This is my first time at a Pizza Ranch. We got there and paid, I tipped for service before receiving service so I did 20% (I didn't have cash) on my card. It was around 4:30ish. The entire time we were there, old mashed potatoes & dry chicken were in the line. They never brought fresh potatoes. The pasta was old too. Fries and no ketchup? The spinach salad no one was touching because a child obviously made a mess in it with something... it wasn't ever changed out. No croutons for salad? One option for dessert other than ice cream. We got our own drinks. They came around once and got dishes only because a large group had left and their dishes were all over. What did I tip for? This place is terrible. First let me say I love pizza and wanted to give this place a try. Right off we were charged $70 for 5, 3 were small kids. Pizza Buffet was slim pickens they had some specialty pizzas but nothing a young kid would eat which was puzzling. The buffet with the fried chicken looked awful, it's obvious that they seldom change the oil as the chicken looked dry and had a dark look about it not golden. The restaurant looked clean but the more I looked at things I realized it wasn't. The dessert pizza and soft serve were both underwhelming. They added whatever it was to the soft serve while we were eating and it didn't look sanitary. Nothing about this place was inviting. I ended up having a soda and eating at home. My wife and I decided to give this place a fair shake because we've tried everything else. When we arrived we talked to a woman at the cash register, who happened to be very nice. It was hard to decipher if her friendliness was genuine or just because they've received bad reviews that included rude service in the past. The buffet itself was little to no options, it's easily the smallest variety of food I've ever experienced in a buffet. The woman at the register was sure to mention and recommend the chicken because it's what they are supposedly known for. Me and my wife had trouble finding somewhere secluded to sit because there were many tables with old plates and trash still on them which was odd considering it was not busy at all. The food itself was very disappointing. Honestly you'd get better quality pizza getting a frozen DiGiorno, this is no exaggeration. Their pizza had little to no sauce, it was majority cheese and crust resulting in it being extremely dry. So I decided to give the chicken a chance to see if maybe it'll make up for it, and it was better than the pizza certainly, but it was still mediocre. If the chicken was their signature food then they have a long way to go. It was fresh but not flavorful. The only thing I thoroughly enjoyed was their dessert. After sitting in there for 20 minutes me and my wife happened to realize we were easily the youngest of all the customers. (Both of us being early 20's) it seemed like a place favored by a much older crowd. Which made sense considering the really low music, quiet and peaceful scenery. I don't foresee me and my wife ever returning, and I unfortunately honestly don't recommend it. This is one of the best pizza ranch locations we have ever enjoyed! None of the other locations have biscuits anymore and I know that's not a big deal but I love biscuits! This review is for the eat-in experience, I cannot attest to the efficiency of the delivery. My husband and I came here for dinner Friday night around 6 pm and from the get go I was impressed by this place. It's like Cici's in concept only. First of all, the place actually has a specific concept and theme/design to match. The interior is decorated country style complete with cutsie signs and Hobby Lobby style wall ornaments (example: the restrooms are called outhouses). You pay when you first walk in and the ordering is very simple- there's a lunch price, a dinner price, a children's price, and a senior citizens price. The price includes a drink. There was also a sign that said military gets a 50% discount on Monday's. When I told the very friendly male cashier at the front that my husband and I had never been there before he gave us two specific recommendations: their fried chicken and one of their dessert pizzas called cactus pizza. Even if you don't like pizza you will find a very satisfying meal here. They have in effect four buffet areas- the savory pizzas, main hot dishes, a salad bar, and dessert pizzas/vanilla soft serve. The pizza was a 3.5/5. The crust wasn't stupendous in quality and overall the pizza was rather doughy. I didn't like their chicken bacon ranch, but the other two slices I had were quite good- the vegetarian and one with ground beef and onions. Those I would give 4/5. They had about 7 different choices and will make any pizza upon request if the one you want isn't available. Unusual to the standard pizza buffet was what I would deem an all American hearty meal buffet. This buffet had two types of chicken- fried and one with a sticky sweet sauce. I had the sticky chicken and would give it 4/5, it was quite good. My husband had the fried chicken and said it was more of a 3.5. There were also sides including mashed potatoes, corn, biscuits, and I believe another vegetable. The salad bar was also nice, there were about 10 different toppings including bacon, chicken, and lots of different veggies. The dessert buffet had five different dessert pizzas- the cactus bread reminded me of a toaster streusel with white sugar icing and came in different fruit flavor options. There was also another dessert pizza which had a similar construct, we tried an apple and cherry dessert pie and they were very satisfying with the food quality vanilla serve yourself soft serve ice cream. The service was also first rate, an employee went around the room ensuring patrons were fully satisfied and providing any assistance as necessary. This place seemed primarily seniors and families with kids, but I'll definitely be back! I thought the food overall was quite good and appreciated the decor and cleanliness of the place. Too Long; Didn't Read (TL;DR) review for Pizza Ranch: Service - Decent Decor - Def Ranch-y Food - Pretty Darn Good Full review: Now, I want to be sure to start this review by saying I was pretty hungry before deciding to go to Pizza Ranch, why else would I choose a buffet, right? I walk through the double doors and I don't know much about Ranches but this place has a whole lot of wood and wood-like decorations. In my mind I can picture a cowboy enjoying the decor, so I assume it's pretty authentic to style. I walk to the register and its not too busy so the lady working the register is sweeping up a bit (cool in my book, I like a clean establishment). I see the price is $11, so I go to my go to line, "Is there a K-state discount" as I pull out my ID, and instantly the price falls to $8 (wins like that aren't talked about unless its a come from behind victory after trailing in a series 3-1 #NeverForgetWarriors). After paying, I'm handed the receipt and a large cup, then I walk to get a plate. I probably should have set up camp before rustling up some chow, but I didn't because I was too hungry for all of that. Grabbed a plate and had to do a juggling act to maneuver things around so I can put food on the plate. I passed up the pizza because who wouldn't when you have the option to get other food options like chicken and fixin's? The buffet line has no space to keep a plate on the counter and add food to it, so you better have two working hands, or something else figured out. I grab some chicken legs, mashed potatoes, and gravy then head to the table after I've filled up my cup with water. Sat down at the table, said grace and dug in. Here's the thing, there may not be a Colonel around, but they definitely have a Sargent, Lieutenant, or Captain Sanders frying up chicken in the kitchen. That was well worth the price of admission itself. The mashed potatoes were pretty good as well. I couldn't leave the Pizza Ranch without trying the Pizza and the (you guessed it) Ranch dressing [ I know the restaurant isn't named after the condiment, but pizza and ranch dressing go together like peanut butter and jelly). Here is the reason this restaurant won't get a 5th star from me, the ranch dressing was very underwhelming. I'm talking complete poo-cheese, which probably made me feel the Pizza was less than good. There are flies all over the place, workers were eating and sitting with some customers they knew, the air conditioning was broken and has never been fixed for all the times I've been their, the pizza is ok but again FLIES EVERYWHERE and they even got on to the chicken, the chicken is ok as well but I came for pizza and the only thing they seemed to restock was the chicken, not the pizza, the salad bar or the desert area, the whole salad bar was never restocked but the 2 times I've seen it full the lettuce was slimy and really warm, and I won't use their dressing cause there wasn't even a lid to keep the flies out, now the staff were rude to my mother and said very rudely "im gonna have to see your card" which would be fine its mandatory but he said it so rudely DONT EAT HERE read more

Been here 10-15 times since it opened, so this is not a one off review. Every time I have been here, chicken was brought out fresh, was juicy, hot and delicious. Potatoes seem like they are made from real potatoes. Services has been good to excellent. Pizza was much better when they first open. Lose one star for their mediocre pizza. Maybe they should lose the pizza and just be Chicken Ranch. Ice cream as good as diary queen. Not fine dining so don't expect it. But better than average for what it is. read more

Have ordered twice and both times it took 10 minutes just to place the order (due to staff incompetence). First time our pizza arrived cold. My first time at Pizza Ranch and overall I'm happy enough to come back again. Customer service was on par, probably the best thing about this place! Salad bar is a little lacking, not as much of a variety as Ruby Tuesday but still did the job! There is a section with chicken, fries, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, and biscuits. My husband is a biscuit critic and he liked them. The pizza selection is a little small for a pizza buffet. They do offer multiple time to make you any pizza you want as part of your price you pay for the buffet! To say we were unhappy with the experience is an overstatement. I told the cashier about the food on the floor and the server who was putting chicken out into the tray (literally tossing it) who had missed the container and the chicken had landed in food that was on the tray area and he'd just shoved the chicken through that and into the tray. I guess she never told the manager because the manager, when I complained, asked my why I hadn't mentioned it at the time. My son went to take a bite of ice cream and found dried food on his spoon. I wanted a salad but the dressings were covered in slime and when I did find one that was touchable, I saw a green-yellow slime where the dressing would come out of the bottle so I didn't use that, either. Most of the hot food, non pizza, had skins formed over them. By the way, this was at about 6:15 p.m. on Sunday evening when there were plenty of customers. Pizza were old and the meat on them looked like it had been under the lights quite a while. All in all, disappointing is a compliment. I been to Pizza Ranch in Manhattan several times and always had a great service. Management came and greet us at the table. Im part of PTO for my son's school, so we went from pizza place to pizza place looking for some good deal or discount but with no luck, the only place that offered us a discount for a family night activity at the school was Pizza Ranch. Went today on New Year's Day at 2pm, the cashier as nice as she could told us they were not making anymore pizza for the buffet and basically could not serve us till they start making pizza again at 4:30, she states they have been throwing away too much pizza during slow hours. I took notice that then all of the dispensers (cheese and Pepper Flakes) throughout the restaurant had a buildup of grease and gunk on them. The food was really good ("the mashed potatoes take me back to my cafeteria days" said my friend, which isn't bad as I loved cafeteria potatoes) and you can request any pizza like CiCi's. The "buffet your way" presumably comes from the fact that you can get pizza OR chicken! (What a variety! I write in sarcasm font.) That said, the food is the reason it got 4 stars. I ate here last week with my family while visiting from San Francisco. This was my second visit. Their pizza is good, although what stood out from this visit was the fact that my 12 year old brother and another kid both had special requests for pizzas on the buffet.
