Coffee: fine. I had their version of a Frappucinno, which was a little on the sweet side. Husband had regular coffee. Service: preoccupied. The lone barista was really interested in shutting down, though we were half a hour from closing time. He had already started cleaning the equipment, so couldn't make the drinks I first asked about. He moved furniture in front of the bathroom and made it difficult for my husband to reach it. We finally left when he turned on the vacuum cleaner! Ambience: typical chain coffee shop. Nice view of the riverside green space from the tables outside, where we settled to enjoy our drinks once it was clear we weren't welcome within! read more

Personally, I like coffee, even PJ's, I give them the A-OK rating because I like coffee shops that have a certain vibe to them and this location is boring....yawn, but the barista is always nice. Nevertheless, the last time I dropped in for a white chocolate cappuccino they must have left a good amount behind the counter. I was very disappointed, coffee is good until the last drop and dang it, I want every drop that I paid for. I'm sure I'll be back when I visit downtown this weekend, but I'll be sure to inspect my cup next time...just to be on the safe side. read more

They actually made Starbucks seem really good. Candace doctored her coffee for at least a good five minutes trying make it edible. Dev didn't bother finishing hers and I used my chai as a hand warmer. Friendly service but not enough of it (one person to make the coffee and run the register?). The coffee (a single espresso, $2.13 including tax) was palatable, but it had nothing special going for it. The shot was way longer than I would have liked, and the beans were way darker than I would have liked. After pulling my shot, the barista left me alone in the cafe and stepped out for a smoke. Conveniently located across the street from both the Hilton Hotel and the Hotel Indigo. Only a block from the river. I ran across the street to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry on Sunday morning. he young man who greeted me was very nice. Coffee was okay, pastry was not so hot. I walked down to the river and enjoyed my purchases on a bench on the levee. It was convenient and not bad, but I wouldn't seek this place out. read more

Ever since the close of CC's Coffee House downtown, I started to only frequent Strand's. Today, I decided to change-it-up and head to PJ's Coffee. I have always liked PJ's, but haven't been to one since they closed the one off Essen (bummer) and only have the other one at the L'Auberge Casino. This cafe is fairly small, but they have coffee and wi-fi and that's all I really care about. The temperature was a tad bit cold, but I got used to it quickly. There were 2 baristas assisting customers, so my order was taken care of in a jiffy and I was able to sit and work on my laptop for a bit. It was fairly kick-back in there, not overly busy, nor was it loud, so I got to work in peace. One cup of coffee is all I need and I usually sip it as I work, so I can say I bought something and didn't just go in there to use their free wi-fi. Is it me, or don't you feel naked in a cafe without wi-fi? It's almost like back in the day, when I used to leave the house without my watch on. Every place should have wi-fi now because they can seriously deter people away if they are without it, so why risk it? Anyway, I was glad to have my hot coffee and my wi-fi and was happy as a clam. I saw that they had some pastries, but didn't feel like carb-loading just before going to lunch at Stroubes. Don't know where PJ's Coffee is downtown? I loved finding this coffee shop when I was in Baton Rouge! We tried the iced coffee, mocha latte (which was my fav) & regular hot coffees! The WiFi code being printed out on the bottom of the receipt was helpful. I didn't have to ask anyone. Also love the location being so close to the Mississippi River. You can grab your coffee & walk right over to the river. We made several trips to PJ's before heading back home. read more

PJ's is practically the only coffee shop left downtown and it's pretty much the only reason why I come. The service is good but the coffee really lacks. The pricing is also very high in comparison to other coffee shops. I had a mid-morning craving for a frozen coffee so I got their signature Granita and it was not good. Considering it is premade, I may have just gotten a bad batch. I'm not impressed. read more

I was visiting Baton Rouge from out of town and needed an afternoon pick-me-up. Unfamiliar with PJ's coffee, I ventured in with my husband and explored the menu. The sweet young gal at the counter greeted us and I asked her about the ginger peach iced tea, she told me she highly recommended it as it is her favorite and so I was excited to try it. I ordered that and my husband ordered an iced cappuccino, another unique item on the menu. We both got our drinks quickly and enjoyed them very much. The coffee has a really nice sweet flavor (not sugary) and is not too bitter or acidic and the iced tea was really delicious and refreshing! Overall, I am a fan and hope to return to PJ's or purchase some of their coffee and teas to take home! read more

Nope sorry. Doesn't cut it. Visited on the weekend recently. The menu's on the overhead boards are confusing and hard to read. Young teenage girls working at the counter, more concerned about playing with their phones than on customers. Seemed a little put off that they have to deal with pesky customers which diverted them away from flirting with the young male customers. I asked for a pastry with my coffee and their entire attitude was "No, we don't have that." And really unhelpful. So I got my coffee and walked out and one of them told me to "Have a nice day" in a snotty attitude. I walked back to the counter and said, I want a refund of my coffee it tastes bad. She said, we don't give refunds. I just left it there and left. Won't be back. I asked who is the manager and she said no manager is here, and gave me some name. The problem is that whomever owns or manages this place, isn't doing a good job. Allowing immature kids to work a downtown coffee counter. read more

We stayed across the street at Hotel Indigo and stopped in for coffee on our way out the next morning (7/7/18). We ordered two almond milk lattes and upon receiving them they were very lukewarm, and frankly not well made (no espresso taste at all, just very milky). We ended up taking them back for the temperature issue alone and the woman working said "well you got those 30 minutes ago". It had actually been 5-10 minutes at most. She then offered to re-steam the existing drinks and only remade them when my husband insisted on it. She was pretty rude and not interested in making sure we were satisfied with our drinks. Even after they were remade, while they were much hotter, it was still a bad latte and I couldn't even finish it. I wouldn't recommend PJ's Coffee. read more

This place boasts New Orleans/Louisiana/Southern coffees, flavors, & traditions, but I'd say that they missed the mark. I come here at least once every few months just because it's often the only coffee place open downtown, but it's definitely my last resort. Everything I've ordered has either tasted burnt, the flavoring has been off, or in the case of anything chai-related, just tastes like milk with a drop of chai in it - definitely not enough to make it taste right. It's alright enough to drink in a pinch, but not good enough for me to actually want to go there, especially considering their prices. read more

Friendliest baristas I've ever encountered!! They always make you feel welcome and the coffee is wonderful! The wifi is most definitely free and they will give you the password without hesitation despite what other users might have to say. (I'd recommend trying a dirty chai latte, I've tried to get them at other coffee shops and it's just never as good as PJs Downtown!) read more

I've been to this location no fewer than 10 times and it is only because of the convenience factor since my hotel is across the street. The prices are too high, the coffee is lacking, and the service is mediocre -- and that is on the good days. They have a variety is pastries that they will heat up for you but a bacon, egg and cheese bagel will run you close to $7. If you have a car, use it to drive somewhere else for breakfast. read more

My first time visiting the State of Louisiana was not so grandiose...In fact I was completely adamant on never returning....And then I stumbled upon this spectacular café...WowPJ's Coffee....Totally made up for the poor geographical and socially unacceptable experience I had in Louisiana....Truly amazingly friendly service....Excellent Breakfast, Lunch and fabulous original coffee and or of vast variety...Add this establishment as a must!!! Did I just pay $8 for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on an English muffin here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana? Yes, I did. Was it worth $8 for said sandwich? Absolutely not.... First off, the egg is a Sysco pre-made egg. The bacon is also something similar, pre-made and warmed up in a microwave. The cheese is shiny cheese, lower quality than what you get on an egg mcmuffin at mcdonalds. All of that for $8. But what bothers me the most is that this establishment does not even mark the price of their breakfast sandwiches clearly, they only advertise that they have these sandwiches for sale with no price next to them. After ringing me up for a small coffee and this ridiculously priced bacon egg and cheese, the barista says "That will be $11.50.". My mouth hit the floor, but at that point I was already in too deep, so I said go ahead. Big mistake and I will never visit this establishment again. Sorry, BR is not San Francisco and if you're gonna charge prices like this for this kind of quality, I will not come to patronize you. read more

Had the chance to stop into this PJ'S coffee recently.Its located in downtown Baton Rouge.There were folks sitting and enjoying the atmosphere of the area ..I enjoyed the Southern Pecan iced coffee. The flavors and aroma of the coffee had my nose feeling all kinds of good... The staff was extra friendly checking on me constantly during my visit. There was a young man with a fro who was cracking jokes the entire time. There was also a young lady, maybe 25 or so who was very helpful and suggested several restaurants in the area. This PJ'S was very clean and worth the visit...I suggest that you stop in if ever in the downtown Baton Rouge area. read more
