The place has a small dine in and mainly thrive on carryouts. There is no AC so if you here on a muggy noon for lunch, you will hate the place. I was staying at the Cambria Suites (.3 miles away) and was looking for something easy in walking distance. This is how I found Pizzolis. This is more geared for take out. There is one table and some counter space inside. There are several picnic tables outside to sit at, but it was raining. My son had a small cheese pizza and devoured it. I had a chicken fingers basket with fries which was also good. Food was cooked relatively quick and the person working the front counter was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable as well. I was drawn to this place because it popped up when I searched gluten free. Usually I am quite picky about my Gf pizza because when they have a rice base dough it can come out with a quite dry and crispy crust. But with a gluten intolerance beggars cannot be choosers. Getting to my point this pizzeria offers a cauliflower crust that was divine. With a great taste and texture I would recommend this over the traditional crust. Our go-to pizza place especially now that mellow mushroom has closed. It's healthier than mellow mushroom for sure and tastes more "real." We order different kinds of pizza every time and haven't had anything we've disliked so far. Minus one star for inconsistent delivery times after ordering online. This is a great place to pick up a pizza and some wings. The prices are on par with other carryout pizza places in the District and their menu has coupons. It is tasty and super fast (usually 15 minutes, but they have a giant TV if you do wait). Ok, so me, my sister and my nephew were all in dire need of good eats after taking him to his check up at the cancer institute (don't worry - clean bill of health!!!) All that waiting, though, really worked up an appetite. I got on my trusty yelp app to see what was close, well priced, and reviewed well and we found this gem! It's small, and since it was raining we were very lucky to snag the only table inside (their outside patio seating would have been awesome on a nice day!) Everything looked amazing, so it was tough to choose. I got the spinach & artichoke sub with spicy fries (technically just seasoned fries - they were scrumptious, but not spicy). Sis got a simple, small cheese pizza and my nephew got a Philly cheesesteak sub. We all agreed our food was DELICIOUS! Nephew said it was better than his fav PCS he gets at a restaurant close to home, Sis said she would give her pizza 6 stars!!! And that's saying A LOT (she is annoyingly picky!!) my sub was unique, tasty, and I so appreciated all the vegetarian options for me to choose from!! Had this delivered to a local hotel this past Tuesday night and was so disappointed! Ordered mozzerella sticks & spaghetti w/ meatballs. It took well over an hour to get the food (on 14th/Mass). The mozz sticks were hard and cold, marinara was cold, the spaghetti was kind of crusty and the meatballs tasted super processed. I ended up eating about 1/6th and then walking to Zoup instead. Caveat: my relationship with Pizzoli's is based on one late night meal, during which I saw a group of burlesque/circus-dressed individuals (one guy was only wearing sparkly gold boxer briefs) I thought Pizzoli's was fine. Not amazing. Not awful. Just fine. It's like getting a jumbo slice from U Street but slightly better (note: a "slice" of pizza they sell is a jumbo slice, not a normal slice, at $3.50 a slice, plus tax, plus extra $ for toppings). If it's late and you need food, it's a good option. But personally, I think one of my homemade pizzas outdoes Pizzoli's take on pizza, so if it's not during crazy people hours or if I'm not running around being busy, you probably won't find me at Pizzoli's. read more

We were staying at the Hampton Inn Washington D.C./White House and decided that we would eat in. We got information from the Front Desk which included a brochure for Pizzoli's Pizzeria. The picture of the pizza on the brochure looked appetizing, so we went all in. Worst mistake EVER! My husband went down to pick up the pizza and paid without looking; second mistake. We ordered a medium Pesto Margharita gourmet pizza ($16.99 for a medium? Ok I guess, we're in the District), adding pepperoni, sausage, red onions and fresh garlic to an already expensive pizza (an extra $8). We asked for the pizza to be well done and cut in squares. We received a $25 disaster. The pizza was NOT hot, the crust was soggy on the bottom and burnt on the top! The sausage was indistinguishable from the burnt crust and the pepperoni looked like little burnt chips. I ate 2 slices and gave up the ghost. My husband managed to eat a little more. I absolutely LOVE pizza but this is the FIRST time I was so disgusted that I simply gave up. The only redeeming grace was that we received a 10% discount which basically covered the cost of a pizza that should NEVER have been delivered. Don't be taken in by the picture, and if you do decide to buy, LOOK BEFORE paying!!!! As for me and my house...we will NEVER order from Pizzoli's again. UPDATE: I received a response from the business manager offering to send one more pizza at no charge. We happened to have dinner at this pizzeria in Washington. The staff is friendly but the pizza and the hygienic level are not adequated. Garlic sauce instead of the classic tomato purée, burnt crusts and a few tables, mostly outdoors, where we were attacked by mosquitoes. Unpleasant. I just ordered and received a buffalo chicken pizza a few moments ago on this 16th day of May 2014. --The delivery was about 20 minutes early---good. --The pizza tasted fine. --The pizza CONSTRUCTION?---not good at all. I was excited to eat my my pizza because I've had their pizza at work before and it was very good (the buffalo chicken especially). However, after I cut the uncut edges of the pizza to make the individual slices easier to pick up, the pizza crust came up...and all the cheese, chicken pieces and veggies slid right off...while I held a triangular piece of saucy pizza bread in my hand. Hm. It was rather embarrassing. I paid $22.89 for this medium-sized pizza, and was very unhappy with the fact that I was given a pizza that apparently wasn't cooked in a manner that allowed all the components to solidify (almost as if they somehow managed to place pieces of the pizza on top of each other, yet cook them separately). It tasted O.K.---good actually ...after I finger-scooped all the cheese, vegetables, and yummy chicken chunks back onto the pizza bread. The sauce drooled right off, too. All into the box. *Sigh* It was like receiving a pizza-making kit. I did not call them back because I had already started eating the pizza and was not sure that they could do anything at that point. Great basic pizza place with lots of non-pizza choices so you're sure to find something that suits your needs. When my friends and I called to see if the place was open, the worker was very short and choppy with us which already started a very bad experience. When we arrived the worker had no mask on and as we were placing our order you could tell he was getting irritated the more we ordered. When we received our food we were disappointed with the quality and taste of our food (I got a chicken philly and my 2 friends got steak and cheese subs, we also got a pizza and mozzarella sticks). The subs were dry and the pizza was mediocre, nothing to rave about. I also ordered an Oreo cheesecake which they had bagged for me, only when I got to my house the bag had a normal piece of cheesecake in it, not Oreo. I have no idea how anyone supports this establishment.. I ordered last night for the first time. (jumbo) wings which were really just party wings and an order of fries.. 5 wings for $8 and $5 for for french fries neither item was what I wanted.. I just spoke with a gentleman on the phone not long ago and he tells me that everyone's struggling trying to make it, that the rent there is $11k monthly while employees are getting paid $14 an hour, REALLY? All of that because I wanted my ordered corrected. I was not being combative however, he felt the need to do so... It is simply not fair to have to receive this type of service as a customer yet you are complaining about how much your rent is which is justification for over charging and not wanting to correct a mistake that was made. I received several phone calls from him asking that I NOT post this review, he apologized claiming because he was frustrated and also a woman called asking if I could come back in.. NOT NEVER again will I be this asinine, 2 stars simply because the fries were plentiful that I could not eat any way....Anyone foolishness enough to support this business I sincerely wish you the best of luck. read more

I also order the gluten free pizza which was also very good. What I loved the most was that they give you your own pizza cutter so there is no cross contamination.
