Been coming to this gym before it was planet fitness . Before Covid ladies bathroom was clean daily. It's like they let go of their cleaning person . They might have new walls, but the place has not been cleaned for weeks. Looks like I need to find a new gym. Very disappointed. The old floor mat was much (better) . I have been coming to this location for a little while now. Machines are usually clean and when it's not packed during peak hours you can rotate pretty good through a rotation. The staff is nice and Chris especially is always there to greet you at the door. Only downside is the wifi recently changed and can be quite slow to the point I end up using cellular. read more

This company is a scam, they over charged me multiple times- making me pay $40 a month for a $20 membership, stating that "there is something wrong with my bank account," when in fact there has never been anything wrong with my bank account. Which is why, after speaking to and fighting with several people, I was refunded my money back. The employees are rude and condescending at the Bristol location. I was screamed at by an employee because I was on FaceTime while working out. I wasn't aware that was against the rules. I was so embarrassed that I left and I haven't been there in months. I asked them to put my account on hold and today they charged my account another $40!!! When I called to speak to someone about it, the manager hung up on me multiple times and would not even let me speak my mind. Very unprofessional. read more

Two visits since reopening mid June. Sanitary discipline by staff & patrons is very adequate. Better than supermarkets, airports most retail venues. (I ware sweats and gloves in this envrionment.) HVAC seems a bit underpowered, may be the hot humid days. With appropriate personal separation and awareness I have limited concearns in COVID times. Lots of room! Spacious layout allows for relaxed and non-crowded atmosphere. I have been a member of PF since the beginning and my home gym is actually in Dover, NH - the first location ever! Bristol is true to the PF culture of providing a stress free, judgement free environment with all the equipment needed to get a great workout. Staff is super-friendly and establishment is immaculate! The staff is friendly and always smiling. Can't beat the 24 hour opening during the week. Even during busy times there is a treadmill or elliptical open. Must recommend!! read more

Out of all the Planet Fitness locations I have been, Bristol seems to be the best. It is very large and spaced out so you don't feel as if you're working out on top of other people. They have a larger variety of weight machines than other locations and I appreciate that the cardio machines are spaced out. It is generally clean in the bathrooms and I am always in shock to see that the ceilings/floors are not covered in dust (every other location is). I can actually breathe! The only negative to this particular location is that you can see Harvest Bakery from the stair-climber (and yes I have had to frequent Harvest one too many times after a trip to this Pfit location). read more

I really enjoy this gym a lot. I enrolled my 14 year old daughter who can go alone and I bring my son as a guest. The black preferred card is the way to go. The facility is clean and really quiet at night. They just upgraded their equipment too. I haven't had the opportunity to take advantage of their classes yet but looking forward to it. I wanted to finally come out of my pandemic bubble & decided that Planet Fitness had all of the right check boxes for me to be comfortable moving forward with a membership! A girl HAS to work off all of this delicious food that I love to review! The gym itself has sanitizer for the machines & a hand pump style sanitizer out (That I won't touch - I bring my own but it is there!) & masks are required & their app for checking in is wicked easy & they even have a "Crowd Meter" on it so you know how busy they are to make the decision on whether to go or not. I was very comfortable going my 1st time although I did see 1 maskless patron, I simply stayed on the opposite side of the gym & chalked it up to 1 idiot. Last night was visit # 2 & I will never be going back unfortunately - Just within my eyesight aka my immediate vicinity, I counted 7 patrons exercising vigorously with their masks down on their chin with no staff in sight to correct the BLATANT safety issue for all of the patrons of the gym. I REALLY wanted this to work but if they will not make certain their patrons adhere to public safety measures, than I guess it isn't the right time for a Planet Fitness membership. read more

I have been a member of Planet Fitness both before (around 2008-2010) and after (since earlier this spring) their major renovation to their Bristol location. That renovation alone bumps Planet Fitness from a 2-star to a 4-star gym. The gym's renovation has really opened up the "downstairs" cardio area. What used to be a cramped, almost claustrophobic setup is now much more open, and the expanded area now includes a wall lined with windows, letting in some much needed natural light. Moving the tanning rooms from the downstairs to the main area also helps open up some additional room, which led to the creation of a second closed-off "30 minute express" area. A standard membership is only $10 a month, and unless you require a tanning bed or the ability to bring a friend whenever you want, there's really no reason to upgrade to the $20 a month option. The gym is not as nice as LA Fitness down the road (although the renovation has majorly bumped up Planet's overall look and feel), but unless you're willing to spend $30 a month to use the basketball court, racquetball courts, or the pool/sauna/hot tub area, you'd be much better off spending 1/3 of the price and just got to Planet Fitness. Especially if all you're looking for are free weights, machines, and cardio equipment, which you can get at any gym. Overall, if you're looking for an above average gym experience and aren't looking to break the bank, Planet Fitness would be the gym for you! read more

The only really big complaint that I have about this gym is that people using the 30 minute circuit area just sit on and hog the machines. This should be enforced, especially if there's members who really want to use it. The last 5 times I've been there, this has always been the case. The staff doesn't seem interested in enforcing it at all. Other than that, the place has everything else I need. read more

To start off - I have never had a gym membership anywhere else, so I don't know exactly how much weight you'll give to my opinions. Planet Fitness is a very reasonably priced gym ($10/month or $20/month for the Black Card which gives several benefits) and doesn't have a lot of the high-end finishes or extras that you might find at a higher priced establishment. There's no pool or courts or anything like that. What there is is a good amount of cardio machines and strength equipment in a very accessible environment. The locker areas recently underwent a full renovation that makes them much more welcoming and the gym is open 24 hours during the week which makes scheduling your time very easy. The trainer/classes are free, but only available on a limited schedule - it's good if your schedule allows you to be there when they're available but for the price you're paying they really can't accommodate custom scheduling. All in all, I definitely recommend it as long as you're willing to be mostly self-motivated and self-designing your fitness routine. It might not be the most efficient if you're not already a fitness guru, but it's a very good place to start. read more

From a longtime member, this used to be a much better club but in my opinion, the quality has gone down due to reduced staffing. I've recently had my 3rd experience where a person working out near me starts using their phone to face-time in speaker mode at full volume then has an extended conversation. The last time they also continued the 2-way video feed walking into the Womens lock room - not cool! This club does a good job of posting the rules, but it no longer has employees walk the floor to see how people are doing which means you have to be the one to stop your workout and complain if you want anything done. A while back they were staffed up enough to avoid this, but no longer. I'd carefully consider this if deciding to go here and compare to other clubs. read more

The facility didn't seem very clean, it was a dreary atmosphere with really poor lighting. We begin the tour, the first thing I was told when inquiring about the place was the strict "no lunk" policy and the lunk alarm. This seemed like a fear tactic and sounded ridiculous. The equipment was alright, but lacked in variety and the purple/yellow on all the equipment was just so tacky. Love the service, was greeted extremely kindly there. Surprised how attentive the reps are at the desk and on the phone. The first man I spoke with was Chris and he was very helpful on the phone and in person. I signed up with the GM and he was awesome too. I do like what they did with the place, but I really don't like that they don't have a punching bag. I left my other gym because this is closer but my other gym had a punching bag and the same price. They lock you in a contract NO MATTER WHAT!!!!! My father passed away and I had to move to CT to take care of my younger sister. I tried to cancel my membership as this was an unnecessary expense during an extremely tough time but I was told "Exercise can be a healthy way to grieve" and then they promptly refused to cancel w/o charging a large Fee. My 'go to' place for my morning workout. The staff and members are friendly. The facility is clean and well maintained.

So this is your basic run of the mil gym, it has a lot of work out machines that work many different muscles. It seems like people who gave the bad reviews didn't understand what a "contract" means lol. 1. You should read everything before you sign it, that was their fault and 2. Breaking a contract or canceling usually comes with a fee... Duh. I saw one person said "its dirty in there" um... Not really, everyone is always wiping down after themselves AND I constantly see workers cleaning every time I go in. If you get the black card which is only $20 a month, super cheap compared to other places, you get 50% off their drinks, use the tanning beds whenever, and get the classes they offer (if you can make the times). This facility is clean, spacious and the workers have always been nice. If you're gonna sign a contract though please be sure to read everything first, instead of writing a bad review because you're to stupid to read... Thanks! read more

Jan 16, 2017 ; 1st day today trying this location on Bristol and Memory Lane. I absolutely loved the fact that there was a greater extent of space to work out and variety of machines for ABS and WEIGHTS. The reason I'm giving this a 2 is because 1. CUSTOMER SERVICE : NEGATIVE; the girl up in the front was TOO BUSY FLIRTING with one of the "GYM MEMBERS" and didn't even noticed I was leaving until I said "bye " this occurred @ 10:30pm (UNLIKE THE OTHER GYMS always attentive who goes in and out) 2. It looked so FILTHY!! The ladies bathroom looked really dirty, there was also extremely crunched up brown paper towels on the floor in the work out areas ,that were used to wipe down the machines?, "Umm, I hope" Yikes! & Yes I got a separate towel and picked it up to toss it in the trash!! (UNLIKE OTHER GYMS always making sure their gym is clean for their customers) 3. Most of the machines were taken by people who were NOT EVEN WORKING OUT! Ugh! Ridiculous! All of them were on their phones & sitting down chatting! I actually did ask one of them if the machine was still going to be used and that person responded "No, not at all ", (I couldn't believe it). I think this GYM either needs to retrain their staff , or get new staff that ACTUALLY have a passion and desire to work in A GYM .Please gym members let's encourage one another to maintain a CLEAN area since the staff doesn't do it. To keep the BUSINESS steady these factors will be pointed out to you by others like myself because we actually want to remain a healthy atmosphere among us .With that said to my NEW beginners or anyone discouraged of working out THE BEGINNING IS THE TOUGHEST , STAY STRIVING , BE A SELF STARTER AND ALWAYS REMAIN POSITIVE! I have been a member of many other gyms before. I joined this location because it was convenient for me on my way home from work. When i went to sign up I was greeted by a very friendly staff who toured me and were very helpful. I didnt feel pressured to join like at LA Fitness or other clubs. I have been working out here for about 3 months and it has been a great atmosphere, the members are nice, and i never have to wait for any machines. One thing that really stands out is that the club is always very clean...the staff is always working on something (which is rare to see at a fitness club). The equipment could use an upgrade, but for $19.99 a month, I am very happy with this club. Great price, great management/staff, clean club...VERY happy with being a member here. read more
