We don't get Chicago-style deep dish often, but when we crave it, Pizza Papalis is the only place we go. We recently had their Chicago-style pepperoni and sausage, and it was phenomenal! The crust was perfectly flaky and buttery, and the sausage was incredibly flavorful--easily some of the best I've had. It's definitely a heavy, indulgent pie, but 100% worth it. If you are looking for authentic, hearty deep dish, this is the spot!

I've never had Detroit style before and I'm not mad at it ! I wish they seasoned the marinara but other than that 5 stars from me !!

Fantastic dining experience. I asked a lot of questions over the phone and they were very helpful. I really appreciate when people take the time for things like that. The food was exceptional. I personally like their Detroit style more as Chicago style is simply not up to par. Sad to see the Greek town location be closed still and likely not coming back but this is a close second happy to go again

Leftover but the cheese pull was impressive!

While visiting Detroit for the weekend we had to get pizza. They had a gluten free crust that my wife really enjoyed. (That is hard to find) I got a Chicago style deep dish. We door dashed the food and it showed up steaming hot still! I wish I had taken a pic fresh bc it was a masterpiece! The pic posted is actually leftovers we froze so we could bring them back home. It ended up being about 6 meals for me. The pizza weighed like ten pounds. It was $23 and well worth it!

Hands down the best in the city. I will drive out the way to pick up this order! Lol I looooove their pizza- OMG. and it's so fulfilling. We belong here cheese lovers! They are not skimpy with toppings and it's not your typical frozen pizza toppings you get elsewhere. Also, I don't know what they put in their wing sauce but honey bbq is fire!

Detriot style mama Mia meatball pizza CHEFS KISS Their phillys are pretty good but that detriot style is Note worthy. We ate there 2 days in a row and I made sure I flew home with some left overs. They must make their ranch in house as that wasn't no hidden valley and the ranch cups are HUGE. Never disappoints and the place is always steady flow of to go orders.

I haven't had pizza pappalis since moving from Detroit many years ago. Sadly the original Greektown location is temporarily closed but many of the satellite locations are still open. Missed those gut busting deep dish slices! Deep dish sausage and spinach: sometimes called "the Popeye". Came out really good! Love how they still do a layer of sausage and not just sausage pellets! Crust was what I remembered. Less dense and slightly flaky compared to Chicago style deep dish. I wish they would ship to Seattle but it's so heavy it would cost a ton. Cheesy garlic bread. Generous layer of mozzarella cheese and marinara for dipping! So good! Better if eaten on site but heats up nicely in a toaster. Chicago natives tend to hate this Detroit take on deep dish but this is what I grew up with so still love it. Service gets a lot of negative reviews here but I had no issues during this take out visit. Maybe ordering take out via Grubhub as I did is the way to go?

The pizza is so delicious. You can create your own. Its all about the deep dish. This location stay busy w/ to go orders but i sat down w/ my family today.

The misses and I headed up to Detroit for the day to visit a friend. Asked around what place we should go to for a pie. Multiple people said PizzaPopolis so we decided to give it a try. We've both had Detroit style before from Calientes and we love their 8 Mile Pie. We also wanted to try a Chicago Deep Dish. We ordered the Ultimate Pepperoni Detroit and a plain Chicago. It came out to just over 50 with the tip. We were told it would be about 20 minutes. I waited about 25 and headed back in to pick them up. I stood at the counter for at least 5 more minutes before the manager acknowledged me. He apologized and said they made the Detroit wrong and it would be another 8 minutes. He said he'll throw in the miss made Detroit for free. I headed back in after waiting another 10 minutes. I'm extremely disappointed in both of the pizzas. There was nothing ultimate about the pepperoni pie. It was a 6 cut pie and should have had "double pepperoni" according to the menu. Not sure how double equates to 3 or 4 slices per piece??? That's kinda skimpy for a 25 dollar pie!!! The sauce did have decent flavor, but the pie was dry AF. There was nowhere near a good amount of sauce on this pie. The biggest letdown was the Chicago!!! The crust mimicked bread. It wasn't crunchy or chewy. It was cakey and dry. The crust was also WAY TOO THICK!!! With the amount of bread and cheese it needed more sauce. It wasn't anywhere close to being balanced. If you decide to actually get a pie from here make sure you ask for extra sauce and avoid the Chicago all together. I honestly would have rather eaten Little Caesar's........

The pizza has this really good sweet-and-spicy sauce, and I loved the honey butter crust--so good. Everything was delicious and I'd definitely recommend it. I don't know what this man's intentions were, but he could've came up to me and just simply asked "are you doing okay? is there anything i can do for you?" instead of scooping me out as if i was getting ready to commit a crime. as I spend more time being back in my home in Detroit, i'm just not understanding why it's too difficult to receive decent and humane customer service. i'm just in complete concern & dismay due to this experience, do so much better.

I went to the location near Broadway Downtown and walked out. I kept searching for other spots in the area. Thanks goodness Grandma Bob's kept popping up. I thought I knew what I wanted before I even stepped foot in the restaurant. Looking at the menu I wanted to try about four pizzas. I opted for the Mushroom pizza and it didn't disappoint. It was absolutely amazing. The lemon was a nice bright touch. Not overpowering. The cheese. The crust. Baked to perfection. The Greek Salad was delicious also. Service was a 10/10. I LOVED the atmosphere. Nice bar area. They also have a patio but it's too hot to sit out. I am planning my next trip back just to come back and eat here.

For a starter, the cashew Caesar salad ($8) was ordered. It came with mixed greens, house-made cashew Caesar dressing, fried shallots, and vegan parmesan. This was very tasty. It was unique with the fried shallot addition. The dressing was just enough. It all appeared very fresh and crisp. The cheese had somewhat of an odd texture, but not a big deal. For a meal, the lobster roll pizza ($45) was ordered. This was so unique that it had to be tried. It came with 6 oz. wild caught lobster, herb crème fraiche, celery and onion brunoise, Cape Cod chips, and chives with drawn butter and lemon. This was very rich, so the addition of the lemon juice and crunchy chips really helped offset that. It was also heavy due to the components incorporated. The lobster appeared fresh and there was plenty of it. The butter was not even needed, but solid for a slight dip. The crème fraiche was solid and different. The crust was crispy and great too. Will I go back? I would, yeah.

Wait times were up to 35 min., but the non-alcohol bar wait was only ten. We chose the latter, gave our mobile number, and were ushered out of the entrance way and into another quieter, cooler, unpopulated hallway in the building to await an all clear, come on in text. That was nice. At the bar, and our server carefully explained the pizza process (~ 25-30 min. wait) and vegetable dishes (10 min wait). We ordered our meal cho, and then a couple N.A. beverages. Beverages seem to all come in bottles and cans. Of the three I tried with my companion, none were standouts in goodness. Water was served in a carafe along with a glass for each of us though. As folks got seated at the bar there was a buzz of excitement about the newness of the place, the menu and the process. After waiting and waiting, while watching one pizza after another go out, one by the each, to others, the excitement died and folks quieted, and just waited and waited for their food. I ordered Charred Briccoli, and honestly, it was the BEST EVER. I shared it with my companion, but by the time it arrived, I was hungry enough to devour it all by myself. We shared the Cowabunga Supreme Pizza (with Fennel Italian sausage, pepperoni, olives and mushroom with spicy red sauce). The corner pieces were crusty delicious, but the inner piece dough I tried was undercooked. Not great. All in all, I applaud the new effort. The people we spoke to who served and ran around were positive and really industrious. Hope management will obtain a beer / wine license one day to make the bar wait a little easier for patrons sitting there. And, an extra pizza oven (or two) might help with patron meal timing eventually.
