We were staying at the Embassy Suites by the DC Convention Center and got hungry late at night, so we called downstairs and asked where we could get a pizza. The hotel recommended a place and helped us order. We ordered a small pizza with ground beef, mushrooms, onions, and olives. When the delivery guy called and said he was downstairs, we went down to get it and paid $23. As we were walking back into the hotel and opened the box, it was just a plain cheese pizza. Luckily the driver hadn't left yet, so we stopped him and my sister called the restaurant. She spoke with who I believe was the manager. The young lady on the phone had a very nasty attitude, both to me and my sister. They told us it wasn't their fault, and if we wanted the correct pizza delivered we would have to pay another $11 delivery fee. So basically nobody took responsibility. It wasn't our fault, and according to them it wasn't their fault either. But somehow we still had to pay extra to fix the mistake. The delivery driver did come back about 15-20 minutes later with the other pizza. By that time my blood sugar had dropped, so I had already eaten a slice or two of the cheese pizza just so I could get something in my system. The pizza itself was just okay. The cheese pizza did have a lot of cheese piled on it, I'll give them that. But honestly, the two pizzas together were not worth $33. The next day we ended up giving the rest of the pizza to a homeless man sitting outside the hotel, so at least someone got something out of it. Overall, the customer service was poor, mostly because of the attitude we received on the phone. The food was just average. I personally would not recommend this restaurant, but like I always say -- that's just me and my taste buds. You might try it yourself and have a better experience. Good luck. We did not make a mistake on our order. We ordered a pizza with toppings and received a plain cheese pizza. That was the issue from the beginning. When we contacted your restaurant, we were told it was not your fault and that we would have to pay an additional $11 to have the correct pizza delivered. That is why we ended up paying a total of $33 for a small pizza order. Yes, the replacement pizza was eventually delivered 15-20 minutes later, but only after we were told we had to pay extra to correct a mistake that was not ours. You also could have taken the original pizza back if that was your policy, but we were told to keep it. I do want to address the statement about "blackmail." At no point did we attempt to blackmail anyone for free food. That accusation is simply not true and is very unprofessional. I would also like to note that the tone and attitude we experienced during the phone conversation were not professional and did not reflect good customer service. Clear and respectful communication could have made this situation much easier to resolve. This was my birthday weekend. We spent a significant amount of money enjoying ourselves and supporting businesses. In fact, earlier that same morning, we were even dealing with a situation where someone attempted to use my sister's credit card fraudulently. With everything we had going on, it makes absolutely no sense that we would try to "blackmail" anyone over a small pizza. We shared our experience based on what actually happened: We received the wrong order We were charged extra to correct it The customer service, including the tone of the interaction, was not pleasant Based on this interaction, I can better understand how communication issues may happen between management and staff. Everyone is entitled to leave an honest review, and that is what this is. If you are going to respond publicly, I believe it is important to present the full situation, not just part of it. This is one of the worst pizzas I've had in DC - I really don't get where these good reviews are coming from. We ordered for delivery, we live a few blocks away - it showed up really quickly. Like really quickly, to the point I thought how could they have cooked it that fast. And sure enough - it wasn't cooked. Too much greasy cheese, and really soupy. And one thing I've never seen this with a pizza before - but the crust kept separating from the toppings - like when I picked up the slice, it would wilt and the crust would separate from all of the toppings. This place is an absolute neighborhood gem. I live right nearby and keep coming back for the cheese calzone, which is massive, perfectly cheesy, and only $13. It's easily enough for two meals, so I usually split it or save half for later. In DC, especially around Logan Circle, that's an incredible deal. Their desserts are also excellent, and while I tend to stick to my usual order, everything else on the menu that I've tried (and seen coming out of the kitchen) looks great. To My D9 Family!! The Owner Called Me a Liar and accused me of needing $20, the amount of my sandwich! I was in Washington for Delta Days. I ordered delivery to The Grand Hyatt. Once my sandwich arrived, I took it upstairs to eat. When I unwrapped one side of the sandwich, I found two hairs in the sandwich. I immediately called the restaurant and told the gentleman that answered the phone my issue. The owner got on the phone and said "You are a liar!! No one works here with hair, I am bald! You must need $20!" The owner Yelled all of this and called me a liar a few more times before I said 1 word!! I was stunned. I sent the sandwich back to the restaurant, the owner called me and said there were not any hairs in the sandwich and laughed! Please Do Not Eat at this place! There is Hair in the food and the Owner is Rude and Very Unprofessional!! Their Response to my review is a total Lie! I never asked for my money back! And I never asked for a replacement! Why would I want another Unsanitary Sandwich from this place? They never sent a replacement! So not only is this place unsanitary, they are unethical as well! This cute little pizzeria was right next to our accommodations during our stay in DC, so we knew we had to give it a try. After an afternoon of walking through some museums on a rainy day we came home quite famished and headed straight over for a bite to eat. Once inside we were told the slices are quite large, so we only ordered one to share for our family of four. They were very accommodating with our topping requests and we had ordered the pizza to go. Boy were they right to only order one slice! They cut the single slice into four portions and it fits inside a medium sized box. We quickly ran it home to eat and it hit just the right spot. The sauce was superb and it had a good amount of cheese to satisfy the soul. Dough was a little bit boring, but didn't ruin the overall experience. The supreme toppings were great, but didn't love the sauce - it was a touch sweet and very oregano forward. The white pizza had scoops of ricotta that I enjoyed, but was not a huge fan of the pesto. It didn't have enough basil for me - I think it maybe had mint? Anyway, not a great pesto and would opt for a plain white next time, maybe add some protein. The crust was decent and chewy. The toppings slid off the supreme pizza when trying to pull slices apart which was annoying. Would I order here again? Probably not, but only because there are similar pizza shops closer to home. If I lived nearby I'd probably go more often. It's definitely a step above your standard delivery pizza. read more

In a hungover/need a cardiologist "give us grease and cheese" state, we ordered 2 large pizzas, jalapeño poppers, wings, spinach feta triangles and mozzarella sticks. We had one of each thing and threw the rest away. Pizza was wet, cold and the cheese is the fake chewy crap. We got one with olives that had whole olives dumped on part and missing totally from others. Mozzarella sticks are the same with a sweet sauce. Spinach feta triangles are soggy puff pastry with some frozen spinach inside. Wings are blackened outside, raw (literally) inside. I didn't order pizza from a pizza place because I wasn't in the mood for pizza, so I definitely appreciate how extensive their menu was---sandwiches, salads, burgers, pastas, strombolis, calzones, wings, and much more! I ordered food for delivery. The falafel platter was tasty overall ($13.99), made with fava beans, popping with flavor, and had consistency in three patties. The patties were arranged neatly in the to-go container. There definitely wasn't enough hummus, and the whole meal felt extremely dry, particularly with so many slices of pita bread. The hummus had a gritty taste and didn't seem very fresh. I have had far better hummus out of a container, so I wasn't very happy. Some tzatziki sauce or vinaigrette would have certainly improved the taste. I'm thirsty now just thinking about the meal! The tiramisu ($5.99) looked far better than it actually tasted. I felt that it was very pricey for what I received. The flavor was fairly bland and uninspiring, the consistency was good, but it left me unsatisfied. It wasn't exciting to eat this dessert, it wasn't worth the calories, and I would not order that again. I was searching for neighborhood pizza and landed on a half margarita half chicken pesto extra large pizza. The website didn't have any prices, so I didn't think it would be very expensive, but it was $33 for a fairly simple flavors. The crust was nice and crispy and the margarita was ok, but not anything too special. The chicken pesto had large chunks of tomatoes and chicken that made the slice a little harder to eat. The pizza is ok, but it might not be worth how much it actually cost. You're better off going to an artisanal pizza place for the similar prices. read more

Not great. Pizza itself is very average, no more. Sauce isn't great (white pizza sauce either doesn't exist or is tasteless) and regular sauce is meh. Just in general average pizza. Service itself is....I think because they know they're kind of in the middle of nowhere, a bit far from other eateries, they let themselves not try. To be fair it is late at night and idk could've been a one night thing...but service was just very nonchalant, slow, 'whatever'. Also it was very hot inside. Wow the slices are huge! Shared a slice to go, and it was so big they had to fold it over for it to fit in the pizza box it was nestled in. We took it to go and it held up well for the short walk back to our hotel. It was definitely NY style, with thin crispy crust but still pliable enough to fold over. The sauce and toppings tasted decent. The price was around $7 and the single slice is about the equivalent size of a personal sized pizza. The dessert freezer looked tempting here as they had several NY and Italian desserts and a whole section of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. read more
