    The buffet line
    Brian M.

In Eau Claire for work for the week. I did a "pizza buffet" search on Yelp and Pizza Del Re came up as #1 on the list. A true blue collar working man pizza joint if ever there was one. The interior is dated and the crowd during my lone visit were definitely there during their work day. The restaurant has an old wooden countertop and the pizza is brought out and set on the counter along with cheese bread. During the lunch rush the countertop emptied frequently and quickly. The wait staff did a good job of replacing the pie trays almost as quickly as they were emptied. The pizza is a thin crust pizza that was crispy and had great flavor. A very good cheese bread and a full salad bar to boot. I was astounded when my lunch buffet & soda bill came in at $7.55. That is just unfathomable for an all you can eat pizza buffet. I'm in the area all week and will likely return.

Assortment of thin crust goodness and cheesy garlic bread!

What to say about Pizza Del Rey. Thin crust pizza goodness and a buffet to get it from. A well stocked salad bar to fill your veggie cravings with pudding for dessert from it. They had a soup well with an ever changing soup of the day. My personal favorite is the cream of mushroom and followed by the broccoli cheese. The pizza comes out quick, hot and fresh made. There is a delay between rounds of Za goodness for you to choose from due to the limited kitchen size but always worth the wait. In my opinion this is the best pizza buffet in Eau Claire. Do not pass by the non descript outside but stop in for a slice or two. You won't be disappointed.

Had a great selection of pizza and salad from their buffet bars. Our waitress, Breeze, was very attentive to our needs. A classic place in Eau Claire we have been to since 1989. Large selection of salad items,,and fruit and puddings for dessert. Soft drinks by pitcher are a good bargain and huge selection. Seems to have a large takeout crowd.

I was pleasantly surprised with the pizza buffet and salad bar. The pizza is thin and flakey and the salad bar had all of the basics. I arrived right at 11:05 so everything was fresh and ready to go. Our server (I think was also the owner) was nice and quick. Something small but nice, was being able to get Mountain Dew in a can since I'm not the biggest mellow yellow fan. I'll be going back. (4 stars simply because the establishment needs some updating)

Went there for the buffet. There were not a lot of pizzas out and the staff didn't seem too concerned. The pizza was thin crust and had a good taste but nothing great. I wouldn't make a special trip for lunch. Maybe the menu items are better.

Go here with my family every Sunday! Very cheap and good. The employees are very nice and I like the suckers on the way out.

A "must" in Eau Claire. Best pizza buffet around. Great warm family-ran-type environment. Every kids favorite place to go.

Pizza is always excellent. Thin crust traditional style. This place is nothing fancy and at times they are slow at cleaning tables.

Service 5/5: we did not make a reservation, but staff did everything to accommodate us and get us seated. I really appreciate how kind they were and once we were seated, our server was attentive, making sure our drinks were always filled and that we were enjoying our meal. Ambiance 5/5: stunning environment. I highly recommend you take a peek and look at the bar because it's a bunch of little pennies and it is the coolest sight to see (I believe I heard them call it the penny bar too). I really enjoy that you could see into the kitchen while the chefs worked and how fluid they all seemed to be in their craft. Food 3/5: I was really disappointed by the food. I ordered the roasted lamb as a big fan of lamb and it was overcooked and very salty. Also, the mint gelée coupled with the root beer glacé de viande was overwhelmingly sweet. The dish was lacking a balance of acid and spice. My fiancé ordered the tater tot hot dish and I am thankful that he ordered that because we ended up sharing that the rest of the meal. Even he could not eat the Lamb and he is must less picky about flavor profiles. The hotdish was a cheesy parmesan dream with sweet corn, peas, mushrooms and I liked the textural mixture of pork and veal. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back for a meal here. I have seen that their pizzas are really popular because they are woodfired and I wish we would've checked that first, but I wanted a cozy elevated dinner and I'm still really bummed that we did not get that.

It happened to be a very busy weekend, and the Informalist was one of the few places that did not have a long line to get seated. Got in right away and seated for some brunch. The restaurant is spacious and well designed. It's a bit upscale, but perfectly capable of making people feel relaxed and welcome. We got greeted right away by the server and settled in with menus and waters. Our order wasn't complicated: some of the Custard Battered French Toast, a short stack of pancakes, and two eggs. I also ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra foam). It didn't take long for the food to come, but the London Fog took a while longer. The French Toast was amazingly good, and the pancakes and eggs were also very good. I was half done with my meal by the time my London Fog arrived, and the server was very apologetic (saying that the coffee shop was very busy). I might have been satisfied with that, but the London Fog was just okay. While there was some extra foam, the drink itself was flat, as if they just heated up the milk and mixed it with the tea. (They need to do a better job with polishing the steamed milk so that it creates a creamy texture, especially if they ar charging $8) Overall, a good experience, and a few tweaks would have made it excellent. Would stop again if I was in the mood for the French Toast.
