I don't know what corporate was thinking. This location rarely had unusable equipment and plenty of machines. About 6 mos ago they changed all their cardio machines out to a new vendor and the result has been disastrous. Literally over half of their cardio machines are unusable, and the usable ones feel cheap . Some machines have been inoperable for weeks. Staff rarely enforce the rules and allow gym goers to sit on their phones while people wait to use their very few effective strength machines. I have been a member here for a while but might be time to change gyms. read more

Only gym out of about 10 Planet Fitness's that I frequent that has ever given my wife a hard time about using our Black card guest card while I walk our dog around the parking lot. Lame new management! Maybe start with keeping the bathrooms clean or how about fixing the goofy vertical shower heads. What do you expect from a cheap gym though! You get what you pay for. read more

I was considering downgrading my Planet Fitness Black Card membership ($24.99) to the basic $10 plan, but after my experience today, I'm sticking with the premium membership! My partner and I had the pleasure of meeting Rudy from the overnight crew, and he completely changed how we see the benefits of the Black Card. We asked him what was included, and instead of just giving us a quick answer, he went above and beyond, walking us through every premium feature. He showed us the massage chairs, the red light therapy room, the hydro jet chairs, the tanning room, and more. Not only did he take the time to explain what each one does, but he also broke down how often we could use them and the benefits they offer. We decided to try the massage chairs, and WOW--total game changer! After today, we realized just how much value we get from the Black Card membership, and we're definitely keeping it. Rudy was incredibly patient, friendly, and informative. It's rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about customer experience, and he deserves all the recognition! I travel frequently for work and have visited many Planet Fitness locations across the West, and I have to say--this one in Hanford is among the best I've been to. While the gym itself is on the smaller side, the layout is well thought out, making it easy to move through workouts efficiently. The equipment is all in great shape--clean and fully functional--which is something I always appreciate. The entire facility, including the locker rooms and showers, is very well maintained. Sure, there are some minor improvements that could be made, like floor repairs in the men's locker room and a few bulbs that need replacing in one of the tanning booths, but overall, the cleanliness here is top-notch. Another standout feature is the well-lit parking lot at night, which is a huge plus for anyone visiting after dark. What really set this visit apart was the staff--everyone was friendly, but Rudy, in particular, made a lasting impression. His customer service was exceptional, and he truly made me feel welcome. His positive attitude and engagement with members show that he enjoys being there, making for one of the best interactions I've had with a staff member at any Planet Fitness. I've been working out at Planet Fitness in Hanford for about 4 years the staff is always friendly and very helpful especially Anthony and Josie. The gym is always clean which I have come to appreciate even more after going to a Planet Fitness in another town while away and the cleanliness of the Hanford location is far superior. Planet Fitness is finally open in Hanford! That's kind of a weird thing to say, but when you're a black card member, you're always interested in trying out different locations, and this one is near my current place of employment! The positives about being a brand new gym are somewhat obvious: few people, plenty of space, and clean equipment! This is a decent-size location, too. You'll find PF 360 (the smaller version), free weights, pulleys, 30-min workout area (PF Express), tons of cardio machines, Smith machines, and various isolation machines made my Matrix. What was interesting during my first visit was finding that most of the isolation machines now boast a rep counter and timer. I haven't seen this at other PF locations, but this could just be an update on the machines themselves. Like other PF clubs, there are no fitness classes here. It also remains to be seen whether the staff will actually use the lunk alarm. Honestly, I've only seen 2 clubs actually use that thing. Many Planet Fitness clubs don't seem to honour the whole philosophy, allowing people to go nuts and throw weights. So far, this place is very clean all around. The bathrooms have 2 Xlerator hand dryers. Yay for waste reduction! Furthermore, the front faces the west, so the sun sets in view of the windows, which is a cool sight to see in the late afternoons or early evenings. You may find that this gym is still working out some kinks, though. There was no music playing on the overhead speakers today. The soap dispensers were empty, so there were individual bottles of hand soap out. By the pull-up apparatus, there were boxes and plastic bags and stuff. Overall, for the price of the monthly membership, this PF has enough for me to get a pretty good workout all around. It's also kinda fun getting to use brand new equipment. Lastly, this location has a recycle bin! That's the first that I've seen, and I hope people use it appropriately. I will definitely be a frequent visitor while I'm working in Hanford! read more

This is the second review I'm leaving. The first one was posted one year ago regarding the parking kit and lack of concern to the filth that continues to pile up. I have walked by the same dirty, abandoned sock for over a month now. On another social media site I learned that there is currently a member trying to add poison/pills/unknown substance to someone's water bottle!!!! And the staff responded that they were aware of this member and past incidents?!!!!! Unacceptable in so many ways. They need to be held accountable. read more

I have been a member of this gym for a while and recently have been going regularly. I was on a bike with an open drink and an old man spiked my energy drink. It tasted like crushed up pills. My wife and I are black card members and have been to Planet Fitnesses in other states and in California. This Planet Fitness is the best one I've been too. It's a new BIG building. The staff works hard, are nice and professional. All the equipment is well maintained and organized. I'm honestly shocked that this Planet Fitness is averaging 3 stars right now. Pros: $10/ month membership fee, $1.00 sign up fee. It's 24 hrs. The gym is clean. Its' in the nicer part of town. Staff is over all friendly. There's plenty of staff around and they don't bother anyone and are helpful. Cons: I wish they had better equipment, but it's a not a pricey gym. You get what you pay for. The equipment isn't bad to begin with. You can do what you need to do with what they have. Also, parking upfront can be a challenge when it's busy, but there's more parking in the back. Conclusion: Unless you're high maintenance and seriously serious about working out, this gym is an awesome choice. Its a no brainer. I suggest taking a tour of the place when making a decision to see if the cons are really a con or just being picky. lol read more

Planet Fitness Hanford requires direct, unlimited access to your bank account. They don't take cash or any form of credit, or Paypal. Allowing any monthly services company direct access to withdraw funds from your personal banking is a recipe for disaster. The Fitness industry is notorious for bilking customers using direct banking access, and by refusing or ignoring requests to cancel service. Stay away. Find a company that doesn't demand direct access to your entire banking account. It's just too risky. read more

One of their employees singled me out and made me wear an ugly, sweat smelling t-shirt yet there were plenty of other women working out in sports bras with thinner straps than mine, and cropped tops that showed a lot more of a bare back than the sports bra that I was wearing. There were also men working out with tank tops thinner than the "2 inches" the female employee might have referred to. My whole outfit was a workout outfit. There was no profanity in my attire, no offensive imagery. I was wearing the appropriate shoes as well. I was the only one out of the whole club wearing the disgusting t-shirt. And the fact that other women who should have been "dress coded",according to this specific employee's policy, were not...made it a personal discriminatory attack. I have reviewed the q&a dress code online. I was dressed appropriately according to the General planet fitness terms. I've had a black card membership at this club for almost a year. And I've worked out in similar matching workout outfits for almost this whole past year. It has never been an issue before. Until today, for one of their female employees. Aside from this horrible experience, I've enjoyed my time at this club. Especially the black card perks, and the cleanliness...unless we're talking about smelly loaner t-shirts. So after years of driving over the road and getting way out of shape. I changed locations at my company and drive locally now. So i now have a decent schedule to get in some kinda shape. Hey! Isn't ROUND a shape???? Anyway we looked around at the the gyms in town here and decided we would give Planet Fitness a try. I've heard several stories about how they're really anti serious lifter. So I sort of walked in with some presumptions. I will say I was impressed with how CLEAN it is inside. The staff is super friendly and helpful. So we signed up and have been members for about 2 months now. At first I felt like I was at the nerd table at lunch time in school. Mostly due to the overwhelming amount of anti intimidation signs around the facility. It sort of makes you feel like you have to be super quiet so as not to scare anyone. But since I've been going on a regular basis I can't understand how it can be uncomfortable for some people to go to the gym. I mean not everyone is in great shape. Some may have certain health needs and don't need to be in a dungeon throw around the iron. Me for instance. I'm just getting back into shape and I'm really making myself go slow. So the anti intimidating thing in a way is sort of silly. Especially some of the signs they have posted. But i get what they're trying to do. So I ignore it. For 10$ a month I get a great facility to work out in. For a little more money they also have other facilities such as massage chairs and water massage. It's really pretty neat. Unfortunately with my schedule. I don't have time to use these things. So I'm relegated to just working out. Bottom line is of your want a great facility that you can feel comfortable in this is the place! read more

Every time I come in the staff is always helpful and friendly! I constantly see others members being jerks and I use to just laugh n recently I started to get bothered by it. I came in the other morning about 3:15. The staff had just finished their hour long cleaning and were still doing things here n there. Before you members want to be rude, remember that the staff is doing there job and keeping you safe from infections and germs. No need to be rude! It is not their fault your having a bad day! I had a very negative experience the other day with someone with black hair, I didn't get her name, but when asking to use the spa, I was met with hostility in regards to allowing my brother who is my guest into the spa area. I went ahead and used one of the Hydro massage beds and let him use it because the day prior he was able to use it but apparently because he is a guest he wasn't allowed to anymore. we were unaware of this and when she seen him on the Hydro massage bed, she abruptly opened the door and turned off our machine without any explanation. I found this extremely rude of her, especially because we were unaware of this. I have been a black card member for a while, but I am currently going back to the gym with my siblings and this negative experience threw us off. I wish I would've been given a proper explanation instead of her just turning it off and acting like nothing happened. Management should properly train their employees on how to handle these situations. I'm at the point where I'm wanting to cancel my membership because of this. I work in customer service and I would never treat a customer this way. read more

In June 2021, I joined this gym as a black card member about three weeks after coming as a guest of another member. At that time, the gym offered a variety of classes with a trainer, the facility was clean, and the staff were attentive. Approximately a year later, the long-term cleaning lady quit and shortly after the trainer was terminated. New management maybe? I don't know the circumstances but can say there has been a high turnover of staff ever since. Fast forward to present day, the gym is constantly in need of cleaning and maintenance; and there have been no classes available for a long while due to the absence of a trainer. In my opinion, the only benefit left was the 30-minute express circuit which was designed to be done regardless of a trainer. At the least, this allowed members the opportunity to maintain the fitness progress made while participating in the classes. Even though there is a sign posted out front "this area reserved for the 30-minute express training only! monitored regularly by staff" and another sign on the wall "THIS AREA FOR 30 MINUTE WORKOUT TRAINING ONLY" many members use the area constantly as an extension of machine zone making it extremely difficult to use for its intended purpose. And, in my opinion, management is doing a poor job to discourage and educate these members making it next to impossible to utilize the 30-minute express circuit. So, if you want a no-frills cheap gym strictly for weightlifting then this is fit. However, if you are wanting a clean gym, with proactive management, and the camaraderie and motivation that group training offers this gym is not that. read more

It was a good gym until they allowed kids aged 14-19 to have a free membership from May-Aug. Now, you cant get on any machines as these kids hang out and the gym is packed at hours when it used to not be. Also, when did 18-19 year olds become kids deserving a free membership? Why do the paying customers have to suffer with the lack of available equipment so free loaders can use it? Every paying member i have spoken with is pissed off as well. I've been going to this Gym for a few weeks now and. I'm loving my results and de stressing by getting a deep tissue massage in one of their chairs. The body enchantment machine is pretty cool too. The night staff is friendly and very helpful. The place is kept very clean. I love doing the 30 min workout and then cardio. I'm getting healthy and shedding that extra weight. Everyone is doing there own thing I never feel like I don't belong. There are all kinds of people with different body shapes and sizes working on getting healthy. It truly is a no judgement zone! Nice equipment because its newer facility but they don't enforce the 30 minute circuit room so its beyond frustrating if thats what you want to go there for like I did. People sat in there on their phones bouncing from machine to machine, sign is posted those machhines are for that 30 min full circuit work out rotation only and the same machines are on the main gym floor for one time random use. They need more than 1 sign in that room or to have staff enforce it. Probably wouldnt hurt to make some signs in Spanish since Hanford is 71% hispanic. No one listens to the other sign in there that says no bags on the floor either and there are several of those signs in english. They told me when enrolling I could do the black card and if not utilizing the extra features downgrade to regular membership when I tried to do it then they said I had to pay a $60 cancellation fee and sign back up as a new member. Absurd poor dishonest sales tactics. Lastly the classes are dangerous for elderly. 2 trainers ive been in classes with were not trained how to safely modify exercises for senior citizens in class, us in the class were assisting the seniors more than trainer. I signed up for planet fitness with my 16 yr old son, the employee told him to lie and put he was older to get membership, after only going for 1 1/2 months we went in to cancel on March 1 st, his membership, the employee said we had until March 17 th to cancel and not be charged, she was wrong they did it March 1 st, so I disputed charges, Daniel G was extremely rude, and said it hadn't been 2 months but close enough to charge $39.99, so I said no refund than cancel my membership as well, Daniel G tells me he will still charge me for June, refuses to give me a paper showing cancellation and asks for a credit card to charge me an additional $58, he claims early cancellation fee, I argue it's month to month there is no contract, I told him I'm heading to my bank to block charges and he says they'll put me in collections for not paying, I told him I'm not leaving until I have documentation of cancelling he finally gives me a paper, so now I'm out $120, which I will dispute with my bank, this employee was so ridiculously rude and even Planet Fitness doesn't have a corporate number for complaints it's a voice recording saying you have to deal with local gym with problems... horrible business tactics and rude employees.. read more
