Good: Available Hours Bad: Customer Service, when standing at the counter usually no ones available. However if someone is behind the counter they do not acknowledge you when they are assisting another customer. This planet fitness is truly one of the best gyms on the south side of Chicago, however they just hired a new customer service rep whose attitude is stinking up the spot !! There's an old lady that works there now named Tanya. (My apologizes if she identifies as something else I'm not sure) She not only was rude and disrespectful, she continued to try to attack me after I got someone else involved. Not even going to lie. This is one of the best planet fitness I've been to out of all the ones I've been to. The one in oak lawn is in my top list but also is this one. I prefer this one and the oak lawn one over the one that's downtown and the one on 47th. I like the fact that it's very spacious. The air feels clean unlike the small planet fitness on 47th and downtown. People are friendly . I was working out last time and this guy gave me a tip on how to work on my shoulders which was cool! So, I walked in the cancel my membership over a year ago. I just saw an annual fee deducted from my account in the amount of $39. When I called, Noel was rude and told me my account was on a freeze and that I had signed off on it. I walked in to cancel my account, not freeze it. An employee not doing their job properly is not my issue. I recall being asked to sign the credit card reader then went on my way. The whole exchange was no more than 5 minutes. I'm a member elsewhere and definitely have not considered this gym since moving back to Chicago. When I asked for Noel's position, she said "I don't have one." Don't go here. Staff and members are ghetto. She told me to speak with Jeanette on Monday since no one was in today who could help me. Today is Wednesday. Looking for a number for corporate now. I called the location back about an hour later and spoke with a gentleman who said that Jeanette would actually be in today at 11am. Called back around 1pm and Noel answered. I asked for Jeanette and she said she would be in around 2 (after telling me that she wouldn't be in until Monday when I first called). read more

Super uncomfortable with employees who are hitting On you while you workout. He went as far to catch me leaving out of the locker room to tell me I look good. It was around 11pm yesterday, I'm a female and I appeared to be alone since my friend worked out in another area. I expect creepy behavior (him waving at me while I deadlift and gazing at me from the corner) from other gym members BUT NOT THE STAFF. I fear for the safety and comfort for other female members working out alone. He was tall, dark skinned with a low box shaped cut. I would say he's 6'3. I had cancel my membership back in February of 2020 due to my back injury and I was told that I couldn't workout until I completed therapy. Planet fitness is still coming in my account taking money out. I have not step one foot in this gym. When I called up there I was told my membership was not fully cancel cause I had a balance of $63 for the months of June and July of 2020 Mins you I cancel my membership back in February. This is a review of the 83rd and Holland location. Everything is fine except that they allow this one individual to have exercise classes and they take over entire sections of the gym and are really loud. It is intrusive and annoying. The facility is not set up for classes. Also, I am sure that I have seen signs that say "no training". So why is he aloud to do so? One other concern is that people sometimes sneak past the check in desk. I have seen it happen on numerous occasions. Other than that, the facility is nice, clean and operational. Easy check in . I can workout at times when it's not crowded. It's kept clean and I observe patrons doing their part to sanitize after their workouts. There could be more info on how to use the machines. While you can use your phone to scan a machine and get details, I don't want to carry my phone throughout my workout. This being the digital age, I know that's an easy solution but it minimizes interaction with staff who should be paying attention to patrons to see if they are doing things right. I have gym memberships at several fitness chains and am in multiple gyms every week. Out of all the gyms I go to, this particular gym is by far the cleanest. That means a lot to patrons like me who live in gyms. Other gyms may have better equipment, but I'm in constant fear of contracting something even with wiping down equipment before and after use. I came in to get my membership renewed and to my surprise I had a balance that had to be paid. The balance was more then what I had expected to pay for an membership that day. The staff was so courtesy and concerned that I got what I needed. Anica was the nicest and when she could do exactly what I needed she went and got Eijuawn (I think that's the spelling) who worked to make sure I was able to get my membership. I really appreciated the way they made sure I was happy and made me feel like I would want to gone there and workout. This was a mouth ago and even when I see them while in the gym they are always up beat and very courteous, making the gym not seem so bad but welcoming. Keep up the great job guys! read more

This location and planet fitness in general is a joke. They take your money off your card whenever they want and won't let you cancel even when you don't even access or use the gym. The manager at this location is name Tameka and she is never there especially in the morning when a lot of people like to do business. I don't recommend this gym to anyone. Oh and don't call planet fitness corporate that can't help resolve issues either. You are better off paying more for LA Fitness or XSport, you can cancel anytime whether you owe a balance or not u like PF. read more

This is a gem in the community. Its clean and smells nice. I can even say the staff is pleasant and helpful in dispute resolution.

In short, the customer service is in dire need of improvement. Upon coming in on multiple occasions, the desk staff stares you down until you speak to them and upon leaving no one bothers to say goodbye. The Pullman location is nothing like this. They greet you, say goodbye and even make small talk if you're near the desk, anticipating any need that you may have. I've never been a "gym" person. But I was thrilled to learn of the opening of the Chatham facility. I don't need the "frills" or the expense associated with most gym memberships. The membership fees are affordable and the facility is great. I take advantage of the Personal Training sessions as much as possible. I was thrilled to see they opened a location of Planet Fitness near my house because I was driving to Evergreen Park where I originally signed up at. This location is not only clean and has friendly staffers and especially Cordell who started out in the Evergreen Park location and then was moved to the Chatham location. The gym is still getting up off the ground since some areas are still in construction. Some Planet Fitness locations have on site hair barbers where VIP black card members can get free haircuts, but this location doesnt have that, but they do offer the use of massage beds and chairs and tanning beds. They do enforce the NO gymtimidation rule and that is you come to exercise not to show off or pick up people which seems to be an issue at gyms like LA Fitness and Formula Fitness where people come there to pick up someone instead of working out. I like how you come there and nobody bothers you. I also like how Planet Fitness stays open 24 hours in some locations, but I would like to see this location stay open later than just 24 hours Monday through Thursday and Friday hours from 6a to 9pm and 7a to 7p on Saturdays and Sundays. Overall the gym is top notch on standards and what I like is the free personal training for their black card members so take advantage of that because personal training sessions are charged extra at other gyms. This gym is not in Roseland when it comes up it's located in the Chatham neighborhood. read more

I will never recommend these people! I came here to cancel after it no longer became convenient for me to travel back and forth by bus with my new apartment location by public transport. These people had the nerve to not only to charge me a fee of $58 because I have the black card member (which I ironically got for the convenience), but the regional manager of this franchise lied to my face about how it was my fault it didn't read the FINE PRINT because she always read the terms of agreement. What a liar! The fact that she could lie with such ease to a paying customer is disgusting. I have never heard of such a fee this high for a gym that's name isn't the east bank club. I will warn everyone I see from now on about planet fitness and their shisty, money grubbing ways. They wouldn't even let me speak to the owner of the place (after they stupidly told me the one downtown would be closer to my Hyde park apartment, 15 minutes, so not only does the regional manager lie to my face but doesn't even know where Hyde park is and its relationship to downtown. Why would I go all the way downtown to work out by bus and train? not everyone has a car!) customer service was COMPLETE garbage. No one was helpful in the least as they smiled in my face while telling me to get over it. Never again. Even if they are the last gym if earth, NEVER again. I see why they have a trash rating with BBB. I wish I had known about their ratings with them before signing up. Don't sign up with them. I think it just awful how to treat people who pay more than everyone else for a membership. I mean I was paying DOUBLE and this is how they treat people. Not only has this turned me off planet fitness, but it turned me off gyms in general :( P.S. And you know what's crazy, I planned on COMING BACK to this planet fitness because I don't particularity care for Hyde park like that. But AFTER I moved back into the area. Now I'm just done. That is a ridiculous fee to pay and no one told me. IT should be company policy to tell every new member of that fee. They don't even give you an option to suspend the membership. Some of the staff is very rude for example the staff member Sydney is very rude, very unprofessional, very nasty with an unpleasant attitude. This person will repeatedly try to argue with customers, which is very terrible for business. Who ever trained this individual needs to be fire, because there customer service skills are terrible. Not to bring up race because I am an African American male, but it is very sad that these African american managed businesses such as the Chatham Planet Fitness and Chatham Walmart has terrible customer service and very rude staff. Let me just start out by saying that I have recently been to the Planet Fitness in Addison, Melrose Park, on California near Lincoln Park and in Peoria Illinois since I hold a black card membership. THIS planet fitness outshines them all. I love this place. Let me start by saying that this place is crazy, crazy, crazy clean. I actually see staff cleaning the whole time I am there working out, there are never paper towels on the floor and the bathrooms are also clean. I almost never see the staff playing on their phones, they really put in work. Because they have such high standards of cleanliness, it seems to rub off on the patrons. They have created a culture here where people really do a nice job leaving spaces clean and orderly for the next person. I bring my siblings or other guests to this place as well and my guests are always impressed. I hope upper management uses this branch as a standard. I was appalled at the low standards being implemented at all the other branches. Hats off to this team, you have my money and my recommendation for as long as I stay in the area. read more
