Just an update...we still have our Roxy girl, and by FAR, she is the sweetest, smartest, funniest dog we have ever had. Take a chance...she had no name and no history when she was brought in as a stray, but the way she couldn't take her eyes off my husband...we just knew she was special. Do it!! Adopt a best friend today!!

Adopted this sweet girl about a few weeks ago. This was the nicest shelter i have been to and they are very honest about the animals past and their behavior. They are kept on calming meds in the shelter to reduce stress which i think is great however you should be prepared for them to be different if you decide to fully take the off the meds. This girl has anxiety in general so we just lowered her dose and she's a great dog! The only complaint i have is how they introduce the dogs when you bring yours in the meet the new one. the have them circle each other while on leashes which made my first dog especially stressed out and even mildly aggressive even though he is extremely sociable with other dogs and has never shown that behavior. When we got them both home and had them off leash they were perfectly fine. I'm not a dog behaviorist but i feel like they could definitely go about introductions a better way.

I honestly had a fantastic experience here, I just adopted my little boy this week and the process was quick, easy, but thorough! They gave me a lot of great information on the little guy I was adopting. On top of that, the process was very straightforward which I really liked, it showed me it was a reliable process. I made an appointment day before to go see my little guy, got there and got to spend 45 minutes to an hour with him and then adopted him! The lady who was with me while I was meeting my cat was a beautiful soul! Such a great person to talk to, gave me a lot of good information even on things she didn't necessarily have to give me like she told me about better cat foods, and more. I really enjoyed speaking with her, I am very sad I don't remember her name. Based on every employee I met there, I can tell they have a great care for animals. The vibrance coming from everyone was beautiful. I wish I could've adopted every little kitty in there but I honestly feel like I was matched up with the perfect little guy for me and my boyfriend! Although my kitty found a home, there are a lot of cats & dogs & other animals in there that need homes that have been there longer than my boy. I strongly encourage you to adopt if you love animals and are stable enough to do so! Give these babies a home! This is my boy, his name was Max but we renamed him Bean! I just want every employee at the SPCA to know that he has a fantastic home, he is happy, AND he is here to stay :)

I'm upping my rating to 4 stars because after I wrote my review, Courtney, from SPA contacted me via Yelp and referred me to Tami. Tami, was so helpful and she told me about a new program that SPCA offered. They have a new program in which they offer a voucher which you could use towards spaying your dog! I was super elated and hopeful! I was able to get a voucher after filling out the proper forms and I was elated when she gave me a voucher for $120 off of a spay & neuter! SCORE! I called around and much to my dismay, most won't accept the voucher and if they do, the cost of spaying was outrageous. BOO!!! Thank you to Courtney and Tami for all their help in this matter and reaching out!

Our resident cat loves his new friend! Thank you, SPCA for both our awesome cats.

I got both my cats at the SPCA. The service is always good and the workers are friendly. We came in and immediately we were able to visit some of the cats. The animals are well taken care of and the facility is clean. I got my resident cat at a different SPCA location but I got the little tortoiseshell at this facility. One thing that I disliked is the cats had colds in the room we went in. I did wash my hands as did my husband but my resident cat ended up getting the cold as did the one we ended up adopting. It wasn't the facility's fault the colds went away after a couple of days wasn't that big a deal but I wouldn't have gone in there if I had known.

    Play time with new toys.

Dealing with a new picky pup can be incredibly frustrating and challenging, especially when you're constantly going through trial and error trying to find something they'll actually eat. Thankfully, Casey and his crew made finding the right food for my stubborn Chihuahua-Poodle an absolute breeze! I decided to take a chance on Ben's, and from the moment I walked in, I was greeted by some of the nicest and most knowledgeable pet nutritionists I've ever met. Casey was the first person I spoke with, and he took the time to really understand my dog and narrow down the potential reasons behind his picky eating. He went into extensive detail and continues to teach me so much about dog nutrition, including the differences in protein, carbohydrates, fats, ingredients, and overall nutritional breakdowns between different dog food brands. I was especially shocked after being referred to the documentary Pet Fooled and learning more about what can actually go into some highly processed kibble and wet food brands. It completely changed the way I look at what I feed my dog. I also want to give an honorable mention to Kay (I believe that's how her name is spelled!). Between her, Casey, and the rest of the team, they make choosing the right food so much easier while sending you home with a ton of useful knowledge. Ben's Barketplace will forever be my dog's grocery store! They also carry a huge selection of bones, treats, supplements, toppers, and so much more for your furry family members. If you're struggling to find the right food for your dog or simply want to learn more about what you're feeding them, I highly recommend stopping by Ben's Barketplace in Roseville! ike, buddy and chica love you all

We had booked a private tour for his birthday to meet the rescue animals who call this beautiful place home. Yasmin met us at the entrance and, after swapping shoes for some solid boots, gave us a very honest, very real, and very important rundown of industrial agriculture. Now, I have to add, neither of us are vegan or even vegetarian, but Yasmin proved to be an actively non judgmental, compassionate host. She walked us through the grounds, addressing each animal by name, and was full of knowledge and insight! After the initial meet and greet, we were off! We hiked across the beautiful grounds and met tons of sheep (Jet loved my partner!) goats, and pigs; all of the animals roam freely, coming and going as they please. It was actually delightful how so many of the animals came up to say hi and hang out out of their own volition! We brought some grapes for the chickens and they LOVED them! But oh my god, the turkeys. Wow, just, two little friendly, fluffy orbs that floated around our party showing off while Yasmin gave us an informed and empathetic story about them. She did that at every habitat; letting us in, introducing us (by name!) to the boldest of the bunch, and explaining how they ended up at Animal Place. It was an entirely wonderful, enlightening experience. Also, fyi, turkeys are so soft. I cannot recommend this organization enough. 10/10, please give Conrad an extra treat for me!

Extremely aggressive tone from the get go. She seemed to get more frustrated as I wasn't matching her energy over the phone. You can tell that she is angry about the cycle and situation of dogs in our community. (I get it) But that doesn't give you the right to call people who inquire about your "rescue" and harass them. I never took on a dog, and would not in my current situation. Instead, my mother had a stroke and is no longer able to walk. She had a pit mix. As a family we are trying to navigate this new reality and I was tasked with dog placement. She should honestly take down her website.
