I wanted to do some reading outside of home so I went to Congregation to grab a snack and sit for a while. I walked in and the place wasn't crowded (probably due to the rain that day), but I was able to place my order quickly. I received my snack and drink quickly and sat. If you are looking to visit to read or study or do work, I do recommend you bring noise canceling headphones if sounds distract you. I get distracted The ceiling is high so noise is amplified, especially once other patrons occupy the space. But I enjoyed my time here. I was able to block out everything and get a nice amount of chapters covered. The tart was really good. Very toasty and flaky and the right amount of lemon. The honey tahini is my go-to beverage here, and it was delicious as always. This is a nice little neighborhood cafe! read more

This place is amazing. The vibes, the people, the drinks -- 10/10. The baristas were so fun and gave great suggestions. I love a chai but am very particular and this chai was nice and spicy, flavorful, and so smooth. The cappuccino was so good we purchased beans. We also got a mug because of how cute it was. Shoutout to the locals who shared their stories, display their artwork, and introduced us to Tugboat (a large sweet baby of a Rottweiler). This location is always busy and is a popular spot for a caffeine fix, especially for people in the Algiers Point Area. It's a great place to work, hang out, or just get some stuff to go. I've done the latter two, and will soon be trying the first option. I like to bring my own coffee cup (reuse!) and get it filled with fresh black coffee. The "large" is a small at every other coffee shop, but they'll charge you the same price. They constantly mess up orders (it's happened to me only once but I see it so much it's wild). The coffee can't be beat! I always get a cappuccino made with half-and-half and it's divine! I often get a chocolate croissant because those are delicious and there's much more chocolate in them than other places that you go to. Today, however I got a blackberry danish - delicious! The service there is incomparable. The Baristas know most people by name and they're generous and kind and cheerful all the time! And because I am somewhat wobbly on my l they often bring my coffee out to me so I don't have to carry it. The ambience is perfect! With the beaded board walls, stained glass in the windows, and high high ceilings, the place says 19th century to me! You get the feeling of being in an old building but one that is well kept! Also, the music that's playing is very subtle and relaxing, and the artwork on the walls is colorful and interesting with poetry woven into it. Congregation Coffee deserves wayyy more hype. This is such a quaint, nice place with delicious pastries and coffee. They have oat milk as a dairy-free milk option, and the honey tahini syrup is delicious. I do wish they had more savory pastry/food options, but I loved it, and will definitely be back. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. *Note that due to the pandemic, they changed their hours from 8am-1pm.* I just barely made it - getting there about 12:30 last Saturday. Also, due to the pandemic, they do not allow inside seating. There is a walk up counter right at the door and then they give you your drink at a counter at the other door. There are a few tables outside you can sit at. I got an iced latte. It was very good. If i'm in the area again, I will definitely come back here! read more

I love Congregation Coffee. While I have never been to their storefront in person, I have ordered their coffee and merchandise via their website! I highly recommend their green mugs IF you can get your hands on one. This order you see here is a limited edition shirt with artwork on the back. It is really cute and soft! I love their Ethiopia coffee-I order my beans whole, although you can request them ground in several ways. This is a wonderful coffee that has the right proportion of sweet and bitter. I enjoy it black, or with a little milk depending on the mood. This is becoming a house staple. Their Alto Cold Brew is wonderful too. I think it is the best cold brew I have made so far at home, but is perfectly packaged for travel. I love their Instagram as well-they are active on social media and I regularly enjoy their updates. A BREATH OF FRESH AIR to an area that was a bit too quiet for my liking.... On one of our last days in New Orleans, we decided to leave the areas we have already gotten to know (and love), and explore something completely different. We crossed the Mississippi via the Ferry and explore Algiers (15th Ward of New Orleans)... We never heard much about Algiers, we came with no plan of "what to do" and "what to see"... I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a bit bored. Walking up and down a few different streets we did see some stuff of interest like Rose Tree Glass Blowing Studio and the Mississippi River Trail but it was most pleasant when we caught a whiff of fresh coffee in the air. Congregation appears to be inside of an old home... The inside is very open and the staff seemed to be quite focused on packaging bags of coffee. And of course they did have a service counter too. I had a large cup of their Iced Coffee... strong, just as I like it. read more

So happy to have found this cool little place last Sunday; the weather was mild and the doors were open and the fans were on. Although it was crowded, it had the most serene vibe I've felt in a long time anywhere--it was delightful!! I loved that they retained the original look of the building that brings you back a century or more. 3 stars with some room for improvement. This place literally just opened about two weeks ago, so I appreciate that they are still trying to figure things out. I stopped in here for an iced coffee, after seeing some mumbles about this place online. The shop itself is really cute, if not easy to miss. Yes, I walked past it twice because I'm not super familiar with the area and it kind of blends in with the rest of the buildings. The atmosphere is nothing to speak of- there are a few tables and chairs that don't really do much for me (my table was wobbly and I almost spilled my drink when I sat down) and a "family style" table on the side with a lot of seating. The staff is really friendly and welcomed me when I walked in, but I have two major complaints. First of all, before I even walked in I could hear the music blaring from inside. Once inside, there was loud rock music playing- not what I was expecting and I didn't like that at all. I go to coffee shops to relax and I just couldn't relax with that music playing. My other complaint is the heat. I was here in the mid-afternoon and, because there are a lot of windows, the shop is quite warm. It was so warm that I eventually had to leave because the warmth of the shop coupled with the music was making me uncomfortable. I wish they had more pastries or even sandwiches. The coffee was good, so I would probably stop in for some iced coffee to go, but I wouldn't stick around. read more

10/10 for coffee and service, 0/10 for the new breakfast sandwich. Let me preface this with I love breakfast sandwiches, they are my jam, I go out of my way to find them or make them. I used to LOVE Congregation's breakfast sandwich - it was on a delicious hearty biscuit with pickled red onions, Tabasco mayo, and of course, eggs. It slapped! This new one is wildly different from the old one, unrecognizable really. They're now using a brioche bun instead of the biscuit, but brioche doesn't hold up to the weight of the eggs. They are also now adding what I think is a slice of American cheese which is wrapped inside the eggs, read gooey, it feels like an afterthought. Pickled red onions win out over pickled greens imo. This new breakfast sandwich is $12 vs the old price of $8.50.. I understand inflation and I'd gladly pay $12 for the OG sandwich, but not for this sad sammy. Might come back for coffee on occasion, but will be holding off on food until the return of the old (or something similar to it) breakfast sandwich. read more
