Never disappointing. I remember visiting Deano's on Bertrand for the first time right after they opened when I was a student at USL. This was probably 1971 or '72. I was blown away by how delicious the crust and toppings were! We frequented the other local shop in town, but Deano's was our special treat then. When I returned to Lafayette almost 50 years later I was excited to see them still in business. And that first bite brought back so many memories! But then I discovered their muffuletta! I just had to have one. Now, I went to school in New Orleans, and I often visited the old Red Dog Saloon on Gen Mouton, so I can confidently state that I'm a connoisseur of the sandwich. Again, Deano's hit it out of the park! I don't know how they can do so many things so well, but they do, time and time again. And uh oh, they opened one on my side of town less than two miles from my house. This is going to take some self-control. Well, my doctor made me take some self control, so I thought I'd be limited to salads. But wait! Then they come out with this ridiculous Guiltless Pie! Can't be good if it's good for you, right? Just had worst restaurant experience ever at Deano's. Loud screaming kids made our meal unbearable. Will NEVER dine there again. We had a similar experience previously and decided to try again... mistake!!! We complained to the server but she could not move us and obviously management allows customers to suffer the consequences of parents unwilling to discipline their kids. Why not have a section dedicated to families? This dining experience was so bad!!! read more

Hubby ordered the Ragin Cajun and he enjoyed. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and the sauce and meatballs were cold so I sent it back. absolutely terrible food. actual slop presented on a plate. pizza was haphazardly made with no thought or consideration to any decisions. fully uncooked toppings just thrown on top of a pizza. it was cut like stevie wonder himself picked up the pizza cuter and decided to have his way with the pie. the spinach artichoke dip was such a disappointment. who thinks soggy eggplant chips is an appropriate vessel for consuming the dip. the crawfish nachos tasted and looked like vomit. fried pickles were good tho. so was the boneless chicken wings. jacob, our server, was really nice tho. read more

A great first time visit to Deano's Pizza. Went on a Thursday night at 6:00 and got seated right away. Around 6:30-7:00 is when the restaurant started to fill up. The inside was spacious and looked very clean. Our waiter was great and recommended which pizza's to try. We got a half and half. The Ragin' Cajun and the Parrain were both good. The star of the show was the crust. It was very crispy and held up the pizza nicely. The pepper jelly on the parrain pizza was yummy. I will be back to try more speciality pizzas! read more

I have had Deano's Pizza several times. I finally decided to try the Parrain Pizza because all my friends rave about it. Let me tell you... it did not disappoint. ordered a giant T-Rex with olives on half. it came out with jalapeños instead. sent it back with the waitress, about 3-4 minutes later she returned with the "new" one. took a bite and was hit with the spice and flavor of jalapeño. the cook staff took the jalapeño's off and put Olives on then sent out the same pizza. that's bad business. read more

Great service our waitress was attentive and polite considering we had a party of 12. The restaurant was clean and plenty of tvs that you could see from any place you were seated. The crawfish nachos were disappointing 2/5 the chips got soggy fast and the crawfish mixed with the jalapeño was ok but it was cold when it arrived at the table. My wife loved her Hawaii 5-O pizza minus the chicken sausage with the whole wheat crust. She said it was one of the best Hawaiian pizza she has had. I got a half and half and the Shrimp aka deno was the worst of the 2. The mushroom made the texture of the pizza slimy2/5. The Cajun Executioner was pretty good. The food was not what I was used to. The mushrooms on my pizza are now canned and the pizza lacked the usual flavor I expected from Deanos. The pasta dish came out after we were completely finished with our pizza with little apology from our waiter. So, I'm a foodie and I love Italian food. Pizza is almost like money, there would rarely be a time I'd turn it down and rarely do I find a pizza I don't like. Deano's, however, is up at the top 3 in the Lafayette region and for good reason. They have several different appetizers here and everything I've tried has been great. The most unique item though would be the "garlic knots". These are not really like a breadstick made into a not but rather, imagine a deep fried pastry similar to a beignet but with garlic flavor, a crispy deep fried crust and a zesty marinara dipping sauce. Must try these. The pizzas are there for every appetite and every party size. You can get small individual pizzas or a hearty sized "Giant" which will cover a wide variety of guests. We typically get a specialty pizza with my favorites being the Tee-Rex which is a six meat pizza or the BBQ Chicken pizza. My wife's favorite is the Hawaii 5-O (without jalapenos). The specialty pizzas are not cheap, but the ingredients are top notch and piled on thick. When you pickup a pizza it's not like a fast food pizza, these feel heavy like an encyclopedia of the same size (no joke...these pizzas are stacked!). The service here is friendly and fast and I've had no complaints except that we've never been able to finish all of what we've ordered. (Which I love so I can have a late snack or lunch the next day). If you're craving pizza, wings, pastas or even a sandwich (I can't comment on the sandwich's, but they look delish), do be sure to stop by here, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy! read more

It's been some time since we have eaten pizza here with all the new places to try in Lafayette but hands down, Deano's South pizza is still in the top for great appetizers, pizza, freshest brewed tea. Today we ordered Bon Temp Rolls for our appetizer and The Parrian, and The Medici' for our pizza. Bon Temp rolls here are top of the list when it comes to appetizers. Even the other Deano's location's Bon Temp Rolls don't come close. They are always fresh and has the perfect amount of cheese and studying. And let's not forget the salsa ranch. I can drink this! It's so tasty and goes great with the rolls and any pizza. The Parrian pizza: Yes!!! We noticed 3 different pepperoni, comes with extra cheese and Pepper JELLY! It was excellent. The pepper jelly cut through the richness of the tomato sauce and cheese and add a good kick. The Medici' pizza: perfect taste for pizza. It's very Italian. Marinated mushrooms, onions, olives, artichokes, bell peppers and ham on an olive oil crust. Waitress was super friendly and asked which one we liked better because they were both new pizzas. We liked them both equally. They newly renovated dining and bar area is so awesome. It was much needed. So glad they removed the carpeting. The seating it more open and all the new windows in the front bring much needed light. The tv's are a great addition for watching the games but I am not a big sports fan. It does give more to look at. Deano's South really has it going on now. The staff looked happy and they were all very friendly to us. Management must be doing a great job with engagement and training. This was a great experience. read more

The first pizza, "The Cajun Violation" aka boudin pizza. It has smoked boudin, caramelized onions, and pepper jack cheese, with a olive oil crust! The infamous second pizza, "The Ragin Cajun" consisted of pepperoni, firecracker chicken sausage drizzled with Dean-O's own buffalo sauce, covered with cheese. The best way I could describe the pizza is the store bought Totino's pizza, BUT on a whole another level! The flavor was spot on marvel and the crust; so crunchy! Wow, what a great experience! First off, I didn't think I wanted pizza. I was wrong. Not that I ordered pizza and realized it was a good idea, no, I tasted the pizzas of my dining mates...I was wrong, pizza was a good idea. Cajun Samurai Pizza. Cajun. Samurai. Pizza. With YumYum sauce. And stuff. All the stuff that's good. Don't ask me, just ask the waiter for it and then prepare to be dazzled. Wait, do you like fried shrimp and YumYum sauce? Oh, then yeah, order this. Pizzas abounded, there was a combo pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and lots of sharing. The star, though, is the crust...it's my new favorite crust. Crispy, but not cracker thin, it was fabulous and worked for fried shrimp as well as pepperoni or a total combination style pie. I can't wait to go back! We did get some appetizers and they were all fresh and good; fried pickles and mushrooms, perfectly done, with a house made Ranch for dipping. I'm not I liked the crawfish nachos since there was still a little cheese on the plate I didn't lick, but they were pretty good...plus, we had new people in the group, best to introduce them to my "dining style" slowly. Eggplant medallions and Shrimp Nicole would have been amazing on the same plate, but even separate I saw plenty of smiling going on and the MMMMs were loud and clear. Now, to the part I've been waiting for...MY sandwich. Did you know you can get your sandwich on a Jalapeno Sourdough roll? If not, get back over there and do it. Do it now (if they're closed, you may have to wait a bit). The Hot Blonde is something else, y'all. Chicken breast and candied jalapenos are excellent together, but if you ask for it breaded and dipped in the Jalapeno Cane sauce, you'll be grateful you did. If you order it dressed and ask for fried jalapenos on it, you'll be gratefuler. I know I was. Here's the thing. It was ALL GOOD; from the appetizers to the fried Oreos Anna managed to find room for, the food was wonderful. And service was even wonderfuler; Hunter is one heck of a server and kept our drinks filled, our orders straight, and the numerous extras always came out perfectly. I've heard about this place for YEARS but I've never tried it until tonight. I'm not much of a pizza lover but today I was really wanting pizza and happened to be in Lafayette! DeanO's wasn't much to look at on the inside but the bar area was nice and had video games so my son was able to stay occupied while we all waited for our to go order. I ended up grabbing a drink and some wings while waiting. My bartender was so friendly and the ranch dipping sauce was great!!! When we got home and tried the pizza, it was PHENOMENAL! We got the Ragin Cajun(Buffalo chicken), T-Rex(all meat pizza) and the Muffaletta pizza ! THEY LET YOU TRY MULTIPLE PIZZAS ON ONE PIE! I couldn't believe that! I really am unsure why people said this place was clean. The booth I sat in had drip stain down the walls. The jersey framed in glass had big dirty drips down it. The door near the booth was filthy and look like it hadn't been cleaned in many years . My waitress came to our table just a few times. I had to track her down so we could pay the bill so service was poor at best. We both ordered speciality 9 in pizzas. The crust was the worst I've ever had. They use canned mushrooms and the other ingredients on the pizza was subpar. I was so disappointed I didn't go to Pizza Hut for a nice deep dish or just enjoyed papa John's from home. My husband ordered a shrimp pizza and he felt the ingredients didn't go together well. He didn't enjoy his pizza either. This is an honest review from pizza lovers. read more
