Great gym, solid trainers, but what happened to the patriotic theme? It used to feel so American.

I'm not here to tear the gym apart or leave a bad review because I'm disgruntled like most of the reviewers. This is just a pure honest review for the owners to take into consideration and use to improve their gym. Everyone likes or dislikes something about every gym. I tried X Factor with their day pass (costs $10 - I can understand the fee, no big deal). The gym is small and quaint, and wasn't too busy (although I went at an off day and time). It feels a little out of order, I can see they did try to fit a LOT of stuff in there which makes it feel cramped even without a lot of people active. The equipment is pretty worn down, torn pads, weight labels wore down or missing completely, and the two treadmills I tried definitely needed some maintenance (belts felt loose and made funny noises). The real kinda "issue" I had was maybe more of a personal preference one. The music being played on the gym speakers was Christian praise and worship music. I get if you're a religious business owner and you, as the owner, get to choose what you play at your establishment. I have headphones so it wasn't a big deal. However, there are people who can't use or don't like headphones, and I feel a more neutral and up beat music for everyone would definitely be a better fit for a gym where people are trying to be energetic and get a good pump in. Praise and worship music doesn't really hit the spot in my opinion. I liked that they had spray bottles and wipe down towels up front for everyone, and the gym itself felt pretty accepting. Some gyms have a lot of rude meat heads that state you down, or make it uncomfortable. That wasn't the vibe here. Overall I give it a 3/5, one star knocked for playing slow tempo religious music, and one star knocked for very worn out equipment. Hope the owners can use this honest review to make some improvements and don't take it as a bashing. Definitely not my intention. read more

This place has a great staff, who are friendly, helpful....extremely understanding and kind to vets. Best of all...and I can't believe I have to save this during COVID....a clean facility. Now-a-days it's more and more difficult to find a gym where you can do it all. Some cardio equipment, standard free weights, machines, and power/olympic lifting. X Factor has it all, gives it to you for a good price, and doesn't get crowded! The gear: X Factor has everything you need for whatever kind of workouts you're into. Whether you're new to the gym and want to get started with some machines and dumbbells, or you're a seasoned power lifter looking to set a new PR, this gym has the equipment you need. 2/3 of the gym is dedicated to all your standard gym equipment, and the other 1/3 has a lot of hard to find specialty items. Certified power lifting weights (in KG), deadlift bars, Pit Shark squat machine, even a Booty Builder hip thrust machine! And yes, it really is called the "Booty Builder." The people: While I didn't have much interaction with the staff, they were always helpful and friendly! Even during peak after work hours (4-7 pm) it was never crowded. Pricing: The $30 monthly cost for a single membership is well worth it, especially if you utilize the specialty equipment. And if you're only in town for a short time like I was (mid-Dec to mid-Jan for the holidays) you can pay a one time fee of $45 for a month of access with no contract or other fees. Overall, X Factor is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. Whether you're a permanent resident or only in town for a short time, this is the place to get your fitness on. read more

I'm only giving them one star because you have to give them something. After Denise left this place went completely downhill. They don't take care of the machines there's less machines in there used to be an even after you complete a contract if you quit they charge you. All they want is money, super sad because it used to be a good gym when it was run by the previous owner. read more

Update: they were late last week and now this week there late. You guys need to communicate with your customers. I gave only 1 star. They had 2 but after this, theres no excuses for this. You need new employees. Btw not everyone has FB, like me... so if you post it on there dont expect everyone to see it. Heres some advice. Send out emails to your loyal customers, so there not wasting there time at 600am in the morning. read more

This Gym is a gym. Nothing special here. The powerlifting is annoying as you can't workout. The equipment is almost 100% broken. This is absurd as you have to pay to cancel. read more

I started going to this gym when I stay at the Fairfield (free entry for FF goers visiting the CV). Really clean gym, friendly staff and great equipment. Smaller gym than I'm used to but never overly busy in the mornings. If I lived in the Central Valley, I'd definitely be a permanent member! Love the signage asking members to pickup after themselves... nothing gets my blood pumping in the morning like weights laying all over from members too lazy to pick up after themselves! Grrrrr! I usually come here when I come to visit my boyfriends family. Like this weekend for an example. I am impressed by their customer service. Not pushy or trying to sell me things. There are a variety of machines for cardio or weights for lifting. The restrooms are always clean! Never have to fight for parking. This would be my gym if I lived in town read more

This is a gym with lack of empathy for someone with a physical injury I do not recommend it since they force someone that can not workout with a medical physician not allowing this person to workout to continue paying for her membership. read more

Update: The day after leaving this review, I was contacted by Violet & offered a refund for the monthly dues that I was charged. She apologized & said they would like to make things right. I accepted the offer as there is no way for me to utilize my membership at X-Factor without a place for my son to go. Even if I were able to work out at this gym, it is not right to be charged for amenities that they do not offer. Original review: Sign a contract with this gym at your own risk! After seeing that Flex Fit closed their doors & all memberships were transferred to X Factor, I immediately drove to X Factor with my toddler son in tow expecting to get in a work out (Flex Fit had a Kid Zone, so this was our regular routine). Upon arriving at X Factor, I was kindly greeted by Denise (who was very helpful & the only reason I am not giving only a 1 star rating). She had informed me that they do not have a Kid Zone. I told her there is no way I was going to be able to utilize my membership there with out a Kid Zone available. That's when she told me to come back at 1:00pm that day, Violet was handling all of the cancellations. I returned later & spoke with Violet to cancel my membership. She informed me that any dues within the next 30 days will still be charged to my account (even though I am not able to utilize my membership at this gym). I have an upgraded membership of $25.99 which includes the free weights, tanning bed, hydro massage & buddy privileges. However, X Factor has neither tanning or hydro massage. So, I am essentially still paying for the all the amenities but this gym is not holding their end of the deal. I could be on the $10 per month membership & get the same experience! All of my concerns were expressed to Violet & the only response that I got with each concern was, "Its all in the contract you signed..." AND she also told me, "Most people that know they want to cancel, do so 30 days prior to when they will no longer be coming to the gym to avoid the extra charge." Are you kidding me? If I knew Flex Fit was closing, I would have! I asked for a copy of the signed contract, that's when she told me she did not have authorization to email it to me & the printer was broken. Go figure. This gym is out to scrap up any last dollar from former Flex Fit Gym members. I work in customer service & this is not how you handle a situation where customers are being inconvenienced! I go back to Visalia to visit my family about 6-8 times a year. When I'm there I try to hit a gym, usually In-Shape or Lifestyles. I decided to go with this gym my most recent visit for Thanksgiving because I called in and a one of their friendly staff members offered me the first day free. Unfortunately, I missed the day of my appointment so I went in the following day. I paid the day fee ($10) which isn't bad. The gym itself is pretty small, but I love the layout. It is extremely clean for being 5 years old. I've managed over 7 different 24 Hour Fitness gyms, some way newer than 5 years, and for them to be able to keep that tidy is very impressive. The atmosphere and the member there were all very friendly and people were there to do work! The only con is that they close a little too early for my taste. On top of that the owner of the gym remembered my name when I thanked on the way out! It's not much, but it sure does go a long way from a customer service stand point. Clean, affordable, lots of equipment and friendly staff. I dropped in for one day during the Thanksgiving holiday while visiting my brother. It was perfect for what I was looking for. Because I mostly do crossfit, I wanted to back-squat and bench press. They had plenty to make the most of my workout. The equipment is all brand new, and everything was really clean. I enjoy coming to this gym and appreciate what it has to offer an older gentleman. This is a nice size gym, not so large that you feel lost or overwhelmed, yet still offers a good variety of cardio and weight training equipment that helps keep my exercise routines interesting. Denise the owner is on the premises most days and keep things running smooth. This is not a corporate chain, but a local business that has a friendly, welcoming feel. The staff of regulars are friendly and welcoming and they value their customers. Bonus, when Denise plays the music I don't need my earphones! All of this and some of the lowest fees around. Extremely clean, well maintained, lots of equipment, great layout, customer service is second-to-none!! I dropped into Visalia from Orange County for a work project and took a chance on a gym I never heard of, I couldn't have been more pleased; The owner Jeff and I chatted for 20 minutes before I started the first workout, it was a refreshing experience. Throughout my stay I came In at least 4 times a week and each time Jeff or his wife would greet me and ask about my day! Whether you are visiting Visalia or you are a resident of the area, I would recommend this gym to anyone and everyone I could! This is a great gym, we found. When we went it was always great never to busy so we were able to get on treadmills or machines as we pleased. We have a membership still but haven't made it in a while but we will go, just wasting money I suppose. If you are looking for a gym they give you a 7 days pass to try it out. read more

Read the contract CAREFULLY! They aren't very helpful if you want to cancel your contract, even if you're month to month. Don't forget your headphones. The owner who is a older gentleman plays late 70's early 80's Rock music constantly. I swear I hear the same music playing when I'm in there. And they hit you with a $40 once a year maintenance fee to upgrade and maintain equipment and I haven't seen anything new in there in over 8 months. 1000 members x $40. I enjoyed this gym UNTIL I had to relocate 3 1/2 years ago. After a few months of signing up for this gym, my girlfriend got a teaching job in another city in California. There were no X Factor Fitness gyms near our new city. Now my credit report shows over $1050 in collections for this place. I told them I was moving, but they wanted proof. My g/f and I didn't have a permanent place to live yet, so I couldn't send proof of residency. I shouldn't even have to give proof if I'm moving and they don't have a gym where I'm moving. The lady who owns the place even tried to accuse me of taking advantage of their promotion in front of other people. Since then, I've been going to In-Shape and they are awesome. X Factor Fitness has nothing in mind but money. They billed me for an entire year plus other fees. Three and a half years later I am still getting collection bills. I'll be reporting to the Better Business this week. read more
