Since I posted my experience at the Amesbury Massachusetts Plant Fitness, The response just alone tells you what you'll be dealing with. In their response it must not be this planet. Wrong. Amesbury Massachusetts. Ask for Tonya You'll probably get the same experience.. If you choose to join, just pay attention. I've been going to PF Amesbury for a few months now. I have a regimen of trying to hit it 3 times a week for toning and very modest body-building. So far so good. It's nice and light and airy because of high ceilings and some skylights. Not too crowded, it's pretty rare to have to wait for any station. There's a good mix of really fit people quite focused on specific muscle groups vs more casual peeps just wanting to move their bodies. Nice staff too. read more

Whoa! Major upgrade. This PF redid the bathrooms and installed............... Showers! They also took a chunk of space from the preschool to expand the weights area. New weight machines, better organization and more space all equate a better PF. The treadmills are all still ancient. Pass read more

This gym isn't my favorite. I come here when I am in town, but I don't feel like they have a lot to offer. They do, however, have a large cardio section, almost larger than all the other equipment combined. The locker rooms are tiny tiny, and need a good sprucing up. The tanning area is really gross, so I avoid it. I've been to other Planet Fitnesses, so I'm not knocking the chain, but this location needs some love. I do love these two machines they have that nobody else around has-I will post photos. read more

I started working out at this planet fitness 12 years ago when they first open. It used to be a judgment free zone however its now turned into "dont work out here if you actually look like you work out" zone. The gym used to have a family feel to it when brain was the manager. They took care of the regulars and everyone was made to feel welcome. Now the mgt and over weight staff members treat people like just another worthless number. If you plan to get in shape dont bother with this gym. read more

I've been going here for a while now and it's a good gym.. very affordable. I think it's so cheap because they don't offer classes, but if you're just looking for cardio & weight machines this is your place. I signed up online for the black card, which was very easy & convenient. The next day I went in got my card and free tshirt and was good to go. The staff is very friendly but not intrusive, they let you do your own thing but are there if you need anything. The people there are of all different shapes and ages, it's a good mix. My only complaints would be it isn't 24 hours - I wish it was! and the tanning beds aren't the greatest/strongest, I would always recommend cleaning them before you get in.. because you never know if the person before you did or not.. but for what you pay they do the job. One thing that I think is really great is that if you sign up for the black card, which is $20 a month, you can bring one guest per day for free, so the bf comes everyday with me... no additional charge. awesome. The facility is nice -- clean and accessible. The parking lot is a mess. Anything goes. Most importantly, however, is the trainer. Her hours are not convenient for working people -- she is only there during typical work hours. No evenings, no weekends, ever. And the one time I was able to meet with her she was awful -- abrasive, know-it-all attitude (even though I know some of the things she said were incorrect). Not at all helpful. I am paying for the membership and I'm committed to getting fit, but she almost made me never want to step foot in the place again. read more

Nice gym. The staff seemed helpful and made me feel comfortable. The ladies locker room area was nice and clean. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the tanning beds aren't very good. Im white and did the full time my first day and didn't even sweat, but it's not too big of a problem. I like this gym because it's small and had everything I need. Will be going back for sure!! read more

This gym is dated, the equipment is worn, the bathrooms are never stocked properly, the staff is inexperienced and rude and has very little sense of good customer service. The other branches of planet fitness nearby are superior because they are actually run by Planet Fitness itself. The Amesbury branch is an independent franchise and horribly managed. I joined Amesbury Planet Fitness when I moved back to Hampton Harbor, NH. I joined online and entered my address to find the closest gym. I wasn't sure if the Newburyport location was closer to where I lived. It made sense to join the Amesbury location, less traffic then Newburyport area and the gym was close to the Stop N Shop I shop at, also in Amesbury. I love this gym. It has everything I need and the gym equipment was exactly like the Medford location, another PF I use when I commute to work in Charlestown. The Amesbury location is never too busy, so I can get in and out quickly. The staff is always super nice and the gym is clean. I am a Black Card member and this allows me to stop at different gyms all around Boston, depending on which school I am working at year to year. I also own a home in Maine and spend my summers in Saco/Old Orchard Beach/Ocean Park area. I use the PF in Biddeford during the times I am in Maine. The Biddeford location has slightly different equipment then Amesbury and Medford, but it allows my workouts to be slightly different, which isn't a bad thing when strength training. read more

Total scam. I joined last year with a Black membership. Shortly after my schedule changed and going to the gym was not possible. I was locked in for a year. Hoping Id get a chance to go I decided not to pay the buyout. I kept paying my monthly dues. I had it in my head that I had to wait until June to complete my contract. On June 1st I was charged an annual fee. I forgot there even was an annual fee. No warning or reminder. I canceled my membership today as I had been planning. NO REFUND on the annual fee. Ive now paid an annual fee on a service that I don't have. Today is the first time Ive been in the gym since the day I joined. Any company that does not send any type of notice or offer a grace period is in my opinion looking to take advantage. Why else would they not give a grace of 24 or 48 hours? They hope you forget or don't fully understand the policy so they can take your money. This is my second time as a member (the first was a 1 time payment promotion). I hope they enjoy my $39 because I wont be back when my schedule settles down. Buyer beware. Do not get sucked into the Black membership. Take it for what it is. A cheap gym (at $9.99) that is probably struggling to stay open if they need to take advantage of its members. BTW "the contract serves as your reminder of the annual fee".
