After nine days, all of the gel on one of the manicures that was actually completed has come off. All of it. Every finger.

Great pedicure. Worst manicure of my life. Still have SNS on my nails. Multiple cuticles left bleeding. Did not clean beneath the nail after weeks of SNS wear and tear. When I told her she left lots of glittery SNS on she told me it was my nail! I asked them not to file and to only soak (a recommendation lots of friends gave me - this was my first SNS experience) and she filed them anyways. Nails left jagged and uneven. Then she barely slapped a top coat on and said I should never do SNS again. When it came time to pay I was practically crying. She soaked my fingernails for another ten minutes- no top coat this time "to let them breathe" Very disappointed. read more

This place is overall a very good nail salon. They do autoclave their utensils and use personal plastic bags for pedicures! Service: Overall my technician was great (she sat at hollys desk but I wasn't too sure if she herself is holly since she didn't introduce me). She was nice and would talk to me about anything. She is very detailed and would remove all dead skin present for my pedicure and manicure. The only thing I didn't like was that she cleaned the dead skin under my skin without telling me and after looking at the other reviews, that's why I was charged $5 extra. My gel manicure was even and she would always ask for my opinion on the shape of my nails. Selection: The color selection is definitely huge and there are walls as well as samples of many different colors. They had a lot of chairs and desks for customers to come in. Technicians: Overall they were very funny to each other and had a very friendly vibe. I understand Vietnamese and many people always worry about them talking about other people, they don't. Even with other customers, they mostly just talk about making sure to greet the customers and answer each other's question when it comes to nail service Pricing: My gel manicure was $19 due to the yelp deal but it's usually $30 which is standard. My pedicure was $26. Both came with massages which was super nice. Overall I like this nail salon, I heard other salons were not that great compared to this one. Even my friend who goes to Celfie says this salon is nicer and friendlier. I first visited PJ Nails over a year ago and saw Tracy. Tracy was amazing and literally gave me one of the best massages of my life. My husband makes fun of me and says my love lanugage is going to the spa, so I know a great massage when I get one. There is something very special about these ladies at PJ's. Tonight Tami gave me a pedicure and Emmy did my manicure. Tami asked if I wanted to extend my massage even though it was already after hours for them and was insistent it wasn't an issue. They proceeded to pamper me 45 minutes past closing time and I'm so grateful they did. As long as I am in Austin, I'll be back to PJ's. I bought a groupon for the gel manicure. I called before I went since the voucher said I needed to make an appointment. When I got there they were a little backed up so I ended up having to wait about 20 minutes. Laila, the nail technician was very apologetic for making me wait. She immediately offered me something to drink, which is really nice to have at a nail salon imo. I started with a pedicure. It was a fairly simple pedicure, but it did include a massage and hot towel wrap. This took about 30 minutes and costs $26. Then I moved to the hand station and got the gel manicure. They have a policy of fixing your shellac nails within 10 days if anything were to happen to them! Normally it costs $30 for a gel manicure. After using my groupon, I was given a voucher for $21 on my next gel manicure :) Overall they have a decent selection of colors (for both regular and shellac), they have great service, and maintain their salon well. They don't abuse my nails (which is my biggest problem with other experiences -- ripping, not clipping, my cuticles, filing like they've got a score to settle with my nails, etc.), the staff is friendly, they always open the tools from a sanitized pack, and the prices are very reasonable. I get gel on my natural nails with designs -- I highly recommend David and Kristy!! I bring in a pic or two of the style I'm looking for and let them go to town. They always send me off looking fab and getting compliments up until my next appointment. I don't want to think that it's because I'm Hispanic while is the minority of their client base is not, I did tip reflecting my disappointment in request. I've had my nails done a lot this past year in Houston or Dallas, and honestly, I'm a bit disappointed in how long they lasted. I tend to do regular nail polish, which yeah, it doesn't last that long, but I get bored of colors quickly anyway. All that to say, I'm going on 6 days with standard polish from this place for both a mani/pedi, and I don't have any chips. That has gotta be a record! I wasn't as impressed with the pedi service as I was the mani. I paid $5 extra and they did the callus remover for the pedi and it didn't seem to make as much of a difference on my heels as when I've had it done elsewhere (gross? sorry). However, my manicurist was the bomb. She had the right technique for painting my nails, unlike the pedicurist, who did like 50 strokes of the brush for each nail. They seem to have a massive color selection, so if you like having choices, this is a great place. Had a great experience this evening at PJ. I walked into the salon around 6:15 without an appointment. Even though they close at 7 and the technicians were already working on other clients, they were more than happy to help me. Even after I told them I wanted a full acrylic manicure! I was offered a beverage and barely had to wait. Tia did my nails and although I came in wanting acrylic, she told me about the SNS system they offer and I ended up doing that. I'm so glad I did! It looks similar to acrylic but it doesn't contain all the chemicals and doesn't damage the natural nail. Tia was so sweet and explained to me each thing she was doing in the process. She took her time which I truly appreciated, especially so near to closing. I am very particular about manicures and this is one of the best I have ever had! An added bonus is that the salon is in a convenient location in Westlake with easy parking. Will never go anywhere else in Austin! read more

Usually I past this nail salon many times but hesitant to go in for the reason seems vacant but I know why the door in the front is sort hidden and located in a small shopping mall on a very busy crazy street. The nail tech was pleasant and sweet but I am used to two nail techs working on me at the same time. The place seems ok, but needs a little TLC. I prefer a very well managed Nail Salon where you don't want to catch anything like toe fungus rot or anything unhealthy or scary. BTW it does take a almost 3 hours for my nails at PJ Nails here which is'a long time for me. Next time if I am in the area I will peek in to see if any changes before I procede with my refills on my nails and deluxe pedicures. One pro is they serve wine at this location which a nice gesture. Will I return not right away have too MANY nail salons in my neck of the woods that are 5 star ratings. So I be watching if the stroke of luck happens. read more

It seemed very turn table, the nail technician was in a bit of a rush and using a nail buffer file cut me five times which was actually painful. I went in to have my nails done for an event so it didn't look that great having cuts/blood on my nails. Then immediately when she finished she wanted to help me gather my things which is nice but my nails were clearly not dry so I asked if I could use the fan for a little bit. I am not quite sure what everyone else is raving about but I just moved to this area and had such high expectations for this salon. I got a gel manicure and I loved the color selection. When I was getting my manicure I noticed that the technician was very detailed oriented so I was initially glad I choose this place despite what it looked like on the inside. I felt like this place was dirty and not well kept. When I was led to my station it had a dirty pillow that was like a makeshift back rest. But nonetheless I ignored what I saw due to the yelp reviews. After the manicure, I paid, left and headed to run some errands at the domain. When I got to the domain I noticed that my middle finger had a huge bubble in it and the polish was lifting toward the edge of my nails. When I got home only 3 out of the 10 nails that I had were not lifting at the edges. All the rest of my nails had huge bubbles in them so much so that they popped when I took a shower and now half my gel manicure is gone. I am so disappointed that I trusted the yelp reviews when I should have just driven to my go-to nail place in Kyle. Needless to say unfortunately tomorrow I will be making the 45 minute drive to Kyle to have them redo my gel polish. I am so upset with the quality of this place that I do not even want to go back to have them fix my nails. All trust is lost with this place and I will never be going back. read more

My mom and I spent 4 hours there. We waited an hour because we were walk ins and then sat in the salon massage chairs for another 45 minutes. Then it took 2 hours to do the pedicure and manicure. It is best to call before going in on the same day (especially Saturday and Sunday in the summer time). The nail technicians did not do a good job on my nails and my mother's nails. They were filing my mom's nails down to half the length after she specifically asked then not to cut them short. The polish on her nails looked very unprofessional. The technician working on my nails did not clear the cuticles well and, the gel was sticking to my skin under my nails and I had to dig to get it from underneath. Also I noticed the knob inside the tub had brown spots on it and was not being disinfected when the tubs were wiped down. read more

We got the Deluxe pedicure and the massage was great! They do offer a selection of good colors which is always nice. We visited on a Saturday and they were pretty busy. The two things that I thought were unprofessional 1. We had called ahead of time and made an appointment and we ended up waiting for 25 minutes. 2. First, I was impressed that instead of ripping off my acrylics she soaked them off! I didn't even have to request it. +10points! I was also impressed by how willing Christy was to let me make changes and requests along the way. I never had almond shape before so after putting the tip on she cut just one to show me what it would look like. She also let me compare colors side by side before committing to one. She also made to sure to paint the edges and pay extra attention, like I requested. Before I started she told me what it would cost, item by item, and made sure I was ok with the price before starting. I came here with a groupon and will probably be going in on a regular basis, even without the super cheap price. I paid $15 for a full shellac manicure with a mini massage at the end (groupon price) which is usually only $30 here. They offer red wine and have tons of nail colors to choose from. While this place may not be super upscale it is definitely better quality than what you pay and the ladies are so sweet. I'm almost hesitant to write this review as I don't want the awesome secret of PJ Nails to get out! I had been searching a good, clean, reasonably priced nail salon in Austin for a long time. Most places I went to were either cheap and very crowded or very expensive. PJ Nails was reasonably priced, clean and (my favorite part) quiet! Note: The nail technicians do NOT speak English. Most have a very basic knowledge but if you need to convey something important you will need to find one of the few translators in the store. I used a Groupon for a shellac manicure. It was very good and lasted two weeks. I then went back for a pedicure (I had gotten a coupon on my first visit). While waiting for a friend, I received a neck and shoulder massage from Michelle which was GREAT! Very relaxing and worked out my trouble spots while waiting on my friend to get a manicure. I would highly recommend. It is easy to get to and right across the street from Trader Joe's in Rollingwood. What I love most is they did not seem too busy and overwhelmed with a crowd of people. After receiving an amazing Groupon deal for a shellac manicure, I went to PJ Nails & Spa. The Groupon indicated that an appointment was needed, so I called and made one for Saturday afternoon with no problem. I ended up needing to reschedule to the next day, and the person on the phone rescheduled with no problem at all. Easy peasy! The salon is in a good location, right across from Trader Joe's, easily accessible just west of Mopac off 2244. The space is bright and clean, and the staff are friendly. I arrived a little early and had plenty of time to pick a polish color. There are TONS, easily more than 100. The nail technician was great, efficient and precise. A few other things: 1) Technicians and staff are so nice and helpful. They were very friendly and was respectful, not talking amongst each other too much. I've been struggling to find a new nail salon I can come back to. I discovered this place with a Groupon for a shellac manicure. While the inside is not a high-end salon like some places I've been to, I think the quality of the work definitely overcomes the fluff. My five-star rating is going towards my overall experience, satisfaction, and likelihood to go back! I came in for a walk in appointment and was greated and offered a beverage while waiting. I had previously had white tips done and a fill by two other locations the month before. When I went in for a shellac at PJ's, they looked at my nails and tried to do the prep for the shellac, but told me they weren't able to do it because the previous people who had filled my nails filed them down to my nail beds. I didnt realize this until they said something, which was true! PJ's was so honest about it and said they could try to do the shellac, but it wouldn't look very good with the giant grooves in my nails and the shellac being so liquidy would get underneath my nail beds. They didn't want to put me in pain by filing them down even more to even out because I would have no nails left! They also explained that nail technicians are on commision, so when they do white tips and they aren't sticking very well, a person could get nervous and start filing more to try to get them to stick better - which is what happened with my nails. I appreciated their honesty so much and was at this point shocked that someone else had screwed up my nails so bad before. I asked if I could get white tips again instead, and PJs said they would be happy to apply my shellac Groupon towards the price of the white tips and let me pay the difference. They reassured me my nails would be great and they would be very gentle with me. The nail technician took her time, working hard to not file my nails more than necessary or put me in any pain. They assured me my nails would last more than two weeks (unlike the last place). Sure enough, here I am two weeks later and my white tips are no where close to falling off. They gave me a coupon for a $20 pedicure next time I come in, which I certainly will do whenever my nails need a filling! read more

I have had nothing but positive experiences here! I've had a two gel manicures, a regular manicure, and a pedicure. They have a great selection of polishes, including my personal fav - CND Vinylux, and the staff are polite and good at their job. I highly recommend Laila, who does an excellent gel manicure. She's meticulous and precise, which, in my opinion, is critical for gel manicures since your stuck with them for a while. She also gives an awesome neck massage and is really pleasant to talk to. Her services do take a little bit longer - around an hour for a gel manicure - but are well worth the wait! It's also worth noting that every time I've been there, I've noticed that the front desk staff seem to know a lot of customers by name which speaks volumes about their customer service. First I'd like to say I am one of those people who just go to the closest nail salon that I am by when I get the random thought of "hey I wanna go get my nails done right now" I am a right now kind of girl. With that being said, this place is a only a few miles away from my home (less than 5 minutes) so I think I will be making this a regular spot. I HAVE NOT came in for a pedi or man yet, only eye brow waxing. The lady did so very well and took her time with detailing them perfectly before letting me up. The salon it's self seemed very clean and had many many chairs and people working which is a huge plus for me! I am not a fan of waiting forever. I will update my review once I have come in for my mani pedi session but until now 4 stars is good, they may be pumped up to a 5 star after I come back. Parking, they have tons I was not mad about that! For my eyebrows it was only $10 which is a good price, especially for a salon in West Lake! The coolest thing was right next door is this foot massage / acupuncture place that I went into right after my waxing and was so relaxed after an hour foot and back massage!
