First time at this joint. We read this pizza joint was rated high for the area but we would not just jump to go back. The pizza was just mid. Their crust was an interesting saltine cracker taste and texture, just odd in our opinion. Atmosphere was okay. Our waitress kept up with us and she was nice so no complaints there. Stopped here late one evening on our way to Houston and got a giant to-go, half Dupe Special and half Pizza Village special. We enjoyed it immensely. It was loaded and toppings and packed with flavor. I've noticed that places in Lafayette/Opelousas don't put a lot (if any) cheese on their pizzas unless you ask for extra cheese but I didn't mind. read more

I visited Pizza Village for the first time yesterday as a destination trip from Gonzales, LA on the recommendation of a coworker. We ordered a medium Original Everything minus anchovies and the Atchafalaya. The thin crust was excellent and both pizzas were delicious. Having shrimp on both pizzas was a treat. The service was also hospitable and attentive. I will definitely return when in the area or on another destination trip. read more

Our part of 8 was excited to try this restaurant while on our road trip. We were informed the wait would be 25 to 30 minutes. After 30 minutes and not being seated, and seeing smaller parties being seated right away we decided to split our group and ask for 2 tables for 4. While the hostess was trying to be accommodating, the manager said we couldn't be seated until other guests were seated. With the knowledge that we had asked to be split, and giving her back to us, the manager asked the other party if they wanted to split. At no point did the manger approach us to acknowledge us. Not to mention I am very visibly pregnant, hungry and at that point terribly disappointed with the service, I approached the manager to have a word with her. When I asked her why we couldn't be split she said they were cleaning a table for the other party. I told her it was absurd to have us wait while other smaller parties were being seated right away, including after we had asked for two smaller tables with separate checks. She was dismissive in her attitude and when I informed her I thought her decision was absurd and we would be leaving, she simply disregarded me and said "that's ok". It is extremely disappointing to have such little regard for customer, particularly in a university town. read more

Met up with Todd Hebert and Byron Blanchard for dinner last pm. We hit pizza village for old times sake. It was the after Teurlings football game hangout back in the day. Felt like old times! We drank and recollected and caught up. We went thru a long list of the pretty girls we wish we had chased a little harder back in the day. We shared about our lives and jobs. Ok so I'm from Athens Ga in town working and rumor was that this was the go to for pizza. It's got that Ken's pizza vibe you know it's old school community pizza joint minus the Italians. I've eaten pizza North to South and this is a stand alone flavor and crust in its in universe. The Landry was recommended and it didn't disappoint, wow and the service incredibly good. Being hungry at 11PM, I looked up great locations to order from.l near by. I saw the reviews and this place seemed decent. Pizza was OK, definitely not worth $23 and change that I paid for though. This was the "large" meat eater which was very small in my opinion. Being from NJ and having great pizza all around the tristate area, I was so disappointed to see that this pie looked like it was from a frozen box (no offense to all those who eat from those). This is a Lafayette tradition and it is easy to see why. These folks focus is on real ingredients and quality. If you are looking for the mechanized belt, assembly line pizza then this is not the place for you. The kitchen is open and you can see the line of nice pizza ovens lining the wall, waiting to make a magical slice for you to enjoy. I suggest the Landry. I go to Pizza Village a lot. I ordered a specialty pizza 13 inch for $27. This pizza had lots of meat . Told them to hold three topping. We added extra cheese and yellow peppers to our pizza. They charged me 3.35 for each topping . A total of $7.00 extra. That 13 inch pizza cost me $35. We split a small salad for $8.95 with one coke. Bill was $50 not counting tip. Food was really good. Ok, I just love this place. This may be another case of bias, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Lafayette oddly has a pocket of quite good pizza places with a smaller italian population than New Orleans. To me, pizza village stood out among the pack. It is simple pizza, not the crazy toppings of Deano's, but it's just fantastic. If you're looking for a good simple pie, come here while you're in Lafayette. read more
