I just moved to the area and this is the first time coming to this location that is about 5-minutes from my house. Now my home gym was in Woodbridge and compared to this one Woodbridge doesn't compare at all! First off this Planet Fitness is truly 24/7 so that is a plus right off top! And there is enough parking for everyone which again is not the case of the Woodbridge location. Now when I walked inside because this is my first time and I had to get a quick workout before work I did a quick walk through of the business. And my God it's huge compared to the Woodbridge location and I saw so many different machines here I've never seen before! Especially the glute thruster machine! Yes! Because it's large there are several different workout areas so you are not on top of each other and able to get in a quick 30-45 minute workout in and out. I went around 230pm and didn't have any problem with getting a cardio machine to warm up and knocking out a quick workout on bench and machines. Now this is the kicker that makes me love this Planet Fitness...I am the type of person who would go back home if I forgot my headphones. But because the music selection they had playing I didn't even need my headphones! This is a FIRST for me! Now it might not be your cup of tea of the music choice, but I was able to get a great 45-minute workout without any problems. I am a Black Card member and I love that they have actual rooms that has the massage chairs, etc that is Black Card members are able to use. I love that it's out the way from the main workout floor and separate. I didn't see a couple of the new machines that were suppose to be placed in Planet Fitness like the hack squat and the calf weight machine. So hopefully they will be getting those soon...but with the new equipment they do have the workout options are limitless! I didn't see the abduction or adductor machines but I might have missed them. Update...I found them in the area with the other glute focused section. Again a great place to put it so you won't be busting it wide open in the middle of the floor...lol A couple of things I see is they need to pay a little more attention to the bathroom cleanliness. Toliet tissue is all over the floor. Also, I'm a black card member and they only have maybe a couple of the massage beds that work. So if you don't get there first you won't be able to use it unless you wait. I don't know the time limit so I can't say because it seemed like the people who was using them took longer than the 10-mins Woodbridge makes you take. But other than that it's a clean gym! I will be canceling my other gym membership. So happy I went with the black card membership so that I was able to go and try other gyms without having to set up another membership. I go during off peak hours and the staff are always extremely helpful and friendly, specifically Darrell. He does an amazing job keeping the gym clean and well maintained given the daily heavy traffic. As a previous home gym person I was a bit anxious about working out publicly. But interacting with Darrell has made the transition a lot better. He makes everyone feel welcome and like they belong. He embodies the mission and goal of Planet Fitness. I don't find myself in this area often, but when I do this PF gets rue job done. It is I'm a strip mall and there is ample. parking. There is a dollar tree about 20 feet away if you need an energy drink or water to get you through the workout. And the staff is always chill and laid back. On the flip side, I don't ever see any of them cleaning on a consistent basis which concerns me due to the pandemic and germs. But I keep workout gloves in the car at all times. Overall this is a good gym with fairly new equipment. I will definitely be back when in pretty girl county!!! read more

I recently found out that Planet Fitness doesn't care about the customer it's all about money$$$ for them. They will allow you to start a membership online. But, they won't allow you to cancel it online. You have to visit a location or write a letter, which is very inconvenient. They will allow you to put in your credit card information and electronically sign to start. But, say they need your hard signature to cancel. How does that make any sense? It doesn't make sense; it just shows it's about keeping the ACH payments coming out. I will no longer do business with Planet Fitness because of this!! Bad customer service/practice! read more

Planet Fitness, why so serious? Planet fitness, as a whole, has so many friggin rules! I hate that I can't wear a head scarf while I work out (unless it's tucked under a baseball cap). And I hate that I can't lunk out every once in a while (I know this is the brand, but that doesn't make it any less annoying)! The men hog all the squat machines, and they're missing a few things I'd like to have (I.e. kettle bells). It's also shocking to me that they'd have a big tub of tootsie rolls on the check-in counter, and they serve pizza and bagels. Counter intuitive, much? But on the flip side, they have PLENTY of cardio machines, the gym is really clean and not stinky, and it's a good size. It's well worth the 10 bucks if you want an affordable, no bells-and-whistles, 24 hour gym. I also apprecite that black card members can bring a free guest. But just know that if you're a serious weight lifter or exercise enthusiast who likes to get into your workouts (grunting, dropping weights, audible encouragement), consider other options. 3 stars for the no scarf rule. Nice gym with lots of equipment. The women's locker room is scary. You don't know what you'll see. I walked in there once and saw two girls with their pants pulled down. They were turned around looking in the mirror practicing some booty shacking move. There weren't stripper material. This was an awful sight. Be warned that this location Strickland enforces the planet fitness nationwide rules. I've seen body builders get kicked out for low cut body building tops. I heard the staff say "Sir your nipples are showing." Remember folks do not come here thinking you can show nipples. You will get kicked out for bringing a jug of water. Planet fitness is cheaper than WSC and Capitol Sports Club(Run N Shoot), no contract, 24 hours, and it has just enough but diverse group of machines. $10 a month for your home gym but for $20 a month you can use any planet fitness & bring a friend. Clean gym and it doesn't stink. I like how everyone is considerate of hygiene and wipe the machines down after every use, I didn't see that often at my other gym's. It's peak hours are after work 5-8pm for those who don't like a crowd. It's in a shopping center so parking is ample, I was even able to stop by Marshalls once when I forgot my sports bra. lol The staff members are very welcoming, always smiling, and professional. My only issue: The policy stating you can't wear a head scarf while working out but you can wear baseball caps. O_o I was immediately annoyed when I was tapped in the middle of my run to take it off. That's something I had to take up with corporate but I received the most bogus answer and I will follow up on a later date. Maybe they don't know this location is in a predominately Black area (hence the free tanning booth lol) and scarves or head ties are standard for the female workout uniform. I was with WSC for years, which I consider a better quality gym chain and I have never been asked that, so it caught me way off guard. It may not have a pool, basketball court, and free classes but for $10 a month it gets straight to the point. read more

Used to pass this gym all the time on Silver Hill Road and decided to give it a try one day based on online reviews I read. Walked in and I was pleasantly surprised. When I think of Suitland I tend to associate that with "Hood" but this gym was brand new, state of the art equipment and very clean. The staff was very professional and courteous and have been so each time I've gone over the last few weeks. The lockers in the women's bathroom are in good shape and there are plenty to go around. The bathrooms themselves are well kept (this is a big one for me because if the bathrooms aren't clean you can bet everything else won't be...). As others have noted, patrons are pretty good at cleaning off the equipment and there are constant refills of paper towels and cleaning spray all around the gym (every single time I go to Bally's this is a big issue and I can't stand it!). Maybe I'm feeling all good about this gym because it is new, but for the price and convenience you really can't beat it. Some things to note though: you have to give them your checking account information to sign up...no credit cards. I have multiple accounts so I just gave them an old one that can be easily controlled and closed if I am dissatisfied with the service. Ladies, no head wraps...that includes scarfs..I don't wear them in the gym but I know many that do so just beware. Also, if you don't sign up, they do hit you with a $20 fee to workout No freebies...Oh and sometimes parking can be a pain, but it's tolerable compared to the nightmarish parking experience at Bally's in Pentagon City- my old gym. I initially drove to the Oxon Hill location but there were way too many birds flying around and I just could not get out the car. I headed over to this location which is still close to where I live. I didn't realize that parking was in the back of the shopping center but as soon as I got to the back there was parking everywhere. Upon entering I was greeted and invited to take the next available class. Now I've never taken a class from Planet Fitness but happy that they are offering them to customers. I arrived at they gym after 3:30 and was happy to find several machines available. I believe that all of the machines are brand new or at least they seemed that way. There were machines that I've never seen at any of the other Planet Fitness' that I definitely want to try after I get over my intimidation factor. Everything also appeared to be very clean and they were playing a really good selection of music (rap/r&b) in case you forget your headphones. I was very happy to get my first workout in of the year (judge your momma) and I look forward to making work outs at this location a part of my routine. read more

BUT... one day I walked in and met Ms. Sharese and her smiling face! I enjoy this gym very much. I walk in with my headphones on blasting my favorite workout music and get in my 90 minutes of cardio and roll back out. I am one of those people who do not enjoy working out but find it necessary so I am all business. They are only getting a one star , because I have no choice. I went into the branch in person in early May for them to cancel my plan, The guy pulled me up and cancelled my plan, so he said.He informed me that I was going to receive an email cancellation notice, but because o the billing cycle I was going to be charged for May. I understood that. I asked him did I need to sign anything and he told me no, here comes June they pulled money from my account again. I called and yesterday and spoke to Dominique and she informed me that my account was active and had not cancelled. I told her I wanted a refund and my account cancelled. She told me the best way was to come into the gym in person and I informed her as to what difference would it make I came in person and membership was not cancel. I was put on hold for a manger, after 15 minutes no manager and as told by her to take the refund up with ABC billing. I called them and they told me they are a 3rd party billing and have nothing to do with refunds, but will look into this matter with planet fitness. Fed up I called my bank. No this isn't your snobby stuck up gym where ppl workout their fingers from texting more than their body, No it doesn't have a pool with a bar or a spa that gives facials and body massages, IT'S planet fitness...and it's awesome!!!. This gym is for those who want to come do what they got to do and leave with no problems. and for only 10 or 20 bucks a month (depending on which membership you get) i'll accept that gladly. The staff are always nice and constantly refilling paper towels or spray bottles. I think i've only seen one machine that was out of order since i been a member and it was fixed the next week. The women's locker room is clean, though i can't give my 2 cents on the showers since i have a thing with gym showers but many ppl use them and i haven't heard any complaints. The only recent problem is that their has been quite a few incidences of break-ins or stolen property buuuttt....what do you think is going to happen to your things if you leave them in an unlocked...unsupervised locker??? RIGHT so ppl need to wise up a bit. Overall i love this gym because i can do my entire workout without being bothered or harassed and i got a free mini duffle bag when i signed up! PF TIPS: -After 4pm...it gets crowded, deal with it. -Early morning workouts are a breeze because no one is there -Don't leave your stuff unlocked, DUH! -Bring your own yoga mat to stretch if you can, sometimes they have exercise groups who use all the mats. -Be prepared to take your picture so they can identify you next time you come in. -If you happen to spot or get a whiff of the pizza from pizza monday's....JUST RUN! I been going since the day they opened. The gym is solid, but missing some amenities that I enjoy. There is plenty of cardio and weight lifting opportunities, and the 30-minute circuit training is efficient. It would get more stars if there was a sauna. This area doesn't need tanning beds. Also, I understand everyone is trying to make money, but dag on! It is so crowded...it turns me off sometimes. They need to add machines if t hey are going to keep taking members. It would also be nice if they trained their staff of calories burned on each machine. One more thing, I don't understand the free tootsie rolls (candy) and first Monday of the month Pizza party...i thought we were trying to loose weight. Other than that. Been coming to this location consistently for about two months and I must say that I really like it. Before now, I got my workout on at Fitness Optimist in Largo (another amazing gym), Gold's Gym (also in Largo), or my apartment facilities. But now that I've purchased a home I recently stopped going to my free apartment gym so I was desperate for an alternative that was low cost and convenient. After trying a bit of everything, enter Planet Fitness. Although I really love Fitness Optimist in Largo (and highly recommend) the best, it comes with a hefty price tag. I stayed there as long as I could afford. But now I am cutting back so I've been trying the extremely affordable Planet Fitness. Luckily, the facilities are excellent! So I don't feel like I've given up much there. It has a lot of the equipment that I loved using at Fitness Optimist like medicine balls, resistance bands, and kettlebells. It also had quite a few machines that I'd always wanted to try like the stair machines as well as the weight benches with lift assistance so that you don't need someone to spot you. I would say the one thing they're really missing is a quiet room/area for stretching/yoga/pilates/calisthenics type exercises. Gold's has an area for that and so did my old apartment gym. There IS a very small gym mat area with about 2-4 gym mats. But it's pretty small. I very much enjoy the service and atmosphere--in fact this is probably my FAVORITE part. The staff at the counter smiles and greets you pleasantly in the morning. They are also good for answering any questions you have. Then there's one man who is always cleaning. That def makes for a nice environment. But what's really fascinating is how Planet Fitness somehow manages to build a less intimidating gym community. The Gold's in Largo had a lot of people that did things they don't allow in Planet Fitness like grunting, dropping weights, etc. And Gold's in general felt like a really masculine place (despite the women's area but even the fact that they had a women's area was part of the problem). But this place feels welcoming to all people at all fitness levels and that's who I see in the mornings. Everyone just trying to be healthy. A lot of trainers seem to hang out here or meet their clients here. This is good for someone looking to meet a trainer and doesn't know where to find one. read more

If you've seen one Planet Fitness, you've seen them all. The only bad things about this one is the location. I feel the need to look outside and make sure my car is still out there every few minutes, and keep my head on a swivel, when I'm walking to and from the parking lot at night. This location's machine's don't have the 5,10,15 pound adjustments like the Bowie location has. The weight jumps from 60 to 80 on most machines, that's ridiculous, unless you want to pull muscles and see no results. read more

I am a fan of Planet Fitness, but not this one. I was visiting this one on 7/2/16 and let's just say I will never go back after the way I was treated. I was asking a employee about the lockers and some others equipment I notice they didn't have and he proceeds to tell some of the things they did have and was planning on improving more things in the near future. But before he could finish a young man behind the counter jumped in our conversation and told Me I could take my negative comments somewhere else and said I didn't have to come to that gym. I first have him a look of surprise and next I had a few choice words for him. Next thing he decided to say I don't even work here ( found out he was a trainer for the gym). Great facility, but rude customer service when I walked in Sunday evening. No greeting... No have a nice work, just a "You good." The husky gentlemen acted like he didn't want to be there. I enjoy working out at this gym, it's not fancy and doesn't have the greatest equipment but it is functional and most of the staff is friendly. What I don't get and makes me nervous coming back to this location, in particular, is that the staff probably will not encourage, recommend, inform, acknowledge, make it known, say anything to the guests who REFUSE to wipe down equipment before or AFTER they finish using the equipment. Now that we are in the midst of this Pandemic I wonder how will this location help to ensure the cleanliness of the facility? Before the Pandemic I would go to the gym and workout and employees would watch guests leave equipment wet with their perspiration and they wouldn't say a thing. Now it is more important than ever before for everyone to be aware of keeping the space clean. I am sure the gym is thinking of the same thing because I know my friends and I who frequent this location feel nervous about returning. read more

This gym is great! You have a personal trainer whether you exercise in a group or individually. I workout here Monday through Friday. I lost weight and increased my endurance. I am stronger and more flexible. The professional trainers are awesome. They observe you while you exercise, assess your needs & teach you the exercises you need to become fit. I went in to find out about signing up for a membership. They seemed pretty understaffed. I found it kinda funny that she couldn't give me a tour of the gym because she had to "stay at the desk". Then when I asked if I could at least walk around myself, she told me I couldn't. So after minutes of waiting, her co-worker came back from lunch so she was able to do the tour. The tour ended up being useless because she talked extremely fast and I could barely hear a word she said. After that, she quickly handed me some membership brochures and ran off to finish having a casual conversation with her co-worker. Overall, wasn't really satisfied with the level of service.
