We had to order a quartz countertop from a Bay Area vendor and do so sight unseen (we are located in Upstate NY). The process went as well as could possibly be expected. It was a very specific design for a fairly large, single-piece for a counter that had already been built. In this industry (construction, installation), if there are no problems, it's completed on time, and the price is fair, then it's an absolute victory. The process was easy; Javier and his team were clear and responsive from the beginning. The timeline was only a few weeks, but Alpha acquired the stone, cut to spec, delivered it, and installed it all on time, helping us avoid catastrophe. I'm no expert, but I'm no layperson either, so I think that helped because I had purchased this countertop in the past (but from vendors in Upstate NY). read more

These guys are awesome to work with. While I love my entire remodeled kitchen, the countertops are the cherry on top. The work was done impeccably and Javier is so fun & easy to work with. Well after they were finished with installation, my general contractor installed appliances and advised that I needed another small piece to fill in a gap behind my stove. Javier found the tiny scraps left from my install and made a custom piece out of several scraps. It was awesome as I didn't have to find something else to fill the gap or buy an entire slab of quartz. These guys are professionals. We had Javier do our kitchen counters and slabs for our wood stove area. The counters were done with Casarstone calacutta Nuvo. the guys did a great job of matching the grain where they had seams and even trying to keep the grain flowing from the elevate bar top down to the counter. Very artistic stuff. For the wood stove, they put a large slab of granite up on the wall. But the floor piece is the centerpiece of our room. It's a leathered zebra marble with perfectly matched mitered returns. They hid the seams so well that it looks like a single chunk of 4" thick stone. We are very pleased with the outcome and the price was very reasonable compared to other quotes (stonework is still expensive on the whole, but you should already know that). Dealing with Javier and Elaine was great and they were both very helpful. My one piece of advice is to get them involved from the beginning as there are some design and material choices that may not work out for you. We originally picked a quartz that ended up being too small to use as a single piece on our island. For various technical reasons, a seam wouldn't work so we had to select a slab from a different brand. Fortunately it all worked out but if I had engaged with AMG earlier with detailed drawings of my cabinets, we would have avoided a last minute scramble. My own fault and I won't make that mistake again. I would definitely call Javier and AMG again if I have more work in the future. read more

I called a few places. AMG was the only shop that could get a Cambria countertop installed in 2 weeks. Elaine was mostly responsive and very pleasant to deal with. The slab was brought in quickly. The template was done in less than 15 minutes. I was quite impressed with their efficiency. Pros: 1. competitive pricing - maybe 3-5% less than other places 2. speedy quotes 3. mitered edge was done nicely 4. installation - inspected and approved by Cambria Cons: 1. Sink cut-out was off by 3/8" - verified by Cambria (AMG blamed the sink template) 2. countertop was sagging 2 days after - it was fixed with 2 screws in the dishwasher area 3. heavy hands - it's understandable as they deal with stones everyday. It would be a good idea to remove the top drawers or protect your cabinets yourself before the installation. The improper sink cut-out was a surprise to me. I thought nowadays computer is doing all the work. The inspector from Cambria said he would not want that in his kitchen. But AMG claimed that the job was above standard. If you really need to have a countertop installed quickly, you can try this place. You may have better luck than I did. I have to agree with the other review that the owner has some anger issues. So be happy with what you get and try not to question or comment on their work. read more

We were referred to Alpha Marble when we purchased two slabs of carrera marble through Geology Galleries. Since we weren't doing a full remodel, we didn't have a contractor and needed Alpha to do more of the work. Aside from fabrication and installation, we also needed the demo, and tile backsplash to be done. The demo is where things didn't go so well. First, they warned that removing the old tile backsplash may damage the drywall and it would need to be patched. That is reasonable and I would expect that to be the case anyway. Day of demo, two people arrived and I asked for the details of what they would do that day which consisted of demo and templating. I noted to them that I wanted to save the sink and faucets and they confirmed that they would do so. I had to leave for a few hours and told them to call me if anything came up. A little later, I got a call from their office telling me that the tile was really stuck to the drywall and had to be redone. This is not something they do either. When I returned they had basically ripped all the drywall out and I had to scramble to find someone to repair it. Pretty far from "may need to repair some drywall", but I suppose it had to be done that way. I noticed a day later that the sink was also missing as they said it was damaged during demo cause they couldn't remove it easily. This was a $1000 sink and I would have gladly paid for extra time to properly remove it instead of them trashing it to get the job done fast. When I asked about it, everyone kept dodging the question until Javiar finally addressed the issue a few days later. He ended up giving me only a $100 credit which is better than nothing, but wasn't very satisfying either. Another small issue was that the stone wasn't cut to spec to support our slide in cooktop which was supposed to sit on top of the stone. When I asked Javiar, he said marble cannot support the weight of the cooktop like that (which is technically true) so it wasn't cut that way. We ended up shimming the cooktop from the bottom to get it level and luckily the cooktop just BARELY wedged into the slot so it still looks pretty seamless. While things ended up working out. I feel like we just got lucky as I don't think that was truly considered. Javiar did offer to rework the stone if it was needed though. Lastly, the holes drilled for the faucets weren't lined up which as much as a 1/4" variance. After installing the faucets in a way to compensate as much as possible, it's not super noticeable, but definitely could have been done better. Aside from that, the work was done pretty fast and the quality of the fabrication of the edges and installation was pretty good. We had a really heavy cast iron sink that required extra supports. At first the the installer said we would need someone to come out and build a special support for it, but after looking at it he came up with a solution that saved us some time and the headache of getting another vendor for a small job. Overall, I am satisfied with the work and my kitchen looks great, but I think the communication could be a bit better. read more

We used Javier on two separate occassions. We purchased two entire slabs for our kitchen remodel and his team did a nice job for us. He promised that he would hold onto the overage for us. Two months after the kitchen remodel I contacted him again and as promised, he still had our granite and we used that for the utility room. All in all we are very pleased with the workmanship. Like with all contracting jobs, i suggest that you work closely with Javier to make sure you get exactly what you want. He has a fountain of experience and had some really good design ideas. Listen to him and don't be shy to tell him exactly what you want. read more

Javier called me that he is at my door for template on 2016-06-20 but nobody told me the time. Javier and Jesus (goes by the name Choi) came to template the countertop - it was done in 30 minutes and he told that he will get my counter done in a week, when I asked him which date, he told 29th it should be done. Came 29th, nobody showed up. I called and no response. On 30th I went to their office when Javier called me names. Finally, he told that he will install plywood on 1st July - done but the sink cutout on plywood was incorrect - I told the same to Elaine and also sent her an email to make sure that she notes it well. The granite counter was finally installed on 9th July but the workmanship was below standard. The sink cutout for plywood resulted in sink not holding tight on the counter. The level is not proper and splashed water rolls over to the edge on the counter. Javier quotes about 50$'s less on a 2500$ installation but his attitude and workmanship aren't to the mark. To be better off, use home depot who kicks the back of vendors if they are not up to the mark read more
