My car got stolen and I called them but they did nothing, didnt even open up a report, why? because they said I didnt have the car registration on me, the car registration is kept in the car or should I take it out every time I step out. No tickets no crime. But we have a $200 fee for a vehicle release.. How can this be justified.. Tax dollars are not enough. And Southside towing must be in bed with someone in the Department. They demanded the vehicle release that costs $200 .. Wonder why the office didn't ask if we wanted the car towed to our house? As of today we still don't have a accident report. From the front office to the detective I spoke to, everyone was nice here. Whenever we've had issues in my neighborhood, there are always officers to help. They come reasonably fast and are usually friendly and helpful. We had a break in on our street recently, and we started seeing an increase in officers patrolling our neighborhood right away. The extra police presence these last few weeks has been appreciated. I think this is one of the hardest working police departments around, and I am grateful for their service in our community. read more

I don't ever have issues with police departments. BUT, one officer in particular I'm assuming it's officer c trippy. I was taking video of the protest and got pulled over because my phone ofcourse BUT I was pulled over by one officer by another name. So I looked it up and it said C TRIPPY could have called it in to the motorcycle cop. But when I arrived back ti the protest I realized a Caucasian "thicker" officer looking straight at me and was laughing. And I just realized it was more than likely that that was the officer that's on my ticket. But why laugh? Was he happy to give me a ticket? Laughing that I came back? Or just happy to catch a supporting protester. Well whatever the case I stopped working in Orange and realize I only really liked Felix's in Orange. I don't understand how laughing and making it noticeable was to help any situation. How petty this officer must be to not just move on with his life. If he doesn't like people having freedom of speech maybe he shouldn't patrol a PROTEST! Thats the only reason I could come up with as to why it was important to laugh at me. I feel bad for any melanated folks that may live in Orange because if he is the best of the department that's a NO THANKS for me! We have had numerous interactions with the O.P.D. over the years. They have proved to be extremely responsive and helpful. If you get a chance, enroll in the Citizens Police Academy where you learn all about the inner workings of our local P.D. and can then sign up as a police department volunteer. The O.P.D. also has a CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) program with classes offered a couple times a year. If you want to get involved, these are two awesome ways to GET involved! They also have events such as "Coffee With A Cop" where you can get to know the officers on a one on one basis! They are truly a bunch of amazing, caring guys and gals! read more

I was seeing a friend of mine. He has some mental issues and also had problems with going out with younger girls so he's known as a chomo in our group. Just out of nowhere I was assaulted while my back was turned to him. He decided to choke me out for over 30 seconds (knocked the air of my lungs out) also punched and kicked me while I was down wheezing gasping for air. we have mutual friends and I was told that the detective contacted the guy who assaulted me. And I was told the detective. From what I was told by my friend that knows the guy who assaulted me, he claimed that the man he spoke to "didn't really do anything other than asking questions" and even though there are 2 witnesses to the incident, the man who assaulted me still isn't in cuffs. I suppose now in Orange County it's allowed to assault anyone just as long as you're white and there's no cameras recording you can do anything you can beat whoever you want kick them while they're down. Beat them until they're unconscious. Thanks detective Nelson I really was hoping he would at least help me but I guess he wasn't able to retrieve enough evidence. My brother and I tried to go to every business we could around the area and we begged to see the footage so I can give to the detective. Unfortunately they said only the detective can get that info. I feel like detective Nelson either believes I'm lying or just doesn't believe a crime had occurred. Either way if you think you're going to get justice, think again. read more

My experiences with both officer D Zavala and C Trippy were not good ones. I was in an automobile accident and officer Zavala arrived on scene after I placed a called for police assistance. He was unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful to both my mother and I. Officer Trippy was the other officer who arrived to take the police report. Not only do I feel that he intentionally omitted things from the police report in regard to my statement; I feel that he was dishonest with both my mother and I on scene. We asked a very straight forward question about the legality of how the other individual involved in the accident was traveling in the center left turn lane on Glassel and River and he told us that it was not legal to travel for more than 200 feet. He literally said this to us while his body cam was on and said "don't quote me." I reiterated to him multiple times that the other driver had entered the turn lane hundreds of feet back in an attempt to pass stopped traffic and not only did he omit this from the report he didn't even take into consideration what I said. Yet, included where the other driver said she entered the lane which was a lie. Additionally, he wrote me a citation after the fact so now I have to deal with traffic school on top of insurance and injuries I have from this accident. This is not the first negative experience I have had with Orange PD either, but I chalked the first one up to a one off, but now I'm seeing a theme. It's wild to me that there is over 50 reviews on this Yelp and over half of them are 1 star reviews. The first experience I had with orange PD was when I called for assistance and no one ever showed up. I own a home here in orange and called when there was a car full of late teen/early 20 something olds in front of my house inhaling dust off (computer cleaner) I am a social worker who works in substance use and I know the risk that this inhalant causes not just to the individuals using it but the people in the community who are put in harms way when someone who is operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of this. I will truly think twice about calling Orange PD for assistance because I honestly do not think that any of their officers care about the well-being of our community or the individuals who live here. read more

Sadly my case statute of limitations ran out because the Orange Police Department did absolutely nothing on my case for 3 years. The case involved residential burglary and auto theft. This was for two felonies. All I was told was that they had "too many cases". I called and left voicemails over 25 times with no response until the time when detectives informed me that the statue of limitations ran out. This is a useless and terrible group of individuals who don't serve the people and protect the people and community. Luckily I have contacted other law enforcement agencies that have the information they need to protect and serve . read more

On February 11, 2021, I faxed and mailed a request to the Records Bureau for a copy of an incident report; I was the victim of a property crime on January 21, 2021. On February 18, 2021, the Defendant appeared in Orange County Superior Court and was arraigned. On February 18, 2021, I called the Records Bureau for status and, in a recorded telephone conversation, was told that the incident report for the case would be released to me but only in person. I was transferred to the Police Records Supervisor who indicated to me, in a recorded telephone conversation, that she would e-mail the incident report for the case to me upon receipt of documentation that I am the informant. On February 18, 2021, at 2:51 PM, I e-mailed documentation to the Police Records Supervisor that I am the informant, and the Police Records Supervisor e-mailed me, at 4:15 PM, "Thank you very much for this information. I will review it and get back to you." On February 18, 2021, at 5:17 PM, I e-mailed additional documentation to the Police Records Supervisor that I am the informant. On February 19, 2021, at 6:32 AM, I e-mailed additional documentation to the Police Records Supervisor that I am the informant, and the Police Records Supervisor e-mailed me, at 6:05 PM, "Thank you for the information you provided me. At this time, with an on-going investigation, I am not able to release the report." The police showed up at my house dragged me outside and had me sit on the curb. One of the officers was arguing with my dad and my dad brought up my being mental as a minor they took my phone and threw it, put me in handcuffs, and illegally took me to a mental hospital. upon arrival, they put me in a wheelchair, and it kept moving, so I stood up to move the chair and they grabbed me by the shoulder blade slammed me to the wheelchair, and said "Knock off my bullish**, I'm not your dad" they cussed me out and had told the doctor I destroyed the house which was not true. they told the doctor that I would end up in the psych unit and would inject me and the doctor said he would kill me and he wouldn't be arrested. I told them about my dad's abuse as a kid, and they did not care and let me go back to my dad. please do not trust the police here, they are not helpful. read more

I reported a vehicle hit and run that damaged my car. I followed the guy, cornered him and took photos of him and both vehicles. The guy could barely speak English and claimed no registration and no insurance and no driver's license, and it was his sister's vehicle. He was intoxicated and I suspected an illegal alien. The Orange PD traffic investigator refused to follow up, even though they of course verified the registered owner by the license plate. I think his name was Hightower. He refused to identify the vehicle owner so I could sue for damages. Then Hightower gave me the biggest bunch of BS about how the case turned from criminal to civil when the driver agreed to pay me the damages after I got an estimate to repair. When he reneged, I made the police report. I didn't want to put the guy in deportation trouble, but next time I will not hesitate. How disgusting that this shameful PD employee would lie to a citizen bc he was too lazy to do his job, all the while collecting a pay check and medical and accruing retirement benefits. This is a concrete example of why California is in demise. read more

I called for back up May 12th with documentation of incidents and a track record of elder abuse as evidenced by the court. I need help to defend my family against intruders and con artists who pray on old women. Telling me,"There is nothing we can do" isn't enough. I want backup when I call for backup. When criminals can get in your house and the cops walk away, that is not protect and serve. I had to leave my home because I don't feel safe with an intruder in my home. The intruder wins. They get to walk all over my sense of decency and respect. They get to come back, steal money, cause property damage, and I have to suffer. I don't want to hear the words,"We can appreciate that". That's not helping people that call police. That's letting the criminals walk all over us. Then using a catch phrase of no value. You get to clock out. My vehicle was impounded during one of those Friday night checkpoints and we can debate whether it was legally impounded because the car was parked on a private property, the towing company was Archie's Towing, when I went to recover my vehicle it had a damage that was not there prior to the impounding, when I pointed out and questioned the damage and how it had happened to Archie's, the large employee said that they kicked the car I guess he was joking which I find utterly disgusting and unprofessional, then after they showed me a document where they point that the ticketing officer acknowledges that the damage was already present on my vehicle which I absolutely dispute. I went to Orange PD to request body camera footage and they told me that they are going to see if there is any because the camera might have not been turned on but one thing for sure the damage was not there before the impound and I can not believe that an police officer would conspire with a tow company to cover the damage done to my vehicle. Here is an update, the Orange PD declined my request for the body camera footage during the incident. I wonder what they have to hide. read more

My boyfriends car was involved in a hit and run we have it on video with the license plate number yet, We have been calling for weeks leaving messages and can never get ahold of anyone. We have been given the officers name and phone number who is on the case yet he can never be reached during the times we were told he would be in. We ever drove from San deigo to see if the officer or anyone was in so we can try and get this resolved and see how to get ahold of the registered owner of the car , yet we seem to not get help . Definitely wish someone did hit the car in orange because it feels like there getting away even though we have the license plate number and no one is of help. The lady literally walked out of ubreakifix so the fact that I can't get ahold of anyone in the police department to just run the plate so I can know who the registered owner is sucks. Let me start off by saying I am a big police officer supporter. I was shocked at the treatment received in my situation and can see why so many have lost faith in the system. I was involved in a hit and run with my 6 month old son on Tustin and Taft. I asked for a police report as my insurance would not make me pay my deductible if there was one. And there should have been... it's a felony hit and run. There was video of the man buying 3 tall cans of beer 1 min before exiting the chevron and hitting me. He also drove back thru the chevron again and seen on another camera. The PD claimed they couldn't do anything cause the video coverage was too blurry to make out a license plate. By this time they were towing my car and I had to leave. I called all day trying to get a police report # for the insurance and was tossed around and told someone would call me etc etc. I ended up asking my brother in law to help me (OC sheriff) and he basically found out that they never made a report to begin with and I would need to file a delayed report of some sort. Also found out that they went to a neighborhood to look for the guy which sounds like they knew who it was but being very shady on the whole situation. Anyway, for 2 days I tried calling for the delayed report and no one responded to me. I only got one voicemail telling me a delayed report was not needed. I ended up having 9K in damage to my vehicle and had to pay my deductible for a FELONY hit and run from a drunk driver with ZERO help from the police department despite all my best efforts. So while I lived here for a decent amount of time I've had literally no bad transactions with these cops. No profiling, etc. And this area is full of... not the best people. They've actually gone out of the way for people and gave some the benefit of the doubt. Sadly some people strive to get that darwin award. Not much help at all, I was involved a hit and run. So when i called to report they where closed or Sunday, so I left a voicemail to call me back. I got a call back from them the next day saying to come in in person to report the hit-and-run, but they wouldn't investigate the driver that hit me because I don't have his exact license plate number but I do have his address and what kind of car he drives. So I drove all the way out here for no reason. What makes me feel worst was is wasn't my car it was my companies vehicle. read more
