If you are looking for a deep dish pizza this might be the place for you. The location on Alberta has a walk up option for grab and go or pick up. There is no seating at this location. We ordered the pepperoni pizza. It is as described on the website: the bottom had a parmesan crust, the crust was thick/chewy, the cheese was on the edges and made for a nice crunch. I live 25 minutes away from this place. I called at 8:21 and asked what time they closed, when they take their last orders and about their seating. I was informed they quit taking orders at 9 and they do not have any seating. My daughter and I showed up before 9 and tried to order some pepperoni pizza and the SAME PERSON I spoke to told me the ovens were already cooling off and tried to play like he wasn't the one I spoke to. I really love "the Harissa" it is an amazing combination of flavors, and there isn't any PIzza Creation like that in Portland, that I've found. It has butternut squash, rose harissa, kale, leeks and mozzarella. I have been a vegetarian since June 2001, and it is one of my pet peeves, when the vegetarian option is "Vegetarian pizza" with olives, tomatoes, green bell peppers etc. But, I opt for different ingredients and flavors, and this one is so good! My ultimate secret- favorite part of the ensemble is the crust! The outside, corner pieces have this cheese baked onto the crust. It is so satisfying! And again, I haven't found anything else similar to this in Portland, and it is "Detroit Style" pizza, so plan on eating with a fork and knife on a plate! It is still manageable with your bare hands though! All of the times I have been there, I have ordered online first for whole pizzas, and it has worked really well. I just walk up to the window and it is ready for me. And, all their staff are. really friendly and nice. I was born in the early '80's so I like their design and ambiance. It is a fun reminder of the good ol' days! But, as far as sitting in a parlour space, this is not really the place for you. It is located in a prime area of Alberta, and they do have a hallway/sitting area but no tables with pitchers and video games. But, the pizza take-away brings those memories to life! Wonderful addition to the Portland pizza scene. Detroit-style pies loaded with toppings on NE Alberta. We went with a couple of the basics: the pepperoni and the cheese. Both were packed with mozzarella, sprinkled with parmesan, and topped with Wild Child's tasty and slightly spicy marinara. Since the scoop of marinara is plopped on top of the cheese, one in our group spread it around their slice with a knife. However you choose to eat it, the pies had hefty amounts of toppings and delightfully chewy crusts -- fried golden brown on the bottom, nicely blackened on the edges where the overflow of cheese hit the sides of the pan. What we were most impressed with was the dough, a 72-hour fermented sourdough that approaches in taste a wedge of well-made focaccia. Delicious. Really impressive platform for the cheese and sauce. One of the newest pizza shops in town and it did not disappoint! If you're craving a thick crust or detroit style pizza spot then you have to check out Wild Child on Alberta. Right across from Salt & Straw you can easily make a trip both for food & dessert. You won't be able to miss it with their colorful building design & artwork. We were looking to call ahead but the message directed us to just ordering on their website. We ordered and within 20 mins we had our pie ready to go. We ended up just doing a classic pepperoni to see if we liked it but the harissa was also calling our name. I loved that they serve slices. Slices will run you ~$7+ but it's basically two slices in a box/quarter of the box. A They are not a sit down place in the standard way you would think. But they do have benches lining their designed wall so you can easily grab and enjoy. Does make it challenging on a cold day so be prepared when you come. Staff here was friendly as well. As for the pizza it was suuuuper cheesy. We took it to go and heated it up a bit in the oven for optimal crunch and when we did the cheese was oozing off! They're also pretty generous with toppings. We accidentally ordered extra pepperoni on ours so made it slightly too salty but it was a nice balance with their harissa pizza that had a kick and not your standard flavor. read more

I am extremely disappointed with myself that I did not write a review for this place sooner. First off, Portland has some very excellent places to choose from for Detroit style pizza...and I would put Wild Child against any of them. Ok, their basic pepperoni is, of course, a favorite. It's just solid. The first time I got one of these babies, I won't lie, I was disappointed by the size of the pizza as I initially thought it looked small. However, each piece is so dense and so delicious! You'll be full after 1 or 2 slices. 2nd win. Their entire menu is good but watch for their specials. They can get pretty creative and pretty crazy! Take advantage of their 50/50 pizzas so you can try a couple different flavors at once! Their Supreme is good, their Harissa is good, and their Maui Wowie is one of my faves especially if you like some kick to your za! Lastly. Why the 5th star? I reserve 5 stars for the best and that includes customer service. Me and a friend ordered a pizza for delivery with some garlic bread sticks. Mistakes happen and we didn't get the sticks. We gave them a call and were just going to ask for a refund on the sticks. Instead, they apologized profusely and offered to deliver the sticks to us. We didn't need them and politely refused at which point they refunded our ENTIRE order. These folks are great and they got a lifetime customer out of me. They're always so nice and friendly and their pizza is GOOD. Give this place a try if you haven't yet! read more

I don't ever look for Detroit-style pizzas, they find me ;) We ordered to-go via online and requested a specific pick-up time which was respected promptly. As we walked up, our 2 pizzas were being packaged and waiting for us in the warmer. We ordered a Supreme and BBQ Chicken and equally good. This is a window walk up pizza spot for take out or delivery. No dine in. They sell pizza by the thick square slice and 4 slices make up a 10x14 rectangular whole pie. Each slice is $7.50 (exception being cheese which is $7) and whole pies range from $23 (Cheese) to $32 (Supreme). Note: Photos show 8 slices for a whole which contradicts what the guy at the window told me when I asked him about buying a whole pizza and how many slices come with it. But I was told it was 4 slices make a whole. The dough is a wonderful thick chewy sourdough base and the toppings range from your basic Pepperoni or Cheese to Maui Wowie which is a spicier spin on a Hawaiian with Jamaican jerk pineapple, bacon and jalapeños and the Harissa, with butternut squash, harissa, kale, and leeks. It has great flavor and and spice and I can see why there are so many reviews raving about it. I came right before they closed at 9pm and I hope that explains why my pizza was cold. I think they re-warmed it up before they gave it to me, it was hot on the outside and cold when I bit into it. Disappointing, because texture is compromised with reheating and made for softer rubbery bites that contrasted with the cold spots. I'm sure if you order a fresh pizza you wouldn't have to worry, but it's worth noting if you opt for their pizza by the slice, it may be reheated and therefore quality is compromised. Overall, despite those complaints, I still think the flavor and texture (as long as you get a fresh pizza) would be worth trying. read more

Wild Style! Wild child is a solid pizza joint that does detroit style. Honestly, it's a good and delicious pizza that provides solid nutrition in rectangular shapes. Furthermore, the peach one that is the august special was a wonderful flavored pizza. I also got the pepperoni which had plenty of meat for your protein needs. It's a pretty solid place to try some Detroit style pizza. We ordered a slice of the pepperoni and Supreme. The spices are of pretty good size and will range between $6.75 - $7.50 a slice. Once you have ordered the slice, they will re-heat it and add some marinara sauce to it, which gives it the extra flavor. Out of the two, the supreme was my winner. The Sriracha ranch is a great dip to order on the side. Just be aware that there is no seating inside, and it's more of a take out spot. Overall a very good Detroit style pizza that if you are looking for something a little different then this is a a must try. We Uber eats this place for our New Year's Eve dinner. A little different style with the sauce being the last thing placed on the pizza. The pizza dough definitely had some garlic butter vibes to it that I was not disappointed in. The pizza is way below average for the growing Portland pizza community. It's all deep dish and taste is very reminiscent of Pizza Hut with a super buttery crust. There is also no place to sit as sits a pizza window. The staff is also not the most friendly. The place is super over hyped! read more
