I walked into this PJ's just now. There was one person ahead of me who had just ordered two drinks (nothing too complicated). It took 10+ minutes to give my order and another 5+ to get my drink. The "dirty chai" is almost undrinkable. It doesn't even taste like the right drink. But i didn't want to hold up the growing line and risk wasting more time. So i swallowed the loss of $9 and 20 minutes, but can't swallow this awful beverage. Horrible from start to finish. read more

I usually leave reviews after I've been to an establishment several times but today calls for an exception. I was so pleased with the customer service from the staff at PJ's. As soon as I walked in I was greeted kindly and because it was my first time the staff was patience with me as I browsed the menu selections. The area I live in is without internet due to the storm and I really needed to find a place that I could work for several hours today. PJ's Coffee is it! I'm new to the city and this is certainly a place I will frequent often because of the service I received today. The magazine street location is spacious and has multiple rooms that you can work from. I really loved the large courtyard in the back. This PJs is one of my family's all time favorite spots to gather and chat over coffee!!! My dad grew up on Jefferson nearby, so growing up, when this Pjs came to town on Mag, we were soooooo excited!!! It's been the best ever since!!! I have coffee with my immediate and extended fam there all the time! They have a spacious interior in the back, front house seating, a few small tops out front along beautiful magazine, and a large courtyard patio in the back when the weather is just right for enjoying the outdoors. Staff is always friendly and helpful! Coffee is top notch, we love it, always!!! Thanks PJs for all of your special locations, and especially for this wonderful one that our family enjoys so often! 100/10, 10000 stars if I could!!! I'll be back, like tomorrow. This was my first time at this PJ's location, and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is really cool; it looks like it used to be a house, and it is very spacious on the inside once you walk to the back of the shop. I got an Iced Chai Tea Latte with Almond Milk and a shot of espresso--it was really good but all the add-ins did make it a little pricey. PJ's Coffee offered me a unique sort of cold brew that I would highly recommend. In addition the pecan cold brew I tried they also had a variety of offerings (a seasonal pumpkin version also caught my eye). This pecan-infused cold brew was super unique to me (as a cold brew aficionado) and when I added some cold foam on top it was a definite winner. There are several PJ's Coffee locations around New Orleans and although they don't have the classic NOLA chicory coffee I think they are worth a visit for the cold brew at least! read more

I work in the area, so I am in all the time. The coffee is great and the people are amazing. I am able to bring my dog in with me. She looks forward to getting a dog treat out of the jar next to the register. I look forward to the mean latte they make there...it gets this caffeine junky though the morning! I'm not terribly prone to superlatives, but PJ's simply has the very best iced coffee I've ever had. I typically tend to go for an iced Americano when the weather turns warm, b/c most iced coffee I've tried tastes too weak and watered down by all the ice. Unless, of course it's a toddy, but not everywhere has those and I just prefer the nutty roasted flavor of Americanos. PJ's not only uses the slow drip brewing method, but they also brew it with vanilla bean, according to the barista. The result is a terrifically smooth brew that you won't want to sully with milk nor sugar. I've never had iced coffee taste so good. It'll get you through the day with a smile, Hell, you might even find yourself ambitious enough to scrub your entire house while singing the jazz standard "Black Coffee" at the top of your lungs repeatedly (not me, of course). I also feel like this location is a lot cozier and more comfy than CC's across the street. Bonus points for a courtyard, too! I will never order an iced Americano again if PJs iced coffee is an option! read more

This PJ's is nestled in a tiny location near Life Yoga and across the street from a more obvious Community Coffee. Once you find it, it's worth it. You will most likely have difficulty parking around this area but there are some cool shops nearby that you can checkout after your PJs visit. I like that as you walk in there are a few seats near the counter, but then you can walk up the stairs to another room with more seating and then go even further back into a room with a couch, tv, and more tables. I love coffee shops with comfy seating like couches. Note: definitely choose to sit inside- one big downfall of this location is that the two tables outside are next to an alley with large trash cans that are stinky, stinky, stinky. I also left being covered in mosquito bites after 30 minutes. While I was here the other day, the espresso machine was being fixed (or maybe just maintained). So, I settled for an ice coffee and after adding four sugars I would give it a three out of five. Not awful tasting, not great either. I found that they make their chai from a syrup (yuck!) and was not impressed with that. There were minimal snacks and pastries when I was there- i'm not sure if they had run out of if they just usually only have a few items. (see my photos). I will definitely check back and update the review. I ordered a sesame bagel and was told that they are brought over from a local bakery! The bagels were rock hard and I was surprised that they would sell them to me like that. (okay they got a little better after being toasted). I was offered little tubs of creamed cheese and it's a do-it-yourself toasting situation. Takes credit cards including Amex! read more

I was once a huge PJs fan...like maybe 10 or 15 years ago. But then the corporate management changed or they were all sold or something... And the feeling is just different. I stopped in today for the first time in ages. And just needed to grab a couple of iced beverages for me & Mom. The counter person was quick and friendly (so that brought them up to 3 stars). But, seriously, the shop was trashed with food all over the floor and detritus all about. It makes me sad that this (my once fave PJs location) is so blah now. read more

I like this PJ's! And of course I'm all about supporting local businesses as well. This PJ's is in the heart of the Jefferson/Magazine street area. Tons of cute shops, restaurants, etc! They are building a drive through Walgreens here. Also there is the Whole Foods which is awesome albeit difficult to park. Then one of my favorite pizza joints Slice is here too. Also, Earthsavers has great massages and cute gift items in their shop! I usually get soy chai lattes when I hit a coffee shop. This pj's has a step with a back room for the serious studyents which is nice. Happy Coffe shop relaxing! read more

Damn Pjs I really underestimated your spinach and feta croissant but that thing was DELICIOUS! It also comes with artichoke which makes it even better. I usually get the sausage and egg biscuit which is also quite good but they were out today so I went with the croissant and I am actually so glad they were out. The guy working with red hair (sorry didn't grab your name!) was really helpful, sweet, cute, and even gave me the Magazine st. discount since I volunteer at the yoga studio next door. Although it has the bones of a good coffee shop, it falls well short of that potential. The help is a bit scatter brained and the coffee is ok. They served us a very stale chocolate cookie at an outrageous price. The place has a nice front sitting area along with a raised center area and nice back yard worth visiting. My old after-school PJ's, cleaned up with an actual proper back door that works. Still a little dodgy, and still filled with girls from Sacred Heart looking angry and smoking (though being on Facebook now instead of listening to C&C Music Factory on their Discman) No more NOCCA students, though. Fabulous iced coffee, nice staff, great bagels (but bring back the scoops of cream cheese-- those pots are crap!), and just good solid coffee. If they had semi-skimmed/2% milk, all would be well with the world. read more

Can't help but have a soft spot for PJ's, since I went to Tulane. Their hot coffee isn't spectacular, but their pastries are on point (from Laurel St bakery, I believe) and the rest of their drinks are addictively delicious. What really puts the cherry on my sundae, is the customer service. I recently visited and ordered my usual hot mocha, which is a fairly simple order to fill and my expectations were met above and beyond my standards. Thanks especially to Bri Lentz who ensured she had everything exactly right with my order. I have never had someone ensure the quality of my brew was going to be exactly to my specifications so precisely. Hire more people like Bri and give that girl a raise! A fantastic courtyard,terrific atmosphere, and PJ's usual competent brew. Baristas are the traditional PJ's hipper-than-thou set, but friendly enough. Until. Our drama begins at 7:30 on any given weeknight. Certain baristas begin to feel that the night is dragging on too long. A customer coming in after 8 might detect a certain reluctance of manner. It is impossible to miss the pointed, repetitive-to-the-point-of-OCD sweeping of the sitting-rooms: a meaningful glare seems to say, "I have swept. You may leave. At. Any. Time. That. Suits. Yourgoddamself." A customer coming in at 8:30 might detect what can only be described as thinly veiled hostility. "Why," the barista seems to ask, "the f***k are you coming in here? I have neither the will nor the means to serve you." What he actually says is, "Oh, we seem to be out of...." (Note. They are probably not out of anything. Except patience. You are requiring energies that they require for going home to smoke weed.) At this stage, one does not yet suspect that the barista is spitting in one's iced coffee, but one begins to suspect that the barista would rather run an ice-pick through one's heart than serve one. If one comes in to the Magazine PJ's after 8:45, one can see the strain on the barista's face as he inquires, "How can I help you?" One suspects that what he means is, "Can I serve you a spermatazoa frappé followed by your own gore?" A pronounced we-are-about-to-close menace pervades the place. In a way, it's a sort of cosmic drama. It is sometimes a near thing whether the barista will leap over the counter and assault one, and so it is a bit like Camus' "The Stranger" in its existential momentum, or perhaps like Greek tragedy, the tightly wound spring and the inevitable hamartia leading to a fall. Naturally, everybody who has worked in food service knows this feeling, and has lobbied one's senator for a food-service exception to Murder Two. We all know what this is like. But the man is being asked to prepare a velvet cocoa, not a roast ox. In general, therefore, I enjoy this PJ's in the mid-morning, or the early afternoon. But there is too much of Paradise Lost about it after seven at night to recommend it. One day, it might well end up on the news. read more

PJ's is to Peet's what Community Coffee House is to Sbux. PJ's appears to be the more hipster, less mainstream coffee house of the region. Good coffee, adequate staff, typical cafe environment. Nuff said. Note that this particular location has a neat, little courtyard in the back. There are also some cool murals painted on the back fence. read more

I'm all for local. I definitely think that there's absolutely no reason you should even think about Starbucks if you live in New Orleans and care about keeping its culture alive.
