The hostess sat us immediately and the waitress brought us water and gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. The waitress, Jennifer, was very nice! She took our order and asked if I wanted my soup right away or with my sandwich. I took my chicken noodle soup right away. It was delicious! I also ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and was very happy with that also. My husband had the bourbon burger and had onion rings. Those were probably the best onion rings we have had. First time visit, May 2025. Family of four. Regular Dells vacationers 2-3 times per year. Proving that TV commercials work, we had not planned to visit Denny's, but after literally seeing dozens of Gland Slam (BOGO?) commercials during the week, we decided to have breakfast at this Denny's before driving home. We order, eat, get the check, and no promo. Of course, I inquired and was told this location doesn't participate in the national/regional promotions. Server did apologize. She seemed sincere, but it's not her fault. Here's the bottom line: Denny's is a national restaurant chain, period! Honor the nationally/regionally advertised campaigns. As an aside, this is why I never eat at Subway anymore - at least 50% of their locations don't honor app deals. Paid the check and left. On the way out, a family was coming in. I just happened to mention. "If your expecting the "Grand Slam" deal, you won't get it here." They thanked me, turned around, and headed back to their minivan. Commercials work. Great service and seated right away. Love that they bring a small carafe for your own coffee refills, and lots of creamer and sugar packages. The menu is going to take you a little to decide. Lots of options for breakfast and for the little ones some good specials. Food was ok, and the it's came out quite fast I tried the strawberry vanilla crepes, the vanilla filling was not as thick, making it the crepes a bit runny. The mini pancakes were good, and the kiddos did not complain. The decor brings you back in time, and must visit while you are in the dells. read more

Honestly if I could of done no star I would of. Terrible service. Charged us a whole bunch of different prices than what was shown. Never checked up on us once while we were eating. The omelette was just eggs over top of the onions and peppers..the service was decent it was pretty busy but we had to wait a little too long for our check. I only recommend this location if you have A LOT of extra $$$$ to waste on bad food....OR this is the only place still open and you haven't eaten in a week.....the only redeeming part of the meal is that the kids bland food was acceptable because...well... kids don't like a lot of flavor and they the have a gallon of syrup at the table. For a bland, non flavorful entree you will fork over $13-$18 per entree...and about $4 for a fountain soda.....not exactly the value of any century..... The grand slams are what you come to expect at Denny's....so that might be a positive, but again reach for that gallon of syrup to wash it down. I would suggest skipping the buffalo chicken tenders....they were more tender frozen than after the cook butchered and over cooked these little nuggets of purgatory. I don't like the fact that sometimes what I really like they take off the menu and then you can't get it and that's really why we don't go there much anymore the few things that we really enjoyed they've removed from the menu no point going plus for what they are. If you have follow me you know I love Denny's. It's a fantastic Americana that provides a comforting moment whenever you need from coast to cost. Today I learned not all Denny's are created equal. We are on vacation and stopped at a Denny's yesterday somewhere in Iowa and had the warm and comfortable experience I take for granted as a Denny's stop. But today we stopped in to this one in the Dells and it was bummer city. I ordered my usual (I get it about 50% of the time) chicken fried steak and eggs with brown gravy. The lady tells me this location doesn't make brown gravy. What? I have literally been ordering the same thing every other visit for 100s of visits. I am a bit baffled it I collect myself and order what I had yesterday "Santa Fe skillet" simple, safe, I just had it yesterday... "we don't have that." We don't do skillets except one with chicken" I panicked and picked the first thing I saw an omelet. For the record I usually don't get omelets as I love over east eggs but I was in some twilight zone episode where the menu had completely changed literally overnight (less than 24 hours) A world where Denny's doesn't do brown gravy or skillets anymore. It was a panic move I would regret. The omelet came as was bland as can be. Only saved by hot sauce at the table. The bacon was way undercooked as were the hash browns. Bad experience overall. Downloaded Yelp for the sole reason of writing a review for this diner. After being seated, we waited an hour for our food while watching others who got here after us receiving their meals right away. Food was very cold, meaning it had to have been waiting in the window for a while before being served. The server Jacklyn gave us the bill and told us to have a good day before we even finished our food. She was only quick when we were "ready for the bill." Not a good experience! First, it was so cold in there you could nearly see your breath, and it's the middle of July. Second, our server was. it friendly at all. Zero personality and just a poor server. She forgot half of our order, and when we did finally get it, it was cold. The food was nothing spectacular. The first portion of our order was barely warm. Looking around the restaurant I noticed that there were things that were very shodd, ie many tables sag so much in the middle that it looks like all plates would slide to the center. Also the dividers for the booths are lean every imaginable direction and appear to be nearly falling off. It seemed fairly clean and the food prices were average. Portion size was average. This is the original Denny's, the dining experience is top notch. It feels original and authentic! They have an option during the fall season to switch your pancakes to pumpkin pancakes! 10/10 amazing! Definitely try the pumpkin pancakes, you won't be disappointed. Old style 50's 60' diner look . All the food is the usual Denny's menu items. One thing I can say about Denny's food is it's always the same. About 45 years ago I took the Denny's way training for cook and it was an experience I'll never forget . Some people don't like Denny's food for one reason or another . Me personally I don't mind it a bit . The wife and I have eaten at this location many times and have never had a bad experience the wait staff is new almost every time but the always seem knowledgeable of the menu and. We had to wait long time because it was crowded and we understand that because of the holiday 1. French toast, bread and bacon were black burned and we were 6 persons and we all had different selections. 2. The lemonade which they sell for almost $ 3 dollars had NO blueberries because they "just run out" and this was very early.... but we had to pay the full price for something they advertise and do not offer... 3.
