I took advantage of the $1 down special and so far, I am loving this gym! In the past I was a member of Crunch and I was not a fan. Here, the gym is open 24 hours and it's not wall to wall freaking busy. I'm always able to find a cardio machine or weight machine, no problem. I'm even able to have a cardio machine or two between another patron, because let's be honest, who wants to really work out RIGHT NEXT to someone else? I certainly do not. This gym is also always clean. I haven't noticed old, dirty paper towels on the ground and everyone here is super respectful of each other. So far, I have yet to see no one finishing their workout, without wiping down the equipment with disinfectant. I also appreciate that Planet Fitness is a gym that is super welcoming to a noob, such as myself. No intimidating gym personalities, hogging up equipment or standing in front of mirrors flexing. People of all shapes and sizes are here, some starting their fitness journeys as well. In all, I'm absolutely happy that I've joined and I look forward to this being my permanent gym spot. PS: At first I honestly was hesitant to join because some of the previous reviews made comments about the area/parking lot and hinted about cars being vandalized. I don't get that vibe at all. First, the parking lot usually has a lot of cars, at least when I come, in the wee hours of the morning (between 4-5 AM) and it's well lit. Not saying it hasn't happened in the past, I'm just saying as a woman, I don't feel unsafe at this location, for myself or my vehicle when parking here to workout. read more

I'd give them zero, but if you do not cancel in person they will still keep stealing money from your account I had got a call to work in the northeast and called them to cancel as I was already on the road. Even their systems showed the last time I walked in was 2018, and it is June 2022 they have still been charging me cleaning fees and membership. Now granted it's my fault for not noticing because I didn't pay attention to my bank statements but they basically stole about 1000$. The employee told me they were canceling it, didn't do it and I never noticed they were taking money every month. Unfortunately I have to take away a couple stars due to the uncleanliness of the tanning beds. It's been about 4 times now that I have been put in dirty tanning beds. No one is cleaning these after someone leaves. Literally covered in hair. I asked the front desk staff to please give me spray so I can clean it myself and she assured me that she had just cleaned it, it was disgusting and clearly not clean. In short, they are legalized scammers. When i signed up, I signed up for an annual membership, and my membership ended (02/26/2022), on the app it showed that they were going to charge me $42 on 03/01/2022 for renewal of membership which I didn't even know. Because i thought after one year your membership cancel automatically but it doesn't. I moved out of town a month ago, So I drove over a hour to cancel my membership,,just because i did not want to get charged for my membership for the next year. So when i reached there they told me that the charges are already on pending so there is nothing i can do i have to pay no matter what even if i decide to cancel my membership today. I joined on 01/26/21 so i should i have gone before 01/26/2022 so i don't get charged for the next year but even if i did go earlier they would have a cancellation fee cause i have not completed my year. This is all BS they just trying get your money. Yes it is cheap! For future customers Make sure you clarify all your doubts before signing up a contract with them cause they don't explain that something like this would happen to you in the future. On top that when i called them regarding this matter the employee on the phone was really rude over the phone she told me that it was my fault that i didn't cancel my membership before moving out of town then explained the two ways i can cancel my membership and hung up the phone on me. Great place, a lot of machines and free weights, very clean, staff very friendly. I saw staff keeping cleaning the machines, that is good!!!!!! My only concern is found so many people without a mask. There is a sign where is mandatory to wear a mask, the gym even helps you if you forget your mask, you can buy one. So no excuse for not using a mask. I understand maybe there are some exceptions for this rule, for example, medical condition, maybe this applies for some persons but I do not think this applies for a lot of people as I watched in the gym today (around ten or more). I travel for work and always join a Planet Fitness as a black card member. No other PF has ever required a 1 year commitment for a Black Card. I am only going to be in the area for about 9-10 months. When I decided to go ahead and join the person at the desk told me I couldn't join there, they were only doing memberships from the Planet Fitness app. This is not a corporate policy because I just finished a Black Card membership at my last project in Ohio two weeks ago, which I joined during the pandemic. Staff is very rude and not helpful. After getting pregnant I stopped attending the gym for a while. Wanted to end my membership but lived in a different city and they said I needed to come in which I wasn't able to. Now that I'm trying to renew my membership at a new location I am not able to Bc of this location saying I owe them fees for months I was not attending and were supposed to be canceled. the worst ! aside from the one on 1960 and 45 but everyone in Houston knows not to expect much from 45! but 1960?! they're following 45!! its a mess! nothing is organized. you have to go look for weights (dumb bells, kettlebell, barbells) literally scattered EVERYWHERE! from in between treadmills to the back private rooms!! && front desk is just sitting there chitchatting and eating. As far as customer service this place is the worst. I asked them last month to switch my billing. I was informed it was updated and would come through the correct account. This month was the same issue. I paid the first late fees as those were my fault. This time they cost me $70 in overdraft fees and also expect me to pay $30 for the late fees that occured. I asked to have my account cancelled which they would not do if the fees were not paid and would only waive 1 of them because " that's what the system allows" I work customer service and I know b.s. when I hear it. Greetings, This location is clean and it's affordable. My complaints: The music that is played is for a younger crowd in the morning time slots, even though the crowd is older. Too much Hip Hop and Rap music. Second, I'm in a bit of a time crunch. I'm a professional and need to get in and get my workout over. There are too many people sitting on equipment playing with their cell phones. I have gone through 3 stations(3 sets each) and the person is still sitting at a machine( only one in the gym) looking at their phone. One guy was literary watching bull fights. This is a problem that really needs to be addressed. I know people have become addicted to that device....but they are really wasting my TIME. Please DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS. read more

Ahhh Planet Fitness had always been a really good serviced gym since I first started going almost six years ago. Had to post this complaint: During my workout, I was intervened by the lady, who works at the front desk, on June 26 sometime after 5pm. While I worked out on a leg extension machine in the yellow room, she appeared to me. She educated me on how to use this room, which is to briefly use the machine and then switch to another. I also want to add that there were only two other people working out in the yellow room at the time. Though I did confront her about this occasion already, my complaint is if this lady or any other planet fitness personnel wants to hold a gym member accountable to use that yellow room correctly, then make it a point to single out EVERYONE. I couldn't keep count on my fingers how many times I have seen people use this room for a particular workout, because the other machines are full in the other areas around the gym. I didn't like being singled out and I was quite embarrassed. However, I did tell the lady at the front desk that I understood she was doing her job. I tried to smooth over the experience. Thanks to her I will not utilize the yellow room like I had done many times before. I just can't believe I had been singled out in all the years I have held a membership with Planet Fitness and at the worst time. Not to mention, I feel like I am now being watched at this particular Planet Fitness by the employees.... You ever get that feeling that someone is looking over your shoulder and watching you? I ALWAYS have an issue with Mayra (General Mgr) and Dominique (Front desk attendee)! The boyfriend and I just signed up with Planet Fitness. We travel for a living, so the many locations and 24/7 hours work very well for us. Here in TX we have been to three locations: Spring Branch, Barker Cypress, and now this one. This gym is totally good. A great place to get a workout in at any time. The main differences between this PF and the other two locations were as follows: - More people working out than at the other two locations - Slightly less clean than the other locations We had no issues with the front desk staff...we checked in and that was it, no problems. Despite the fact that it was fairly crowded, I had no issues using all of the equipment that I wanted to use, which included a mat in the stretch room, an elliptical, two ab machines, and four upper body machines. I did not have to wait to use any of these. Other folks exercising were polite and friendly. The equipment was clean and well-maintained. But I did give 4/5 because overall this PF had more trash lying around both in the workout areas and in the locker rooms. I also did not see staff members cleaning, as I have observed at both of the other TX locations I've been too. read more

I walked in for the first time and was treated with extremely sub par customer service. The employee at the front desk, Marc, could use some training on how to treat guests. Maybe he got caught up in being overwhelmed because the store was busy, but he was extremely rude to me, just in the way he spoke to me as if I was inconveniencing him. I did not feel welcome at all, was given a key tag and nothing else. As this was my first visit after signing up online, I was expecting a tour and maybe an explanation of my benefits and equipment I'm able to use, etc, but instead felt like I was somewhere I shouldn't be. I feel bad for the other people that had bad customer service experiences. I have never had an issue. They have been nice to me always and have never had to wait for a tanning bed. I always make sure to monitor the crowd through the app to make sure I won't have to wait too long if at all for a machine. Yes some people do stay on their phones but I have no problem asking them if they are almost done. Haven't met a trainer yet. Not sure if that costs extra. I would give zero stars. The staff at this location is about the age of 16 years old. There is no actual Adult in charge here and you will never get to speak to the REAL Manager or Owner of this location. They just give you the run around. Its ran by children so when you actually need something done paperwork wise no one at the front counter will be able to assist you. I would AVOID getting screwed over at this Location. I tried talking to a Manager about membership on a friend that died. The membership was canceled after my friend entered the hospital. At that time, none of us knew he would never leave the hospital. Planet fitness continued to charge his account even after the cancelation. Now, they refused to come to the phone and help find a reasonable solution. GM Myra has offered to refund a partial amount. A woman and son lost a massive part of their life this year. Planet Fitness only wants to give back part of what they took. Where's the empathy? Does anyone even know what that means anymore? Really really clean fitness center and welcoming staff. However, don't be fooled by the cheap memberships. They barely have any equipment!!! Mainly free weights. That's right, no free weights at all. I signed up for a membership and cancelled about 2 days later (waste of money). I went in to work out for the first time but I didn't stay for long because of the lack of amount of weight machines. On 1/2/18 I paid for my wife and two daughters a Planet Fitness gym membership as Christmas present. The membership required a one year commitment. Unfortunately they didnt use it. Yesterday i went into the club to give them notice of cancellation. I realized that i would have to complete my obligation but i wanted to give them proper notice. The represrntative said that Membership wasnt ovwr until February. I told him that I agreed to pay them for 12 months. He became extremely rude with me. I tried to tell him that there were 12 months in a year. Not 13. He asked if i read the contract. I told him that i initially read that i was obligated for only one year. Unless it's during their peak hours (which they have a graph for upon signing up) I really don't mind being at Planet Fitness any time of the day/week. Since last March I have been a Black Card holder and although the accommodations for black card are often abused (non members in spa area) it really hasn't been a direct problem. Recently I just started using their 30 minute work out area which includes a number of different machines instructed by a red/green light system, its like a private personal trainer. If you're going to this gym just remember, lock your car, secure your locker, bring headphones, anticipate a crowd and wipe down your machines. For the love of god, wipe your machines.... read more

I've never had issues with this location until now. I signed up a year ago and went for a while, then work changed and I don't have the time to go. Now I'm going to be traveling for 6 months so I called to see if they could put the membership on hold. They said I had to come in to do that. That's a crazy policy, it's a gym membership for goodness sake, but there was no flexibility on their​ part. Due to work,​ it's taken me a while to get there to take care of this but I went in today and was greeted by a nice guy and then by a very rude woman. I was talking to the guy but she kept answering for him. I told them I wanted to put a hold on my membership. She said, in a rude way, "Why?". I told her I was going to be traveling for 6 months. She said - again rudely, "We only do that for financial reasons and only for 3 months." I asked what my options were then, and she said to cancel altogether. I asked if that was my only choice and she said rudely, "yes". Since that was my only option I canceled​ my membership. Then I asked what the $42 was for that hit my account last Friday - this is now Tuesday, 3 business days later. I didn't realize it had been a full year but he said that was my annual renewal fee. I asked if that could be refunded since I'm canceling​ and it literally was 3 days ago. She chimed in again and said abruptly, "no, we don't refund those fees it's in your contract that you signed." I told her that I realize I signed a contract​ and asked if an exception can be made since it was literally 3 days ago? She said, "no, we have people cancel the day after being charged and we don't do it." I thanked the man for​ helping me and left. When I got home I went to the PF website only to find out that there is NO WAY to contact their corporate office for customer service issues. You have to call the individual location. I wasn't happy about that but I did​ and asked for the owner of the franchise. I was told they don't give out that information but I could speak to the general manager. I said ok, and they transferred me to a woman named Myra. I told her the story, she apologized for the rudeness I'd experienced earlier​ but said firmly that she wouldn't refund my annual renewal fee. So I asked her - if in 6 months when I'm no longer traveling and want to rejoin, will I have to pay another initiation​ fee? The answer was YES. What? So I'm either out $42 now and have to pay another $40+ to rejoin, or I continue to pay the monthly GOLD membership fee for 6 months while I travel. She kept repeating that I signed a contract so that's the rule. I assured her I was well aware of the contract, but I know that the "owner" can make exceptions if they want to. There is absolutely nothing preventing them from doing that if they wanted to. Now - Folks I get it - I understand they're in business to make money and I'm sure there are people who try to get out of their​ contracts without paying- but I didn't want to, I wanted to put it on hold and then come back and start paying again.... but that didn't matter. They'd rather lose a customer than put a membership on hold or refund $42...​ In this day and age of BAD customer service everywhere, Planet Fitness would do well to rethink the customer experience they're providing their members. It's way too easy to join another low-cost​ gym, but hey, maybe they don't care. Based on other reviews I've read today on this location it appears they have issues with customer service in general. And one last thing - I teach customer service and the customer experience for a living and this story will definitely be in one of my courses - of what NOT to do. read more

Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars I would. I purchased this back in July of last year after my first time going I didn't return. Staff was rude, I tried to cancel but I Realized I had to buy out of my contract. Fine I waited it out I was told I would be able to cancel for free August 27 of this year and then August 27 I get a fee, The second one mind you Of the annual service fee. So I called I explain to the manager that I was told if I canceled August 27 it would be free so therefore I shouldn't have to pay the annual service fee. There's nothing she can do about it apparently, there's nobody higher than her that I can address my issue with. If I can't get on his service I think you guys should be aware as well. I'm torn. I have been to this gym for two weeks and there are lots of perks: clean, well kept, tons of treadmills, working equipment, and lots of TVs. The downside? The people have always been so rude. From questions to getting help with my card not scanning I was either pushed off or ignored and walked past.
