This was a nice pizzeria for quick eats. I love a wood fired pizza and this one was pretty good. I went with pepperoni and added chili oil.It was good but I wish I asked to add oregano or some other seasonings. My favorite item from this trip was the blueberry basil soda. I regret not buying the syrup to bring home. Also- staff, super friendly and attentive. I'd try them again but would probably go with one of the daily specials next time. Good food, great coffee, great service. We sut outside as we had a dog with us. One star less, because parmesan wasn't on our pasta, which we thought it's very strange and was not an olive, oil I would like to put on my pizza. The server was very pleasant. Incredible pizza. I can't believe how much tomato sauce can be put on a woodfired pizza and pie not be soggy. It's cooked through, crispy on the bottom and extra crunchy on the crust. We loved Diavolo pie with salami, mozzarella, parmigiano, red onion and homemade tomato sauce - tomatoes from a local farm. Added chili oil to take the spice level up. Stopped here in desperation with my kids on a Victoria trip - my picky daughter was starving to death on foodie-heaven Vic! They seated us right away. Drinks and food came promptly. Ambiance was cozy and warm. The pizza was DELICIOUS. My kids don't usually like wood-fired style, but they gobbled it up. Picky daughter got the kids pasta and devoured it! I would skip the insalata. $16 is steep for a large plate of lettuce with sprinkled cheese. The serving is too big and challenging to eat without getting it all over the table. My husband and I came here on a date night. We were staying from out of town and weren't sure what to expect. We were so happy to have a fabulous experience from the wine to the pizza to the dessert and even the incredible service. We sat at the bar which was so fun as you can watch the food staff create the beautiful pizzas and pull them out of the wood fired oven. This is a small restaurant with limited seating but we didn't have a hard time walking in without a reservation on a Saturday night. We ordered an Italian bottle of wine per the waitresses recommendation and the insalata della casa to start. This salad was STUNNING. The dressing was drinkable and the greens were so fresh and crumchy with a dusting of parmigiano all over. When the pizza arrived the crust was crispy with bits of char (not too little, not too much) and the toppings were perfectly balanced. We ordered a margherita as well as the pizza special at the time. To finish our lovely meal we had a scoop of gelato each which was perfect, creamy, and not too sweet. Interesting! Picking up a piece was reminiscent of a limp d__k! Undercooked, soggy dough with no pizzazz! Green salad was just that.. a plate of greens with a bit of cheese over the top. Almost died here, and not because the thin crust pizza is to die for. Had what appeared to be a heart attack and they were nothing but kind and helpful. Going as far to get on the line with 9-1-1 and ask me questions about my eyesight and what year it was. They were nothing but friendly and the pizza, which they gave to me for free, was delicious. One of the hardest parts of running a great pizza place is: 1) finding a good dough recipe 2) finding a good brick oven to cook it in 3) finding someone who can cook #1 in #2 Prima Strada has done it. The guy working the oven knew what he was doing and seemed to love doing it. The dough was perfect on the bottom without being burnt. More like 3.5 stars. The pizza is good. Your fingers trace the flour on the bottom of the crust. The oven marks leave character. The flavors are fresh. The sauce is good. I would just add a little more cheese please. The thing about is going to a restaurant is customer service makes all the difference when you feel like paying money to be fed versus just cooking at home. AMIRITE? It took our server a long time to take our drink order and then a long time again to come around for our pizza order. After the pizza came she realized she needed to bring us some plates before our food got cold. I feel like we were the rotten stepchild table that she would much rather neglect. My drink was fine but nothing spectacular. I wish she came 'round again and checked on us more so we could settle in here. Overall our group enjoyed Pizzeria Prima Strada. The location was nice with both indoor and outdoor seating for small groups. The interior is fun with tables and bar seating that overlooks the pizza prep area and oven. We ordered 4 pizzas and were glad we got a variety since the pizzas we thought we were going to like ended up actually being our least favorite. We all unanimously agreed that the pepperoni was our least favorite. While the dough, sauce and cheese were great, the meat tasted like a hot dog. Nothing close to traditional pepperoni. The flavor of the meat alone ruined the pizza. Our top favorite was the Diavolo with the spicy calabrese and onion. This is the flavor we were expecting out of the pepperoni. A fantastic and delicious pizza. We also ordered the pancetta and arugla which we thought needed some slight dressing on the greens, and the sausage and red pepper. The sausage pizza was on the sweet side which I didn't enjoy that much, but half of our group liked it a lot. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 was that the pepperoni wasn't very good. It was very thick and fatty. Overall great place. Fort street location is great for kids too. read more

My favourite place for a nice dine in experience. Every flavour pizza we've tried so far has been excellent, with nice wood fired thin crust, high quality toppings, and great flavour combinations. We also regularly order the appetizer plate with bread, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and olives and it's a great start to the meal. It's bustling, and usually pretty busy, but worth the wait. We went here recently for our wedding anniversary. Billy had been before but I hadn't and when he suggested pizza, I was kinda like meh. I was pleasantly surprised! It's really nice and cozy inside. Causal yet classy. The waiter was really nice - he gave us two glasses of delicious and local sparkling wine for our anniversary. We ordered the meatballs and bread for an appy- they were huge and full of flavour. We ordered two pizzas which are made in a wood fired oven, in case you didn't already know. So thin crust with a nice flavour. One was the Diavola and was spicy with a red sauce. The other was the chicken pizza with the cream sauce and smoked mozzarella. That was my absolute fave!!! I'm sure there must be better pizza places in the area. While the service was friendly, the rest of our experience was not good. The pizza here is sub-par. Crust was soggy, tasty was pretty bland and it was not even hot by the time it got to us. Worse than that though are the limitations the place puts on their "customers". They don't do split pizzas, many of the pizzas listed have "no substitutions", did you want crushed red pepper on the pizza before they cook it? Nope, "it's on the table". Fresh tomato slices available? Nope. And you pay for all extras, including if you ask for Parmesan (which is generally on the table for free at pizza places), you pay $3 CAD for literally less than on ounce of what appears to be Kraft grated Parmesan. Sad that the folks have to call this a good pizza place!! read more

Had the opportunity to try some Neapolitan pizza during our day trip to Victoria. The service and atmosphere was great. It's located in a less tourist area and didn't have to wait although expecting a line at 730pm on a Sunday. We ordered the red lager, blueberry soda, bruschetta caprese app, calzone and funghi pizza. Both calzone and pizza were a little undercooked by none the less decent pizza. I think we were starving and at that point would even eat anything even if a little undercooked. I would recommend asking them to cook the pizza a little more in the oven than usual because after looking at the photos noticed that majority of their pizza photos were a tad bit undercooked. Very nice dinner here late on a Saturday night. No wait for a table around 8.30PM. Friendly, comfortable atmosphere (other than it being pretty warm inside). Got the carne pizza and the verde (olives, basil, mushrooms, artichoke hearts). I found the verde a bit of a miss - lots going on and the mushrooms were button mushrooms cut into big pieces - not great flavour and kind of hard to eat. Really enjoyed the carne though - ham, fennel sausage, pepperoni - great quality of meats. Crust itself was excellent, loved the chewiness. Very friendly service and fast, too. It's NOT meant to have caked cheese-like goo holding it together, and it should NOT come with free cinnamon rolls, a dried crust or a 6 pack of pop. And keep your deep-dish, Chicago... we want our crust thin like (insert waif like super model name here). And Prima Strada knows this. My favourite pizzeria on the island, hands down. I have been addicted to Primastrada's deliciously stretchy dough, baked to smoky perfection for about 5 years now. It's a bit of a problem...a delight So we have gone over the dough. Caputo flour 00, the real deal. Next, the tomato sauce is juicy and tastes noticeably fresher than most pizzerias'. Add your favorite toppings, and watch your pizza get baked in their hand-crafted forno (oven). They even imported the bricks to build it from Italy. If you are looking for a smoky, thin-crust slice of perfection, welcome. In terms of favorites, I'm sure all the pies are incredible, but I have a personal affliction for the rucola e crudo - parmaggiano reggiano, proscuitto and arugula. Honestly best pizza I've ever had. Maybe I don't have a huge breadth of experience trying different pizzas but from what I have tasted, this one demolished all others. We kept it simple with one pepperoni and one housemade fennel sausage and they both were fantastic! The best thing for me personally about these pies was the focus on the well seasoned and perfectly balanced sauce. Time and time again, it seems like so many pizzas are drowned in too much cheese and too many toppings so when you take a bite, you just have this bland taste of too many things in your mouth and it just isn't satisfying. Here though, the cheese and toppings complimented the pizza instead of overpowering it so I was able to really savor that wonderful sauce while still enjoying just the right amount of mozzarella paired with the pepperoni/fennel sausage. And speaking of the toppings, both were fresh and exceptional. Thick cuts of pepperoni and good sized chunks of fennel sausage made it one for the taste buds and one for the books. Sometimes more is not better and these guys nailed it when it comes to pizza. Our waiter was also incredibly kind and easy going while answering our questions as it was our first time dining here. Warm atmosphere, kind people, delicious pizzas. Can't ask for much more than that. Highly recommend eating here, even if you have to wait. We had a 45 minute wait but it was so worth it! read more
