Since I've joined, I've gained muscle, learned better technique and made some really awesome friends. I love that everyone there from their incredible training staff to the lifters themselves are knowledgeable and helpful to anyone that walks in the door. It really does feel like a tight knit family that is welcoming to everyone willing to put in the work, from the feel at the gym during classes to the chili cookoffs and Phillies games together. In fact, just this past weekend we drove 2 hours down to Delaware just to watch some of our friends from the gym compete in a strongman competition and it was a blast! We've brought numerous friends for drop-in workouts and they've all walked away impressed at the camaraderie and top of the line equipment that owners Katie and Brian have for their gym. Whether it's strongman, powerlifting, Olympic lifting or cross fit style workouts you are seeking, you can find it all at Power Plant, and then some. My wife and I actually participate in Spartan races and we love that there are numerous rigs, ropes, assault bikes, and sandbags to help supplement our training.

I did not have a good experience here. On the positive side, the equipment is quite good. There are…read moredeadlift platforms and two nicely built power racks. There are some bench platforms and plenty of chalk. There is also strongman equipment such as Atlas stones. So, whether you are into Olympic lifting or powerlifting or strongman training, there is ample equipment for you. The problem is the people. As long as you are putting money into their pockets --- as by paying for training, the trainers are attentive. So, I paid somewhere around $500 for some personal training, and the advice and coaching was solid. The problem is that once you stop paying, it is evident that the trainers and the owners could care less about you --- never mind that you are paying the monthly dues. So, after I finished with my personal training sessions, I was lucky to get a nod of acknowledgement--- from the owner all the way down to the staff. And if you ask for something as simple as a spot, they act as if you are somehow imposing. I might as well have been at Planet Fitness. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel that when you pay, you are entitled to at least be treated civilly. Finally, the unpleasant atmosphere was too much, and I canceled my membership. Summary --- good equipment, but poor people-skills on the part of the owners and employees.

They have a ton of rules posted about guest passes then they let anyone in for free. Not sure why I pay I could just walk in. It's getting dirtier every day. One girl cleans and does a good job but does so at like 10am. Why can't they do this when the gym is shut down? Or maybe more than once a day?. Wish the gym would suspend or revoke their memberships to those who can't figure out where the dumbbell they were using goes or those who just completely say F it and don't re-rack their weights. They have no bands. Their clips for the cable attachments seem to either break or get stolen just about every day. They have 3 basketballs. The pool has been closed for a while and I've never seen one person working on fixing it. Working here must suck. Over the past two years I haven't seen one person work here longer than 6 months besides maybe a salesman or two. I have no idea who's in charge of this place. The trainers don't last here for more than a month either. If I didn't live walking distance away I'd go to a different gym.

LA Fitness Is a Total Scam - Avoid at All Costs!…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. Over a year ago, I signed up for an LA Fitness membership and personal training under the impression that I could cancel anytime. What they conveniently failed to mention was that the personal training contract was locked in for a full year at $200 a month--no way out. Fine. I waited out the year, canceled the trainer, and thought I was done. But guess what? They kept charging me $200 a month anyway! And when I tried to resolve it? No customer service to call, no easy way to cancel--they force you to physically go into a location just to stop payments. So, I went in person to cancel. The employee gave me a phone number for a manager who could supposedly handle it. Turns out, the number was disconnected. So I went back--again--only to be told the manager wasn't there and I'd have to go to a different location. I drove 20 minutes to another location, asked for the manager, and was then told only the personal training manager could cancel it. That manager no longer even works there. The employee had no idea what to do, and I was left completely stuck--still being charged $200 a month for a service I don't use and can't seem to cancel. At this point, LA Fitness is literally just stealing my money, and I have no idea what to do next. I think I'm going to contact a lawyer. DO NOT sign up for anything at this gym unless you want to be scammed.

Then if they changed the plans of the classes, then myself was not properly either reimburse or apportioned something comparable without having to ask. They would've just let me throw my money for absolutely nothing. The stress, time, and energy of the negotiations of this, and then being asked several times and my willingness to tell the managers/admin why I did not want to rejoin the gym made for a very unpleasant experience. When I would try to do the classes which I paid for in advance but then after the changeover, the staff who taught the classes didn't seem to be getting reimburse properly and it was a struggle to sign up what I had paid for. Why I couldn't just be offered 4 free shakes or 50% of the full amount I paid for a few classes at that time as I had used about half of what I paid for, because that is the equivalent amount I didn't use at that time is beyond me. The system where managers supposedly cannot reimburse or offer something reasonably comparable with flexibility where the customer is negotiating a reasonable request from the beginning is aggravating and very absurd. Over 2 years later, I am still on their e-mal list. I have requested many times to be removed from the e-mail list and they keep sending me things, but under a different name usually because personnel change. This is a gym with good parking and they keep the equipment in reasonable shape overall, but the system needs to change greatly. I had to think about writing this review because it has been so long, but it is totally relevant and related to when I was with this particular Edge for 1 year and 2 or 3 months. It is related to the previous review I wrote, and I cannot edit that one at this point.
