It's been so long since I've stepped into Shibuyala and it felt like being briefly transported to a Japanese beauty store thanks to the scents and visuals. This location is tucked into The Arbor Village Center so it's surrounded by other eateries and businesses. Most people familiar with this plaza know that parking is a headache during lunch and dinner hours. I would not want to be here if it was overly crowded, but thankfully that wasn't the case when we were there on a Saturday afternoon. My friend recently visited Japan so she wanted to stop by to show me their popular haircare products. We ended up spending a whole hour here and I've added more products to my wishlist for the near future. I also walked out with a purchase and can't wait to try it. I bought a hand lotion from here. When I got home, I noticed the seal was already broken. Opened the cap and noticed a bunch of liquid was also within the cap. Lotion was used. I don't pay full price for a half used product and their return policy is really strict (which I understand) but this upsets me. read more

I have never had such a bad experience as I did today. I love Asian skincare due to my very sensitive skin and I love trying to new places. I had asked the Employee Hanna a question regarding a product and the first time she completely ignored me. I assumed she was busy, but then she proceeded to just stare at me for no reason as if I was going to steal. When it was time to check out she seemed very annoyed and was basically just rude. This was my second time here, and unfortunately I won't be coming back. If you aren't Asian, be prepared to feel singled out. Hanna followed me around the store as if she thought I was going to steal, which made me extremely uncomfortable. She didn't interact with me at checkout or even say thank you. The other woman working was very sweet and genuinely tried to help me find a sunscreen, but unfortunately I didn't get her name. Hanna's behavior made this a very uncomfortable experience. This is a great store for Japanese and Korean beauty skincare and makeup. Prices might be a little higher than online shops but the convenience of being able to pick up products locally can't be beat. Only downside is that all sales are final and you can't even exchange unopened items. read more

This store is full of Japanese and sometimes Korean beauty finds as well as random items like snacks and pet stuff. From hair oil to lip balms they have tons of great finds. Not on the discount price range like Daiso. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and always happy to give you recommendations for your needs. Several items have ended up as staple items such as the Heroine mascara. A lot of the packaging is cute or pretty. Such a fun store but bad for your wallet haha. I found it while we were waiting for our number at Dim sum and walking around in that plaza. Parking is pretty easy as well. read more

I thought this shop would be overhyped and I was mistaken. I found my favorite beauty products (Cosrx, Biore sunscreen and Shiseido lash curler) for LESS than Amazon! My boyfriend and I bought snacks, skincare and personal hygiene products from Japan for $50 altogether. The parking lot can be busy, but there's plenty of spots. The employees are quiet, but are happy to help if approached. I am so happy I walked in. There's great food in the same plaza to enjoy as well. I will definitely be coming back! read more

She gave me explanations into certain ingredients and what to look for as well as give me her recommendations. This is a small store with lots of Kbeauty and Jbeauty products that are fairly priced. I love that the sales associates are always available to answer questions and make recommendations. They have everything from makeup, skincare, hair, snacks, and more. I really appreciate the fact that they have tester's for most of their products so you can try it out before committing. I appreciate that they have testers out for almost everything; it also prevents people from opening up product that customers are buying. This store had so many different Asian skin care and cosmetic brands that I could hardly keep up with. It could sometimes feel overwhelming with the small space and many aisles, but I'm pretty sure if you were an Asian beauty influencer or enthusiasts of skin care, you'll probably be super excited. It's like the beauty section of a Tokyo Central or Mitsuwa exploded into a tiny store! I'm sure there are things that this place doesn't have, but if you took the time to go through each of the brands you'll probably always find something that you can try. It looks like a bunch of the different brands and items very in price point and there's not that much descriptions other than some small translations done in english. You probably should do your research ahead of time online or maybe come to the store ahead and look up while you're there. They also have International sunscreen Brands and products that you can't find in Normal stores. They're the type of sun filters that are not available for the US consumer so it's kind of cool that you can try these filters. You know they're safe because every other European country and Korea and Japan do have these UVA and UVB New Generation filters that do not feel heavy and sting your eyes. This store does not also seem like a Aritaum/Amore Pacific, Skinfood, or other brand specific cosmetic store that only offers their own products. It offers a bunch of different brands kind of like a Sephora but not really. If you are looking to try new Asian products or just trying to find a gift for a friend, do check this place out! From what the purpose I was there, which was finding a gift for a friend, I was unsuccessful since most of the items were individually packaged and there weren't any gift sets like how you can find at department stores or Sephora or ulta. So if you have a friend that knows exactly what they want on a secret santa list or your not restricted by budget you can check this place. read more

2 stars because I've came here multiple times as I live down the street so when I run out of sunscreen or some of my skin care it is easier for me to come and get it here, with that being said I felt like the first time I came the girls that work here were a little standoffish, as they didn't say hi or asked if I needed help but as soon as other girls came in they right away said hi and asked if they needed help, they also kept watching me like a hawk and I'm guessing is bc I'm latina and they probably were a little judgemental, but now is been couple of times that I have came and I think the people that work there need better customer service as they always are so rude and to be honest I think it's because I'm not Asian, they give me the weird stares, the following around the store, and being just plain rude with not even saying thank you after your purchase, their prices to me seem reasonable but I know there are more stores like this in Orange county so even though this store is conveniently the closest to me, I will make the drive to other stores just to avoid the uncomfortable feeling, I have been to couple of other Asian beauty stores in Buena Park and the customer service is always so helpful and respectful. I wanted so badly to like this place, but unfortunately there were 2 main factors that convinced me that this place isn't worth it. Frankly, the prices weren't much of a deal/some products more expensive than other places. They have all the same standard stuff that you can easily find at any other stores in Irvine that sell Japanese products. But the main thing honestly, is the staff. First time, I was here with my classmates after lecture; there was an older asian lady that followed around a pair of girls so closely, it was an obvious stalking. So obvious that we could all hear the girls talking about how uncomfortable it was how *close* this worker was to them. Eventually, they were intimidated enough to leave the store promptly with nothing. I thought "oh that's weird, maybe they were stealing?" Until I visited this place by myself, and I experienced the same treatment from the same older Asian woman from before! Like the last time, I went after lecture one day, except the moment I walked in the stalking began and it was painfully OBVIOUS. I had done research beforehand (had a whole LIST) so I know what products to buy, but instead I ended up walking out without buying a single thing. That's how uncomfortable it was. The experience was so jarring, especially when lighter-skinned Asians would walk in the store and were immediately greeted with such warmth & welcoming. And that same older Asian woman would help them with products/recommendations & had a non-stop smile on her face; the exact opposite of what I had been experiencing. The younger female staff here are much friendlier and helpful, but it's not enough to offset the attitude of the elder staff member. Being shocked, I recounted this tale to other classmates & was even further shocked that this apparently is a known thing (amongst us uni students) -- and that a multitude of others have been treated like this too. That's the reason why a lot of us don't recommend this store. & Quite frankly, in Irvine there's a multitude of Japanese goods-based shops that are arguably better than this spot, especially price-wise. The staff has a bad habit of treating many customers that walk in here like thieves -- how can you expect people to shop like that? So if you want someone following you literally aisle to aisle and constantly looking over your shoulder, then go ahead & experience what it's like to be treated like a thief. Otherwise, I would stay far away from this place & spend your hard-earned money elsewhere where you'll be treated properly and with respect. read more

Genuinely the only Asian beauty store that I regularly return to. I've been to various different Asian beauty stores all throughout Irvine, Buena Park, Fullerton, etc. and this shop is the only one that I've ever come back to multiple times. I find many Asian beauty stores (especially the other ones in Irvine) tend to mark up their prices unreasonably high and bank on clueless customers who don't know better about how much these products should actually cost. At this location the prices are all reasonable and they always have a pretty large supply, so every time I come for a restock of my current products they almost always have it. They're also mostly always up to date with the current trends and current best sellers, which is another great thing! Definitely give them a visit if you're looking for somewhere with reasonable pricing and a large assortment of both Korean and Japanese products! read more
