Weaver House - host your holiday gathering at Weaver House

    Weaver House

We hosted our client Christmas event at Weaver House this week, and I seriously cannot say enough…read moregood about this place. It is a beautiful event space, both inside and out. It was a very chilly night so we didn't utilize the outside space, but having seen it in daylight previously, I can say that the gardens are beautiful and picturesque. The inside is warm and inviting and has beautiful use of wood in the structure. The sound system is amazing for background music. The high-top and 8' tables and chairs were nice looking and in great shape, which is very important. The bar area is beautiful and was thoughtfully accented with holiday decorations. First, I would like to say what an amazing, accommodating staff!! Alexandra, the wedding and events director, was so helpful, pleasant, kind, efficient and responsive. She is totally amazing. She was on-site, helping clear dishes and making sure everything went smoothly throughout the entire evening. We typically serve "heavy hor d'oeuvres" in a buffet style, which is what we did for this event. Chef Joey was so easy to work with in setting the menu and was open to suggestions. He and his staff did a phenomenal job on everything from the amazing food to making sure the buffet was nicely arranged and full of food at all times. Let me say again, the food was amazing! The bartender was pleasant, efficient and very nice. The drinks she made were great and my husband said she treated him like a king. We had such great response and reviews from our clients, many who have attended our Christmas events for many years. Those who commented only had nice, complementary things to say about their experience at Weaver House. Highly recommend!!

I've attended 4 events at this space and each one were great experiences. The first was our friends wedding and opening weekend for the venue. The food was top notch, cocktails and bar service rocked! Second was a Chamber of Commerce meet & greet event! Food and drinks were both notch and the zen garden setting made for an impeccable time getting connected with other local businesses. Third was a special brunch event that the staff throw a few times each season to get locals into the space to enjoy. They had a jazz band and Chef Ward puts out beautiful and tasty brunch fare! We reserved a table for 20 as it was our close friends birthday celebration and everyone raved about the experience! Forth was another wedding with the same outstanding hospitality and genuine staff we met on our previous visits. We only knew a handful of others attending but the space made for an excellent backdrop to make new friends and dance the night away!!! If you are looking for an awesome space to host your next event give this folks a shot to impress you just as they have my wife and I on all four separate occasions!

Cordial & Craft - Custom food menu for a Cordial & Craft event

I had no idea that Cordial and Craft had a Yelp page! I'm even more bummed that I didn't think to…read moreadd one. How can I be the ambassador for Yelp in Asheville when I'm not thinking outside of the box of things to review! Cordial and Craft is seriously righteous. Being that I live in Asheville, I attend a lot of weddings. I don't know if that's because something in the air here makes people want to get married, or perhaps it's just this sort of band wagon thing... like, HEY! Our friends are getting married, we should get married! I mean look, I got married! What's even crazier is that people come to Asheville to get married and throw awesome weddings that they can post all over instagram because they look so damn cool and everything is perfect and it's got that wonderful and charming handmade rustic class. So yeah, I think I'm up at about 5 to 6 weddings a year, which is great. But when I spot the bartenders of Cordial and Craft as I approach a wedding reception I'm ready to high five everyone within a 30 foot radius. When it comes to charm, class, and presentation nothing beats the bartenders from Cordial and Craft. I'm having a tough time even figuring out how to communicate just how great they are. You know those pictures you see on pinterest of drinks that make your mouth water, that have been custom designed for the event, with cute straws and beautiful colors? That's what we're talking about here. When you go to a wedding that has chosen Cordial and Craft to provide their bar program for the evening it's basically a sure fire sign that the event planner/bride and groom/venue has put great thought and care into each element of the event. Call them mixologists, call them craft cocktail masters, call them friends, just make sure to call me a cab because after a wedding reception with this wonderful company I'm not driving home.

Our daughter and new Son-in-Law also chose a few speciality drinks as well - which they served to everyone's enjoyment. At the end of the evening - they even created a special drink that they named in their honor. We did supply our own alcohol but as the day drew near I knew we wouldn't have time to get all the fruit, mixers, etc. I called Heidi the day before the wedding and she was willing to do that portion for us and collect the costs at the venue the next day. These ladies were so pleasant to work with - everyone commented on what great service. We would recommend them and would recommend you allow them to handle the shopping part as well - that is a service they can provide! Vicki and Gary

Our 1st red flag was when our date was given away after we were told it was on hold. It was for one of the last 2 Sat's in 2022. The venue was toured on Sat, sent a question on Mon, responded on a Tues w/a very nonchalant btw that date is no longer available we booked it. No apology, only that we could choose another date & save 3K by going w/a Friday. Communication needs improvement. Trying to reach Darien takes days to get a response. You shouldn't have to repeatedly chase after anyone or not be able to leave a message in a mailbox that is repeatedly full. Emails/voicemails were necessary because the numbers/dates on the contract weren't accurate. Corrections were needed for us to sign before we lost another date. We chose this venue in great part because at the time they offered in house catering. We were planning a wedding from out of state, so convenience weighed heavily. 3 months after signing, I reached out to Darien re menu options. I was told that they were moving catering out of house. Had I not inquired when would I have been told? I told him we chose this venue because of this. He went on to tell me it would be cheaper, that I would get more options from an outside caterer, fees would be less etc. We were now tasked w/traveling to find one. We hired a wedding planner to help. In Feb we were to have our 1st meeting at the venue w/Darien. He cancelled stating he forgot he had a friends wedding to go to. Marta, the owner would be meeting us. During this meeting, we explained our experience & concerns. She was very dismissive. "That's in the past" which it was not but she continued to talk over us to try & end the conversation. Come to find out Darien is her son, so if you have an issue that you feel the owner will help resolve, good luck. My husband said to her that he was so disappointed that he had thought maybe we should cancel. Her response instead of I'm sorry you feel that way, what can we do to correct this, was "well you can do that". That to us just showed complete arrogance & that as a client our concerns weren't being heard, we were not a priority & were disposable. Our planner knew of the issues & asked if there was something they could do to smooth things over, upgrade silverware or napkins, a cake cutter. They said no. A meeting planned weeks in advance for May w/our wedding planner was canceled by Darien, no explanation. As the wedding approached, Darien was emailed by our planner weeks before to finalize the bill. She had difficulty getting many responses to the point that a phone call was necessary. We went line by line over the bill listing all the corrections to be addressed only to get the same attachment back w/either no corrections or just a few. We had to fight to get penalties & charges removed when Darien refused saying he never received any emails w/updates. These emails were promptly forwarded to him. Be aware your venue fee of 11-14K doesn't include your 1/2 hr ceremony on the knoll it comes from your 5 hrs cocktail hour/reception time or it's an xtra charge. News to us! The final bill was received 2 days before the wedding. No one needs this back and forth or stress 2 days before a wedding. We know they are going to say we offered you reduced decor items a week before our date (perhaps to placate us to avoid a bad review) none of which were any of the items we had asked for previously. The cynic in us at this point assumed someone else had ordered them for their event that weekend & it was easier to bring them in on Fri, the day of our event. Sad to think that way but by this point it's how we felt. This experience completely overshadowed the memories of our only daughter's wedding. In the end our daughter's wedding was beautiful due to our vendors. However, The Ridge made us feel that we were going to someone's house that really didn't want us there.
