My dad recommended this place as the best spot for cheesesteaks, and since I've had some of the best cheesesteaks around Philly, I had to give it a try. This place absolutely did not disappoint. The cheesesteak was incredible, perfectly cooked meat, great flavor, and the bread was spot on. You can tell they really know what they're doing. The portion size was solid and everything tasted fresh, which made a big difference. The atmosphere was clean and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and easy to talk to. The food was good but they charged us $3.18 for a bottle of water and there were 6 of us. 2 pizzas 3 sides and 6 waters = $76.00. The last time I looked at Wal Mart a 35 pack of Deer Park water was $8.00. read more

We ordered a Stromboli and asked to please use onions instead of peppers. Peppers disagree with my husband & it was later in the evening. We cut into the Stromboli and it was peppers. This wasn't an order that can be remedied with a quick change. The waitress apologized and tried to pay for it out of her own pocket (keyword tried-my husband wouldn't allow her). I reached out to the owner & told him I was disappointed in the meal. Nothing. Not an apology or anything to make up for the mistake. Yes, we removed the peppers but you could still taste it in the Stromboli. It was a Tums night for us. Also, there was a fly flying around us as we tried to eat. Not the first time either. 2 previous times we had flies flying around our food. Both times the waitresses apologized for it. We had to ask for a carry out box to keep the flies from getting on the pizza. We were too busy swatting the flies to eat. Very disappointed the past 3 visits. My husband and I had been eating there over 30 years. I have no desire to go back. I will say the waitresses are nice. read more

Best place to go and enjoy food with the locals. It has a seasonal menu. Fall brings the amazing lobster bisque bread bowl. They also have new cheese steak fries. The staff is always nice. The food is consistently amazing. Highly recommended. I personally love the pizza fries, lobster bisque, Stromboli, well I love all most everything. I'm personally not a fan of the sub rolls as they are shipped in and not homemade. That's just my preference. You can try and decide for yourself! You will not be disappointed! We won't be eating or TRYING to eat at this restaurant again. My husband, daughter, her 3 children and a friend went there Sunday, August 15th at about 7:00pm expecting to wait awhile cause we were a large group. But, when my grandson's and my salad came out ant the chicken was cold should have told us something. Then our friends sub and my husband's small Stromboli NEVER CAME to them. I went to the counter and the cooks said there would be at least another 5 to 10 minutes. Well, we told them they no longer wanted their food. We waited over an hour for what came out which was bad as they weren't that busy. They did take our friends and my husband and my food off our slips . They told us that several people quit and they're training but the cooks were laying blame on the server and IT WAS NOT HER FAULT. THEY DIDNT PREPARE IT. I have cooked in restaurants for over 25 years and I can honestly tell you that when an order is that screwed up it is usually because the back of the house screwed it up. read more

One of the best pizza places in Punxy. Hands down. Inside is quaint and cozy. The wait staff has always been prompt and very friendly, even when the restaurant is busy. Prices are very reasonable. The food always comes out hot. My favorite thing on the menu is definitely the bacon chicken ranch pizza. Don't be deterred by the name. This pizza is delish! Garlic knots were way too oily and barely had any taste. Part of my stuffed shells were hard like it wasn't cooked. I got most of my food before my boyfriend even got one item. Oh and his steak sandwich was mainly bread and there was no sauce or anything on it so it was extremely dry. This is one of my town favorites. I like the Sicilian pizza the most but their other pizza are good too. Don't order the cheese cake!!!

The catchy name hides a depressing interior. The atmosphere is dark and cramped. Given the name of the restaurant I thought I'd try a slice of their pizza. Others in our small group tried the subs, salad, and fries. Our pizza slices came out crunchy, hard, and overcooked on the bottom, yet somehow doughey underneath the lackluster sauce, sloppy rendition of cheese and warmed over pepperoni. I will say that our pizza was the best example of, "hey, this will pass for pizza" I've run into in a while: a sloppy, greasy, mess. To top it off, the soft drink that I ordered also came out tasting off. As the subs came out they looked like something someone might make in their home kitchen if they were equipped with subpar ingredients through out. Again, an example of somewhat passable cooking. Don't understand the previous review.....I lived in Punxsutawney for 41 years and this place has been around for quite awhile. I know this place is often very busy when you go in so a lot of people must seem to think it is a great place to eat!! It has always been excellent every time I have been there!! My favorite menu item is the calzone.....extremely tasty!! Never has it been "dark and cramped".....maybe busy,but they do have quite a bit of seating especially for a small town pizza place/Italian restaurant. All over great place to eat!! read more

Well, first I would like to say that I am an out of town guest and my sister raved about this restaurant, so we went this weekend. I was disappointed mainly about your waitress service. we arrived and sat in a booth and waited for the waitress to come to our table. she did and placed the paper mats & silver in middle of table and we had to place them around the table for ourselves,no hello, i welcome or anything. she took our drink orders, then brought them back and just sat them down in from of me and didnt ask who had what & sit in front of them. then she took our orders and I told her mine was a separate check and she took our orders. My brother in law and my order came out, but she like set his order in front of me and walked away so I had to hand it to him, then she brought me mine. she didnt say anything to my sister about her pizza would be out shortly, just walked away. she continuted to clean several tables, counting her tip money while doing this. after almost 6-10 minutes she walked over where u pick up the orders, stood there holding the pizza while talking to another employee, then brought it out and asked where to put it....well of course in front of them, but she stood there and my sister took it from her. she walked away.....never once asking us how things were, if food ok or anything. I asked for a box and she brought it out and not realizing my check was on top of the box..she never told me it was there. Then my sister went to ask for a box & check , they just kinda threw the box and check at her........then when we went to pay the cashier asked how everything was & I told her food was good, but service was not & she turned & looked at the girl who was standing at soda tower and she smirked at her and the girl who waited on us made a face and we seen , along with my sister,niece and nephew......she said that was weird because she is one of your best waitresses...intials were (md or mr) & there was a star by my total, not sure what that meant (maybe a code to the cashier or what)...if that is good service, not liking that.....this was not nice........I dont know if she was almost done with her shift & we sat in her booth and she wasnt happy, but I am not sure why or what we did except that she gave us attittude and then we just werent happy about being there. What would she have done if I was doing a mystery shop on the restaurant?? I've worked in the restaurant business for over 20 yrs and been to lots of service, food safety and all kinds of classes and 1 thing they taught us is your customer brings your business and their word to mouth gets around............I enjoyed the food, but this was not a pleasant visit. thank-u read more
