Had to resolve some confusion due to the police claiming my sister's car. Our father died recently, so the car was not yet transferred to her. The young men behind the counter were helpful. BIt odd as last time I was there (a very long time ago), I was on the other side, as a Police Explorer Scout. I don't understand what it is with the police departments but there never trying to help nor do the right thing. The first time I came in to drop off a cellphone that I found. The phone had no cell service so there was no way to contact the owner. The first thing he said was I can't tell you what do you do BUT you should return it in the city you found it in. Why are you directing me to go some where else but tell me I can't tell you what to do? I'm here trying to the right thing and you're making it harder on me? It's like you don't want to do your job. Multiple shootings have happened right across the street, and the "detectives" who investigated couldn't find their ass with both hands. In December I was unable to reach a friend by phone or find anyone to contact her. Contacted the Placentia Police Dept to request welfare check. Shortly after report I received phone notification that a welfare check was done the night before and my friend had passed away. There was a car that had a serious front end accident parked in front of my house since Thursday . I called Placentia Police on Friday notifying them a disabled car was left in front of my house. They sent someone the same day to mark the car and the spot. Today is July 4. The car was still parked in front of my house. It is now over 96 hours. Police is notified again. Officer Drew came within hours. He investigated and found a note with the owner's phone number. He called the owner and he came out promising the car will be towed away tomorrow. I live in Placentia over 35 years. I am very proud of the police force of Placentia. On this Independence Day, I salute to your integrity and effort in serving the community. read more

The most incompetent Police Department I have ever dealt with.. why do our tax dollars even go to pay for this place? They are lazy! They refuse to do their jobs. I've dealt with them 3 different times and all 3 times have been fruitless. One: I was dating a guy who posed as another person. I told Placentia PD that I feared for my life but they said there was nothing they could. They couldn't take a report as "no crime" had been committed. Two: A friend had a bag stolen from their car and had her car window busted open in the Crunch Gym parking lot. The officer came out and said that there was nothing that they could do. They could only take a report. They couldn't get surveillance or anything. And three: TODAY, Sam's Club parking lot was backed up. It was a complete mess. People were stuck in the parking lot for 45 mins to an hour just trying to get out. There's constriction so I believe the light sensors are not working. At first, the young and incompetent dispatcher said that the Sam's belongs to Fullerton so there was nothing Placentia could do. So, I called Fullerton PD. I told them what was going on. They told me that the intersection is ran by Placentia PD. Fullerton PD called Placentia PD for me. Then, I called Placentia PD. They tell me that they cannot send traffic control out unless there was something wrong with the light. I told them that there is clearly something wrong with the lights given that we had all been stuck in the parking lot for a long time. The dispatcher tells me that I have to call the number for the Golden Light company: 4084495178. Are you freaking kidding me?! I called the company and reported the problem. This isn't freeway traffic! This was a PARKING LOT! There's a difference. It's dangerous to leave people stranded like that! Placentia PD is f'ing pathetic and a waste of our tax dollars. They do nothing. They help no one. They need to learn from surrounding Police stations, Police stations that actually give a damn and do their jobs correctly. It is a tough job and you have to put up with a lot of BS. I have a lot of friends who are cops and the girl who broke my heart is now a cop. +Going to the Police is something you wish you never have to do. I've been a member of Placentia for several years now. I also grew up in West Yorba Linda, and attended elementary, middle, and high school in "P-Town". The Placentia Police Department has long been respected and admired by its citizens. They offer Neighborhood Watch Programs, do fantastic work at National Night Out, teach a 10-week Citizens Academy course, and much more. Recently, Chief Darin Lenyi, promoted and transferred to the department. The open-door policy they have, in regards to communication and keeping an active involvement with the community, is amazing. read more

The police department honestly isn't that good, they just gave 5 cars tickets for nothing basically, they had one intersection not PROPERLY closed off correctly. Didn't even give warning signs, It was like a TRAP for an EXCUSE to give tickets out. Yeah not so friendly either! I guess they got nothing better to do, had to call 4 cops to give out infraction tickets? yeah there's worse offensive violators out there then everyday working people just trying to reach their destination. Apparently there must be no crime going on in Placentia, because Officer Miles went out of his way to drive into my townhome complex and ticket me for parking on my own blacktop in front of my own garage ($47) and not having current tags ($75). A simple license plate check would have shown I did have current registration and tags, but did not have the tags displayed yet. Long story short, I went to the DMV to get a sign off on the tags and contested the parking violation. $122 in violations was reduced to a $10 fine for a proof of correction fee, and even THAT was refunded. So my question for Officer Miles is, does it still count towards your quota when I beat both of the bogus violations you gave me? I gave two stars instead of one, because I do have a high respect for police and the dangerous job they have. A police officer's job is to protect and serve the community, not to try to extort money by being a glorified meter maid. Plenty of times, I see officers from Placentia and Brea just parked in the dark waiting to ticket drivers on their way to work instead of patrolling the streets and trying to prevent crimes and make the area safe. read more

Great police, helpful desk, fun alternative events including the police and their families. The safety patrol officer is another story. Lived here 10 years and always wondered why the safety patrol officer sites/tickets mine and all of my close neighbors. He has drama with my neighbor from their high school days at Valencia. So the safety patrol car rolls around and sites peoples houses who are near those people he has beef with from 50 years ago. 'Emotional damage'. I absolutely encourage the actual police because they are always great and clear minded. Don't know about those people in the safety cars though. read more

Horrible. They hand out parking tickets for ANYTHING this could possibly find. Half inch over the the "max" space you can be from the curb?? Ticket. No street sweeping signs on certain streets?? Ticket anyways. I've seen them give a fix it ticket to the same girl 3 times even after proving she was fixing the registration. Reported a case of fraud that recently happened to me. Someone hacked my Best Buy account and placed an expensive order. They had it shipped to their address in Placentia. I filed a police report and included proof of the fraud, including my conversations with Best Buy support confirming the fraud, yet nothing was done. I didn't even get a response from the Placentia police department. read more

if you have an emergency and need the police called, placentia pd should be your absolute last option, because they love to do a whole lot of nothing for the people of placentia. several times now (we're talking over the span of several years) i have called placentia pd and it has taken them literal hours to show up despite the fact that we live two blocks away from them, if they showed up at all. the most recent instance of this was when we called them at three in the morning because someone our family used to have a restraining order against due to aggressive stalking was outside of our house, rapping on our windows and refusing to leave our property. we gave them the appropriate details and waited on the couch for ~45 minutes, and nobody showed up. we waited another hour or two after that and still, nothing, as far as i can tell. not a phone call, not a word. if this was in the middle of the day, i'd understand a bit more: he wasn't being violent, just creepy and trespassing on private property, even though they still should have swung by and made sure he actually left. but it was three in the morning, hours i assume aren't insanely busy for a city as small as ours, and they apparently still couldn't find the time to send someone out after several hours to even check the situation out. beyond incompetent. read more

I live about eight hours away and have never been to this city. I got a notice on my registration renewal saying I had a parking ticket down there. AAA and the DMV were no help. Went in to the police office today and the Lady that worked window saw me there after I hit the bell to get assistance she tells me she is coming and the continues to eat a few bits before coming to assistant me! They have horrible customer service for people who are suppose to protect and service the community they had the least bit Concern towards my problem and I'm very disappointed and also upset with this horrible experience and it doesn't help bring any trust into our policing force! read more

The cops in this city respond to a parking violation faster than to an actual threat. An example of this would be when it comes to someone chasing you for more than a city away and almost rear ending you and following you home to possibly do bodily damage. read more

We had a minor fender bender in which the other party took off. We called he non emergency line on Halloween night and 3 patrol cars showed up in less then 5 minutes. One officer stayed behind while the other 2 went looking for the Silver Blue Chrysler 300 that hit us. Officer that stayed was really helpful and took our statements and wrote his report in less then 10 minutes. Great response time and very professional officers. read more

Thank you so much for following through when I called today for a non-emergency. My grandson's carseat was not placed properly in my car and when I got on the 57 freeway he tipped completely over to one side. I immediately got off the freeway at Orangethorpe and attempted to correct it. I just could not get it back in the car! I call my husband, no answer. Call AAA, no assistance available, call PPD and they also said they "were not licensed to place carseats into cars? I was beside myself. My daughters were both at work, my sons dad is out of town and I didn't have my neighbors phone numbers. After an hour I finally called by daughter at work. Just before she arrived a PPD officer came by and made it very clear she was not licensed to install the seat but as a mom herself asked me if she could help. I told her I would wait. She stayed and talked to my grandson Louis, and kept him safe and occupied while my daughter re-installed the carseat. I really want to thank her and the lady on the phone who understood my situation and did what they could to help! The officers name is N CAMPOS ID #2163 i don't know the other lady's name.
