I have used their service twice via Home Depot for my two properties. I was impressed by their professionalism and with their installation team. Whoever picks up the call is also very responsive and helpful. In my latest project, I have a kitchen and 2.5 bathrooms, the company sent a team of 6 people that worked straight for 7 hours, leaving behind an impressive kitchen and bathrooms. I will definitely use them again for my next property. FYI, I talked to someone at one of those marble stores near junction road in San Jose. He quietly admitted none of them would be able to match their price and one wouldn't go wrong with them as Plamar is a very reputable company among all. read more

Follow up to my first review: Installers showed up 40 minutes outside of their 3 hour window to complete the job. 4 hours later, they said the final pieces were cut too small and they would have to make a third appointment to finish the job. They departed at 4:30 on Thursday afternoon. No contact from Plamar on Friday so I requested an update from Home Depot. Never got one. Monday morning at 10:30 installers showed up to finish the job. There was no appointment, no phone call, no email advising me of their arrival. lucky I was home and able to rearrange my schedule. Plamar disappoints again and again but hopefully they will finally be done today. And Plamar management still blames me for sending their crew home at 7pm when "they only had another hour of work." We got this contracter assigned through Home Depot, as our sink was not going to arrive on time for the appointment, we tried to reschedule on July 3rd through Home Depot and they couldn't reach them, then on July 5th I received the call to reschedule the appointment, I said we have the measurements of the sink but not the actual template and so if that's what is needed we can reschedule, they did not inform me of rescheduling charges on the call and added it as charges after the appointment was rescheduled and the measurements done, I tried contacting them to cancel this charge, but they didn't. Also beware they add spurious charges such as oversize piece (250$), there is nothing oversize about a 2*10 feet slab. read more

I will never work with Home Depot again, cause they work with third party which is Plamar for our countertops, they come out couple weeks later and did the first measurements once the cabinets where install and measurements of the plywood were off by 1/2, so we had the contractors come back and fit the plywood, Plamar came out again weeks later and charge me another $200 to do another measurement and the plywood was still off 1/4, but I told Plamar just to fix it, come to find out I had to pay an additions $1257.00 because I needed more countertop material then what I was quote from Home Depot which I paid in full. The workers came in weeks later did the installation, but when they cut for the outlets, they didn't cut correctly, cause we couldn't get box extenders to come out. We had to actually smooth out and hit the edges of the quartz countertop to get the box extenders to come out. They workers did tell us to buy longer screws for the outlets but we didn't need them. Never work with Plamar or Home Depot again, they didn't care how the work was done by their workers. Wish I could attach picture of the outlets so you see how bad their work was read more

Dishonest countertop fabricator - subcontractor of Home Depot. Do not use Home Depot to install your countertop! If I can give a negative score I would. This fabricator does not honor the original quote which we paid in full before the measurement appointment. My final quote was over 280% of the original quote. No changes to the material and no changes to the original quote other than a selection of the edge style which I chose as "eased edge", which for other fabricator is not an additional charge. All drawings were provided by my contractor with measurements including waterfall, sink location, stove location, and holes needed for the faucet, air vent, etc. The measurement appointment was one month later and then the final quote was provided. I nearly fainted when I saw the final quote. They not only wasted my time but they also took full payment and now telling me it's going to take weeks to get a refund. read more

The communication with Plamar was good because they laid out what to expect on the day of install and what I needed to do before they came out. I didn't give 5 stars because they did not have accurate cuts for the outlets and told me on day of install it would cost more to fix. Subcontracted through Home Depot. I was a bit nervous due to the negative comments on Yelp; however, there were plenty of positive reviews as well, so we took a chance. Happy to report the templating and installation processes were completed professionally and efficiently. Customer service with Dana was great too. Only hiccups were due to pricing. I understand an estimate is just that, but there were items that should have been brought to our attention beforehand as a consideration. Ordered countertops through Home Depot and was handed off to Plamar for fabrication. Both Home Depot and Plamar assured me end to end from measure to install would take 3 weeks. We made our payment in early October and got on the books for measurements for the third week of October. I have called Plamar twice this week and the story has changed...apparently it is now 2-4 weeks before product is in hand (citing back orders and supply issue due to COVID) and an added 6 or more weeks for installing, placing us at a countertop install sometime in January at this point. Our countertop update is simple, we are not pulling out cabinets and are waiting on Plamar to get us schedule...you would think they'd want to hammer out this easy job first to clear their que but that is clearly not the case. The most interesting thing is, I just called Cosentino who is supplying the materials and they confirm my countertops we are ordering are in stock and they have plenty. Really terrible experience working with Plamar (subcontracted through Home Depot). I was doing a full kitchen remodel, and Plamar was supposed to do the countertops. First of all, they won't even schedule the countertop measure until all the cabinets are fully installed. But they're booking measurements 3 weeks out, so you are supposed to sit without countertops for 3 weeks until they'll measure, or somehow predict exactly when they'll be ready 3 weeks in advance (anyone who has had cabinets delivered know that that is all but impossible). I asked how long between the measurement and the install, and they refused to even provide a ballpark answer. They just said they cannot make any promises or provide any timeline whatsoever. That seemed insane, so I started to look for another installer. I was told that I had 48 hours to cancel the measurement, but that was actually a lie, and they charged a "last minute cancellation fee" of $200 even though I called 3 days before the measurement to cancel. And of course, they were rude about the whole thing, and claimed that their appointments are "like gold", which is funny given that they charge $200 if you cancel. My suggestion is to keep looking, since they seem to be very inflexible and not customer oriented whatsoever, which simply doesn't work when you're in the construction business. There are way too many countertop companies in the Bay Area to have to settle for this one. Update: After cancelling with Plamar, we were able to go to Apex Granite, pick a slab in stock (they had plenty of Calacatta Gold slabs), and hire a contractor (Horatio) to manufacture and install in 4 days end to end. The result is beautiful! Definitely worth the cancellation fee just for the ease and speed of the new installers. read more

I purchased new countertops through Home Depot. Their price includes installation. Frankly, that made them the best price around and since we live in the Bay area part time, I did not want to make a big investment in our condo. Still, an attractive countertop and quality work were priorities. Palmar, Home Depot's fabricator/installer was exceptional! Excellent communication, reliable appointment times and outstanding installers. The man who took the measurements was thorough, very pleasant and set the positive tone for our experience. Yesterday, my new counters were installed by Carlos and Tonio. What a terrific team! They worked so well together and covered every "base" from start to finish. They were meticulous setting up, measuring, installing and even cleaning up, both inside and outside. On top of their outstanding professionalism, they were pleasant to have around. From start to finish, I felt that the job would be done right and it was! The best part is, I am delighted with the new countertops. They have transformed my ugly, dark kitchen. The team that arrived to fix the first team's screw-ups was great. They were unable to remove the piece without breaking it but they were able to make enough changes so the drawer would open and shut. They said that the other team had done a poor job and should have tested drawers and added shims before permanently attaching them to my cabinets. Either the first team doesn't know what they are doing or they just wanted to get done and skipped important steps. If they would have the repair team do the installs, Plamar would have a pretty good team. read more

I had to use them because I ordered from Home Depot. The install crew was efficient but they did not screw back the screws to my dishwasher after installing the counter. Now my dishwasher as 2 deep scratches near the control buttons. There is also some type of indentation in the counter. I did not even mention this to them because they were so defensive about the gauges in my dishwasher. I also tried to work with Kirk because there was a gap between the backsplash and counter. All I needed was 2 2" pieces. He did not want to help me or offer solutions. He was rude and pushed me off to someone else. Don't expect any follow up from this company. read more

I worked with Plamar USA through Home Depot's Kitchen and Bath Design department. I was disappointed with their service. After templating my counter, they said it would cost 33% more than I was originally quoted because I was on the second floor (15 steps) and because I wanted the sink edges eased to 1/8 round. The contract said eased edges were included - but apparently not around the sink. In addition, they said they could not put an 1/8" round edge on the mitered edges. Other providers had no problem with this. I ultimately canceled the order because of the cost increase, but then PlamarUSA refused said they could not return my sink, saying I had to come to Union City to pick it up. This despite the fact that I paid a $200 fee to cover the 'effort' of their coming to make a template. They should have agreed to drop-off the sink, but they refused to do so in a timely fashion (said it could take a month) Additionally, Home Depot said they could template within 3-5 days, but the process took more than 2 weeks because they were backed logged. I give 5 stars for the excellent demo and install of our Quartz countertops. We ordered everything through Lowe's in Gilroy. They contracted out to Plamar. The crew came out exactly as scheduled. It only took them a few hours to demo our old white tile, and install the new tops and mount our new sink. I have no idea how two guys completed all that work perfectly in such short time! There was some molded dry wall behind the sink, the guys removed that for us no problem. They also suggested a better sink mounting kit which we really appreciated. I wish I could speak the same for the office staff/ not too impressed there. Not the easiest to work with. But the results of the job are what I will live with and therefore deserves all the credit. read more

BEWARE!!!!! home depot's preliminary estimates are at least 25% off, their estimates are low; then the real estimate comes in. you will have to wait forever to have the job completed. in my case it took two months. the installers were pretty good, but they scratched the dishwasher. they have admitted that they did the scratches and are seeing what they can do so i can use my brand-new dishwasher for the first time. they scratched the display panel clear down to the filament lights. i called the manufacturer, they told me "do not use the machine until the repairs are made". at first, plamar tried to pass the problem off but finally admitted that it was their fault. i am still waiting for a resolution to their workmanship. this is going into the third month. like i said before, BEWARE. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I need to share my exceptional experience i recently had with Plamar and their staff. First of all Aldrin is the greatest and a pleasure to work with. He is knowledgeable, courteous, responsive and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the job is done correctly and to your satisfaction. If you have any questions, he is willing to answer them and get back to you in a timely manner. I am very pleased with the installation process which went smoothly without issues. It took five big men to install a large 3cm thick quartz counter, three of the men remained for the final installation. Reuben, Rafael and Brian are truly professionals and an asset to their trade. I am especially pleased with the seaming that Reuben performed. I was concerned the seams would be very obvious due to the quartz pattern but the fab shop matched the pattern well and Reuben did an exceptional job with the seams. Barely visible. Deserves more than 5 stars. I am a DIYer and found Plamar via the internet. Glad I was able to find them and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have solid counters installed. I wouldn't even give Plamar 1 star! I had the worst experience with them. They didn't communicate what I needed to have in place and then tried to charge me extra for wasted trip charge. They told me to remove plywood from my cabinets, didn't explain why, and I later found out that Home Depot ordered 3cm countertops when that was not what I wanted. In the end they didn't communicate anything to me and just tried to charge me for extra charges that were incorrect. Their template guy was the worst! No communication, just in and out with no information. Next thing you know your getting hit with a bill. There are way better counter top installers with great customer service. I was contacted by Plamar last week, with regards to their work-crew's sticky fingers. (see review below) They really seemed to want to make it right. They had no way of knowing who was to blame, though they questioned everyone. So I was told that the whole crew was docked a week's pay (tho we feel bad for the other guys in the crew, since it was probably just one guy who was doing it). I didn't have any ideas of how they could make things better, so they offered to make us a little something extra for our kitchen. They really care about their reputation. I'm sorry to be a blight on their Yelp review, but hopefully you guys can be on the lookout, just in case someone else has the same issue, (and then Plamar can figure out what worker is messing around, and can fire him). I doubt that you'll have problems if you choose Plamar, but I can only write this review based on my experience! They did pretty good job otherwise - we love our new countertops! read more

The first problem with Plamar is that you have to hunt down someone to help you at their shop. The second problem is that we wanted marble countertops, and one of their reps, Dana comes just short of telling you that you are stupid not to want granite. (I guess the fact that it lasts for thousands of years is irrelevant.) But they charge more for granite so anything else apparently is going to piss her off. She made us sign something saying that even if Plamar employees damaged or broke the marble during installatin, it wouldn't be their fault and we would NOT get a replacement slab. Against California law, Plamar insists on 100% payment up front. The law is that a contractor (unless they have a special license, which Plamar does not) can only accept 10% or $1000, whichever is less. Plamar would not schedule the work until full payment was made. While the finished product looks very nice, Plamar employees didn't go around our wooden windows casings and sill; they cut pieces out of them to fit the marble, instead of fitting the marble around the wood, as they were supposed to do as per our agreement. Not much to do about it now but file a complaint with the State. We wouldn't use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more

We ordered a Silestone countertop through Home Depot and they passed us on tp Plamar. First Home Depot charged more than they promised and kept saying "we'll refund anything that isn't used"--WRONG. They refunded nothing. They're salesperson totally misled us. Plamar was horrible. They took our sink and made us wait more than a month with no kitchen sink. When they finally came back they did a so-so job. Part of the counter isn't even glued down. Then one of their employees (I can't prove it in court so I'll just say it's my sincere belief) stole my wife's IPod while working in our house. I called them the next day about it and they feigned concern but did nothing. Don't do business with this fly by night company--you'll be sorry. My cabinets are stightly out of level since they have been there for decades. They showed me where the best place for the faucet holes would be and I couldn't be happier. Very frustrated with this company. Ordered a small quartz kitchen countertop on September 8th, measurements were taken two weeks later and the product is in the shop but not even fabricated yet. Every time I call I get less information and today they couldn't even find my folder. For almost four weeks their excuse has been that half their crew was out because of COVID exposure. Apparently they had no contingency plan and should be past quarantine by now. I can be a little bit more patient but they will not give me any kind of target date for installation and this is preventing us from finishing out kitchen remodel. I am going to search for another company and probably cancel the order. I have let Home Depot know how unsatisfactory this companies responses, communications and service have been. read more

Nice presales service but I simply can't afford paying north of 500 bucks for a simple rectangular non-exotic granite table top. We are talking about just a rectangular slab of stone here, no bull nose no fancy edges, not your average Silicon Valley $200k kitchen remodel job. Even with no fancy edge finishing they have a $300 minimum for their remnant pieces otherwise "it's not worth their time". Sometimes I do wish the DOW plunges all the way down to 5000. read more

To say I am happy would be an understatement. I walk into my dream kitchen every day and still can't believe how good it looks. Plamar helped me find a slab I loved and turned it into a beautiful kitchen. My slabs have a very strong veining/pattern that I was initially worried about because my countertop needed seams. I paid for the layout option so that I could choose where to cut each countertop from and have them show me their suggestion of how they would have done it. I trusted them with the two countertops where the seam would have the direction change of the vein and I'm glad I did! They did a great job and they made the seam so tight I don't even notice it anymore. All the other seams were in the backsplashes and were able to get most of those to line up except for 1 which they again did a great job on. Definitely worth it, you can tell they know what they are doing and with cabinets being 16 weeks out due to covid issues, I was so happy that the fabrication of my rock solid quartzite only took 2-3 weeks. Vladimir and his crew did a fantastic job when the four of them came to demolish our existing old tile countertops and install our beautiful new granite. Before that, I saw Estela and Edwin when I went up for the layout. They knew exactly how to lay the cutouts over the slabs so the pieces would match up. Overall, from the time John came to do the template, until the guys left after working close to 12 hours for the demolition and install, everything was just about perfect. Our kitchen was tricky because it's old and things were uneven but at each step of the way, Vladimir had a solution for the problem (including a problem that was my fault because the sink I bought was too deep). The granite looks absolutely amazing, and I can barely see the seams - it's perfect. Going through Home Depot is a fairly smooth process and very cost effective because you only pay for the square footage of granite that you need. In fact, Plamar decided I needed an extra slab of granite for the island so did not hesitate to order another one, at no cost to me. There are always going to be a few kinks along the way, such as scheduling and some costs they need to adjust along the way for any extras you ask for, etc. Actually, the quote Home Depot gives you is only an approximate price, since HD never comes out to measure. Plamar comes out with their computer technology and does exact measurements so yes, the price could go up once all the details are finalized. Subcontracted through Home Depot. Plamar replaced my old tile countertop with a quartz countertop. They assured me that my newly refinished cabinets would not be damaged, but that was not the case. The tile demolition was done without covering my cabinets and some parts were chipped. They didn't remove some of the tile and grout behind/under my rangehood and didn't bother to tell me that I would need to get someone else to do it before the backsplash folks started the installation. Also, after paying extra for plumbing, they only took care of the faucet and air gap, but not the filter. I was not satisfied with their post job cleanup either. Our job was small. We replaced the 20+ year old tile on our kitchen island. The tile was removed with no damage to our wood cabinets. The new countertop looked great. They made sure it was straight and level. My painted wood cabinets needed no touchups. The floors (which are new) were covered and protected. Also, my house was left exactly how it was before. Everything was cleaned up. You could not tell any work was done. The most important thing...the cooktop fits in the cutout!! read more

We just finished a major remodel. Choosing a supplier for countertops seemed risky. Let's face it -- Marble is a huge investment. Most of the places we visited had people who either didn't speak our language, seemed irritated that we were bothering them just by being there or they had showrooms that were just dangerous to be in. Some, by the way, are outdoors. We tried Plamar in Sunnyvale and what an amazing contrast. Everyone was super nice and helpful. They realized that we didn't know what we were doing (I admit it) and it was no problem for them. Everyone went out of their way to do unexpected nice things for us. Agree about Aldrin. He was most helpful to us as well. The young lady in the showroom who helped us pick out our slabs couldn't have been more friendly and professional. On a big project little things will come up as they did on our project. The customer service manager took care of everything. If you know exactly what you want, are making your supplier decision based on the lowest purchase price, can order your marble over the phone, can install it yourself and are willing to take risks from poor communication, hostile sales people and uncertain quality assurance then you have many suppliers in the south bay area to choose from. However it you want to buy from a supplier that will help you, stand behind both their work and the quality of the finished job, then Plamar will be a great choice. DO NOT HIRE. I ordered countertops through Home Depot and didn't have any control over what contractor they used. The whole process was a nightmare. First off, the price I was quoted and paid for at HD was much lower than the final cost. However, when the new charges started coming in (including $100 just for a certificate of insurance for my HOA - no other contractor has ever charged me for that - and $850 for delivery), I was too far into my renovation to cancel the project. They charged me $850 for delivery! Seriously! Because they had to use an elevator! They don't return phone calls, they are rude on the phone, and they don't communicate with their employees. Every time I talked to someone on the phone, a contractor would show up at my home having zero knowledge of what I'd already told the company. Why does this matter? Because I shared important things like parking and building access. So the poor employee would show up and have no clue what was happening. They also are incredibly slow. They sent out a guy to measure the space then weeks went by without contact. They also seem to think that everyone they deliver to has a house with no stairs, a driveway, and outside electrical outlets. I live in a condo on the fourth floor of a building in SF. I can't be the only person in SF who has had countertops installed! Finally, after weeks of waiting and unanswered phone calls they sent out the actual countertop and installers. They guys showed up and were Pikachu surprised that they had to use an elevator and also find a power source for cutting. They ended up cutting the countertop in my condo which COVERED the place in dust. I get doing some cutting to make things fit but why send out someone to measure if you're going to send the next set of guys in blind to do their own measurements and cutting? Then, to cap off this truly horrible experience, the installers broke the damn countertop. Plamar didn't apologize and got pissy that I was asking when they'd return. They told me it would take a week to figure out if they had the material in their warehouse. Do they not have computers to track inventory? Is there just some person walking around peering at quartz slabs until they find the right one? They did end up sending out a new countertop but it was with a new crew who yet again had zero knowledge of what I'd told the company. So yet again they are upset about parking and elevators and cutting. They again had to do the cutting indoors. I'm not sure I'll ever get the dust out. The HD team was great but think twice before ordering countertops through them in the Bay Area. It's cheaper, faster and less frustrating to go with a different company. read more

Plamar was contracted by Home Depot to install a new Silestone countertop in my kitchen. Regrettably, the first installers left some marks and scratches in the stone. When contacted, they sent two guys out to try and repair it. While they made it better, it still wasn't acceptable. Two more guys came out this week and, thankfully, they got the scratches and marks out and my countertop looks beautiful! Obviously, having scratches and marks on my brand new countertop was very distressing to me but I give Plamar top marks for not giving up until I was a satisfied customer. Had the installers not been able to make a complete repair, they were even prepared to replace the damaged slabs. Despite the issues, when a company cares this much about customer service, I wouldn't hesitate for an instant to recommend them. read more
