While traveling through portage Wisconsin, I decided to stop at what used to be one of my favorite restaurants to have lunch. However, I was denied access to the restaurant because I had my service dog with me and he was not allowed to stay because the manager does not know what the laws are regarding service animals. He stood and argued with me and then I went out to my vehicle and then I decided I was going to show him what the law was so I went back in and showed him what I pulled up on Google for Wisconsin law regarding service animals and then he started backtracking and told me that he trained in Illinois and that is what he was trained. Well you lost a good customer and I will be telling everyone I know about my horrible experience. I did make a complaint with the police department and I plan to report it to further places because of the discrimination. He first tried to tell me I had to have paperwork on me at all times, and by law you are not even allowed to ask for paperwork, or to even ask if it's a service dog when they are wearing their service dog vest, which he was, you are also not allowed to ask what the disability is. I would hope that he reviews the Wisconsin laws and doesn't treat anyone else the way I was treated. I left in tears and I can guarantee I will not be back. read more

From Madison, the whole team drove back to Chicago. 2 hour drive, not bad! No traffic , 70 speed limit, why not? Better than catching a flight from ORD to MSN which by the way either gets cancelled or delayed. Anyway, team stopped by here for lunch. We were greeted warmly and were all lured to the smell of fried chicken. You come in, pay for buffet and AYC for chicken, bbq chicken, biscuits, mash potatoes, pizza, salad bar and dessert. Chicken was good, salad bar was good but not many options. If you don't see the pizza you like, check out the menu and they will bring it out for you. Overall not bad for this town. The place was clean... the customer service from the sheriff was excellent and best of all the kids under the age of 10 years old ate for free on tuesday nights. We had no idea, but I thought it was a nice bonus. We had not been in since prior to the start of Covid. It was good. I like to ask for the special pizzas we enjoy and they will make them fresh for you. We enjoy the excellent salad bar choices, the fried chicken, and all the desserts options. Wow I have never been so impressed by a local pizza joint in my life! I found it while driving through southern Wisconsin one day. Great food. Being that my truck is in the shop, I have no transportation. I'm staying at the Super 8. I called and ordered an order of garlic bread and a small taco pizza. I specifically asked if it came with salsa and sour cream. I was told that it did. The garlic bread lacked garlic. Pizza buffet but they also have a full salad bar, chicken dinner bar, and dessert bar. You can order a pizza and have it made fresh and delivered to your table. Everything I tried was very good. The best was the Mediterranean Pizza (vegetarian, with roma tomatoes and spinach) and the catcus bread. You have to put the vanilla soft serve on top... omg awesome!!!!! I find it weird that this one you have to pay more if you want soda. The the other ones I've been to it just comes with your buffet. I was disappointed with the salad bar. They had either ice burg (no nutritional value) or a lettuce mix that had corn and tomatoes mixed in (don't like corn). So i ended up not getting a salad. I was happy they had Mac and cheese pizza. I've never seen this here. The chicken broccoli Alfredo and BBQ chicken pizza was good. And my favorite the buffalo chicken. I also love the dessert pizza. Ahh Pizza Ranch, How I love thee. This has to be the most authentic Western-looking pizza ranch EVER (well in Wisconsin anyways). The Pizza Ranch in Baraboo and Reedsburg DO NOT compare to this one. The Portage Pizza Ranch is brand Spank'n new! The chicken is great, always juicy and hot (However I like Chicken Legs) and they always run short. There is always good pizza on the buffet. The staff is friendly and don't seem as pushy as the Baraboo location. Overall the value and service are 5 stars here. I will continue to make the trek from Middleton to Portage for this god like chicken. (Well until the Sun Prairie location opens then not so much). read more

I had the chance to go to Pizza Ranch during a ski trip at Cascade Mountain for dinner. We had a group of about 20. Arrangements were made beforehand and there was a large room off to the side with many tables that was able to accommodate us. They have a spacious parking lot. As soon as we stepped out of the car, the most delicious smell filled the air: fried chicken! I know the name of the restaurant is Pizza Ranch but I think it should be called Chicken Ranch because they have the best fried chicken! It is crispy, flavorful, and juicy--not dry at all! The pizza, on the other hand, is so-so. (I'm from Chicago, which in my opinion has the best pizza in the world.) The pizza at Pizza Ranch is not the best and it is not the worst, but they do have a wide variety: steak pizza, BLT pizza, chicken BBQ pizza, and dessert pizza (peach and cactus--not literally with cactus but plain with frosting and crumbly bits on top). They had a salad bar, chili with fixins at the salad bar (like sour cream, cheese, etc.), ice cream, hot soul/comfort food (like fried chicken, mashed potato, mac and cheese, green beans, waffle fries, and chips) and drinks (soda/iced tea/coffee). It's a smaller buffet but I think it has something for everyone and it is very reasonably priced. (Around $10 with drink for dinner.) Everyone is very friendly and I heard that sometimes, the manager comes in dressed as the sheriff of Pizza Ranch. read more

It was hard to keep the chicken in stock and I had to wait for it. The owner greets guests and even clears tables making this place very welcoming and homey. I've been to better locations, as I typically enjoy coming into Pizza Ranch. I am in this area for work often and all the times I've tried this location, the broasted chicken is dry and no new pans in sight the entire time I was there. However, the staff is extremely friendly when I go there. Even the teenage staff has great customer service and manners. read more

Every time we order our pizzas are wrong. Have called management and did the online survey the email you. Each time stressing that it is ridiculous that every one of our orders is wrong. I've eaten at other Pizza Ranch's with little impression. This one I've been to a number of times and my only real complaint is that I eat too much. The chicken is excellent, the salad bar is usually well stocked and fresh and I always request a buffalo chicken pizza because it's so yummy (which comes out pretty quickly). As with any buffet, if you come in during the off-hours (towards the end) the freshness can suffer, but I've not had quality complaints, and I've always found the staff to be courteous and attentive. read more
