there a private party room?

No. It's actually a fairly small space. But, maybe that's something they'll have at the new second location, which is supposed to be a good bit bigger.

What time is the happy hour?

Do they allow brown-bagging (aka BYO)?

Absolutely! Just $10 corkage for vino.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

The cheese and toppings tasted fresh, and I especially appreciated that they offer half slices, which made it easy for my husband and me to try a few different varieties without committing to full slices. That said, I think my expectations may have been a little too high going in. The pizza was definitely good, but I wasn't quite blown away the way I expected to be based on all the hype. For me, the cheese were the weakest part--wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't stand out compared to some of the other pizza spots we've visited around the country.
